Why would Samsung only put ina dual core. Just doesn't seem legit enough to me

Also IMO, they havent even officially launched ICS for it through any canadian carrier. So, Why would samsung go through the troubles of updating a phone hardware? let the success ride itself out for a bit.

I don't know i was kinda shock its like the shelf life of high end phones around 6 to 7 months then wham a new version. Now I did read that the slll will have only a duel core due to the quad doesn't play well with lte. Maybe that's why a duel core. Idk. One thing I've noticed is the phones are never complete to me. The one x has the quad core great camera but then no sd card. The note great but doesn't have the s4 chip. It's like all the phones have one major features lacking just so u may have to upgrade or move on to the next one.
What about a phone that has
Quad core
Sd card
2gb of ram
Super almoled screen
Lte
Lastest os
Thin
Great camera
Great processor
The ultimate phone all the best of the recent phones. Now that would be hot.

It won't be much longer and this phone will have been out for a year. My next Note will be an international one since LTE is not appealing to me. Bring it!
"Due to its incredible success Samsung has started to work on its predecessor the Galaxy Note 2."
Who writes these things? I doubt predecessor is the word they wanted to use.
Successor must have confused them
I don't buy it, the specs just don't add up. .2" bigger is quite bigger even though it doesn't seen so, only 1.5gb of ram whb the s3 has 2? The processor? Nah its a fake
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Of course it's fake. Samsung has never stated that they intend to make another Note. It is pure conjecture.
Look what happened when they dropped the screen size half an inch with the S3. All of a sudden it is cool to have a ginormous screen. Hopefully it won't dissuade them to keep it above five inches.
The S3 is getting an SPen (called a CPen) very soon as well. Maybe the next Note will be one of the five Nexus phones dropping this year.
Who knows. Hell the one true fact of technology is you can't really keep up. There will always be the next hotness around the bend. Wow I didn't relize the note had been out so long I guess cuz Att just got it in March/April but i guess it has been out longer internationally.

That's how it usually works. International first and then the Americas. I am surprised the S3 is being released this quickly in the U.S. to be honest. Maybe they are trying to soak up some of the 'would be' iPhone 5 buyers although it is probably more along the lines of supply and demand.
Yea...I agree with you!

To many little things in this article don't add up fire me to believe any more than maybe the timing.
First, it's either written by someone whose native tongue is not English or something... And why would the SG3 get quad core and the revised note be dual core? Just because if the lte thing? Makes no sense.
And why would they repeat the crap about over 300 dpi again as they do.
The while thing: Smells funny to this kid and when it smells like poop, it usually is.

Actually i would recommend the North America model
With it's LTE chip and Qualcomm Krait it outperforms the quad core exynos in a lot of aspects
As someone who has owned both (currently with the S3) you will be fine with either one of them.
Get the Galaxy Nexus if you want:
- Quick stock Android updates
- On screen buttons
- Access to an already large development scene
Get the S3 if you want:
- Better camera
- Larger display
- Better CPU
- Micro-SD support
- Touchwiz extra's
Since I like quick updates and on screen buttons I may be moving back to the Galaxy Nexus but I haven't fully decided.
Do you guys think the new Nexus later this year will have micro sd support? And maybe LCD IPS instead of super amoled?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If I had to upgrade today then I'd do the same thing over and get the S3. I have to admit that I am absolutely green with jealousy over the Google Now feature in JellyBean that Nexus owners have just got...
S3 is a great phone, but I think that I'm going to sell it and get (one of) the new Nexus phone(s) later in the year, presuming it's a bit smaller. S3 is a bit too big for me to operate safely (ie. held securely) and comfortably (ie. holding it too long gives me cramp) with one hand. I think something slightly smaller would be a better fit for me.
Also, the value of being the reference device for Google is something I never really appreciated before now - I've spent years flashing Android phones with ROMs that are basically beta-tests, following Google putting out a new software version.
Not taking anything away from the devs at all I really appreciate their work, but it's really hard to get a decent ROM working on a phone that it was never designed for/drivers aren't available for/OEM hasn't put out an update for. And I know that despite being a really popular device, the S3 probably has a really long wait until a nice fully working JellyBean is available for it.

I hope it'll have external storage support. The screen I'm not too bothered about - my S3 is more than good enough for me, even if it's not technically the highest res around. If the new Nexus has that, or even better a SuperAMOLED Plus, or an IPS LCD screen then I'd doubtless be happy with it.
So, I have been using my SGS3 for about 6 weeks and I am loving it. This phone is loaded with so much technology that I can not really see what more I would need in a phone.
1.4 dual core CPU
2GB memory
LTE
GPS
Music and video player
Gorgeous 4.8" screen
Will this not last me a few years? This phone will not be obsolete any time soon.
What more would I really need in a phone? I know in the future phones will have more stuff built into them, but to what end? I can actually see myself using this phone until it is dead.
I know there are people who upgrade to the latest and greatest every time something new comes out, but the average person does not. So, will you upgrade to what ever comes out next , and if so, why? Or will you keep your phone for a while?
For those who will upgrade, what would you like to see in the next phone that the S3 does not already have? Coffee maker? Juice squeezer? Clothes Iron? Hamburger maker? Nail polish applier?
Ian

this ^ plus there's bound to be a whole host of features... Soon (well I'm hoping) phones will be completely voice controlled. although I quite like the gesture control (someone over in the apps forum has developed something)
There are never "needs" to upgrade just "desires". I will be upgrading if the next phone has HD Super Amoled Plus.
I've had all iphones ... then changed to android with the S2 and now the S3, i'm prepare for iphone 5 or Galaxy S4 ...

Depending on the design of the next Google Nexus phone, I'll be getting that.
Most likely it will be a Motorola product
It will be obsolete in 15 months. Trust me.
When the S2 was released, about 1 and a half years ago, people said the same thing: it'd the "the phone" for years to come. Now that I've had my S3 for about the same time as you, I look at my old S2 (that I gave to my wife) and think how was I able to use such a tiny screen!
The thing is: our expectations will shift upwards, new technologies will emerge and things we don't even know that exist today are things that a couple years from now we won't be able to live without.
I refrain my self from saying "this will be my phone for xx years", because I am a tech addict, a gadget junkie! I remember clearly that a couple weeks before the release of the S3 I wrote in the XDA S2 forums that I wouldn't spend a dime on moving from my S2 to the S3... until I held it in my hands! I wrote that there is nothing in the S3 that I couldn't have from the S2.... how wrong was I ?

Exactly the same with me
If they make a phone with
- no wake up lag
- no physical home key
- 2 GB RAM
and leave everything else the same as SGS3, I'll buy it immediately.
Galaxy nexus would be a perfect phone for me if it has sd card slot and better SoC at least like s2, now when google put tegra 3 in nexus 7 which performs really well it's obvious that next nexus phone will be equipped like this or even better . So i'm 95% sure Nexus 4 or whatever it's called, will bey next one

Hi,
Just saw this vid about the Galaxy Note 2 and its S Pen features. >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTMfkG8a-2g&feature=BFa&list=HL1346344641
My question is... what are the chances that the geniuses here at XDA can replicate some or all of these functions for the S3 if you had an S Pen?
Ideally it would be nice to have extra functions when you hover the pen over the screen, and pressure sensitive handwriting.
Having seen this vid, I'm quite disappointed that the S3 I love so very much, is no longer the Samsung Daddy! :crying:
What do you think? Forget the size difference, just features, is the Note 2 looking more functional than your S3?

Both the screen and the pen react to each other
i will be getting the Note 2 as long as it has LTE WITH its quadcore......if not then they can keep it. i have the international s3 and after coming from the skyrocket and galaxy note LTE version. this s3 just crawls on the network.
so im hoping the quads will get LTE this time around.
Im sure I heard that it would be 4G with the quad core.
(OFF TOPIC)
I'm British with an International S3. I phoned my network/carrier this morning and asked if my S3 would be compatible with 4G when we get it in the UK (By the end of the year apparently). He assured me it would be. Why can't the International S3 get 4G in the US?

The screen is capacitive for your finger and also inductive for the pen. That is how your hand doesn't draw lines on the screen while you are writing as the capacitive part gets turned off while the pen is being used. At least that's how it works on my Note 10.1 and I'm assuming the Note 2 is the same
I believe it's the pen that senses the pressure and tells the pone.
Here's hoping all the cool stuff from the N2 turns up in the JB release for the N10.1!!!

I think he lied! I'm sure I read somewhere on here that the quad core processor in our S3 cannot receive LTE and that's why the US version uses a dual core instead
EDIT: It is the radio chip in our S3 that is incompatible with LTE source http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2012/05/25/the-sexier-samsung-galaxy-s3-you-can-never-buy-in-the-uk/

cant be just the pen who's pressure sensitive.
If it's really only the pen, u could actually reengineer the pen to work capacitive, which would give any other user the same experience as the Note..
Either way.. Im wondering what JB-Features they add for the S3.. as we've seen there are quite some near features for the NoteII.. nothing u couldn't do with the S3 I believe

I did say to him - I thought the (international) S3 didn't have a 4G compatible radio. He then asked if I had received a new sim with the phone. I said a micro sim. And he said then it would be no problem. He said something about how he works for a specialist department and he could ping my phone and get certain info back from it about its capability.
I'm wondering (which I now realise I should've asked) will the British 4G network infrastructure be different to the US? Meaning we wouldn't need the same phone hardware as US 4G users to receive the same speeds.
In fact, I might just call them back tomorrow.

actually many of the features can be implemented without S Pen.
It will be bad if samsung don't give us that super cool gallery, best faces, video seeking preview,etc...

but not alot better than s3
so i think i will stick with my s3
despite being painful, i think i'll keep my S3 until the S4.. i think i read spring 2013? i'm really curious already about it :fingers-crossed:
i think i would have definitely upgraded to the note if it had quad cpu and higher resolution. quad core isn't enough to warrant because i don't see many apps making use. probably a battery killer too.
Wow! We're talking S4 already!!
The initial envy I had for the Note 2 is starting to fade. As I have the international S3, I think the hardware's pretty much the same, just bigger screen and overclocked. And all the software differences could be addressed with a few updates. Jelly Bean being the main one.

I worried that samsung might not provide those features update to us(international s3 users). they might want to keep them exclusive to note only.
Seem like samsung spent more time innovating on Note series than on S series
But I see all S3 features are available on Note2
Now that there is confirmed news about the LG Nexus [Source], are you guys considering moving from the SIII to the Nexus ??
Don't get me wrong, the SIII is an awesome piece of hardware, but the lack of documentation from the Samsung Exynos team is a well known issue. That, to me, is the most important reason anyone would wanna move to the Nexus.
But I want to hear more opinions as to the advantages as well as disadvantages of the Nexus vs. the SIII.

I just wanted to say something similar - of course it will just be outsourced to some company in Asia and will not be very competitively priced (unless you have an internal deal or something) since Google does not want to alienate any manufacturer!
That being said the openness is an interesting advantage (after the problems that I had with my S3 - which I discovered it was a patched version instead of a real IMEI unlock as I thought when I bought it).
LG left a sour taste in my mouth a few years back so I don't think I'm jumping ship, plus the specs leaked so far aren't too impressive.
However that new HTC with the 5inch 1080 screen has me interested...
