Downgrade ICS - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I guess this question is asked over and over again and it pretty much pisses you guys off, but i fail at finding some guide or something that gives me the confidence to start the process.
Some days ago i upgraded my samsung galaxy s II from Gingerbread to ICS and i got nothing but problems since then. My battery doesn´t last even 1 day, browser keeps crashing, and i cant find any feature that makes me wanna continue using such OS. So, if possible, i want to downgrade to Gingerbread, is there anyway to do this without having ANY problems with my carrier and keeping my warranty ? Searching a bit through google, i saw that this could be easily be accomplished by using ODIN, but i cant seem to find Gingerbread for my specific carrier and device...
My info:
Samsung Galaxy S II
Carrier: Personal
Current OS: ICS 4.0.3
PD: Can i downgrade from my carrier's ICS to an international gingerbread version without having any problem (this includes saving my warranty, etc). But if available, i'd like GB for my carrier.
Thanks a ton and sorry if this is asked a lot.

yes you can ...
I understand your frustration ..been there .......
I assumed you upgraded from kies ?
this page will help you lots http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826497

A noob with courtesy, wow it makes everything better.
The answer is yes, flash an unrooted ROM/Kernel with Odin.

Go to www.sammobile.com and download the firmware you want and flash through Odin. (don't tick repartition or use a pit file unless you know 100% what you're doing)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

Go to Samfirmware dot Com (you need to be registered to download roms) select your device model, country, carrier and download the rom.
Open odin,
put your phone in download mode and connect it. U will see a yellow indicator which means odin had recognized your device.
Select Pda and choose the .tar.md5 file.
Don't change anything unless you know what you are doing.
Click Start.
Process will be done in 2mins...
Make sure you have more than 50% battery when doing this.
Hit thanks if this was of use to you.

You can use this video guide made few days ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652376
Also to improve your ICS experience its recommended to wipe cache and do factory reset.

Use any for Argentina if you prefer something for your country, but it doesn't matter in real. As for warranty purpose you would need to flash the one you had there when you bought the phone.

Yeah check here :
http://samsung-updates.com/
Just check your device and so on, there is a thread with carrier branded roms here on xda as well. Think it's intratechs thread

New galaxy s2 user, and need help!

Hey all, I just got my galaxy s2 from AT&T, yaaay I bought the phone used from someone and it was in great condition. I then start to read the forum on how to root this sucker and put some ICS on it, started reading with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081, installed that entropy512 stock UCKK6 firmware, and everything was fine. I then booted into download mode, no custom flashing or anything showing so I started with the flashing the kernel of siyah 2.6 ... That was done fine too but when I rebooted it showed me a yellow icon with the I9100 logo
The phone is out of warranty already so I don't really care but it is kind of annoying seeing that screen. Next I then installed the new siyah ICS version 3.2 with mic swap, then continued to install the omega ICS rom and everything installed fine and I am on it now.
My overall question is did I do this right? How do I get rid of that yellow ! icon with the i9100 logo now? I know that if I want to clear the custom flashing count I need a jig which like I mention the phone is out of warranty already so it doesn't really matter.
Thanks everyone for helping!

I did search the forum that's why I listed down what's the steps I did. I wouldn't did what I did without reading and searching the forum.

Use a jig or search triangle away on google
any time you flash a kernel using odin it will trip your counter and give you the triangle.
And if you flashed a kernel using PC Odin and not Mobile Odin, you probably didn't read that guide carefully enough. I'd suggest reading it once or twice more, just so you get a really good handle on it.
Use TriangleAway to get rid of the warning since you're on ICS after you're done reading. And thanks for at least taking the time to search and read and attempt to understand before doing anything to your phone! That's often a lot more than some other noobs have done XD
download triangle away from the market
Omg this question again flash a .tar file with Odin mobile simplest way.

oh so I should keep what I have but next time use mobile odin instead of the pc odin? Also that triangle away from the appstore works?
Yes it works...it costs $1.99, but it works like a charm. Most everything that is paid for on the Android marker is worth the money and works perfectly.
Or search hard enough and you'll find the lite version of triangle away... hint... its found in xda

Just to be clear, as long as you have CWM, you don't need mobile Odin anymore. You only needed it to flash the first custom kernel without tripping the counter, but since you've already done that, you just need to clear the counter with triangle away. Once it's cleared, use CWM to flash anything else you want to try from now on, e.g. ROMs, kernels, modems, etc.

true, but if he flashes kh7 with root, he can use mobile Odin to flash a cwm kernel without tripping the counter in the future.

Help! Newly bought S3 with problems :(

Hi,
I've ordered from a chinese seller on ebay an i9300 for 500$+10$transport.
I received the phone that was in a perfect brand new condition in original box.
I turned it on and i see that the phone always is in "safe mode" condition and has a few chinese apps installed.
This means that it always writes on bottom left "safe mode" and i understand that it doesn't load all programs and stuff.
Apart from that everything else seems to work ok.
I've tried to update it over the air but i receive error "processing failed".
I connected it on Kies and it recognizes it as SGH-I747M!!! and can't update it. PDA:LG3 PHONE:LI5 CSC:LG3 (TLS)
Also when i enter download mode it writes SGH-I747.
On Settings>About Device, it says model:GT-I9300 4.1.1, baseband unknown, kernel 3.0.8-599060-user [email protected]#1 build JMM76D.LXKJ.F2A238.2JIA68 .
On toolkit 7>Device Info, it appears as GT-I9300, Firmware build ID: IMM76D, firmware build PDA: I9300ZSALG3, firmware region code: TLS, boot image status:secure (based on ro.secure value).
I've tried to flash with Odin the latest versions of I9300 and SGH-I747 from sammobile and it fails!
I've tried to download rom manager and flash CWM but it doesn't load probably because i am on safe mode.
I understand that the device is an SGH-I747M but with a kind of I9300 ROM installed.
Of course i'm in contact with the seller to find a solution and if i open a case on ebay i will get a full refund.
But if i get a partial refund and keep the phone, can i do anything with it? Can i push CWM recovery and flash any rom? And what roms can i flash? I9300 or SGH-I747?
What do you suggest me to do?
I'm new with S3 but i had a Huawei U8800pro and an HTC desire so i'm not totally newbie.
Please help! thanks.

This is a probable fake its not an I9300 .
I've tried to flash with Odin the latest versions of I9300 and SGH-I747 from sammobile and it fails!
If it was an I9300 or even SGH-I747 then you have bricked it by flashing the wrong phone firmware .
There is no return / refund from EBay on a product you have hacked .

Thanks for the answer. I didn't hack it yet. The flashing didn't even start. It failed since the beginning probably because of model mismatch. The phone is in the initial condition and fully functional except for the "safe mode" and the update disability. I think I'll insist on full refund.
The phone is likely fake dude, not the real i9300 by samsung.

but when i swich it open it goes directly into download mode .
anything i could do .... please

If its not an I9300 and you flashed I9300 firmware then you may well have dead phone .

How about the Volume Button??
It's Volume Button Working??
Try flashing stock sgh ROM with or ldin
If it's original Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 you will be able to access test menu with code *#0*#
If you won't be able it's means that it's fake one.
Battery doesn´t look legit at all. Mine is Black with white letters.
Please remove the back cover and take 2 photos, one with battery in, one with it out and post here(good quality picture please.)
This is the easiest methods of identifying a fake as your information is confused and unclear
It's deffinetly not fake from what i see in those screenshots, but it's the chinese variant not intl one. Usually safe mode is activated by pressing left button while booting, so it must be somethimg wrong with that, apart from any software issues.
Funny thing that SuperSU icon, it may be rroted allready. Try install rom manager and flash cwm from app.

I’m sorry I have to revive this post but I have the same problem. I’ve bought a Galaxy Nexus from Amazon from “On The Go Solutions”, They were out of stock and they kept saying that I was going to get my phone very very soon. After 22 days they confessed that they did not have the phone and they were not getting new ones. and they will send me an SIII as a free upgrade. I finally got a SGSIII GT-I9300. Brand new and perfectly original (my sister and my dad both own a SIII so I would spot a fake right away)
It came with 4.1.1 and I wanted to make a software update as soon as I opened the package. Surprise surprise the phone was Rooted (Not brand new?). I was unable to make the OTA update. That’s not a problem since I know how to install the new version via ODIN.
I downloaded the latest version and after going to Download Mode it said it was a SGH-I747 Qualcomm SecureBot Enabled
I Rebooted the phone and downloaded AnTuTu just to find out the internals of the phone where the same as the I747 (?)
But the menu says I9300, the StartUp animation says I9300, even Antutu says I9300 but the internals of the I747. Also the *#1234# menu says it is a I9300.
LCD Test is working
Can anyone tell me how this is possible?

what is this? and how can i get rid of it once and for all or avoid it ??
i'm Using Omega Rom AOKP Version V5
and it happens on most of the roms i use every once in a while
I'll be honest, i'm not clued up on kernel panic & upload mode. i read that it is a fatal error on the operating system just wondered if when you were changing roms, you flashed a different kernel too, or if it just that kernel you've been having trouble with (you can see where i'm going here) have you tried using a different kernel?
Had a read around and it seems that flashing a stock firmware and factory reset should sort this out for you and stop it happening again

Yeah, to be honest a clean start is the best solution to many problems, might seem drastic, but if you are well backed up and sorted then it really doesn't take long. You can spend ages trying to work out what causes a problem, or just be a competent flasher and just accept that when problems do accumulate a clean start is usually the quickest....but that's just my opinion

Just a plain old Odin flashable stock Rom, no reason to use a pit at all...last resort that is! Just get latest for your region and flash, you might need to do a factory reset after, so if you can, back up first including internal sd as a factory reset from stock recovery will wipe that also

I have left the following message when you turn on the phone after wanting to upgrade "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again" (is the explanation that a friend gave me, the team is his, I thought I could give him a hand and he had had a similar situation on my Galaxy S2, which solved .)
As I have already downloaded firmware, full package proceeded to try to flash it with ODIN reaching it in the picture, then odin and not advance, usually gives error, but more than that I failed.
I can't see the pictures you posted but i'm pretty sure there's a couple of threads that can help you sort this one out.

I think Kies is not the problem because I tried on 3 different computers, and also tried on all ports of each computer.
How about the cable then?
Odin versions?

Ok Carlos, how about siyah?
@OP:
Time to start over again. There must be something wrong in what you are doing.
Here is a checklist of stuff to try when Odin flash fails:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25731280&postcount=4
Please try each and all, and see if u can flash successfully.

Ok so I flashed seriyah kernal. I failed to write "Complete(Write) operation failed." in odin and then it said to reccont to kies and because of osmehting blah blah but i just relfahsed and now it is working fine again (4.1.2). but the problem still persists of me not being able ot flash seriyah.
Killed kies applications before you flashed?
Sent from the little guy
I just can't understand why people ask for the exact file to flash, instead of trying to find out for themselves.
From what I see, its not that hard to find what ur looking for, unless ur too lazy to go through all the search results! And you can always double check with other members on whether ur doing stuff right or not.
If someone suggests you flash something, and you do it without knowing why or how, ur back to where u were before asking.
Believe me, the fun is all about learning what ur doing and why ur doing it. So after u have solved ur issue, u have not just helped ur device, u have helped urself too..
Just my 2 cents..

This link should help, it gives a step by step guide: http://galaxys2root.com/category/galaxy-s2-root/
Using search button "root sgs2 4.1.2" . U should watch for a kernel
Send from my SGS2 I9100 with HassanROM and latest DorimanX 8.xx kernel
Word of advice....don't go offsite for rooting methods....other sites get their info here, and if not, it probably shouldn't be trusted anyway.
And for rooting....visit the PhilZ thread....search the thread for the kernel that matches your firmware and download the ZIP version. This can be flashed in the stock recovery....without Odin. ....
Not sure how? Search function will help......
