Ok so i had my phone rooted like 2 years ago (when everythign was striaght forward and i used my model number and odin and jsut did it) now there are all these super root one click herdmial wtf is going on programs. I just want to root my phone because i soft bricked it. I want ot be back on CM nightlies, and most of all i want to sim unlock.
Yes I know I am a noob but I have put in a solid 6 hours of searching, which is ****ing stupid because one forum member here is going to be able to link me the eact rom and kernal i need in 3 seconds.
My model number when i go to information is

when i take the battry out of the phone the FFC is like Alg3? I think if you need that I will reply asap.
TLR I am to stupid to use google, its been 6 hours and google is making me rage.

Ok so I flashed seriyah kernal. I failed to write "Complete(Write) operation failed." in odin and then it said to reccont to kies and because of osmehting blah blah but i just relfahsed and now it is working fine again (4.1.2). but the problem still persists of me not being able ot flash seriyah.
Killed kies applications before you flashed?
Sent from the little guy
I just can't understand why people ask for the exact file to flash, instead of trying to find out for themselves.
From what I see, its not that hard to find what ur looking for, unless ur too lazy to go through all the search results! And you can always double check with other members on whether ur doing stuff right or not.
If someone suggests you flash something, and you do it without knowing why or how, ur back to where u were before asking.
Believe me, the fun is all about learning what ur doing and why ur doing it. So after u have solved ur issue, u have not just helped ur device, u have helped urself too..
Just my 2 cents..

Using search button "root sgs2 4.1.2" . U should watch for a kernel

Word of advice....don't go offsite for rooting methods....other sites get their info here, and if not, it probably shouldn't be trusted anyway.
And for rooting....visit the PhilZ thread....search the thread for the kernel that matches your firmware and download the ZIP version. This can be flashed in the stock recovery....without Odin. ....
Not sure how? Search function will help......

I know this probably has been asked too many times before, but I swear I searched for this specific issue and found no answer.
A friend of mine bought a SGS2 on swappa, it came with the ****ing triangle in the boot image and we paid no attention to it untill we tried to flash CM10 on it. <it is currently running cm7.
We tried the triangle away app and it displayed the "trouble parsing the package" then i read that this app works only on jellybean, my question is how do I upgrade andoid if Im not able to flash any rom on it.
Here are a couple of pictures so that you can have an idea of the errors im getting.

I am raging so hard right now. The TWO most asked questions ever. In one thread.
You are trying to install an i777 ROM (maybe AT&T or T-Mobile) to an ordinary i9100. Download the proper ROM and install it.

It's impossible to tell. The splash screen comes when SPOILER: the flash counter has been tripped And status 7 comes back like every week somehow

Fail... twice. T-Mobile doesn't have I777s and that triangle is for tripping the flash counter. It could be an I9100 or an I777.
OP: your issue is you haven't searched enough. The answer IS out there... ALL OVER THE PLACE!
Here's a clue. Read the fu¢king stickies. Yes, a bit of emoragekill. Why? Because you haven't put more then 45 seconds into finding the answer. It took you longer to create this thread than you spent searching.
I gave you the answer. This thread has run its extremely unnecessary course.

Pull the battery and make sure which phone you have. Go to that forum and look for a 'stock rooted rom' and follow those instructions. Then you should not have a problem flashing cm10 (if it is available)

I have recently bought an S2 and i love it ! The thing is , i used to have an LG Optimus 2x , which`s OS sucked and i`ve rooted it and used an custom ROM , Paranoidandroid to be more precise. Now what im wondering is , does the S2 worth being rooted and use a custom ROM , like lets say CM 10.1 ? Since this phone is smooth anwyayz and dosent have any RAM problems because of the 1gigs it has ... will it be even smoother ? And if i flash the CM 10.1 is it gonna have any major bugs ? Oh and also , should i install a custom kernel as well ? Thanks!
Too late , already bircked it hahah , now im dowloading a stock rom so i can start everything again lmao

I haven't tried samsungs JB, but going from samsungs ICS to CM9 was a great difference for me. I very much preferred their app alternatives over samsungs, and the standard theme looked way better.
Nothing you can't fix with root though I suppose.

You bricked it by flashing a ROM or by rooting it?
If you ran outta juice while doing any of those you could have a soft brick instead of a hard brick.

First i`ve tried to flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693 and the root it with SuperOneClick , and it got bricked when i`ve flasehd the CWM recovery , then i`ve reinstalled the stock version of the 4.0.4 Rom and used a volatile CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 this one , and everything went as expected , i had superuser in it and such , then i`ve proceed to flash the cm10.1 archive , everything went fine , even flashed the gapps , then , i`ve wanted to do a full wipe and factory reset , which was recomanded on the cm10.1 thread and thats the part where it got stuck and shut down , while it was charging with that charge which wasnt the original one.
hello,
today i bricked my SGS2, i have read similar problems and realize the solution might be replacing my motherboard.
i still have waranty...
my question, if they change my motherboard, will the flash counter back to 0?
will the know if my phone was rooted?
i'm affraid of voiding my warranty :crying:
please help me.
Ok.....so there are several different levels of "brick" (CMIIW)......
Bootloop.....recovery and download modes are both accessible and wiping cache and dalvic will fix the problem....
Softbrick 1....recovery and download modes are accessible, wiping cache and dalvic doesn't solve things but reflashing the ROM in recovery does......
Softbrick 2....Only download mode accessible....flashing a firmware via odin fixes the problem.....
Hardbrick 1.....neither recovery or download modes are accessible, but you still get the battery charging symbol appearing when you plug in your charger....a jig *might* get you into download mode to flash a firmware, a jtag *might* also help......
Hardbrick 2 (aka...call in the undertaker).....no recovery, no download, no signs of life even if the charger is plugged in....jig and jtag will NOT help.....mainboard replacement by Samsung the only option......
On that list....where are you? And what were you doing to the phone to cause it?. Also, what firmware/ROM were you on before it went "pear shaped"?.......

I have left the following message when you turn on the phone after wanting to upgrade "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again" (is the explanation that a friend gave me, the team is his, I thought I could give him a hand and he had had a similar situation on my Galaxy S2, which solved .)
As I have already downloaded firmware, full package proceeded to try to flash it with ODIN reaching it in the picture, then odin and not advance, usually gives error, but more than that I failed.
I can't see the pictures you posted but i'm pretty sure there's a couple of threads that can help you sort this one out.

I think Kies is not the problem because I tried on 3 different computers, and also tried on all ports of each computer.
How about the cable then?
Odin versions?

Ok Carlos, how about siyah?
@OP:
Time to start over again. There must be something wrong in what you are doing.
Here is a checklist of stuff to try when Odin flash fails:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25731280&postcount=4
Please try each and all, and see if u can flash successfully.

I have searched almost half an hour but didn't find the instructions so I'm making a new thread.
I'm currently on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 stock rom rooted via Siyah kernel 6.0 b5.
I have downloaded stock 2.3.5 JPKJ2_I9100OJPKJ1 from sammobile.com. the rom is in .md5 file.
So can I just downgrade by using ODIN and selecting the .pda and having tick on Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time or are there any extra settings for downgrading?
Really looking forward for someone to answer it briefly.
and btw, Sorry for my bad english.
Mobile Odin.
PS: I have a smoke while sipping pepsi walking out the dog, that takes half an hour.
You should be looking at 2-4 hours to get the info you need. Always spare that time for researching.

I'm on stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 ROM rooted with Siyah kernel 6.0b5.
1 thing more, if I dont want to keep rooted when downgrading? I'm asking this because I can also root 2.3.5 via CF Root if I need it later.
and I already made a nandroid backup and also of EFS.
I think that was meant for me.
LSW.

Okay so,
I want to Flash LSW but my PC doesn't reconize the device (Micro USB Port problem), so I have to flash with Mobile Odin but I'm scared.
I'd like to know if there is any risk of brick/bootloop or any other problem when flashing with MO ?
Have anyone had any issue with it ?
May I select Wipe data, cache & Dlavik cache ?
Is LSW stable ?
Thanks a lot in advance
Go ahead and flash it.
Let me tell you a story.
A friend started having some issues with his device and sent it to a guy, so he could check it out plus change it's smashed screen.
This guy did change the screen and he flashed a branded GB firmware (who the hell knows why).
Of course, he didn't back the EFS folder up resulting in a IMEI gone situation.
He gave it to me so I could work some magic.
I was on GB, rooted with doomlord oneclick. Got M.O.P, a couple of GB and JB ROMs, siyah v6, supernexus and CM 10.1.
With that set up I can go back and forth with all stock ROMs and flash siyah v6 (.tar) whenever I need/want to go custom.
So there you have it, that SII haven't had to be plugged in to any PC.
Will it have to?
Hardly.
If it ever gets stucked in a bootloop you got recovery to deal with it.
If, IF something fishy happens, I still got odin to work something out.
I don't see how, to me M.O is the safest way to flash a device.
Why?
Easy, when you f/#k up in Odin, you ONLY got odin to work it out.
When you $&! k in M.O, you STILL have Odin to make snazzy moves.
BAM

Thanks a lot for your answer, it's very helpful. I'll flash as soon as I repair this damn USB Port (for the 2nd time).
THANKS, THANKS AND THANKS AGAIN
You only need the usb to charge it.
Download the ROMs to your phone or use dropbox.
