[Q] I want Gingerbread ROM what should i do?? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I just installed xrecovery on my X10 mini using a .apk given by a member from this site.....
i'd subscribed to the forum from the xda app on my mobile but somehow i cant find post now...
i want to use Gingerbread ROM on my mobile.. what should i do???? what's the procedure.. i'd like the camera to work the same way its working now, (The main reason why i bought this little ninja)

1. ROOT YOUR PHONE
2.UNLOCK BOOTLOADER from here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
3.FLASH NaA KERNEL from here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739
4.FLASH ROM, mini cm7 by naA-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553 OR any other gingerbread rom from development section you can look there

If you want stock like camera i suppose ArcMini would be a better choice, it's still based on MiniCM7/GB2.3.7, but with Sony Ercsson apps.

Thank you for those quick replies. After posting this question i've read some other posts. And I came across a post where its mentioned that Unlocking bootloader may Hard brick the phone. ( That'd be murder in my words.)
That post was for x10mini pro. Is it applicable for x10 mini too?

Yes, although it's very rare to actually hard-brick it.
If your phone is built before 11w29 (take off the back-cover and read the sticker), actually hard-bricking it is unlikely.
The only thing you have to worry about then is the simlock-certificate, if S1Tool says it's unrecognised it's going to be difficult, if it's SEMC simlock certificate, you should be ok.

It says 11W06 on the sticker of my cell phone. Does that mean there are no chances of bricking?

You can still brick it, but in the vast majority of cases, restoring to stock rom and relocking the bootloader will get you going again, which are things you can do yourself

I can use SIM provided by any network. My phone doesn't have any restriction. So that should prevent certificate issue right?

Yes, you should be ok. just make sure you check if you still have network-access after unlocking the bootloader, by booting up before doing anything else. If you get a signal, you can do whatever you please

After unlocking bootloader if I don't get any signal should I promptly go to back to stock ROM using PC companion? Or is there anything that can be done to prevent signal loss . :screwy: :banghead: Excuse me if this question is too simple to be asked.

A: You unlock your bootloader
B: You start up your phone
If you don't get signal, relock the bootloader
If you do get signal: flash whatever you want.

Just jumping in this thread
I don;t really want to create a new thread.
I'm wanting to install/flash nAa Kernel but when downloaded I have 2 files; loader.sin and kernel.sin and meta.inf with an associated directory file in it.
How do I use these via Flashtool?

Rename the zip you downloaded to .ftf, put it in the firmwares subfolder where you installed flashtool, and flash...
(some browsers recognise the .ftf file for what it really is: a zip-file with a different extension, and automatically rename it when they download it, changing the extension again will make it show up in flashtool)

This is awesome. Before trying Gingerbread I thought of going with froyo I installed Remix V 3.2 coz I could do it using xrecovery. My phone went into bootloop :screwy:. I had missed a crucial step in the procedure. I found out what and it worked well.
Now i'm back to stock coz all gingerbread rom ask the phone to be on stock kernel.
Unable to download flashtool due to internet issues. As soon as I get my hand on that, i'll unlock bootloader and flash gingerbread.
I hope i'm on right track.
I don't want to murder this marvel and its Cam

Removing yellow triangle.

I see that by flashing the stock firmware that Entrophy posted in the dev section will put the phone back to stock removing the triangle. (Phone is being returned soon)
What if I flash the pre rooted stock firmware also offered by entrophy? Will the flash counter detect the root and throw the yellow triangle as well?
Also am I even accurate with my first paragraph? If I flash the totally stock firmware with Odin will my triangle go away?

Buy a jig. It's $8.
Use it every time you use download mode, and you'll never get a triangle ever.

You can't even be bothered to read the thread titles on the first page of this section before posting a new thread? Nor can you be bothered to read sticky threads?

Yes seriously.
No need to be rude. You contribute a lot to this forum but that doesn't mean you need to be rude and annoyed with other members.
If you look at your 'highlighted' posts from the main general section you can see that you have highlighted my own thread first of all, second of all the FAQ which isn't visibly from the xda app, which is what I use.
Third you can see that I at least read the thread of how to circumvent the flash counter as I mentioned it in the OP. After reading said thread I couldn't come up with an answer myself which is why I reposted.
Do you think I enjoy posting for no reason? I would much rather find the info myself.
Either way thank you for taking the time to set me straight.

Blindly flashing bootloaders willy-nilly is a great way to hardbrick!
As to your latest post - I know I highlighted it. I was pointing out the fact that it was within easy view of not one but TWO locations with your answer.
Your question was answered easily in two existing threads, easily visible. Yet you decided you were so special and important that you had to create an entire new thread for your question (which already averages 3-4 new threads per day when it should average ZERO due to being answered in multiple places, pushing the guide lower down from the first page, making it harder for people to find the answers.
Stickies not being visible from apps is not an excuse.
It IS visible from forum reader apps. Hell, stickies are MORE visible as they get their own tab in the app instead of just an icon next to the thread. I just checked on my phone
Just because you're using a deficient method of accessing these forums because you're too lazy to wait, sit down at a PC, and do some reading doesn't give you the right to clutter them up for people who actually try to do some research

A ROM is not the same as bootloaders.
Screw boot.bin and sbl.bin up and your phone is done, unless you're willing to open it up and flash directly into the motherboard.

Downgrade ICS

I guess this question is asked over and over again and it pretty much pisses you guys off, but i fail at finding some guide or something that gives me the confidence to start the process.
Some days ago i upgraded my samsung galaxy s II from Gingerbread to ICS and i got nothing but problems since then. My battery doesn´t last even 1 day, browser keeps crashing, and i cant find any feature that makes me wanna continue using such OS. So, if possible, i want to downgrade to Gingerbread, is there anyway to do this without having ANY problems with my carrier and keeping my warranty ? Searching a bit through google, i saw that this could be easily be accomplished by using ODIN, but i cant seem to find Gingerbread for my specific carrier and device...
My info:
Samsung Galaxy S II
Carrier: Personal
Current OS: ICS 4.0.3
PD: Can i downgrade from my carrier's ICS to an international gingerbread version without having any problem (this includes saving my warranty, etc). But if available, i'd like GB for my carrier.

Thanks a ton and sorry if this is asked a lot.

A noob with courtesy, wow it makes everything better.
The answer is yes, flash an unrooted ROM/Kernel with Odin.
Go to www.sammobile.com and download the firmware you want and flash through Odin. (don't tick repartition or use a pit file unless you know 100% what you're doing)

Go to Samfirmware dot Com (you need to be registered to download roms) select your device model, country, carrier and download the rom.
Open odin,
put your phone in download mode and connect it. U will see a yellow indicator which means odin had recognized your device.
Select Pda and choose the .tar.md5 file.
Don't change anything unless you know what you are doing.
Click Start.
Process will be done in 2mins...
Make sure you have more than 50% battery when doing this.
Hit thanks if this was of use to you.

You can use this video guide made few days ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652376
Also to improve your ICS experience its recommended to wipe cache and do factory reset.

Use any for Argentina if you prefer something for your country, but it doesn't matter in real. As for warranty purpose you would need to flash the one you had there when you bought the phone.
Yeah check here :
http://samsung-updates.com/
Just check your device and so on, there is a thread with carrier branded roms here on xda as well. Think it's intratechs thread

{Root} Xperia Go 6.1.1.B.1.54

Hi everybody
I searched a lot and was surprised to find, there exists no tutorial on how to root Xperia GO 6.1.1.B.1.54
I'm creating one now, hoping it would help someone. Please let me know if i'm doing anything wrong by posting this thread. ( I'll delete as soon as possible )
Sorry
ROOTING
We cannot root this build directly , hence we need to flash 6.1.1.B.1.10 Kernel, run the rooting toolkit, and then flash 6.1.1.B.1.54 kernel.
Go to settings > Security > Mark "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
1) Download only this version of Flashtool 0.9.8.0 . Install it and restart your PC.
2) Download 6.1.1.B.1.10 Kernel
Place this kernel in C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > Kernel file
3) Run Flashtool > click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option) > Select flashmode >
Setup should be like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

4)Follow the steps, connect your mobile and flash. Note: while connecting to PC, hold volume down key instead of back button.
Once flashing's finished, close flashtool, disconnect your phone and switch it on.
5) Download the rooting toolkit by Bin4ry Link Rooting Toolkit
and Extract it on your PC. Run it and select Normal mode. Follow the on-screen instructions it shows, carefully
6) Once rooting toolkit is done, download and flash the 6.1.1.B.1.54 Kernel

Me kernels
Ofcourse, Sony for xperia go
I know it's a stupid question but can you use flashtool and flash kernels even if you are not rooted?

Hi
Yes, there is no harm in using flashtool to flash kernels even if you wouldn't want to root it, but could be a little more clear with your question ?
I'm not completely sure what you exactly mean.
Sorry

No probs
I use Flashtool Version 0.9.10.1 and I use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18(I will download the update v26)
viola. .my android phone ICS.54 is now rooted
I did root it before without using this method, by unchecking all the wipe and exclude boxes, leaving the kernel uncheck. .in doing that so, I just flash the kernel. .
in contrary, this is the fast way of flashing ICS .54. .flashing the kernels ftf file. .
now thats smart. .thanks to you no unchecking boxes for me!!. .just flash it!. .:good::good:
And I just updated my supersu from playstore. .it works!. .

Additional info, I did install flashtool drivers first before flashing it, Its my way logical thinking, maybe its a protocol to install drivers first before flashing anything?..hehe, anyways thanks again

Yup,
You used that earlier ?
And ofcourse, I was surprised man. XDA is known for rooting and development, and no tutorial for Xperia Go
Few people only search on XDA and nothing outside it
I've my signature full of useful threads. it may help people with rooting
Oh EDIT : No that's not my tutorial, I don't have any info about it, i thought you linked my tutorial on the forum
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/97327
Tested
it works

Nabeel, i know that u wanted to do a favor, but there is already a tutorial for rooting here in xda, this is the link to the tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36741604&postcount=2
and also i think this is not the proper section for a tutorial since this isn't developing..

Omg, sorry :fingers-crossed:
And yes, I checked that link earlier, but it doesn't have a tutorial / kernel files for xperia go
And moreover , I observed ( before posting this thread) that similar rooting threads of xperia sola and xperia p existed in development section, that's why i thought it would be better if i put it here.. ( Easily accessible for Go users as well )
But I know it's wrong ,
Can you help me further by letting me know which moderator I should contact to, to get this thread placed in right section
Thanks
EDIT : or if it's not that bad case let's leave it here ? what say ?

well its not a problem for me at all lol but i guess you should contact any of the moderators and ask them if this should be moved or not, this is the list of moderators u can ask to
Diamondback, _Arjen_, eagleeyetom, iridaki, krook6023, TeeJay3800, YZ, kangi26, Andy, bigjoe2675, il Duce, ApriliaM3
anyways thanks for the good intentions but try to post on the right section from now on?
edit: oh and regarding the tutorial, yes i know that there are not kernel files, but thats because its a general thread for P, U, Sola and go so thats why, but it explains what u must do in order to get root when you are in a newer version than .10 fw
Thank u for the thread, it helping me so much
