[Q] Stuck on rooting Transformer Prime 9.4.2.28 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to rooting my Transformer Prime, but I get this thing telling about 0, but telling it no or yes I still get no root. I used this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
I used the latest version which was v1.9. I started the application in Admin mode, but nothing. I uploaded a picture to show a screenshot of what I'm talking about, again it looks like it is not working at all. Thanks ahead for answers to my question.

[Q] Unbrick my Transformer Prime??

Hi all. I've searched many threads for quite a while and have not found a solution addressing this problem.
I rooted my Prime using this method. After I rooted it, it seemed to work great. However, I installed VM Heap Tool and restarted the tablet from within the app. Now, I'm stuck in bootloop.
Is my Prime bricked?
It looks like the same problem that others were having with the original firmware when the Prime was first available. So, I don't know if it's Asus or the root or the VM Heap Tool that did this.
I use this thing for work every day.
Any help would be very appreciated!

[Q] .14 stuck me in a bootloop. Got a link for .15?

I did the OTA for .14 where upon my Prime immediately started an infinite bootloop. I tried re installing .14 with the manual sd card method, but it changed nothing. I'd like to try again with .15 but ASUS hasn't updated their page with .15, nor have they responded to my help request within 48 business hours. Does anyone have a link for .15 I can try? Or .11 for that matter so I can downgrade?
Edit: Just realized I posted to the wrong section. I am dumb. Sorry Mods! Go ahead and move it.
If your unlocked then Here you go.
I saw that. I'm not and don't plan to. 8\
Thanks though
I have the exact same problem, and seems like ASUS is not really worried about us ... what are they waiting to finally put online the complete firmware, it's been 4 days since the last OTA ...
Still no firmware and still no response on my support request. Time to take it to Twitter I guess. Got me help when my ISP was trying to screw me.

It's been over a week that my device is a deluxe paperweight, they're really starting to piss me off ...
Finally !!

Did it work for you? I'm downloading it now

I downloaded the US version. How do you install it? it's just a zip file with no instructions or executables. There is no instructions listed on the support site either. Thanks.
Finally, my prime is back to life!
Method known as the EP201_SDUPDATE.zip method :
Download the firmware or your choice on the asus download page. It has to be the same version or an upgrade of your current version. You can't downgrade using this method.
Once downloaded, extract the zip. Inside, there's another file file.
Rename this one into EP201_SDUPDATE.zip and put it in the root of a microSD card.
Put the microSD card into the tf201.
As soon as your device boots (or reboots), hold the Volume Down key until some text shows up on the top left of the screen. Then, press Volume Up once within 5 seconds.
Some more text will be displayed. Wait a bit and ... there's three scenario here :
A) A droid with a blue diamond and a progress bar is showed on the screen for a while, then the device reboots and a long progress bar is upgrading or changing firmware zone. You Win.
B) The device reboots like nothing happened. It means you have a very bad reboot problem. I had it myself using .14. The device reboots so frequently that there's not enough time for it to load the rescue upgrade program. Solution : try again, repeat the steps to enter rescue mode. Eventually, you'll get it (took me 15 tries or so to get it)
C) You see the same thing as A) but then there's a dead droid with a red "!" symbol. It means your microSD card is not inside or the file you've put at the root of it is not valid (no downgrade!!)
So using this method, I was able to upgrade to .15 and my prime is back to life right, syncing all the programs right now, that's great
Yeah, I used that method too. Unfortunatly while trying to fix it the other day I wiped it. 8(
It's running, but now I have another problem. I have no wifi. >_<
Yep, that did the trick. Thanks!
Hello! I have scenario you don't have on your list. My TF201 just keeps repeating the ASUS screen over and over and when I try to go into recovery all I get is the GREEN Android with and GREEN Triangle and Exclamation mark. Have you heard of anyone with this type of symptom?

Have you put the right file at the root of your microSD? It's the zip file that is in the zip file you downloaded from ASUS.
Must be renamed EP201_SDUPDATE.zip
And you can't downgrade using this method. Use a different SKU or an upgrade.
It's supposed to work if done properly, give me more details on what you're trying to do (version and sku of firmware you have on tf201 and sku and version of firmware you're trying to use)

Thank you for your reply. Here is what I did:
My TF201 is a JP version and originally had HC on it. I read through XDA to find that I am able to use the ICS update from a different SKU so I updated to ICS US Version and all was great except that I could not use my Keyboard Dock since it a JP version Keyboard. Then I noticed we were able to put CWM on the TF201 so I went ahead and did that (I think this may be the reason why I can`t revive my prime.). I wanted to go back to HC so that I can use my Keyboard Dock again (I had already backed my Blob from the time it was still on HC JP Version). I googled the HC US Version and did the downgrade as posted on this site, all went well as it was showing the progress bar of the downgrade. But when I rebooted all I got was the ASUS Logo loop and when I try to access recovery I would see the Android Robot and a progress bar at the bottom then it would suddenly give me the green exclamation mark. I asked around here and was shown your thread so I gave it try using the latest ICS update for US version since that was the SKU of the HC I tried to downgrade to. I followed the instructions on this thread and to no avail will my Prime revive. I have tried about 10 times over and over but would still get the same Android Robot with Exclamation mark. Shall I keep trying your method or is there a possibility my Prime is bricked for good. Any assistance would be great and I am willing to try anything to get my Prime revived again, don`t want to go out buy a new one if I can revive my Prime.
Hmmm that's weird, maybe its because you unlocked your bootloader ... maybe ask to people who also did unlockthe bootloader ...

Yes it is very wierd. I get no errors like most people do. I think it is the bootloader that is causing the problem. I am going to try to run ADB logcat to see if anything pops out. If I can only pin point the problem I may be able to figure it out or .... not. I am going to ask around some more and keep trying your method. Thanks for trying to help me out! Greatly appreciated!!!
EDIT: I have tried everything to revive my Prime, I pretty much give up. I have asked ASUS for assistance in getting it repaired but have no reply from them yet.
I had a similar issue (stuck at the Eee Pad screen) and used this method to resolve it.
It is worth noting that the Micro SD Card must be formatted as FAT32, not FAT as suggested on some sites. I wasted a day or more on this using a FAT formatted card.

Looping EEE Pad Screen. Suggestions on where to go from here.

I received a Prime that loops EEE Pad screen. I don't know the history on it which I know might make things difficult. Whenever I boot to the boot loader, I can confirm that I see 9.4.2.15.
I put 9.4.2.21 on the external SD card and tried to push it to the tablet. It went through the process but booted back to the loop.
Any suggestion on where I might go from here? I've seen some threads mention recovery with NVflash, but isn't that something that has to be done with a backup that you've previously created of the tablet?
Also, on these primes, how do I boot to fast boot? I'm used to booting into bootloader and seeing a USB icon but this tablet doesn't have that feature.
Wait, now that I am thinking about it. Would the USB icon being missing in bootloader indicate somebody tried a JellyBean update on this and potentially failed?
I realize XDA might not have the most support for the Primes anymore. Is there another place that I might try?
There is a thread that has a few potential fixes for this, as I also used it to fix a similar problem although mine was still on ics boot loader. I will try to locate it for you and post here.
Here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088

Tf201 Help me please.

Hi,
I recently unlocked and rooted my device. Asus Transformer Prime (TF201).
I tried to boot it into recovery, wouldn't boot the rom, kept freezing, hard reset it. Then it booted into the official android version, I was running 4.1.1, build # 10.4.2.18
Then I went into recovery, and I was like "oh yeah, I remember reading that it has to be a fresh install, that way there's no incompatibility". So I decided to press the down button until I got to erase everything in the menu, I did it. Erased it, device reset itself, and now it's stuck in the main loading screen, where it says Asus, this device is unlocked in the top left, and the nvidia symbol in the bottom right. The device wont boot into anything, not even recovery settings. Is there a fix? Or did I just make my tablet a paper weight?
I tried searching the web, I found all these articles, and frankly I'm very overwhelmed, and didn't know what to do or which one to read. I just got the tablet as a Valentines Day gift from my wife, and I would have to have ruined it. Please help me.
EDIT: I got my device to appear as "APX" in devices and printers, it's an unknown device. But I'm still lost.

There is only hope, if you can manage to get into bootloader screen by pressing power + vol down.
APX mode would only help you, if you had pulled your nvflash files.

Hi, u can follow the steps listed in this blog. I just installed CM11 using the same steps over the weekend. U need to perform a factory reset and wipe the cache after u installed the ROM using the CWM recovery. If not, it will be struck in the boot screen with the arrow going in circle. Below is the blog address:

Good luck flashing!!

Hi,
I've same problem!
I tried to flash to android 5.0. I tried many things via twrp and now, thats it:
My TF201 stucks also at bootscreen and the recovery menu (Power on + Vol.Down) won't work. That means I'm not able to get in fastboot mode or something like that. The only possiblity to switch the device off at the moment is to unplug the battery
I've searched for a solution in many boards, but unitl now i haven't found anything.
At the moment it seems that the only possibility we have, is to change mainboard, or to try to connect via an external programmer (for flashing the memory), but that would be for sure not the easiest way, or it could be also nearly impossible.
So at the moment I'm praying to god, that someone will have another solution and will post it here, because otherwise I can cast away my loved transformer prime :crying:
Looking forward to hear any news about that topic :fingers-crossed:

You say this "My TF201 stucks also at bootscreen and the recovery menu". Does that mean you can still access recovery (TWRP)?

No, thats the problem, since yesterday it is not possible, because I tried to flash back to an older version of TWRP, and since that I can't access RCK and then I tried to wipe data, and since that, I even can't access to recovery console (Power on + Vol.Down).
That means I can't do anything at the moment, I see only the asus boot logo and that's it.
So I have no idea to communicate with the tablet at the moment.
The problem was, that I was not really careful, because my opinion was, that it's impossible to brick the whole tablet, but now it's gone!
Is that the end of the story, or do you know therefore a solution?
Regards,
Jim
Seems that you are in APX mode. Hope you have your blob + nvflash and wheelie to restore the bricksafe.img. (It saved my TF when i was in your position)
Good luck

Unfortunately unless you have nvflash backups then you will have to get the board replaced. Forget contacting Asus as they would charge you more than the tablet is worth. Try and find one with a smashed screen on ebay etc cheap that still works that you can swap the board out from.

[Q] Need help with the ASUS unlock utility app, accept button missing.

My husband and I were in the process of trying to flash a new ROM onto our TF201, but hit an issue with the ASUS unlock utility app. We've had it for a few years and it's getting pretty slow and non-responsive even for simple stuff. My husband suggested we try AndroWook based on his last round of research. The tablet has already been rooted in the past, so he started first with unlocking it.
He was following along with wwjoshdew's video and at 1:47 into the video where you open the app and hit accept, but the screen looks different on our tablet. Everything in the top part looks the same, but the screen ends with the last chunk of text at the bottom, but no "Agree" check box and no button at the bottom. We can't scroll or change the size of the screen in any way to see the rest of the window.
I carefully back traced the steps (wasn't much at that point) and found in the ASUS support page, the utility description says
Version V6
Description Unlock Device App: Unlock boot loader(Only works with TF201 ICS OS)
Notice: 1. Only suitable for Andriod 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS version.
So I double checked the tablet and it's running 4.1.1.
Is this why the app doesn't show the button?
Do we need to get the tablet back to 4.0 before moving on? And if so, how?
Is there another process you guys would recommend?
Thanks for any help!

It works on 4.1.1 too
I think the problem is your tablet's rooted status.
Try to restore factory settings
Then unlock your prime
Root it
Flash custom recovery
Finally flash custom rom
I hope it helps
