[Q] Need help porting apps between phones??? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Quick question. I am trying to port several apps that are not on the market anymore from my Rooted SGS Vibrant to my Non-rooted SGS3.
I have tried AppMonster Pro, App2SD Pro, Adao File Manager, and Astro File Manager. I even tried sending the apps to the SD using Titanium backup hoping that another app would "see" the .akp files. So far no luck. Or is my problem that I am trying to send apps from a rooted to non-rooted phone?
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

Make sure your putting it in the right folder what i did was put it on the phones memory then used the file manager that came with the phone to install the app. (note* if the app is something for rooted phones it will still install but it just won't function till root is obtain
Give Me a Thanks if i helped

I have checked the file locations using AppMonster Pro. I'll try it again and see if there are any changes.

Uninstalling In-built Applications (or Apps that came with phone)

Hey everyone, i'm currently using a xperia x10i - 2.3.3 - rooted.
I looked around alot and I couldn't find the steps to un-installing applications that came with the phone.
Some Applications that came with my phone include: Hami, Hami Apps, HamiBook, KKBOX and a whole lot of other asian applications (I got my phone from eBay). I don't use any of these applications and they are apps that arent supposed to come with the phone (like messaging etc.)
Anyways I can't uninstall them normally but i really want them gone, my device is rooted and I heard it's possible to remove them. Can someone please help and tell me how to do so?
Thanks!
use the titanium backup apk. Go to the backup and restore in titanium backup and search for the application for delete. click on that and select uninstall! Hope i helped you
Or, mount file system as r/w, and mavigate to /system/apps. Delete the .apk's from there.
Titanium Backup ★ root but also ASTRO File Manager
Titanium Backup ★ root but also ASTRO File Manager.
Titanium Backup to uninstall the apps and future backup an app management .
ASTRO File Manager (for file an Phone management) To find all the data that the apps left behind if you don't delete the data an backups then when you login to the market they could say installed, besides you do not know if they are spammer apps or what. I would just delete them all an data too with out backing them up. And then do a Titanium Backup. Or just do a Sony repair or better yet do a factory reset an do a Sony repair then flash a stock/generic 2.3.3 for your region. Just to be sure that way you know what you have. And here are some links too do all that just read and watch the videos and it's easy too do, The first one is the easiest but you can look at them all to be the judge.

Click to collapse
But the problem is he got the phone off EBAY and most sms/mms have access to all the phone accounts so I think the best thing to do is WIPE ALL reflash/reroot because the phone is rooted and you don't know where/who the phone really came from or who made the apps. Just to be sure i think that would be a good thing to do don't you, I mean if I/you got a hard drive or sold one you/I would wipe it, The phone is the same thing it's just a different type of computer/hard drive.

GPad Pro

Does anyone have the apk for GPad Pro? I use it on my Samsung Intercept and would also like it on my NT (if it decides to work that is.).
You could try just copying it out of /data/app on your phone (e.g. to Dropbox or something similar). I don't know anything about that app, but I've used that process several times.
Agree with ^
Otherwise you would technically be asking for warez. Use TB to back up the app and transfer is to the nook.
Not sure if it has to be rooted to look there but looking in that folder using androzip shows an empty directory. -Edit: Just found out that AndroZip will backup the app. didn't know that before. Thank you.
So, is your phone not rooted? I don't know if that is a requirement to look in that folder (I haven't used an unrooted phone in almost two years). If you're not rooted, the TiBu isn't an option either. Have you rooted and installed the market on your NT? Looking the app up at market.android.com shows it is compatible with all my devices (including my NT with an unmodified build.prop).
Edit: you could also try using Astro file explorer to backup and then copy the APK from your phone's SD card. That would be another non-root option.

[Q] Cannot restore system app(MotoCast) using Titanium Backup

I stupidly uninstalled Motocast and MotoID using TitaniumBackup pro, when I try to restore them back, TiBu just hangs there.
I have tried turning on USB debugging mode and changing the app processing mode in TiBu to auto/Indirect,but no luck.
I have also tried using Root explorer to put the backed up apk into system/apps folder and install from there.
Here is what TiBu backed up:
-com.motorola.motoconnect.apk and
-com.motorola.blur.provider.motorola.apk
and there are no .odex files backed up.
Could this be why I failed to install the apks through root explorer?
If possible, could someone please upload the stock ROM for 651.73.240.XT910.Rogers.en.CA?
I have searched almost anywhere for days but couldn't find a solution.
Any help is much appreciated!!
Figure anything out? I have same issue with another system app.
I believe one of these will work but dont know all the codes as GSM Roms work for multiple regions.

You could put in other regions fast boot
FiLe.. I had a similar problem where I accidentally removed a system file, tibu can't restore it, it just hanged. Installed a fastboot file via rsd, and it worked.. Managed to update via ota.

[Q] Cannot restore music.apk with Titanium Backup Pro

Used Titanium Back apps for several months. Had no system problems. Needed a bit more internal memory free and decided to uninstall the stock gingerbread music app ( which i backup and then I uninstalled it) because I use other music players and it has been listed as being safe to remove w/o system probs.
Samsung galaxy y
Stock 2.3.6 Froyo ROM
Before doing anymore uninstalls I wanted to see if i could restore this. Titanium Backup Pro just hangs indefinitely when trying to restore the stock music.apk app. Have to kill it. Using Root Explorer and ES File Manager, I am able to see the app in the system/app folder after doing this but it does not show in the app drawer.
What I've Tried:
1. Contacted Titanium Support. Great guys and very helpful. Cannot stress this enough and the app is awesome. They suggested taking the apk from the backup files and moving it using adb.
Result: Moved the file but would not show up in app drawer.
2. Found the stock music.apk in system/app folder using Root Explorer
Result: Tried rebooting. Did not work. Tried factory reset from Privacy Menu. Still not in app drawer.
please help guys!!!!!!!!!!!! how to fix this????
Have you tried clearing the data for Music app? When I've restored apps with Titanium, sometimes the data is corrupted or something and I have to clear the data.
You can always try uninstalling it and pushing a new music program with adb.

[Q] Urgent Help needed (deleted apps)

I have a problem that is causing me a lot of stress and have been unable to think of and find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Today a friend of mine was looking through my phone and commented at how my internal storage was almost gone. He said that he could free up some space and so I obliged, as he knew his way around phones quite well. He was looking through a folder and commented that there were some .apk files that could be deleted to free up space. Thinking they were files I had gotten from downloads, I said it was OK to delete them. This was my mistake, as I should have asked where exactly these files were. He deletes the files and my internal storage frees up a few dozen megabytes. This is where everything went to hell. As soon as he finished deleting those .apk files applications start force closing one after another. Thinking it was a glitch he shuts down and restarts the phone. Upon restart, I find ALL my applications gone. The icons are gone and when clicking a spot where an application used to be, it says application not found.
My phone is rooted using DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit.
I HAD Titanium Backup (root) installed before this mess started.
I HAD rootexplorer installed as well.
Upon further investigation, my friend told me that he had deleted these .apk files from the phone memory under a data folder. He couldn't get more specific than that. He accessed these files through rootexplorer.
I seriously don't know what to do and am about to cry.
I thought that by reinstalling google play and titanium backup I'd be able to restore these applications but I can't even install the downloaded .apks from the internet. Tried putting it on my SD card and opening it but it doesn't recognize any program to install. I thought of using the Sony Ericsson PC Companion to install the .apks but don't know how my phone will be affected since it's been rooted using DooMLoRD's method.
Someone please help. I'm still a newbie with all of this and don't really know what I'm doing. Searches for similar problems on the internet haven't proven useful at all. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you
Okay. You need to loose all your data. Take back up of contacts. It should be possible with the stock contacts app. And your msgs if you want.
Then do a factory reset. You will need to download your apps all over again. And if you had taken back up using titanium backup, you will be able to reinstall titanium back up after the factory reset. And you can restore things.
Thanks,
Rick

Your solution worked. Lost some data restoring a Titanium backup a couple days old but it's better than having everything missing. Thanks!
