Does your phone actually report it as the UCLA baseband now? Mine just says "Unknown" no matter which modem I flash.

How are you installing?

I've tried both flashing through CWM and via Odin, depending on how the file is meant to be installed.

I'm not sure if you're kidding, so I am answering you assuming you're not.
The thread was about going back to bone stock to use kies to upgrade but not getting the modem to flash properly. He was able to do that, then was able to get the ics update.
Bottom line -- he returned to stock.
Don't bash me if I misunderstood you. If you do I will burn your house down (just kidding).

Lol I see, an no you right... I misunderstood the whole modem ordeal and thought that he said that he only needed the gb modem to flash through kies to get the update and that seemed strange to i questioned it. Seeing that he returned to bone stock means that was not the case, thanks bro

I still have CWM Recovery. how can I get the Stock recovery back?
Thanks.

Use Kies to install UCLF6 ICS. It will wipe the CWM kermel. The old 3e recovery will be the default.

When you say "flash the stock modem", how is this done? i've looked all over and my mind is numb. Sorry, I'm new. I know how to do the reboot using the up/down + pwr to get into recovery. Is flashing done by executing the zip file on an sd card or on the phone? This is where I am unclear and I dont want to screw up my phone. Thanks for all help.

Is there an Odin .tar version of this by any chance?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Download the zip file.
Use 7zip and unzip the file.
Start Odin.
Put phone in download mode.
Connect to pc. Verify com.
Put modem.bin from zip in odin phone slot and flash.

Just checking

[Help] Can't Acess Recovery and Phone Won't Start

Hi
Yesterday i rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100m VIA The zergrush exploit.
I Tried to flash CWM Via Odin and it did not work!
My phone will not access recovery and when turned on normally says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
I have tried flashing the bootloader, kernel, CSC, modem, and firmware several times but they always fail!
I tried to follow this guide here and it also did not work!
I can not think of what else to do so i have posted this thread here!
Thanks
*EDIT*
This is what originally ****ed me up: http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-r...ckworkmod-recovery-on-rooted-galaxy-s2-i9100/
if you read the comments everyone is having the same issue
*EDIT*
- What is the error you were getting in Odin=I have successfully flashed a pit file and when trying to flash my firmware it comes up with this
<ID:0/004> Added!!
<ID:0/004> Odin v.3 engine (ID:4)..

So it is failing at NAND Write Start!!
- Did you try to flash other recovery's? If yes, then which one= No but i am now
- Do you still have download mode= Yes
- Did you flash .pit files or re-partitoned= Yes i flashed the correct pit file and it succeeded
- What firmware were you on= I9100MKG2
- Did you reinstall the drivers= Several Times
- Tried different usb port / pc= Yes
- Did you try different cables= Yes
So I guess you've flashed a stock I9100M ROM via odin and failed too, right?

Flash custom kernel so you can get to recovery then.
And if you tried that too keep on flashing.

Previously last week Corean0213 had similar problem and got it fixed. My apologies I didn't see/overlooked he flashed GT-N7100 firmware on a SCH-1605 this week. Thinking he still didn't do the 4.3 OTA stock firmware I thought he could re flash with Odin. But guess he made a bigger boo boo then expected with wrong device firmware. uch:

Thanks.. I think the problem might be if that bootloader he flashed is locked down.. If it is then I don't think odin can write over it..

Thx
Edit: I went ahead and wiped cache and data and am starting anew. Does this mean I can try to install a custom recovery again? It still shows the same screen as below.

I tried chainfire's root n900p. Thats when it all started to go wrong. It wouldnt boot into cf's "special recovery" to root the phone. So, I thought I would just try a custom recovery and install a rooted rom from there.
Thats when I tried twrp 2.7.0.1 for 4.3, it did not install.
Then I tried philz touch 6.08.7: it did not install.

I let it reboot all the way. Then turn off completely. I then hold vol+, home, power to get to recovery. It says in blue, "recovery booting". It tries to boot, but it just ends up in a loop and I let it boot to the phone.

I tried again and did not let it boot all the way to the phone. I immediately tried to go into recovery. The TEAMWIN splash screen comes on, then it just loops.

Its been suggested to try the one click restore. I downloaded it, extracted using 7zip and clicked on it. The odin is blank? Is it supposed to be? I downloaded twice to be sure.
what is the difference between mj4 (which I am on) and nc5? Can I just choose either?

Tried two different older twrp's with Odin 1.86 and I have tried with Odin 3.07, still get android recovery with the android on his back and red exclamation triangle. AND it took about 3 times of the vibration for it to boot into the recovery.

Yes. baseband and build as well.
Relash mj4 stock tar on top of what you have. You don't have to wipe anything. Then root your phone then try twrp again.

Cannot OTA update to 4.4.2

I had mk2 installed with root, stock ROM. I tried to update with OTA with no luck, so I unrooted, still no luck
Any ideas how to get the 4.4.2 stock ota upgrade? I got rid of root, but the bootloader still says custom.
Thanks so much
I have same issue.. But I was running saferoot as well

Sounds like you still have something modified on your system from root. You should Odin the no-wipe mk2 odin from here and then try taking to OTA.
Why dint r you just Odin the nb1 and not worry about the update
Sent from my Nexus 5
I had the same custom issue after unrooting. Go back and find the saferoot file you downloaded. ( if you no has go finds again)
Depending where your at you'll need to either re-root and install superuser(let it update) or if you haven't removed SU yet don't do it.
The point is you need to use the uninstall.bat from saferoot to remove the root and then remove root via superuser. reboot (it'l still say custom) and wait 10 mins and then reboot again, should now come up clean.
But from there I still wasn't able to update OTA.
Make sure you didn't have ANY apps frozen via titanium backup or any stock apps deleted. Verizon pulls some crazy sorcery
It will be best to just Odin the no-wope mk2 full tar like I said a few posts up

Is nb1 the new 4.4.2 OTA? Where can we get it? Or is that the leak?
One I update to 4.4.2, I lose root. Am I correct?

NC5 is the OTA version, I just got it to work once I used odin.
I got the OTA to succesfully install after using odin as well. Flashed back to a fully stock rom(mk2) and did a factory reset to remove the "samsung custom" bootscreen. Once that finished, I installed the new OTA

I have a question; under build number on my phone it says JSS15J.I545VRUEMK2
Under Step 1 in the link you provided I don't see my build number listed anywhere, so how do I know which factory image to download and flash?
Thanks for any help. I'm an extreme novice at rooting. I rooted my phone for the first time back in December using saferoot/SuperSU and am a real newbie when it comes to stuff like this, so I'd really appreciate any help.

Flash the one for mk2. What do you want to do? Odin mk2 will put your phone back to a like new condition. If you flash the no wipe version everything on your internal will need preserved.

I'd prefer the no-wipe version, but it doesn't really matter at this point since I have all my stuff backed up and already did a factory reset anyway. I'm just trying to get my phone back to stock so I can do the OTA update.
Again, I know this is probably a real newbie question but when you say "flash the one for mk2", which build file am I supposed to download out of these that are listed in that post you linked me to: VRUAMDK, VRUAME7 or VRUDMI1?

If you are already backed up and want to be on mk2 I'd flash the all in one file from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49687770. Just extract the.tar file from the .rar file using 7-zip

The MK2 ODIN images can be found here. Don't try flashing anything earlier than MK2 if you're planning to go to NC5 via OTA.
Kiss root good bye for the foreseeable future once you upgrade to KK.

You do not have to factory reset to remove the "Custom" screen.
Restore a factory stock image. Boot your phone. Wait an hour or so. Now, reboot. It won't show "Custom" any longer.
You just need to leave the phone running long enough for the scanner to figure out that it's now back to stock.

Ok, cool. And basically, I'm just booting the phone in ODIN mode and then I'm selecting the .tar file under "PDA" on the app on my computer, pressing start and then that's it?
