Hello guys,
I need help on checking whether an Xperia U has fastboot enabled (bootloader unlock allowed) WITHOUT booting up the phone and check in the service menu.
I know that fastboot mode is indicated with a blue led.
My question is this: if I connect the phone while holding the vol+ to a PC that doesn't have fastboot drivers, will the blue led still light up?
The store doesn't want to boot up the device normally, as the phone would ask for customization
Thanks!
It should light up, but why don't you just show the sales people to the data wipe button?
Thanks man, I'll let them know

1. Disconnect phone from USB
2. Turn off phone (make sure you have at least 50% battery) and wait 30 seconds.
3. Hold the 'Volume UP key' WHILE inserting the USB. --> LED turns blue = fastboot mode.
4. Leave the phone turned off
have you install drivers for fastboot from sony ericssons site? and you dont have to power up the phone press Volume Up and at the same time conect usb cable

rooting the phone should not affect the sound settings.
Did you check the sound options?
Xloud turned on?
I cant get my mini pro sk17i into fastboot mode. Tried waiting more than 30 seconds before plugging in usb cable, nothing.

What color does the LED turn?
I don't have SK17i, did you try holding the menu button instead of the volume up button? as they are different models.

You can try wwwong's suggest, or basically just try all the buttons on your phone. The design may be different between models, but you should be seeing same blue color LED when your phone is is fastboot mode

Here is a very nice video to unlock the bootloader. Step by step guide below it as well. It's for Arc but I followed that when I first unlocked my bootloader for my Ray.

NOTE: VOLUME UP KEY will enter fastboot mode (Blue LED).
Alright thanks alot...i will try it out and see how it goes....

Is your phone turned off? Look at the video above. It's the same general rules but different buttons are used.
I am having the issue, obviously our phones are branded... I THINK i might have actually unlocked the bootloader using S1TOOL with TP, but cant manage to get into fastboot... Is there any way to get around this issue anyone? And yes i have done everything right trying to get into fastboot...

Same problem
If you do not get blue led that means fastboot is not enabled I can enable fastboot and then unlock your bootloader for you.
I read the "How to Unlock BootLoaders for Sony Xperia Sola" by "DooMLoRD" today & tried to unlock my XPeria`s bootloaders but failed.
I did everything right but failed to call the fastboot mode correctly.
I pressed & hold Volume Up key of my Xperia Sola & plugged the USB cable in, the phone started showing the blue light, i.e; it was connected in fastboot mode but after 2 seconds Sony`s logo came up on screen & the phone was disconnected from fastboot mode ( the blue light disappeared ). And the phone started normal charging.
Can anybody please help me, how to resolve this issue.
Thank You:fingers-crossed:

Hold the vol+ button for a longer time
I have tried that but it does not work...
As soon as Sony`s logo is displayed the phone gets back to normal.
try installing fastboot drivers from another source and make sure u have android sdk (fastboot drivers is included in tools or download it using sdk manager) along with google usb drivers.
replace android-sdk\extras with this
http://dl-developer.sonyericsson.com/customROM/windows/downloadinf.zip
try fastboot again (if asked for drivers, point to this file
I have the same problem. What am I missing here? I have SDK Tools on & I keep my vol + (tried Vol - as well) Plz I need help cuz I want my sola rooted!
Hi guys,
I know that here is a lot of infos regarding this, but I cannot get Fastboot mode on my XU. To get Flash mode is no problem (VOL_DOWN + cable), but I cannot get Fastboot mode (VOL_UP + cable). Am I doing something wrong?
a, turning phone OFF
b, plugging USB cable while pressing VOL_UP button
It's Xperia U. I tried to do it appr. 20 times but without success, phone is allways getting only chargin icon with red LED on right upper corner....
Thx
Does your phone boots?
Yes of course, everything is working OK except ability to enter Fastboot mode... That's why I'm asking if I'm doing something wrong or where's the problem... I want to unlock bootloader through Flashtool (I received unlock code from SONY by mail). But to do that, I have to connect phone in Fastboot mode
Brfore turns into charging mode is it light the blue colour?
Sent from my xperia sola using xda premium
No no. It's going only red (small LED in upper right corner) and I receive battery icon on screen. Is possible that I cannot enter Fastboot mode, because I have "Bootloader Unlock Allowed=NO"? But now I'm thinkning that my question is useless, because if my option =NO, then I'll be not able to unlock bootloader, even if I received official unlock code....

This phone will exit fastboot mode if you dont have the drivers installed correctly. You need to be fast to install them before the phone exits the fastboot mode.
Also you need to have your bootloader unlocked or it will not work.
hi, i'm the stupid noob that have bricked his friend's phone. now my siutation is:
no system
no recovery
no possibility to go on fastboot mode
Why?
Because after a full format (i have formatted /system /data /cache 'n /sdcard ), i've decompressed the .elf file containing the latest jb firmware, and then i flashed "kernel.sin" (in boot partition) and "system.sin" (in system partiition) via fastboot (i used fastboot because adb said me "device unauthorized") .
after flashing these files, phone is in a situation of bootloop, there isn't a recovery (because the stock jb kernel that i've flashed doesn't contain a recovery) and doesn't go on fastboot mode. The blu light is on but "fastboot devices" say me that the phone is not connected.
Any idea about a solution? many thanks and sorry for my bad english
Use flashtool

flash tool
thanks for reply. i tried it, but it don't work.
first of all, the device don't power off, it remain on SONY boot animation, so i cannot power off it as flash tool need. I tried to plug in the cable and press volume down when the device rebooting but doesn't work. please, can u tell me step by step what i have to do?
thanks man for the information, finally i discovered that if u long press power+volume up+volume down the device will power off. so i've powered off it and plugin in flash mode. resolved! many thanks
I actually dun remember bt there is a three/two Button combo that forces power off... once powered off.. u can easily achieve flashmode ...
I guess its power plus volume down
(M almost sure this combo is wrong bt someone else here can correct this)

in xperia u this is the combination to get into flash mod
Nope to get in flashmode device must be off pressing vol- while plugging usb led is green
Device off while plugging usb fastboot mode led is blue
Power/vol+ holded= keep holding it till one vibration is force restart
If u keep holding then u feel 3 vibrations means force shutdown

I have been reading posts for days in multiple Xperia forums here trying to identify my soft brick condition.
I had a bad flash using flash mode, and the device just keeps power cycling with no logos. I turn it on, and I receive one "buzz" followed by a red light, then a green light, then it goes back off.
If I hold vol down for flash mode, this just repeats over and over.
If I old up for Fast boot, it does go into fast boot, but this is a VZW locked boot loader, and I can not do much in fast boot mode due to these restrictions.
If anyone knows a hack to unlock the boot loader or some other way to fix the flash mode so I can re-flash, it would be greatly appreciated!
When the read and green leds are going off ypu should be in flashmode
Look on your pc device manager and ypu will see the device therw
When the red light flashes, it buzzes, then the green light comes on for a brief second, then it reboots immediately and I never see the device show up in device manager. The Flashtool also never recoginzies the device either while it is in this cycle of kernel rebooting (I assume it is just the kernel attempting to boot since it can go into fastboot).
