What's up thresh? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I am trying to set the values for my phone so I can get better battery life. I don't know what up thresh and down diff is. Could someone explain these two and the difference for me, and any other user who views this thread?

[Q] Haptic Feedback and battery life.

So I know this is probably more a general question rather than a Fascinate one, but I troll these boards more often so here goes.
I did a Google search on it and saw some very differing opinions on the subject, but just to re-rattle some brains, how much do you all think haptic feedback affects battery life? Obviously there are many variables on this (amount used etc.) but overall is it a noticeable difference if disabled?

saurom wins best battery in my books
i went on a craze testing different roms specifically for battery life. the best battery i got was using saurom gb rom. 1.5 days!! i would say i was aiming for light/moderate usage at the time.
i got decent usage on seraphim ics rom, more on the heavy usage side when i was testing this rom. little over 12hrs. i love it graphically and how smooth ics is, but since im on my phone alot saurom suited my power taste better.
to save as much battery as possible, my config:
- antutu battery saver app
- brightness always at a minimum
- vibrate always off, silent at office, sound only everywhere else
- screen filter app in the dark
- wifi off (test purposes, its a given u'll save more when on wifi)
- auto sync off (im always on it so refreshing apps i need on the fly was good enough, i dont always need to know who emails or facebooks me every sec)

Another battery thread and another thread with people posting how long the battery lasts...
SCREEN ON time people. IMO the most important stat you can post for these battery threads. Who cares if you phone lasts 17 days...but the screen was only on for 5 mins.
My best is just over 4 hours. Haven't quite gotten that again tho.

Agree. Screen time should be 90% determination. Here are mine. I'll be able to get to 4 hours screen time with Juice Defender and RootDim.

ok we all know this but why?

we all know that the battery life is crap on the amaze. It's no surprise. What I've been wondering since is why? why is it such a battery hog. In terms of CPU and ram, it's only slightly higher than the sensation and the sensation has a great battery life. I know the sensation and Amaze are completely different phones and hardware is completely different, but what makes the amaze have such a bad battery life? anyone ever able to figure this out?

Might be the kernel, extra horsepower, less optimizations than the sensation?
I always assumed it was the absolutely stunning screen that did it.

It's the display, it uses too much power and heats up too quickly, which uses more energy than it should, that's just imo though.
i used google maps tonight to get to my daughters swim meet. 2 hours and 29 minutes uptime and my battery literally went from 100% to 35%, no exaggeration. the only thing i was amazed by was how ****ty my battery life is. oh well, 2 more days and this phone goes in the drawer to collect dust

The display for sure since we're rockin' that qHD, now had it been a Super Amoled - it'll make a big difference in terms of power usage. I've set my display to the lowest (helps out battery drainage most of the time) and i've also downloaded JuiceDefender (works great).

with the emerging on aosp roms, we can tweak the voltage that certain parts of hardware get. you never know, this phone might have had a code problem like the gs3 where they accidentally set the voltage too high and the phones battery died like crazy

Pay 200-300 for a phone to have it for 6 months only to give it to a stranger?
Terrible idea of an investment. Especially since he wouldn't be able to get any benefit since he would no longer own the phone.

Is my rezound just defective?

So I've been struggling with battery life on this rezound since I purchased it. It does get hot every now and then sometimes for no reason. I was waiting for aosp to come along to determine if it was just sense or the phone itself but since its not fully operational and makes my rezound hot as hell, I've stuck with sense roms for my day to day. The following screen shots are venom Rom desensed by me, including no weather, or facebook. The only thing syncing manually is gmail. That's it. No gaming here either. Downloaded a 7mb song, listened to mp3s with headphones and cruised the web a bunch.

That's about what I had using viperrez, although it seems your phone is discharging quickly when screen is off. I'd recommend under clocking when screen off to about 500mhz that works for me. Doesn't help with the screen on time though

1.) sense 4 is a MAJOR battery hog. id advise not to use ut unless your showing off
2.) i usually get 2hrs screen on, so id say NOT defective
3.) if you want like an extra 30-60 mins, try aosp. its fast and good on battery
hope this helps
Thanks for the replies guys I appreciate it. I did forget to mention something though... This is with the extended battery I know 2 hours would be about right on standard but I would think the extended should yield more no?

Most likely yes, isn't the extended battery 1.5x? Either way, battery consumption is hard to perfect. Like I said maybe underclock or find a battery saving build. Prop script to try I know system tuner pro has one built in.

Check out "android tuner" by 3C. If you have battery monitoring on it will tell you everything you want to know about your battery. You can even name and save different batteries to compare their stats.
As someone who has a 5200, don't at all be hopeful it's going to report anywhere near 5200. The most I've seen is a report of about 3800 on mine. And that was a few weeks ago. These batteries degrade alarmingly quickly.

To be honest, I don't know. I've seen it twice, and both times I was not looking for it. Every time I've set out to find it, I have NO clue where I was. I don't know if it was some app I had installed for a short time and the mah reporting was a bi-product. I honestly do not know. I know I've seen it. I know one time i was like 3700 and another time it said like 38 and some change. But, that's it.
I don't believe an app that is simply installed can determine mah.
The rating is an expression of the amount of time it takes to drain a battery by using a known load. I know some calibrating apps will try and determine the mah after the user inputs various stats and after a period of usage will try to estimate the value.
Let me know if you remember the app, thanks.
