Since this morning I'm having no vibration feedback when using my phone. The feedback is checked in menu. Is my phone broken?
Type:*#*#7378423#*#* in the phone dialer and in the menu that you get you can test if your phone vibrates and stuff like that, you can also check simlock and bootloader unlock allowed

My phones notifications have spontaneously stopped working. Was working tonight and today it isn't.
It no longer vibrates for all notifications including sms, email, Whatsapp, facebook etc. Vibration for calls and haptic feedback work fine.
I am using the stock rom. Tried jiggling all settings and many soft resets to no avail.
Any ideas? Please help!

Make sure once again that Vibration set to 'Always' under Sound - Settings.
Yes that was the first thing I tried haha
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
And you made sure that under Email app it is also set to Always?
Yes that and every single app that creates notifications. As I said this problem spontaneously manifested itself. It literally appeared overnight when everything had been fine and dandy before which is why I am so stumped.

My phone keeps (seemingly randomly) performing a very short vibration when using it. I've checked logcat but can't see anything obvious that's causing it.
I don't have haptic feedback on, no accessibility options enabled and no keyboard input vibrations. I've also turned off smart alert.
Its stock, rooted and I've frozen/removed most of the bloatware.
Any ideas?

Maybe you are using the leaked JB 4.2 stock ROM?

"I've also turned off smart alert"
Thanks, but it isn't on (see above).
Does anyone have any real suggestions of what's going on?
I'm wondering if there is some kind of background error vibration that occurs?

I know this is a long route to take, but uninstall all your apps, or as many as you can, and see if this still happens, I suspect an app is causing this,I had similar on S1, and I'm sure it came down to a rogue app
I've found similar (maybe connected) issue. When I receive for example the text message the screen remains turned-off, however when I touch it, it shortly vibrates once. When I turn the screen on it is still at the pattern locker. Not annoying but strange behaviour.

It won't unlock your phone. You can see home page for 0.01sec ....
No issue to me

I can't verify it atm but according ho published articles, one in many attempts will present you with an unlocked screen.
However no article I read elaborated on whether the issue is in the framework or lockscreen - so if it affecte the default lockscreen or any custom ones too.

It will unlock your phone and you have to reboot it for the ability to use the lock screen to come back.
I could reproduce this twice on my phone but not on a colleagues despite multiple attempts. Both UK unlocked, latest firmware.
Im running 4.2.1 leaked version and wasn't able to reproduce the bug.
It did crash my phone though
I've done this multiple times and I was unable to unlock my phone. I'm only able to see the home screen for a split second but then it goes back to the lock. I got different people to try and unlock the screen but to no avail.
Unrooted S3
same here , only shows home screen less than second , only thing you can do is click one applications but you won't even see it open. except you have quick dial widget on homescreen which will annoy your friend, that's all...
---------- Post added at 08:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 PM ----------
and it is not major bug , only something like SDS or Exynos security problem are called MAJOR ...

So a couple of things.
1.) you're describing the behavior when you've failed to activate the real bug. Yes it shows the home screen, but if you time things correctly, the lock doesn't come back up.
2.) Leave auto rotation on, and try landscape mode. I found it was easier to hit that way.
3.) Tapping home then power at the right time takes some practice. You may have to try multiple times.
I was trying to unlock with the settings I always have (no screen rotation,.5 animation, etc). Not going to enable them just to see IF someone can unlock my phone. Plus I took 20 mins to try and unlock it with an additional 15 mins from my Husband and that didn't do the trick. I'm not willing to try and spend hours testing to see if my luck finally kicks in

AW: galaxy s3 major bug, bypass lockscreen
Yeah, you did it wrong... Try it a few times, it'll work.... On all SIII's it'll work! If your homescreen appears 1 sec, you did it too slow!!
Greetings....

How fast are you supposed to do it then as I'm so fast sometimes it doesn't react at all.

Possible fix
It appears that this bug does not exist if you enable S-Voice by going into it's settings and checking the 'open via home key'. I was able to unlock 4 times on my GS3 while the 'open via home key' option was disabled. Once enabled, I have not been able to bypass unlock.

Yeah you must deactivate SVoice and then you must type in the wrong code until its locked for ten seconds... Then It'll work!!

Hi,
Samsung is really slow to react and push a fix on this case... On my opinion its a serious security issue and Samsung should react faster
