Hi all
I have a Fujitsu ARROWS X F-05D, which running Android 2.3.5. It has 4GB internal storage and supports microSD card.
I tried to format the phone’s internal storage through Windows 7, the operation was failed during the formatting process. After that, I cannot access either the phone’s internal storage or micorSD card. Both of them show “Unavailable” under Settings Storage [Built-in storage] and [SD card]. The [Delete data in built-in storage], [Mount SD card] and [Erase SD card] were dimmed. I had performed a phone hard reset but the problem persists.
If I connect the phone with PC, windows can recognize there has USB mass storage attached and assigns two drive letters accordingly. However, if I want to access either of them, windows will ask to insert a storage media. In addition, the phone will not prompt to ask user to confirm connect the phone as a USB mass storage.
Without external storage, most apps cannot be functioned normally or simply can’t install at all. Could anyone please kindly advise how to fix it?
Regards,
Boy

Hi Jiffer,
Reflash a stock rom is a reasonable try. However, my phone is an unpopular model outside Japan, and I don't know Japanese to looking for help in Japanese forum. As such, I am unable to obtain either stock rom or custom rom for a try.
As a turnaround, I want to know how to locate the phone's internal storage and how to format it through adb.

Was a Solution ever found this problem? I have the exact same issue.
Also reflashing the rom with a stock is not an option, as it requires the internal memory to do so.

I did solve the problem at last but unfortunately forget how to fix it since my handset was damaged by water linkage after a very short period.
I only remember the problem lies on the corruption of partition table. I replaced a file (sorry, forget what file again!) through adb. After reboot, the system prompts me something wrong in the partition table and asks me to format internal storage, after that. The device resumes normal.

Any solution?
a bit of a resurrection post but I just resolved mine, I deleted the data/ cache of the contacts and contact storage.
I also purged every contact I any program I have and then reimported them into one program. I let it all populate and everything was fine.

Also resurrecting an old thread lol. So should i pull the internal sd card using adb and push it back after deleting it? Or would that be crazy.

Can someone verify in Windows explorer the size of the interal SD card.
I fear I screwed it up by using Rom Manager to format the SD Card and would like to see if my phone is reporting the full capacity of the card or if it has been partitioned by Rom Manager.
Thanks.
According to my Vibrant, the internal storage seems to be just under 13GB.
Mine is just above 13Gb.. Why do you ask?

Internal SD - 13.03GB
I ask because no program will format my internal SD card.
Froyo no brick does not repartition the device.
I have used ODIN with and without "repartition" and it always just leaves the files and partition structure the same.
Is there an ADB command that will manually restructure the internal SD and format it. From there I should be able to ODIN back in to flash to stock.
Everytime I do the ODIN to get back to stock, no matter what settings or rom I use, it will not repartition.
I also always get a checksum error when I boot into recovery mode.
I was never able to flash a VOODOO rom either.
I get an error that it is not compatible??? Maybe because the NAND has been resized? I did verify that I do not have the large NAND.
maybe someone could help by running a "df" on a root shell (termina, adb shell, etc.) and post the result so I can compare mine to yours
here is what i get

Yeah, figured I need a real android sdk pro to figure out how to get this straight.
I see the 13gb and that looks good, just wondered if all the other partitions are like everyone else.
I think I selected a swap file size from the partition sd in clockwork. Maybe that swap is the wrong size....who knows???
Thanks anyway though
Hi. I have just this morning started seeing 'USB Storage Damaged' in the notifications drop menu.
Both my internal storage and sd card do not appear under settings and storage. All it says is unavailable. I know the external as card is thankfully ok, because I tried it in my brothers s2 and my files, folders, videos were there.
Does anyone know how to fix this error, my internal 16gb storage or recover the data??
Thank you for any help.
Well if it is really not damaged then you could try do a Virus checking by connecting it to a PC, if that doesn't do then try to Hard Reset the phone (factory reset). If still doesn't work then you are unlucky and probably the Internal Storage is corrupted.
Regards.
Try RECUVA to recover the data .

What OS are you using?
If you run linux or have access to a machine with linux when you plug the S II into the usb port, it should show both drives internal sdcard and the external sd. Then is just a question of coping the files across from the internal sdcard to the PC and do a factory reset on the phone.
Hope it works for you.

Well if the phone is not able to access the sdcard your only option as far as I can see, is to try and access the card via a PC.
I know that on linux I have easy access to both cards on my system, and can run fschk to see what problems it reports, on the internal storage.
But a word of warning, only check for errors, as the sdcards have a different file structure than ordinary hard disks and it could damage the card permanently.
Sorry that I have no solution to your problem other than the above.
still no luck
anyone else have any idea as to what i could possibly do/try.
thank you for everyones help
The weird thing is, when the filesystem is corrupted in any way the OS just reformats it.
So there must be something different.
What exately do you see when you connect the S2 to the PC in mass storage mode? (NOT Kies mode)
Do you see the drives? Any content?
Either it's something with the drivers in the FW or it might be a hardware defekt....
I also encounter this issue today. My Swiftkey problem starts to have problem, so i reboot the phone and right away it tell me the SD-CARD is damage.. It gives me option to FORMAT the card but i dont want to do that yet until i can backup my pictures and other data on it.
Any help guys? What did you do OP?
I see this turning into another Samsung quality failure. I too have this issue, first the 32gb external SD, than the internal USB and now again the external SD. Damn!
This can't be a hardware problem, must be software/OS related.
Luckily I have a backup on my Linux Mint PC so I formated all those suckers but 2x external SD can't be a coincidence.
Question is, now what?
i think if you dont mount or dismount the USB storage correctly when you insert in the USB cable, it will eventually lead to flash memory failure.
One more.
Same problem here. Good to hear there are a few cases, I could not figure out what I did wrong.

I haven't sync or connected the phone to a PC for ages so that could not be it.
It sucks not being able to do a backup or access an old one now.
damn lost all my pics!!!!!!
what do you guys use after this incident for backing up automatically on wifi? I have all my pics automatic upload to Google+ private album when plugin charging over 3G
SugarSync
I had to format the SD card after all and I know now why it happened to me.
I bought a extra battery on eBay, and let's just say it is not the same quality as Samy's so when using it it would shot off the phone without warning when about 5% juice level left. This unexpected whiting down eventually led to memory's corruptedness.
And to answer question on previous post I use Sugarsync and thanks to it I didn't lost a thing.
I am having the same problem and as xxlikquidxx it also happened to me in connection with a swiftkey update/failure!??
Did any of you figure out a way to fix it? I have not formatted yet but did that fix the problem for you? Yes I know it is not the fix I would like either!
I noticed that my SD card is not accessible either. Not on the phone and not if I connect my phone to my computer in USB mass storage mode. But if I take out the SD card and puts it into my card reader it works perfectly. Could it be that there is not a problem with the memory (internal or SD) but only with the mounting? Could it be that a reset without a USB storage format could do it? Or does it make sense that because it cant mount the USB storage then it cant mount the SD card either?
Thanks in advance.
Damned....the same thing happened to me after a normal reboot.
Anyone knows is there a proper fix for this? Or is a trip to the service center necessary?
Need help/advice. I updated my phone with the newest Fresh Evo LTE 5.3.1 and the radio firmware. And after rebooting...noticed the Damaged Phone Storage notification. At first I thought it was no big deal cause it was the micro sd card. But then I found out it is the data/second partition on the internal phone storage. I tried to erase the phone storage...but that does not work. I am thinking of trying to restore back to stock and hoping the stock image restores the second partition.
Do you know what might of happened? And any options on trying to fix this problem?
You most likely need to reformat it. Best method so far seems to be booting into twrp and mounting the internal sd to PC and formatting it. Unless there's another cause, I don't know of any issues so it would help to wait for someone who has has to deal with anything similar before taking my advice

Reboot to TWRP and look for mount, make sure it's set to internal and mount storage, in Windows a dialog should pop up saying that the card needs to be formatted

is there any way to UNDO this operation?? I mean can we UNFORMATthe internal storage ???
really need your advices and solutions
thanks..
Yes solution is simple.
Go back in time.
Backup data like any sane person would have done.
If your files were that important why didnt you do simple things like make backups to your PC or even just via dropbox app that automatically uploads photo's via wifi?
Try a partition recovery software.
If you cant fix I have no sympathy since its easy to make backups of needed data. No excuse really.

I did give you expert advice. I am an expert in backing up my data in case of device problem or if I somehow decide to format my card.
As I said earlier try a partition recovery software.
Expert Advice:
Follow XDA rule #1 and use search. We have many topics about users formatting cards and then needing to recover data. This is a non-device specific topic so search whole site or even google.
Well you coud try Testdisk and Photorec
the site is cgsecurity
Or option 2 try recuva with deep scan enabled, also the option to scan for lost or damaged files should be turned on.

- Connect your phone trough USB cable and activate mass storage mode
- Depending on what files are lost (probably photos and videos), look for format recover software (Like recovery my files)
- Use it on mounted SD card
PS:
If you have used some part of your internal sd card after formatting, you probably lost some files forever, if you haven't yet, DON'T USE IT BEFORE RECOVERY !!

Give some app suggestions is fine. Once we have those, we know the key terms to search for.
I've tried cg-security apps, they're made for Windows/Linux/BSD etc, but won't install on android.
I tried aidfile installed on Windows but it won't detect the phone internal storage either.
I have all my photos.
I lost a database document that is 760mb. Most backupsoftware (Skydrive, Asus Webstorage, DropBox etc) won't upload it.
I sent the phone for warranty and they formatted my phone, and lost that document. I just need that back. It is in internal storage, there is no sd card on this android.
Try Recuva but don't get your hopes up. Not likely to work. If they've formatted the phone, it's gone. Android isn't like Windoze where 'files aren't really deleted'.
Edit - Also, beware of some (all ?) of the 'data recovery' apps on Google Play. Many (certainly the several I've tried) of the non-paid versions will go through their process of checking, and tell you that your file can be recovered, but you need to get the paid version of the app. You pay for the app, and then find they tell you the file recovers OK (funny about that, right ?) but is 'corrupted' (which is basically bull****, the file can't be recovered at all, but you paid for the app so they have to give you something, right ?) & useless. This scenario is highly likely in the case of a file like the one you're talking about if you do get suckered in by those apps.
Hans Brown said:
You can't undo the formatted, but the data was not really gone, you still can use some data recovery tool to recover your photos.
You can try this guide about how to recover photos from Samsung Galaxy S II.
I recommend you backup your photos with Google Photos, it has 15GB free storage, I think it's enough for your 1 year's photos.

Wow, the guy posted 4 and half years ago, that's too late, don't you think? :silly:
Anyway, Late is better than never
Wanted to pull this out of the newbie thread, not because it doesn't belong there (i'm certainly still an XDA newb) but because hold IRC-chat is it hard to keep up with all those posts...guess I'm too much of a noob for the newbie post?
TL;DR:
My TF700T has TWRP functioning, but no Android OS installed. Unfortunately TWRP doesn't seem to recognize anything in the USB/SD card ports. See below for what I've tried.
Full Story:
I was trying the whole new ROM on my tablet (ASUS TF700T) thing. I have the recovery part setup just fine TWRP, but I made the foolish mistake of wiping the ENTIRE internal storage, including my backup.
Certainly not a good start, but easy enough to put the new image (I was going for crombie-kk) on an SD card & load from that, except for my problem.....
TWRP doesn't seem to notice my SD Card (or USB) storage devices. It lists "external storage" as one would expect, but it's always 0MB and no files, regardless of whether a device attached. I know the devices are good, and I know the USB & SD card ports were working the day I started the rooting/romming process--so i'm reluctant to think they coincidentally died that exact day.
I've tried SD cards (both full & micro) in both SD card slot & USB port, as well as USB sticks of varying sizes. I've even tried various file formats on these storage devices, but I can't get anything other than 0MB.
Any advice on how to get SOMETHING, ANYTHING, on my device? Obviously a custom ROM is the goal but even if I could go back to a stock device--at least the external storage would work and I could go from there!
Thanks for the help in advance

If I understand your problem corectly you have to go into Recovery and mount your sd card first.
I'n not sure where in the TWRP recovery exactly is but there is surely a menu 'mount'.
In there you have to mount your sd card first.
Hope it solve your problem.

I should have mentioned that. I have tried mounting (under the "mount" menu), it lists "Micro SDcard" as an option, but won't select (it just flashes & stays unchecked) when I attempt to select it.

I don't think I can, "adb devices" or "fastboot devices" does not seem to see my table, when it is attached to the computer. I went to "Mount" --> "ADB Sideload" so the tablet is "listening" for the adb push....but as I said, adb.exe cannot see my tablet
So did I brick this tablet beyond repair?
Is there anything I can do?
What about factory reset?
HALP!
And thanks, for everything I've gotten so far and hopefully everything to come.
Factory reset won't help in this situation at all.
