Hello ,so i have samsung galaxy s2 with miui jb rom..
i connected an pendrive through usb otg cable but when mounted it shows it is corrupted and need to be formatted.
so i confirmed this operation and it starts to format..
after format
VOILLA MY INTERNAL SD CARD GOT FORMATTED INSTEAD OF USB ONE WHICH I HAVE MOUNTED THROUGH USB OTG CABLE..
I have no backup and i have lost all my data on internal sd storage... photos, music, videos, other data such as text documents , pdf documents , tar files of recovery etc.
its very very sad for me as i have collection of all memories as photos and videos...
I'm very tensed..
please help me to recover back all my data ..
after format there is no data stored on internal storage means no over write of any data so i have that my data can be backuped up..
i've tried couple of softwares to backup my data but one of softwares called "photorec" is able to recover only 2.5GB and also in random named folders with random data...
everything is finished..
please... it will be great of you to solve my this problem..
is there any way to UNDO this operation?? I mean can we UNFORMATthe internal storage ???
really need your advices and solutions
thanks..

Yes solution is simple.
Go back in time.
Backup data like any sane person would have done.
If your files were that important why didnt you do simple things like make backups to your PC or even just via dropbox app that automatically uploads photo's via wifi?
Try a partition recovery software.
If you cant fix I have no sympathy since its easy to make backups of needed data. No excuse really.

I did give you expert advice. I am an expert in backing up my data in case of device problem or if I somehow decide to format my card.
As I said earlier try a partition recovery software.
Expert Advice:
Follow XDA rule #1 and use search. We have many topics about users formatting cards and then needing to recover data. This is a non-device specific topic so search whole site or even google.

Well you coud try Testdisk and Photorec
the site is cgsecurity
Or option 2 try recuva with deep scan enabled, also the option to scan for lost or damaged files should be turned on.

- Connect your phone trough USB cable and activate mass storage mode
- Depending on what files are lost (probably photos and videos), look for format recover software (Like recovery my files)
- Use it on mounted SD card
PS:
If you have used some part of your internal sd card after formatting, you probably lost some files forever, if you haven't yet, DON'T USE IT BEFORE RECOVERY !!

Give some app suggestions is fine. Once we have those, we know the key terms to search for.
I've tried cg-security apps, they're made for Windows/Linux/BSD etc, but won't install on android.
I tried aidfile installed on Windows but it won't detect the phone internal storage either.
I have all my photos.
I lost a database document that is 760mb. Most backupsoftware (Skydrive, Asus Webstorage, DropBox etc) won't upload it.
I sent the phone for warranty and they formatted my phone, and lost that document. I just need that back. It is in internal storage, there is no sd card on this android.

Try Recuva but don't get your hopes up. Not likely to work. If they've formatted the phone, it's gone. Android isn't like Windoze where 'files aren't really deleted'.
Edit - Also, beware of some (all ?) of the 'data recovery' apps on Google Play. Many (certainly the several I've tried) of the non-paid versions will go through their process of checking, and tell you that your file can be recovered, but you need to get the paid version of the app. You pay for the app, and then find they tell you the file recovers OK (funny about that, right ?) but is 'corrupted' (which is basically bull****, the file can't be recovered at all, but you paid for the app so they have to give you something, right ?) & useless. This scenario is highly likely in the case of a file like the one you're talking about if you do get suckered in by those apps.

You can't undo the formatted, but the data was not really gone, you still can use some data recovery tool to recover your photos.
You can try this guide about how to recover photos from Samsung Galaxy S II.
I recommend you backup your photos with Google Photos, it has 15GB free storage, I think it's enough for your 1 year's photos.

[Q] Sgs2 internal memory not mount

Hi, I am sure there is a lot of samsung galaxy s2 users having experience on internal and external sd card suddenly not mount. This is so critical to me. As i have a lot of memorable photo keeping in my phone earlier (The photoes taken when i registered with my wife). I dont have any further backup and now i face a trouble that internal and external memory sd card not mounted. If you ask me to do format, ofcourse i know this can solve the memory problem...but do you think i will do it?? Ofcourse not man, those memorable photos only one a life time can take, so what do you think...where is the solution???? why samsung manufacture never provide us a better support center?? ... why in the forum no one has solution. Well...I too had got the same problem once....that time I didn't even know how awesome android development SGS2 has...ended up formatting the SD card...
Well..you can always recover all the photos using any recovery software after formatting the phone..
Try factory resetting the phone(only your system memory gets wiped) and see whether the problem gets solved...
Well there are other apps but you need root..
Long back I had got this problem...my internal memory wasn't getting mount and when I tried to access it told that it got corrupt and needs to format..
To solve that I connected my phone to PC after connecting in mass storage mode (settings>wireless more options>USB>turn on USB storage) and connected to PC...
It didn't get detect over there in PC ,but in phone the turn on USB storage option changed to turn off USB storage...I clicked on that and the media scanner started...
All the data I thought I lost was back...
Anyways you always have the option to factory reset and try...
Press thanx if I helped...

I hope you recovered all your data back...though how the hell did the data of internal memory get wiped after factory resetting the phone... is the first time I've heard about it. ..
Anyways, post again if the problem still persists in your phone or files not recovered properly. .. Don't start storing data in your internal memory before getting back your photos. ... the data after formattin still remains in the phones memory in raw form...but if you put some other data in your phone it gets overwritten and deleted. ..

How to recover sdcard data?

Hi folks,
I got this 16G sdcard that from one day to another it stopped being recognized saying "blank card or has unsupported file system"
Besides the data, I had some applications installed on it.
I did tried to recover with a software, but even the software only can recognize space is occupied, but can't see it.
Anyone have any possible tip to share?
Thanks
You can try GetDataBack application
Once I accidentally deleted many fotos from my camera sd card.
To recover it i used GetDataBack windows application. With the free version you can search your sd card and see what files it can find. It found all my photos at the time.
But at the moment you press the recover button, it requires you to buy it for 80 dollars :'(
I suggest you to download the GetDataBack FAT version and see if it can find your files.
If it works, then you have to decide if you'll buy it or not. After recovering the files, the file names were all wrong. But at least i got to save my pictures
Hope this helps you.

On Unix/GNU/Linux or whatever you call it, you can press CTRL+H to show hidden files, then there usually appears .recovery or .lost or similar where the deleted files are stored.
If not try this search for a lost data recovery Android app:
google. de/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=recover+deleted+data+android+app&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=xVA-UuWtBom10wWjrIHQBA
Or use one of these Open Source programs:
cgsecurity. org/wiki/PhotoRec
kickassundelete.sourceforge. net
zdnet. com/blog/digitalcameras/how-to-recover-deleted-photos-from-your-sd-card/1102
boards.straightdope. com/sdmb/showthread.php%3Ft%3D395724
Hope this helps a bit.

I bet you it's a Kingston. But you should tell us what it is and what devices you've been using it on, when it failed??
See this: SD Corruption in Xperia Z
The tool to use for recovery, if at all possible, is ZAR 9.2.

Recuva!
Recuva is a great option. I've never used it to recover data from an SD card, but I HAVE used it successfully to recover date from my Windows machine when the hard drive crashed and all my data was deleted, and it has the ability to recover SD cards. This product, unlike some of those already suggested that are only free to download and analyze your system, is TOTALLY free.

I think you should try better recovery software like Remo Recover. It may help you to recover your data from SD card if it is not overwritten.
You can easily rescue your SD card data by employing a good SD card recovery utility. One good data recovery tool is there, have a look over it- http://youtu.be/AgRgEvF4HFM
Recuva works great on SD cards as well. I second using this.
I recommend using it over EASEUS Data Recovery. With Recuva it can restore original file name and path and tells you if the file has is in good condition to restore or has been overwritten by other data.

This is a serious problem. I think when you have lost some data from the SD card the only solution is to go to the manufacturer or to the shop where you bought it and ask for repair. There is way to repair the data as I know but you need to be very experienced, so you have to get support.
Have you lost your data from SD card? Do need to worry there is a tool which is known as Remo Recover which can easily assist you to get back data from your SD card.
I will try it. Sandisk provider ingram is not replacing my sd card. Unfortunately i bought it from snapdeal. I didnt got an invoice. Ingram is asking invoice for the replacement. I have the cover and sd card

[Q] File recovery, without root and usb.

Hi,
I helped my friend to get his photos from his Galaxy s3 with android 4.3 by transferring them to SD-card, but somehow the SD-card was broken so all the files were corrupted and we used Transfer not copy..... I did not manage to recover the photos from the SD-card, but i found some file recovery softwares for android but they all required root-access.
So any ideas how to recover those photos from internal memory without usb.
I did not manage to root with Framaroot.
Phones usb-port was changed to new one but still any computer wont recognize the phone...
I can promise some sort of reward for the person who manages to find a solution.

Use a file explorer to copy and paste to SD card. You will not need root unless he stored photos on root.

Yes, if those photos would show up at the file manager. but we used Transfer, so its like cut-paste. So the files disappeared and i have to find a solution to recover them. It is possibly and pretty easy if i could root.
No, because the internal memory/internal SD is only one partition of the memory chip. This means no recovery software or apps are going to help you.
Only chance is with the external card you transferred to.

I have similar problem, except i didn't cut/paste photos. Phone just did hard reset by itself, so everything is gone... I have managed to root the phone, can you tell me which solution have you found for rooted devices? I have tried with Wondershare Dr. Fone but with no luck (it even does not require root).

Theres a bunch of android software for file recovery. Diskdigger undelete (root) looks promising, but i cant test it without root. There is many software for windows too, if you can use USB, but i cant do that...Asoftech data recovery could be the solution if i could just use the usb. Yesterday i tried many different methods to get the usb working but still windows wont recognize it.
Should i just wait for Framaroot that can root android 4.3 or is that ever going to happen?
Yes, give hope of data recovery off of internal memory.

Depending what version of Windows you're running fully look into drivers and uninstall/install of them (Win XP has least problems) as WIN7 onwards have had/needed workaround/install others to work.
Double check that you cannot transfer the data back to phone, they could just be compressed and transfer back with same method?
Check for which is the USERDATA partition, with a desperate SDCard using adb and a shell command, dd the partition to SDCard and recover from there.
Is the RECOVERY stock, CWM or TWRP?
Make a backup if possible and recover from there.
Hope this gives you some more options to look for

RECOVERY is stock too. Im sure that theres no hope recovering the photos from the SD-card, but maybe ill manage to get them from internal memory with some sort of software like DiskDigger, like the previous poster suggested. But i still need root to do anything, so if windows XP wont work ill just have to wait for Framaroot to update, because i tryed atleast 2 work arounds for windows 7 but the usb still wont recognize.
But thanks for your help.

[Q] Restore internal sd data after unlocking bootloader

Hi 2 all,
Forgot to make nandroid and unlocked bootloader on my wife's m8. And 27GB of photos gone. I think she'll kill me after she wake up in the morning. Is there any way to get data back?
Unlocking the bootloader is not supposed to do that. It will wipe user data (/data partition) but I believe the internal storage ("virtual SD") should have been untouched. So you shouldn't blame yourself too much. And a nandroid would not have helped you as not only is that partition not backed up with a nandroid, but the default location for a nandroid is the internal SD, so it would have been lost, anyway.
That said, I try to backup any important personal data (even on partitions that are not supposed to be impacted) to my computer whenever doing something major like flashing a ROM or unlocking the bootloader. Only reason I've started doing that is a similar bug on the One X (EVITA) where actions that are not supposed to wipe the internal memory, occasionally did so (which is what I suspect happened to you).
I think your only hope is to use data recovery programs (Recova is a free one). But I've had mixed results doing so (and have seen similar reports here) when trying to recovery photos and other data that were "accidentally" deleted or recovered. Its certainly worth a try, and also keep in mind that you should do so ASAP as the more you use your phone, the higher the chance that those memory sectors where the photos were saved will be overwritten by other data.
Also, is there anything left on the internal memory at all when you browse with a file manager? Sometimes, corrupted data will be saved to a folder named LOST.DIR and there have times where folks have often found many of their photos simply moved there.
Found very helpful post

For M8 it works pretty much the same. I was able to get userdata partition from the phone, but because of I converted to GPE I lost everything. So I'm 99% sure that it will work right after unlock bootloader and factory reset.

Ah, that's true. I hadn't thought about the fact that the memory mounts as MTP now. The times I did the data recovery was on the old bulk storage mode on my One X (before it was switched to MTP). All I had to do was connect my phone to my PC and run Recuva.
Mind you, even mounted properly, data recovery programs will not always be able to recover all data. It was pretty hit or miss for me (and from other reports I've seen). But the linked method is also clever in that it makes a copy of the corrupted partition to your computer, so you sidestep the issue that those sectors may be overwritten as the phone is being used. Give you more times to try various data recovery apps, etc.

It's not Android that makes an external SD-card ( by default formatted as FAT32 - so readable by any cardreader ) in part or in whole unreadable: It's you, the user , when you decide Android should use external SD-card's storage capacity in part or in whole as system memory. This adopted memory uses the Ext4 file system and 128-bit AES encryption.

Done with it, couldn't find anything in the Memcard, just few empty folders, so I decided to create an image off of the card, and I saw actual 12gb which is the total amount of space I remembered my data consumed when my phone is still alive, please help me with any tutorial or step by step so I can get my stuff back i think all of them are hidden. And can't even be viewed not extracted......?
