Its an app you have recently installed. Uninstall that app and they go away or download airpush blocker to get rid of them. But If I were you guys just uninstall that app I hate those stupid notifications

I'd recommend getting an antivirus software for Android.
Sadly even mobile phones nowaday need such software regardless of OS and manufacturer.
Either avast (free) or Dr.Web Beta (also free) are excellt and additionally report such Spammer apps.

Care to explain what it is? Some kind of jar reader?
It is a new app store competing against the android and amazon markets. It has alot of free apps. But it is not a hacker site or app. I downloaded the app after reading about it from android central or Droid life or one of those. You have to download it from the website like you had to with the amazon store. It is legit but I think the apps are the phone apps but of course we know some of them work on tablets. So far I have downloaded backbreaker but it was messed up and splashtop which worked. I also got beautiful widgets for free. I read a little bit about how the apps developers get paid and it is completely legit. Took me a minute to figure out how to download the app.

Nobody else using this app store? All apps are free, I figured all the amazon app of the day peeps would love this.

it doesn't work for me on my galaxy tab. Can't get to recognize my tab.
Did you go to the Mobile site to download the app? I think it was m.getjar.com
Then you have to add in the security code
Sent from xda premium app
When I go to m.getjar.com it just redirects back to the regular site www.getjar.com
Yeah, I had that problem too using dolphin for pad, I have the setting on desktop so the mobile site wouldn't load. Had to use stock browser to get the app. I guess I could have just changed the setting. Make sure you access the quick download at bottom of the page and put in security code that they give you.

I hate getjar - it's hard to use (download apps) and hard to publish apps (the have ridiculous adding process, and resolution requirements).
Once I figured out how to get the app, downloading apps is no harder then the market or Amazon's store. The app has it's own installer as well.

I am using getjar app. Already downloaded some apps for free.
I have a question though. This getjar app is running in the startup. And startup managers are not able to kill it.
Any idea to remove it from running at startup?

I tried this out. It was alright. Not that many of the Gold apps or whatever they're called interested me though. Maybe in the future if they get some more...

Notfications bar ads

I keep getting ads about free iphone 4 or ipad, any ideas how to get rid of it.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
i'm going to guess its a rouge app. some developers are putting ads into apps now. i believe its called air push that they use, and yes it can be quite intrusive. look up airpush detector in the market and see if that helps
Downloaded it still getting them
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
You've downloaded an app that's causing it. Look at your running apps and that may help pinpoint what's causing it. You can try rebooting and then immediately checking what auto-starts - typically apps that display ads like that will auto-start.
You can download System Tuner free from the Market and open it up and go to Apps > Startups (at the top) and see what's being launched upon startup in there. Be safe and double check anything you disable and a backup never hurts...
It is "mp3 ringtone downloader".

You have to run AirPush Detector while the ad is open. It will let you know where it is coming from. Seems like 99% of the time, people are downloading that stupid "MP3 Music Download" (Its LOADED with fake reviews).
most people get it from some MP3 downloader app. do you have something like that?
I am getting them as well, and I don't have a MP3 music downloader on my phone. I don't want these ads, and I think it's bad that a warning is not given before we download an app that use this bloatware.
Ironically, bloat freezer causes this.

I found out that it was a theme that I downloaded from the market.
I also had this start happening when I installed Crackle. After I removed it, the ads went away.

No, it was a Galaxy S2 theme that I downloaded from the market...
The first thing my bro did with his phone is get mp3 app
AirPush Detector (free in the market might help you but it didn't help me). I found Addons Detector to help me. Install from market (free) then Click on "Addons" then find "push notifications" in the filter list then click on "submit". Hoefully it'll find your problem.
Good luck - hope this helps. That notification bar spam was maddening.
i found one from the ICS theme for golauncher. after i deleted the theme the ads went away.

Honeycomb plagued by ads in notification

I'm losing my mind trying to track down the process causing repetitive ads in my notification tray. Things for new improved market and other randomness. Has any one had this issue and what is causing it? Only started after I updated to HC. Watched running process to monitor but no suspicious activity. Running stock non root.
Sent from my PG41200 using XDA App
Never heard of that before, but any app can post notifications. My guess is you have a bad ad supported application installed. Carefully check your apps. Uninstall any suspicious apps and check your results. When you find the culprit, give it a terrible review in the market and write the developer a nasty gram.
Is there a way to ID the process utilizing the notification tray?

I don't know of anyway that you can monitor which apps are sending notifications other that using the PC development environment which would be far more trouble to set up than just uninstalling apps one by one.

Virus scan?
I remember reading somewhere else there are several apps known for such notification spam. "Music Junk" is one of them, don't remember the rest. I also remember reading that there is an app that lets you control all the permissions (including sending notifications) of most apps. Don't remember the name of that program though.
I would suggest removing most of the extra stuff that you have loaded, and then reinstalling them one by one allowing some time in between to check if you get spammed.
Let us know if you track it down, any info will helps others.
Lol congrats on having airpush infecting your system. try doing a
Code:
pskill | grep airpush
and see if anything comes up. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. Not sure if busybox has pskill though...hmm, we shall find out!
I hat the same problem with a mp3 download app!Uninstalled it and it was gone.Nothing to do with the HC upgrade i think.

No, you're right. This has nothing to do with Honeycomb. It's an app that the OP installed as several posters have mentioned.
Yes, as Indirect said: this is called airpush.
Try this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector
OP, do you have screenshots? Maybe someone has the same app, and gets the same notifications that can help?
I hate random notifications too, especially the Glu games letting me know there are sales on crap I don't want.

The app that you're thinking of is called "Permissions" available in the Android market. I can't remember the app that checks just for the air stuff but I believe the logging test app (developed here at XDA) will find that. If you like it you can buy a license on the Android market to support the developer, full details in the thread just search XDA for it.

[Q] Any idea how to fix this?

My boss has a Rezound with the exact same ROM/kernel etc. that I have listed in my sig (because I set it up for him).
He has had a weird problem that he wants me to fix but I'm not sure what's causing it. Everyday lately, he has had a notification in the left side of the upper task bar that is just a + sign.
If you pull down the notifications it has a link to a porno site, but it doesn't go to his gmail and you can just clear it with no problem.
He says he has never gone to a site like that on his phone because "why bother, the screen it too small anyway" and that he has a both a 17.5" laptop and a 27" desktop monitor that are much better suited to that kind of thing.
I have worked on all his computers and all his phones and this problem ONLY happens on his phone. Does anybody know how to block whatever is doing this??
That has to be an app running in the background.
Check what apps are installed / running.

Chinese notification

I hope somebody can give me some advice on this cos it's driving me potty, I keep getting notifications on my phone and they are in chinese (see screenshots), clearing them is no problem but I'd like to know if there's any way of blocking them, it's not a text or email, just a notification and a little picture of a star at the top of my screen, any suggestions welcomed thanks

The notification appears because you have installed an app with airpush advertisements in your phone.
Install this and do a scan on your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5icm9zbWlrZS5haXJwdXNoZGV0ZWN0b3IiXQ..
Then uninstall the aplication that came out with the result and rate developer with 1 star on google play. (this usually gets the developer to react, if alot of 1 star ratings are received)

Try "addons detector". However that's not a generic ad so it may not detect anything. You just have to go through your recent installed apps and running processes to figure out which app is the culprit.

open adb shell
Code:
