[Q] Custom roms that support 64 GB microSD(sdxc) ? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
Do any of you know of any custom roms that will 100% support the use of microSD 64 GB cards (SDXC)? Both of the roms i use (ICS Slim 4.2 and Energy HD 1.7) do not. I'm testing and testing roms but so far no luck.
Thanks in advance

roms have nothing to do with the compatibility of sdcards.... The kernel does

Slim ICS is running the Siyah kernel which should support the exfat module right? Not working.

Try formatting your partition as fat32.
You'll need to remove the card from the phone and use a special program on the computer to do so.
Compatibility with fat32 should be far better than with exfat.
Altough you could try formatting it with ntfs, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestion but even if i would want to lose write/read speeds by doing that, I still wouldn't be able to do i because I do not have a card reader anymore.
After searching all over, the answer was closer than I thought. OMEGA 7.1 did the trick for me. Thank you again for the help.

Done. Twice. Problem Still persists, although the partitioning was done by cwm 5.0.2.6, so imma try on the official one again
Yup, I have problems too with a2sd. My ext4 partition on SD corrupt and because ext4 inherited ext2 so fsck take a long time to recover.
I wish somebody add more fs support like jffs or another journaling fs that suitable to android.

{Guide}How to Use you SD Card for internal Apps"SD Swap" using script

""Edited""
I think this is a much better option
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127203
Directory bind and here is the video someone made on youtube for it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8PyqCOpERA
Make sure you are already rooted
install "Smanager"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.tools.scriptmanager&hl=en
grab file attached and extract and put it in /data using smanager
change the file permission to 777
click on the app2sdNote2 file and click in SU/Boot and is script and hit save.
reboot and you are done
I am running CleanROM ACE 4.0.5V with Unsecure Boot Image - L7 Base - Anim Support.zip kernel from Scott
http://www.scottsroms.com/showthrea...Fixes-Exynos-exploit!-With-Without-Boot-Anim!
http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=323
Credit goes to everyone else, I just collected the info from other people!!
I dont take credit for any of it
This should be a tad more specific. This is just an sdswap script. I got really excited thinking this script would allow us to install apps 2 the sd.
Re: {Guide}How to Use you SD Card for internal Apps
That is what it does, you can intall spps in your SD

I'm not debating the ability of the script to allow apps to be installed to the sd card, but you are really just swapping the external/internal memory. Go to the Q&A and there are quite a few threads on this, both on the advantages and disadvantages. There seems to be quite a few compatibility issues once 4.2 comes around and there have been a few issues regarding utilizing this method.
I'm just saying you should've said SD swap script or explained in the OP what this script does. It isn't as simple as you can install the apps to the SD. You can install apps the the sd, but it accomplishes this by switching the external out for the internal.
Re: {Guide}How to Use you SD Card for internal Apps
Beans' ROM has sdswap included if a person wants it.
But yeah I posted a thread quite sometime back about the video. With Perseus kernel it even gets trickier.....but not with beans it doesn't. That guy is a genius.

The main problem with this script is at times it takes up to a minute after the phone has started for it to "kick in" (observable by looking at the Storage tab).
Does anyone know a way where we could prioritize this script so that it happens faster?
It worked fine for me, didnt take that long to take effect, but I prefer the new metod now. Much better I think

Hello! New to the note2 coming from a nexus. The 1st night I spent unlocking rooting and setting up phone how I like it but just like everybody else I ran into the Sd issue. 1st I tried the method that op recommended but the app had problems and it suked having to do everything manually. So than I tried this method and could not get it to work! I thought I knew what ( change permissions too 777 was? Does this mean the r-rw stuff? And is this the mod that beans 7 rom uses?
Please!! if someone can be kind and help with this questions I never had to deal with this Sd problems in the past.

If you look in the S3 forums you'll find zips that you can flash for the sd swap. They have four different files depending on exFAT, FAT32, stock kernel, or custom kernel. Make sure that you flash the correct one.

It used to work flawlessly for me but all of a sudden it stopped working.
Will elaborate more when on my computer.
So the s3 zips will work for note 2? I just downloaded a zip that works with exfat & fat32 but won't try just yet

[Q] No external storage available? CM 10.1

Hey guys, today I flashed CM 10.1 Final Release on my Sprint GS3 and whenever I try to use the camera or gallery, I get a message saying "No external storage available." Any help?

Put your Micro SD in your PC and !back your Micro SD card up!, install Acronis Disk Director and format your Micro SD from exFAT to FAT32.
You will lose all your data on your micro sd card if you format it. Back it up!
CUSTOM ROMS ONLY SUPPORT FAT32.
IT DOESNT SUPPORT exFAT.
 Good luck!
Sincerely,
Rareme.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Also it could be due to a bug in the rom. Try reflashing the rom if the method mentioned by the poster above me doesn't work.

[Q] Installing custom ROMs

I was able to successfully root my fiance's l769 thanks to user captaincrook's thread about a method brought about by, i believe, user jcase. My question is, will I still have to use the method in d33ps1x's tutorial for using link2sd if i flash a custom rom??
captaincrook - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338816 this worked amazing for rooting if anyone still needs to root. I used it for a T-mobile and it was super succesful and was rootchecker verified.
d33ps1x - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459 i actually used this method and it appeared to work great by partitioning a portion of the external sd to ext2 format. i'm not really sure if i should have used ext2, ex4 or fat32 but i went with ext2 and it seemed to work out alright. i was able to swing something like 40 apps/the data from the apps over without too many problems (the sd card got a little soggy recenty so it's been acting finicky so we removed the partition and reformatted back to a primary fat32.
but...would i still have to use that method if i flashed a custom rom like cm10.1 or miui or aokp?
