Hey,
I just wanted to start this thread to collect our experiences and current configurations about the battery service life since updating our Lumias to the new firmware release 1750.0805.8773.12220, because mine seems to be much better than before.
My configuration and usage is as follows:
3G now always enabled (though poor 3G signal)
1 IMAP account retrieving mails every 15 minutes
1 Windows Live account retrieving new objects every hour
Facebook account with standard settings
about 30 SMS a day
about 40-50 WhatsApp messages
listening to music about 2-3 hours a day
about 30 minutes Facebook a day
So battery drain is now about 3-5% an hour.
I updated my Lumia 800 via zune and now I have firmware 1750.0805.8779.12221. couldnt notice any changes after 12140. confused...
still a day and a half for me on 2g after the update...
I think this update has all but ironed out all the battery issues. I cannot expect Nokia to do anything more with the battery as it has been almost 6 months since the Lumia's release. If there was a big battery bug it surely would have been ironed out by now. So i do not expect anymore miracles from any software update from this point on. 14-15 hours is fair enough according to me for this phone. Wouldn't ask for more!
I'm very happy with this update, because battery drain was about 7-10% before (x.12072) on same settings.
Maybe Nokia hasn't listed all the fixes in the changelog.
So now, I wouldn't aks for more, because I can use my smartphone as long as my old DesireHD or even longer.

where are you from? because you've got the 8779 oem firmware? rm-801? which country?
Mine i have 2 hours spent all day in Twitter, 1 hours in Facebook, 20 SMS, 3 hours of talking, 1 hour of Internet, 2 e-mail accounts syncing mail as soon as arrives, Accuweather,Live Calendar and Connection Tiles running on background and i uses only EDGE, i get only 1 day and a few hours, i think that its the normal.
Battery drain
I should not have to charge my phone every single day...
I don't often make calls or send sms'. My 2 email accounts are set to download every hour and my twitter account is barely used. I mainly use the phone for a 10 minute game a day and the rest of the time it gets used to read a chapter or two of an ebook. (while not busy at work )
But, battery drain is expected. I suppose I'd get better battery life if I let the phone discharge completely and then recharge from the wall plug instead of charging when the battery is around 20% at night.

I think it wouldn't affect it too much, because it's a lithium polymer battery inside our phones.
I also noticed that, with normal use the battery pass 2 days

Bugger. Guess I will cross my fingers and hope that somehow the drain decreases. :fingers-crossed:
If not, I have my charger with me at all times anyway :victory:
Nokia Win
its been 2 days since i updated and ive noticed that the battery level is enduring longer =), not sure if it is a placebo effecto or something, because the battery before the update was already very enduring.
Lumia 800 for the Win =)

I bought this phone from finland, the day it was released(059N3K4). I was using this chineese 12140(059P4C2) before the update. yesterday, zune said there is an update, and did update.
now,
os version is 7.10.8773.98 but firmware version is, as I told earlier, 1750.0805.8779.12221.
there seems to be no change but maybe a slight better battery performance, if there is really any.

It's actually a lithium-ion battery - not quite the same thing as lithium ion polymer batteries.
well it may be wishful thinking - but the battery does seem a little stronger (after a hard reset (the volume + power button). Looking at the diagnostic app the battery drain of ~75mA is more consistent than it was previously.. 18hours is good enough for me - still carry a juice pack though
with normal usage I can get past 2 days without a problem. the last firmware update is great
I see an improvement also. Have had the update for a week and believed it to be wishful thinking in the beginning. But it is consistent. Not dramatically, but definitely better. Especially under 3G.

Guys i used the china variant of tango, before the global release.
I noticed 3G is excellent on china variant, once set it gives me an "H" throughout.
I noticed the UK variant i flashed (tango) has browser problems with facebook, keeps giving error to "Try again"
There is export to sim in china
and the battery is extremely good, way better in the china.
So mayb the UPDATE from ZUNE and the flashed FW mayb have a difference
i will test a ZUNE update and let you;ll know
With Standby my Lumia lasts at least 22 hours with a 4-5% batterydrain per hour.. max 24 hours. (3g on, 5 mail accounts / 2hours, 2 BG tasks, 3 Push Apps.)
With minimal use i can use the device 12-16 hours.
My provider have 3G only, so i cannot use E or GSM.

Hi All
Been searching but cant seem to find anything.
Since forcing the update via zune i have found the battery life to be appalling. Doesnt even last a day without charging. Im using the same apps and same or less usage.
Befor the mango update (nodo) I was getting nearly two days before completly draining the battery...now i will be lucky to get 9 hours!
anyone else experience such issues...seriously thinking of going back to no do.

I have been beta user of Mango and recently updated to Mango.. and no I dont have that problem. Mine works same as earlier.
In my Mozart, mango drain battery much more then pre-NODO version even with sync set to manual, data connection off, wifi off, 3g off, location off, BT off and it drains more then 5% per 5hours during my sleep pre-nodo almost nothing.
well ive tried setting the sync to every 15mins as oppossed to as it arrives..so lets see if that helps...but it definately drains more than nodo on the same settings....i wonder if more is going on in the background than we can see...
I have the same issue- my first charge lasted 11 hours and i was sleeping for 7 of those hours...
well so far ive been going for 6hours and its on 70% so hopefully the sync timing may have resolved the issue somewhat...its saying 10hrs or so left...so thats a bit better than what has been doing since the update.
Charging my Mozart direct to a power point takes a shorter time to charge than charging through USB
As long as im not playing games all day my mozart seems to last all day if i charge it from about 12am till 7am when i get up for work.
can't say i've got this issue, i've updated to official Mango RTM and i find the battery is about the same. Wifi on all day, one push email account and about 1 hour worth of phone calls, some internet browsing, it's still over 50%
well i think the sync issue sorted it. after setting it to check every 15mins it held its charge all day. disconnected it at 8.30am and come 9pm it still said it had 50% battery left.
so all in all much better than the past few days where it would go into battery save mode by 5pm.
I made hard reset on Mango and after that I feel battery life is a little better.
Battery is steal strong !
for me the bigest battery consumer is data connection, when I turn it off battery live is a little bit better
based on my experience, my battery was definitely longer after the mango update. with nodo my battery cant last that long.
I just flashed to nhathoa's 5.01 ROM.
This is a problem I faced even before the ROM flash. Whenever I power down the device and connect it to the USB to charge, the device will wake up by itself. It seems there is no way to charge the battery while power is off
well ive been running the phone now for a few days using the new setting and all seems to be well...i can get away without charging my phone for 24hrs if need be so thats much better than the original 8hrs or so.
Maybe I mean...
GPS is allways on ...radio driver bug
SPL issue ?
is turning the battery saver always on bad for the phone? other than of course no push etc. i am just wondering if it will have an adverse effect on your battery if i always want to squeeze every drop of my battery.
I have tried many different ROMs and I am supposed to say, that it is different with every ROM... Finally I bought Mugen Power battery 1800 mAh. Standard battery wasn't able to last one day (12 hours). Now it is OK
Another thing... This ROM helped with battery... After flashing it, I have a longer battery life...

In my case, after updating to new firmware and software my battery full capacity indicator has become sort of crazy (for the worst).
Before updating I got a solid 1390 mAh always. Now It depends on the day, but It never surpases the 1270 mAh. Barrier.
Today I´m getting a poor 1170 mAh.
Strange thing.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

From my review, my battery seems to be getting better now, first week after the update, battery was dreadful, it seems to be a whole lot better now. Give it a week, if it continues, email Nokia support, since you hopefully have your warranty, they'll check and replace it if it's faulty, I'm suffering from some horrible notification bug, that's worse, getting your notification when you enter message/whatsapp...-_-
Have same problem. The last update have reduced full charge capacity from 1420 mA to 1303 mA and it's still decreasing every charge. Hope is's soft bug, otherwise nokia should exchange killed batteries phones.
Nokia says not to trust their diagnostics tool when it comes to degrading capacity. The battery should be fine anyway unless it reports less than 1000mAh.
Nokia's biggest mistake was making the Diagnostics available to every user. Now everybody thinks Nokia stole their precious mAh...
Note: It doesn't even matter the update gave us some hours in autonomy.
Yep. Without it most users would actually enjoy their phones.
So the Diagnostics tool gives a bad reading?
Today, when I plugged the charger off, the charge percent inmediately went down from 100% to 98%. Maybe there´s some kind of software bug thay doesn´t give the real battery performance.
P.S.: I actually enjoy my phone. Love it.

This happened to me also this morning. Took my phone off charge, unlocked it and then was at 98% but going to keep an eye on it throughout the day. I got roughly 15 hours use yesterday and 5 hours of that was when i was at work.
I am getting terrible battery life after the update. 100 % at last mid night. By the morning it is at 85%. It seems the battery life got worsen by a 40 % decrease before the update.
Should I restore my Lumia 800?
I get weird battery issue on my latest 800. About every second charge the battery drains very fast doing nothing. The next charge it is fine. Next after that it can drain. And so it goes. Something fishy with software indeed. It was preloaded with 11501 from factory so I have not updated myself.
Nokia need to take a detailed look at this. As it is now they fully think the issue is fixed when in face it is not. As the topic implies it actually made things worse compared to old firmware. Those 15% charge that were lost in old firmware it lasted longer anyway because it had no drain.

I have made a factory reset just for the heck of it. Also I have recently started rebooting my phone with the charger plugged after every charge and then unplug when it is booted again. So far no drain after doing so but too early to make any conclusions.
I reseted the phone on a charge cycle with drain and after the reset the drain stopped. So something weird is going on. Hadn't really installed apps etc... syncing/location etc off...

Unfortunately I do not even have the good days result. After I updated my Lumia to .11500 my battery drains really quick with doing nothing. Before going to sleep I had about 60%, waking up it was empty, in 6 hours! Before I could last about 1.5 days with my phone. Hardly 10 hours with normal use. 3G on but wifi and bt off.
Does anyone know how to change this or to change it back to the earlier version of software?
I love this phone and its OS, but the battery consumption is just wrong!
Thanks.

Same issue with battery drain. Not that frequent though. Two times in two weeks. It´s random I think. Thing is that I´ve noticed that it has occurred when the phone shows maximum than my average battery capacity.
Normally phone shows 1170 mAh when fully charged. Strangely enough I get a very decent battery life. More than 24 hours with normal to heavy use.
But today it showed 1370 mAh fully charged and it´s not passed 12 hour barrier.

Since I made that factory reset the drain has not come back so far. Now I get good battery life and it's usually at 70% when I go to sleep at nights with moderate use throughout the day.
Is this what everyone is doing for best battery or is it just me?
Used to get heavy drain when I get the mobile:
I had to do below:
1) Location services off - i use very low though.
2) Removing people tile
3) Display brightness - LOW
4) Settings->Applications->Games->Connect to Xbox LIVE-> OFF
(with ON, used to drain battery alot atleast for me)
5) Settings->Background tasks->Weather->Off
(not sure of this, but I don't use it so I switched off)
6) Removing XBox Live Tile (In fact all live tiles like App Highlights etc...)
7) Date+time -> Set automatically -> OFFFF (I don't think we need it unless we go to other country)
8) Phone Update -> Turn off notifications
By the way,
I use push email outlook on always

What to do. Now a days all smart phones come with great features and poor battery life.
By the way, anybody knows how to turn off fast dormancy in our lumia 800? I used to get much better battery life by turning off fast dormancy in android phones ( obviously my network is not supporting the feature though)

So you're limiting the phones key features for a battery problem? Why not contact Nokia? I must be honest, if Nokia were to tell me to switch off so many features of my phone, I would tell them to kindly p*** off, as I've had many phones before it that didn't pose a problem like this, if it's a fault, they should act to it, not make you rectify their mistakes. At the end of the day, if you broke your phone accidently, would they fix it for you? So why should you?
I am on my second blue Lumia. The battery life on both has been pathetic. 6-10 hours max, even without touching the phone. And that is on both recent firmware versions.
I am wondering whether to bother exchanging it or just try for a refund.

I haven't battery problems..
My bomb is the Black Lumia 800 unlocked
Mine's pretty good, although I had a brief period where it was absolutely shocking.
Battery was great until the last update. Was getting around 26-30 hours, now getting 14-16 hours.
From factory my Lumia was sketchy (preloaded with 11501). Got battery drain sometimes. Did a factory reset and it hasn't come back yet. Getting good life now. Can make it two days without charge.
My lumia has the latest ROM but the old firmware and the battery till now is pretty good
45- 60 min calls
almost an hour gaming
20 - 30 min browsing
all push notifications on
a lot of apps like whatsapp which requires push is on
still I have almost 30% remaining in the night when i keep it for charging.
I think almost all who has the new firmware is having batterry issues
Yesterday was my first day of full ownership, so I used the phone a fair but but not really heavy. The battery died around 10pm. Bit disappointed, it needs another 10-20%.

Wouldnt expect it lol, i had mine a week. Battery was shocking at the start. Got better then got really worse.
Just keep an eye on it, thats all i can suggest if your not happy then do what i done, contact your phone provider and get it changed.
i have 1 to 1.5 days of battery with normal usage, few calls, sms, music, browsing, etc. i have the Cyan Version
Today my Lumia barely made it through the day. Unplugged it from charger at 6.14 am now I'm at home from work and I got 10% battery left. Specs:
Country Variant: CV Denmark (514 v. 01)
Color: Cyan
OS: 7.10.8107.79
FW: 1600.2479.7740.11451
Mostly I get really low battery performance, and the phone is most of the day in standby.
got my new black lumia today....currently charging it before using it(had to set it up though)
Battery Status
Charged 65535%
Voltage 4.174 V (this ranges +/- 1)
Current Discharging 14mA
Full Change Capacity 1511mAh
Remaining Charge Capacity 1271mAh
1511mAh !! Do you have the 11500 update?
No i have just plugged my phone into Zune and im updating as i type....
---------- Post added at 10:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 PM ----------
Ok so now that i have done my update here are my stats...
Current Charge Capacity - 1484 mAh
Remaining Charge Capacity - 1240 mAh
Question..........why has this changed via an update?
Thanks for all the info. Really interested in peoples real life experiences.
My first Lumia lasted about 12 hours with my typical usage. My second lasts a little less, maybe 10 hours.
I had an HD7 which on Mango lasted about 20 hours with my usage - but I think its battery was damaged as it did weird things.
I have a TITAN which lasts 30+ hours for me.
I really want the Lumia to work for me though, but how many times can I return it!?
see my only problem is im with vodafone on my contract and the only windows phone they have is the lumia. I could cancel but no point over a phone. I do really hope its a software problem. I would never of expected this from nokia. I shall keep everyone updated anyway. Im testing the hell out this one just now lol

Because that update fixes a battery bug that lets you charge up the phone like 15% more.
Some feedback for you guys...my findings are actually rather shocking to be honest. So last night i left both my iphone 4s and my lumia on standby throughout the night. It was roughly 6Hr 30Mins on standby during this time here are my findings...
Nokia Lumia FW ver 11500 - decreased 20% in that time Battery Capacity - 1412 mAh
iPhone 4s FW Ver 5.0.1 - Decreased 2% in that time. Battery Capacity - 1432 mAh
What the hell is going on with this phone lol.
Is anyone getting high discharge rate on 12070 firmware? This is driving me nuts, the phone lasts barely 24 hours. The drain value is about 207mA, sometimes drops to 76mA, but after a while peaks again even to 389mA. HD7 after 24 hours has 60% of battery left, Lumia 13%.
If this is the way how Nokia is going to continue with the windows phone brand, then god be with us.
PS: don´t go telling me about hard resetting the phone, I´m not gonna do that, I did, it fixed it, then I restored the data back, and after a week it´s back. I don´t have time to do this every weekend.

Yes and 12072 made it even worse for me, about 100mA when not in use and 350 or higher when a push notification comes in.
I personally think the data connection is causing the big drains, when actively using 3G the battery drains very fast. So using whatsapp, IE9, etc and other apps using data or PN will contribute quite significantly. I am lucky if I get 20 hours, most of the time 12-15... It used to be 20-24 on 12070 somehow.
You can test the battery drains due to PN by sending yourself some messages trough whatsapp (or let a friend do this) and then check the diagnosis app battery meter.
Also a bad 3G reception will kill the phone in 9 hours of use
It´s not a problem of 3G, when I switch to EDGE, I also get drains like that. What I think it is, it happened everytime when some apps got updated, lately SkyDrive and SoundHound and Weather Flow week before. Nokia should do something about this because this is unacceptable.
Are you using 'as items arrive' for the email 'Download new content' setting? I was getting wild and frequent fluctuations from 90-400 mA with this on, changing it to poll every X minutes seems to keep it down in the 70s. Can't be 100% sure if this is the issue without more testing.
My question is: Is the battery life of the Lumia 920 so bad, like they say?
Mine has been unplugged for 14 hours with heavy to moderate use and still has 20% left. Battery life got much better for me when I uninstalled the Battery Level for WP8 app. I'd say it's on par with the HTC One X or Galaxy S3.

it can be, if you don't terminate nokia drive and it is running constantly in the background
there are also some weird modes the OS can get into that cause faster battery drain. A reboot fixes that until the next time.
When it's working the right way, it should go all day with decent use on a single charge.

I checked my phone and the last time I plugged in was 1day and 2 hrs (i.e 26 hrs) ago. It still shows 79% battery life remaining.
I've made a few phone calls, checked emails regularly, took a 1 minute video (and uploaded to Skydrive) and some pictures. Minimal web browsing.
Turned on GPS to show it to somebody but didn't really use it.
I think if you make sure that unnecessary background tasks are turned off, then Nokia 920 has excellent battery life!
I've never been this pleasantly surprised with the battery life.

well it depends on many things. For me a bad GSM-Signal ****s up the battery very fast. (about 10 Hours) even in powersaving-mode. BUT from Saturday to monday with medium usage and in powersaving-Mode it took only 26% of Battery and than i went to work, where the Signal is poor and it took 9 hours to kill the battery :-/
So i would say, if Nokia fixes the radio, the lumia 920 will be great on battery life.

I checked my phone and the last time I plugged in was 1day and 2 hrs (i.e 26 hrs) ago. It still shows 79% battery life remaining.

Update: Time since last charged: 2 days & 3 hrs (51 hrs). Battery remaining: 44%
I've been using my phone all this time - made a few calls, used Photobeamer to share pictures. Used bluetooth just for a few mins.
I will post a screenshot tonight but yesterday I went from 9 am -1240 until it died, I was making calls texting speed tests and listening to music aloud and taking pictures during the day also. its great battery life better than the One X, I would say about 18 hours battery if your playing games and taking videos compared to 15 for the one X
Here is my screen shot and my day of use:
5am wake up 5 text msgs, leave phone on with push notifications till 6pm (haven't touched it) 6pm-8pm constant testing and calling to make plans for the night, 8pm-8:30pm browsing flud reading RSS feeds. mild texting / calling till 2 am, wake up at 9 am mild texting and tweeting and at 5 pm this is the screen texting all day and lots of browsing
Here is the screen

I have noticed Wi-Fi uses alot of battery along with low signal, more than on most phones
My battery life fluctuates a lot, mostly having to do with signal strength. I live and work in a low service area; I never see above 2 bars of LTE/4g.
My battery lasts me the whole day of work; 8 hours. That is 8 hours with Data, WI-FI, Location on; listening to non-streaming music, regular texting, 3 email accounts polling (as items receive). 3 background apps. (Weather, WP Central, Moon 3d), Checking FB, etc. So high usage.
I do not have Nokia Drive installed, I found it killed my battery very quickly. I would be lucky if I got 5 hours of battery with it. It even affected my battery life even after uninstalling it (and rebooting the phone). Luckily I was able to fix it by installing the newest version; enabling the battery saver, uninstalling, and rebooting my phone.
My 920 had a battery drainer called Skype. Before the latest Skype update, the battery would last only a day with normal usage, I needed to recharge it every night.
Now, since the last Skype update, the battery life more than doubled, I can get almost 3 days of normal usage without charging, which is pretty good.

No. Well, not for me anyway,
It's definitely better than my old iPhone 4 in a like for like test (my daily work routine hasn't changed since I bought the L920).
If I listen to the BBC Radio app then I'll be down to about 30% by the end of the working day (just over 8 hours), but if I'm listening to audio on the device itself then I rarely drop below 80% before I leave the office. I'm very happy with the battery life on the L920, and unlike my flatmate with his GS3 I don't have to charge it up before I head out in the evening.
I am considering trashing my iphone 4s in favor of a lumia phone. It's good to know that the battery on a lumia phone is good if you dont let bad app run in the background.
