CDMA (Sprint is CDMA) phones are not locked to a carrier like GSM phones are. Have you tried to activate it with your carrier again?

I will appriciate any help..
Im not a bright bulb but wouldn't a factory reset do the trick...idk just sayin
mean Ics evo3D
treid factory reset but didnt help.. anyone can tell me how to reunlock it plzz...
Sounds like you need the MSL to program the phone (add in your mobile number, mms, mobile ip settings, etc). You'll also need your provider's PRL file, and if you have another device handy you can put in your SIDs so you don't get the roaming triangle.
There's a lot of good threads on XDA and elsewhere that go into specifics on how to change these settings. I believe there was a thread that details how to change the Evo 3D over to metropcs, could just follow those directions and add in your carrier's settings as needed.
have you tried flashing your unlock_code.bin again? you should be able to reuse the file you got from htcdev
It is easy

Hey buddy, i am from karnataka, if you were here i could have done the programing for you, anyways downgrade your Hboot to 1.4 . If you have more problems send me a message, it is not so difficult, i have a HTC EVO 3D
I am busy with flashing my evo 3d to the gsm network i am trying to use the method off the rezound. i already flashed a rezound radio only it is bootlooping on the bootanimation. i will try later to port over a whole rom off it to get the EVO 3D CDMA to run on the GSM network. i already tried flashing the evo 3d gsm radio they say don't do it but i did (i am a baddass ) the rom is also bootlooping so it maybe is possible to get a cdma phone to run on the gsm band but it will only take some work. with trying this i was inspired by this post

While there is some gsm hardware included, to use it requires a lot of firmware hacking. It's much more complicated than flashing some radios. You will not find a guide so unless you are very knowledgeable about hacking phone firmware I would not expect to do what you are attempting.

Meh, its not that hard. I did it on a GB rom just to see. The hardest part will be getting a sim card in a CDMA phone. The rezound worked because it already had sim provisions and a neutered gsm capable chipset. I don't believe our chipset supports all the needed gsm frequencies anyways...

so my friend just got an evo 3d. I currently have the shift.
So ill be new to the 3d forums and asking a lot of questions!
My first question, what's cdma and gsm? I noticed you guys had two different development forums for the 3d.
And anything else a beginner should know about this phone?
Evo SHIFT
Cdma: Sprint and Verizon, gsm: tmobile and at&t, basically different cellular networks. Also as far as things to know, so far only way to unlock after latest HTC update is the official HTC method, which still leaves u with s-on. If the phone isn't updated yet, don't update it, use revolutionary to get s-off. I think that's the gist of important things? Haha , anything else I can help with I'd love to try so feel free to ask, but Im actually new to xda myself!

CDMA and GSM are different wireless technologies. To make it easy Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers and AT&t and TMobile are GSM.
The only thing someone who had no knowledge of the differences would notice is that usually (99% of the time) only GSM phones have sim card slots.
So, since you have the shift I am assuming that your friend has the evo3d on sprint. That means he (or she) would need to look at the CDMA development page for info and roms.
gsm is Global System for Mobile Communications cdma is Code division multiple access just in case u wanted to know.in my opinion cdma is better i have used both and find it to work better.if u decided to get a evo 3d and need help rooting and roming just pm me i will be more than happy to help
edit: i wouldn't worry to much about being a beginner there is always someone who will help its a great phone and very user friendly rooting might be a little different then u may have done in the past but not hard to do keep in mind if you get the phone soon do not except the ota when u first get the phone as of right now there is no way to root 2.3.4 but like i said you can pm me anytime and i will be more than happy to help
Yeah evo3d is on sprint.
Now I understand that its cdma.
I'm only a beginner to the 3d cause I'm not familiar with the model. I've rooted my shift plus my cousins evo. So I'm somewhat familiar with the evo family.
Hboot on the 3d is 1.3
I gotta root it with revolutionary. Is this a one click method or do I have to setup sdk and adb commands?
After I root, what's the best recovery for this phone? Is cwm compatible?
Thanks everyone!
Its much appreciated. I love learning about new things.
Also, absurd is the nick name for sense, right?

For revolutionary I'm pretty sure you need adb, but there's great instructional vids and posts on xda guiding you through. Also, you can use cwm, but twrp (team win recovery project) is another good option.

you dont need adb with the revolutionary root/s-off also it is alot easier to stick with that process all the way through with recovery it is basically a one click with a little pre setup. if you need any help with anything just pm me

I've never flashed a CDMA device to a different carrier, so I can only share what I've read on here. I'm sure if I'm missing any details or mistake a piece of information, somebody with more experience or knowledge will post up!
As far as I've read, don't need root access to flash to a different carrier. The carrier information is mostly stored in the radio. Some settings, such as MMS settings are stored in the ROM and changing these settings might require root access.
In order to change the carrier information in the Radio, I think you'll need to use CDMA Workshop as that seems to be the most common software platform for qualcomm CDMA radio communication.
Also, a MetroPCS store might be able to assist with flashing the device over and they should have the correct software/tools.
I've seen quite a few threads pop up around here asking this same question. Here are a few threads which came up in a search I performed on google.com using the terms, xda evo 3d q&a metropcs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303507

Hi everyone , I recently got my EVO 3D and it's GSM , so...can I flash a CDMA one because I saw there are different development forums?
Thanks in advance!
Its not possible unfortunately. The radios are different, if I understand correctly, and flashing a cdma rom on a GSM device is a surefire way to permanently brick your phone. Hope this helps.

Short answer: Yes, but the device will not function properly.
Longer answer plus some optimistic hopes: Flashing only a CDMA ROM onto a GSM device will not permanently brick the device (as quoted above) given the ROM follows standard conventions of only containing the system partition and kernel. The ROM more than likey will not work though assuming the kernel allows the device to boot correctly.
At this point, Android incorporates GSM/CDMA radio types fairly low level into the kernel radio drivers and operating system framework files. Perhaps at some point in the future, both GSM and CDMA will be incorproated into the same kernel and operating system making it easy to switch between. Currently, this isn't the case and requires a bit of work.
Hopefully in the future with more devices receiving one radio capable of both, GSM and CDMA, we could also have the software to support it!
Hope that helps
Thanks for the correction! : )

Actually, I am not getting EVDO/3G network if I use the latest radio(1.12.11.0809) . I have to downgrade to get the EVDO network.
The same thing happened with Sprint GNEX where I used to get EVDO network only on FC12 radio and no other ones.
This is the reason I want to downgrade. I know possibilities of bricking is much higher but there should be some way.

That sounds very risky. I would rather search for downgrading rather than search later for unbricking....
Guess I was one of the lucky ones. I upgraded my radios, then I got horrible 3g and cell service. I just flashed the downgraded radios and was back in business.
So I guess the moral is YMMV.

You should look at captain throwbacks post. I tried to downgrade radios and completely hard brick the phone. Don't risk it man!
Are you guys sure about this downgrading and bricking business? I know on the EVO 4G, the original one, the first exploit to change its ESN was to use an older radio... And I must have downgraded and upgraded radios on that like 5 times...
My memory may be hazy, but I am sure I did that. The same goes for Droid Incredible. Unless EVO LTE is completely different?
I am thinking of upgrading my radio too because I am using the EVO LTE on Verizon, and the signal strength is about 10db worse than a regular VZW 3G, right next to it. But if the update makes things worse, I was wondering if I can just downgrade to the stock radio...
So again, are you guys sure about this?

First off, the Evo LTE is different then previous phones. It uses the newer Qualcomm Secure Boot 3 which does A LOT more version and signature checking. It also uses eMMC flash memory instead of NAND. (Which gives the added ability of setting individual blocks of memory as read-only via low level firmware, before the OS even boots up).
Now, that said, some ppl have bricked their Evo LTE's by DOWNGRADING firmware. The biggest problem is that it's unclear what the exact combinations are which result in a brick. Therefore anyone attempting to downgrade should be very careful and read through both firmware threads before trying it themselves.
As far as using these radio's with Verizon service, your kinda on your own. The Evo LTE is the Sprint version of the HTC One X/XL and therefore the radios are (probably) tuned for best performance on Sprint's network.
And before someone asks, NO you can not use One X/XL radios on the Evo LTE. While in theory they should work, in reality you are almost 100% guaranteed to brick.
Unfortunately the newest generation of phones is much more secure, more complicated and extremely lacking in hardware documentation, compared to older ones.

OK, after reading a lot and with help of all of you guys, I finally downgraded my radio from 1.12.11.0809 then I went to 1.05.11.0606 and then to 1.02.12.0427.
Though it didnt helped me getting 3G signals but downgrading is possible and this may help anyone out there to do the same.
I used the bootloader flashables and just flashed it. I am on 1.19 boot with S-OFF.
Just tried downgrading from 1.12.11.0809 (latest OTA) to 1.05.11.0606 via bootloader and got a brick. I'm on 1.19 S-OFF hboot.
Any ideas on unbricking besides JTAG?
