Scanning for signal - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone get it where they lose signal and it doesn't come back even though you know your in a good reception area? I have to restart my phone sometimes because it doesn't seem to start scanning for signal. I can go from no signal or data to full signal and 3g just by restarting the phone.
It happened with my HTC Desire sometimes too but flicking flight mode on and off sorted it with that phone

3G in a 1x area

My wife and I both have the Eris with the V3 leak. We live in a bad are in Pennsylvania as far as mobile signal is concerned and even our phone coverage is through an extended network. We have always had 1x mobile signal in our house and starting yesterday, I have started getting a 3G signal at home but she still gets 1x. Has anybody experienced this before? I live in 18337 are code. I have tried turning her mobile on and off, turning the phone off, but hers comes back to 1x. We have had the phones for about 6 months and have always had really slow 1x signal at home.

[Q] Wifi messing with 3g signal

I have noticed, that when i am in a strong wifi signal, my phone goes to edge but as soon as I walk far enough away from the wifi signal I get 3G or Hsdpa
I tested also by turning off my modem at home and the same thing happens as soon as I turn it off I get 3g signal........... curious,
Has anyone else noticed this?

[Q] Data Issues- full bars, no speed

For the past couple months I've had issues with my data. It only happens at the areas where I go on break at work too. The thing is my signal shows full bars but runs slower than edge. It doesn't happen anywhere other than at work. I've tried rebooting my phone, switching to 2g and back, going into airplane mode and back and nothing seems to fix it. It's just confusing me because it's showing that I have a strong signal but my speeds are terrible. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Signal dropping.

I've had this problem for awhile. Randomly drop signal, calls, data stop working. The signal drop lasts a few seconds then comes back. I never get the x as in no signal at all, but no bars. This has happened with several roms. Anyone else have this trouble? I can have my phone next to another phone and they will have perfect signal and mine has none.

signal issues

I've tested my phone for 2 weeks before I decided I would post this thread..from what I've found in my house I will have full signal bars all around..I use my wifi because it is a lot quicker ..now when I am on wifi my mobile signal strength goes down..When my phone sleeps and I power screen back up my mobile signal will be zero bars and it will be stuck there..so I turn off wifi around nd restart my phone..of course all 5 bars are back and I have perfect service..until I turn back on wife then it happens again..I've Updated prl and profile a few times..I'm past my 14 days Idk what to do

If you live in a stucco house then your inside a giant Faraday cage. 4G is suppose to penetrate better but I wouldn't know. Sprint does have Femtocell's but you have to go to the store twice for them to give you one. If it keeps up or you live in a stucco house then a Femtocell is the solution. It's the towers not your device. If your on stock rom then what you see as signal probably isn't realistic anyway. It will show 3G when it's not.
