I'm thinking of buying this phone and dumping a blackberry...but I rely on WfiCalling for my phone signal.
I have read one thread related to Orange where the guys couldn't get it going.
Anybody hear of this function working on GS3??
I'm on tmobile in the USA and there is no wifi calling options in my menus like USA tmobile branded phones usually have (not that i've found anyone with a US GS3 to see if they have it) so my opinion thus far is there is no wifi calling option on the i9300 used in the US on tmobile.

Hint" Posted by a t989"? You obviously have a I9300 which doesn't have wifi calling (t-mobile USA one)
You may be referring to Internet calling, which you use a sip to make calls or receive calls. I don't think any UK version has wifi calling, correct me if im wrong.
Edit: I was wrong, Orange has a feature calling Signal Boost.
www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?c=OUKService&pagename=OUKPersonal&cid=1306843176798
UMA/ Signal boost are the same basically
One is hardware based and can carry the call from wifi to cell (UMA) the other cannot do the hand over and is software based (WIFI CALLING)
However only ONE carrier per country is allowed to have it. as I know the they are:
T-Mobile USA
ORANGE UK
Orange FR
Is that USA T-mobile S3 Hacked to allow wifi calling?

Only thing is the S3 isn't supported by orange signal boost.

So Answer is a Clear NO?
No wifi calling or UMA on the S3?
Thats really too bad
(Please note this has nothing to do with SIP clients etc.)
Hoping for a hack

Simple answer, you can't.
Long discussion as to why you can't is here.

Yes you can but it wont be 4g nor LTE, just a 3g .I've been using gophone for the past 8 months with the I9100, the Note, the nexus, the one x and now the S3. OP, in addition to the 50$ a month's you have to add a data package.
http://m.androidcentral.com/att-introduces-new-data-plans-gophone-customers
I'm using the 25$ for 1gig of data. Once you purchased that you have to enter the following apn under mobile network settings:

Then your data will work. It has to be the I9300 not the carriers S3 version. Any other unlocked, unbranded smartphone would also be fine.

So if I'm reading your chart correctly, the international version is not capable of working with any kind of 4g. ? I'm hoping this is the case as I bought one and in order for it to work on my companies plan it needs to be a 3g phone only

Yes. Correct.
There is an upgraded version of this phone, with Double the ram and 4G, but that is the I9305.

Perfect thanks. I have a company issued at&t blackberry curve 3g that I removed the Sim out of and use in my captivate. tried to upgrade that to the infuse long while back but found out it would not work because it was 4g .Long story short, my company would not update my plan to 4g to allow the infuse to work as my company doesn't authorize the use of Android devices. Did some research on international versions and figure I would try one more time. Hope it works out I have a 500 dollar paperweight again that I gave to try and sell and will be back to being stuck with my captivate. Not that that's a bad thing.

not like many carriers have passed 21mbps , or people really need more than that. they data plans are capped
This is why they haven't released jellybean yet

Well the S3 phone came in today. Now I am just waiting for the Sim card cutter to come so I can out my captivate Sim in it and find out if I have data

Hi everyone,
I have a prepaid plan on my T-Mobile One PN07130, updated to 4.4.2 last night as well. It will not connect to LTE, only up to UMTS/H+. My wife's S4 right next to it is connected to LTE with no problem.
The network mode is set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto, my APN is identical to my wife's S4.
Any idea what it might be?
Thanks!
Take out SIM card and put it back in and restart the phone. If that doesn't work you can do a factory data reset.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
The only thing i can think of is APN settings.
Double check them and make sure its exact.
I once made a mistake of putting fast-t_mobile.com and another time put fast.t_moble.com
Thanks guys for the input but I've tried these as well as verified settings.
What I did find different is that her S4 has the network modes listed as LTE/WCDMA/GSM while my One is listing GSM/WCDMA/LTE. Does it mean LTE is used last?
I think I'll just stop by a T-Mo store and see if they can figure it out.
If I have any findings I'll report back.
Mine is listed the same way.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
The order they are listed doesnt have anyhting to do with priority.
LTE will always be given higher priority, then WCDMA then GSM.
Your wifes phone is a Samsung phone so they list them differently.. but the priorities are the same.
I see. Mine was activated fresh while my wife's S4 was activated by porting her number from Verizon. I wonder if she has some kind of provisions on her account that I don't have, therefore she gets LTE while I don't...
I'm hoping to get to a T-Mo store today and get this sorted out.
have you tried calling T-Mobile?
Ha, so I went to a local T-Mo store, the guy looked at the phone, rebooted, checked APN and all other mobile settings. He said all looks good, but no LTE.
He said, lemme go to the back and get a new SIM card. He scanned it into the system, put it in, and BAM! LTE right away!
The SIM I had in there, I purchased directly from T-Mobile, so was my wife's SIM. He said the SIM apparently wasn't capable of LTE... Never heard of such thing.
Anyway, I'm a happy camper now
Thanks all for the suggestions!
Glad its working. Probably a glitch in the system during initial set up. Now that the rep replaced your SIM the system reset its self and all is good..

I have been looking for a gear s for a little while. And since in have the extra cash I'd like to get one. But I'm a little confused. I have seen the international unlocked ones. And I have seen the T-Mobile unlocked ones also. I am looking to add it to my Verizon service so I'd be getting a Sim card from Verizon to put in it. But which one would work? If someone can fill me in I'd greatly appreciate it.

In your case you need to bite the bullet and get the verizon gs if you are going to put it on your verizon plan. The gs have different cell bands.....international/gsm (att/tmobile)/cdma (verizon/sprint). You cannot put a international/gsm gs on a cdma network. Cdma networks are very limited not like gsm where you can unlock...etc..to switch to another gsm carrier with the same cell band.
Thanks dude. Sucks but I guess I'm gonna do it.

But I can goto sprint and buy one if it is cheaper.

Talk to Verizon first if you are going that route and asked just to make sure.. Verizon might not allow cross over from Sprint.
Buy a t mobile one for cheaper and pay the 15 month to T-mobile that's what I did I also have verizon just way cheaper and you also can have root this way

T-Mobile is totally the way to go....
I had someone on here remote unlock my Xfinity s9+. I put in a different sim, enter the code and it says successfully unlocked. Is this the only type of unlock it needs?
Someone asked me if it's network unlocked or sim unlocked. I'm noticing it's all listing Xfinity under all the carrier info, such as, the notification bar and under mobile settings. I am using the phone with straight talk.
Both the Verizon compatible and TMobile compatible sims work. But service cuts out often and kind of sucks.
Can the carrier re-lock it if it goes unpaid? Any info would be great. Also is there a way to remove the Xfinity boot screen?
Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Without root you're stuck with the boot screen for whatever carrier firmware you have installed..
Surprised the Verizon sim is giving you issues since that's who Xfinity uses for their network.
Are you really saving that much using Straight Talk over Xfinity? I mean I pay $45 for unlimited.
Both are giving me issues. Now today I'm not able to recieve calls. When I did recieve a call, I could hear her, but not vice versa. I don't believe there is a way to root this particular model?

It's not rootable yet.
I have a Verizon S9+ that is Unlocked. Is this what your have or is the factory unlocked S9+? I was curious to what networks would work on my Verizon Unlocked S9+.

Flash the Unlocked stock rom, that way it has the correct CSC (TFN) for TracFone NVNOs and it will say Verizon for the carrier.
