Galaxy S III Pairing to Audi A4 2008 Car Kit - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning all,
I've got an Audi A4 and a Samsung Galaxy SIII, trying to pair the phone to the inbuilt car kit. It will pair fine, but once I have connected the phone to a cars hands free kit by pairing the devices I'm then asked by the device for permission to access the phones contacts and call logs. I press OK to allow this but the message keeps coming back and will not access the contacts.
Has anyone found a fix for this?

Next time you get prompted you will notice a check box to stop prevent it asking again. I checked that and havn't been prompted since on my Audi.

Bluetooth Disconnects in car

Hi as I have found out the SGS 3 is a nightmare when it comes to bluetooth in car, does anyone have a ROM that will allow my phone to sync the contacts as apparently there is a permission issue in the standard sgs3 that will not allow my phone to connect to my car as it rejects it everytime the pop up comes saying "do you want to copy contacts"
Would prefer a ROM as stock as standard if possible?
Thanks
PS the phone works ok and stays connected as long as you don't accept the msg about allowing contacts.

Gear S not reconnecting via bluetooth

I have the Gear S and the Note 4 (both through T-Mobile). I have noticed that when I move out of bluetooth range of my phone, the watch connects remotely so that I can take calls on the watch, but when I come back within bluetooth range of the phone the watch will not automatically reconnect via bluetooth. It remains connected remotely (even when the phone and the watch are sitting right next to one another). Am I doing something wrong, or am I just going to have to reestablish the bluetooth connection manually?

It not gonna reconnect right away. Blue tooth would have to be scanning non stop. Then people will complain about battery dying fast. Also it takes about 10 min for it to search and connect depending on your phone.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
Thanks a lot. That explanation actually makes a lot of sense.
That's not quite how Bluetooth works, however this fix for this issue is straight forward.
Un install Samsung Gear from your phone. Reset your Gear S, install Samsung Gear, reconnect phone and restore data.
Bluetooth should re connect within seconds after you walk away from your phone.
This broke because of an issue in an update patch to the Samsung Gear software. The patch does not upgrade the software properly, and a re installation is required.
I had the same issue with my Note Edge and Gear S.
Fixed now though.
I had the same issue and re installed yesterday and it connected. What I found to be annoying was I had to completely delete Samsung app store from note or I couldn't install apps from Sammy. It would download then during install process it would fail with error code -112 . It may have something to do with when I fix permission in recovery but it only started doing that after latest update. It's annoying but I guess the temp solution is easy to fix
I have similar problem with bluetooth. When I turn off bluetooth and then turning on the Gear won't to connect. On the phone request pair code for bluetooth appears, but on Gear appears: GT-I9301I is attepting to connect to your Gear. To connect to GT-I9301I, the gear will be reset to its factory settings..When the device is reset, it connect properly and everything work fine until I turn bluetooth off. Then again want to reset the device. My Gear is SM-R750A and phone is GT-I9301I. I try to re-install Gear Manager, reset phone, reset Gear, but still have tis problem.

I have made a thread describing how to fix this....In a nut shell you need to completely uninstall gear mgr and galaxy apps and delete the apps in gear manager under the manage apps then click all which is beside the updates tab. Also uninstall all updates to galaxy apps. This will fix issue. here is the xda thread link. Follow it to a t and you will be good l. Let me know your outcome.

I try this, but didn't work. I think the problem is Bluetooth of the phone, becouse I paired Gear S with two different phone and work fine. Also when I try to pair phone with bluetooth in car it appears same problem - connect only first time. Is there any way to re-install the Bluetooth or to change driver or something like that.
Try deleting data in app manager for anything bluetooth related. Factory reset phone if that doesn't work. If you are on a custom rom reinstall rom and see if that helps, research if a different kernel works better. Good luck
Turn off "Use Remote Connection" in the Gear S app settings on your phone. Problem solved
Actually, ignore my previous response, that did not solve the issue.
What did, however, was unpairing then reparing the Gear S to my phone. No problems since

I had the same issue and used the suggestion above and it didn't work.
I uninstalled on the device, reset gear, then reinstalled on device and reconnected...bluetooth did connect. I walked away came back and the gear didn't reconnect automatically. I had to reconnect from the phone side. THIS SUCKS!!!
Anyone have any other suggestions? i have gear s and NOTE 3 (android 5.0)

Note 5 and Gear S not reconnecting automatically
My New Note 5 has the same problem, not reconnecting after phone and watch are back together. I have to manually flip on phone use in bluetooth settings. This is still after factory resetting phone and watch. Is there any updated fixes

gear s cyanogenmod os unable to connect to galaxy s4
Hello
I have installed cyanogenmod 12.1 in my gear s. Now trying to pair the gear s by installing samsung gear app in mobile (S4) but mobile is unable to find my gear s. then i tried android wearable app. In android wearable it detects the gear s but for long time unable to sync the data. I also found that bluetooth gets disconnected (either from gear s or S4 that unable to understand). Please help how do i pair my S4 with gear s. DO i have to install any software in gear s?
Hello someone managed to solve even me notes 3 and gear s when disconnected with the bluetooth will not re connects

[REQ] [Q] Gear S & Note Edge Connection/Sync First Time Issues

Do I need to have a active sim card in it, it connected to gear manager got 4 files pushed to it and then my note edge sat there for at least 30 minutes I guess saying connecting to gear s still when I got back from leaving them at home and running to the store.
Gear Manager shows the Gear S but its just a blank Orange titled and white bodied app page with nothing on it however after rebooting the gear s it still shows me the welcome setup page.
What can I do, I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand more times, Gear Manager and Samsung really made a epic fail at the software and syncing side of these damn watches, made it such a pain in the ass that they almost aren't worth owning cause of it.
Really guys, no one??? XDA's evergrowing helpful community at it's finest!!!
I tried resetting all the gear manager related app's on my phone, but now it won't go through initial setup it just loads Gear Manager and then asks me to choose my Gear device either Galaxy Gear or Gear S
Then when I choose Gear S it loads a new screen that acts as if it froze and never fully loaded with a orange title header that says Gear S and a blank white body
Gear Assistant and Old Gear Manager is giving me a bluetooth pairing confirmation pin.... Getting a lil closer, but then out of nowhere something happened and bluetooth started turning off in the middle of everything on the Gear and now I'm not getting the pairing pin again and getting bluetooth timed out error message.
Had to factory reset my Note Edge in order to get it successfully connect in gear manager(Latest version)... Which is stupid.

Looking to pay person or shop to make Gear S Work On Pixel

I have seen various fourms where people managed to root their Gear S and then load CM 12 on it or other methods to get it to work on nonsamsung phones. I have rooted a few phones and loaded some ROMS before ( this site is great), but can't seem to get anywhere on this Gear S. It was bought as a Christmas present for when I had a S5 Active, but am about ready to just chunk it in the trash. I can't seem to get any other ROM to load on this phone or get it to talk my Pixel. Does anyone know if this has been successfully done and or anyone who does this for hire or a shop that does. Would work out the details, but trying to figure out if I can just pay to get this watch working or if I just need to go buy Android Wear watch. Thanks in advance.
Hey, i'll help you
i had the same problem as you, the samsung manager app on the play store wont sync with the watch no matter how many times you try, so this is what i did to make it work:
1 if your gear s is still stuck on the set up and is requesting to open the gear manager app on your phone. Go to the second screen on your watch and you will see a samsung logo on the left corner, tap on it for about 20 to 30 times after this you will get the bluetooth adress show at the bottom of the screen, then tap and hold the logo again for 3 seconds, and done you will skip the setup procces.
2 go to settings on the watch and go to bluetooth and select make my watch visible, then on your phone open the bluetooth conf. and sync it this will allow you to receive calls and make calls from your watch.
3 to get the notifications on your watch you will have to turn on hotspot on your pixel and then go to the wifi settings on your gear s and connect it to your phone via wifi.
thats it you got your gear s work around this non samsung compatibility issue. i hope this help you.
i love my gear s but now i got a oneplus 3t kinda bummer that samsung wont make all their smartwatch compatible with all phones. good luck.
Problem with Gear S (and I had same problem so I asked Samsung) is, that u can pair it ONLY with Galaxy S lineup (for 100% compatibility - call, sms, installing apps, etc.). If you have different phone than Galaxy S and you downloaded app from google play, you can't pair them with it. The google play app is only for Gear S2, Gear S3, Gear FIT and older. But not for Gear S.
You can get them working, but it will never have all functions. In other words, 100% compatibility is impossible.

Parrot MKi9200 with Galaxy S2

I've recently upgraded my ROM on my S2 i9100 phone from the standard 4.1.2 official to various unofficial ROMs. None of these allow me to use the hands-free features of the MKi9200 device. All of them will pair with the Parrot but the phone-book does not sync. Pressing the green button on the Parrot (which should allow you to voice dial) simply gives the message "phonebook is busy please wait".
I have reached out to Parrot without any joy to date even after 8 emails each way. My symptoms to them were along the following lines.
"1. The phone pairs with the MKi9200 still but still does not automatically connect when I get into the car.
2. After pairing the phone, the menu item “Bluetooth/paired phones” is still greyed out. It used to have my phone listed there before I upgraded. I guess that this is why the MKi does not automatically connect.
3. As noted above, I have to manually connect my phone now, whereas before I upgraded the smartphone Android version, it connected automatically. When it does connect, it says it is synchronising for a second or two.
4. I can dial a number using the “Phonebook” on the MKi device using the central knob and the menu system. I cannot use the green button as it always says the “phonebook is busy please wait”, even after 15 minutes.
5. When I finish a call, the iPod music does not restart automatically and I cannot start it manually using the “Play” button. The green play icon appears for a few seconds then goes away. I can play a track/playlist by selecting it from the menu system and the central knob.
6. I can play music from my iPod through the MKi9200 but when I press Pause, the red “pause” icon appears and the MKi “freezes”. I have to reboot the MKi to get it to work again.
7. I have tried various options for pairing the phone such as “force AT sync” but none have worked yet."
Any clues from anyone would be very welcome. I've had the Parrot for nearly 10 years and love it. I know it still o=works as I can pair an old phone (with my SIM card in it) and it works flawlessly. There is clearly something about unofficial ROMs that it doesn't like.
For info, I have always installed Micro GAPS or lower and have tried disabling bluetooth scanning and the software "Bluetooth File Transfer (Android)" by Medieval (versions 5.2 and the latest).
Parrot say the MKi9200 is not compatible with Android 8 but I have tried various other ROMs below that with no success.
Apologies if this post is in the wrong place but it seems to be an unofficial ROM thing to me. I feel there is something in these ROMs which is not compatible with my Parrot and was hoping someone would know what that was.
