Hi guys,
What does this code means? XXALF6
I see this in some ROM's
Thanks
It's code to tell you when the rom was built
the first 3, in this case "XXA" denote the region
The following letters all translate to numbers:
First is the Year - L = 2012
The next is the Month (or is meant to be, samsung have gone a bit strange lately) - So F is 6, 6th month is June
and last is the build version for that month
So, if I want to install a new ROM I have to choose one with the same region code?
Mine is:
AP: I9300XXALE8
CP: I9300XXLE8
CSC: I9300DBTALE5

Not necessarily, if its custom roms your looking at most will work in any region, or require you to flash the correct CSC from another rom.
If its a stock rom, then you can mix and max CSC files (flash via ODIN) if you wish.

No but it makes more sense to do so for inexperienced users .

I want to install a stock ROM, I'm using SGS3 Toolkit and it asks me this:
SGS3 STOCK IMAGE FILES AVAILABLE
--------------------------------
GSM MODEL
1. XXALE8 4.0.4 (Build IMM76D) [AVAILABLE FROM SAMSUNG-UPDATES.COM]
2. XXALEF 4.0.4 (Build IMM76D) [AVAILABLE FROM SAMSUNG-UPDATES.COM]
3. XXALF2 4.0.4 (Build IMM76D) [AVAILABLE FROM SAMSUNG-UPDATES.COM]
4. XXALF6 4.0.4 (Build IMM76D) [AVAILABLE FROM SAMSUNG-UPDATES.COM]
I should choose #1, right?

Europe Samsung I9100 Firmwares.

Hi,
It looks like the *#1234# method does not always show the real version of the firmware that is installed.
To get detailed data you have to install Kies_2.0.0.11044_11_3.exe which you can find here:
http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as
Or directly here:
http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...5/20110521192620273/Kies_2.0.0.11044_11_3.exe
After you install it you have to start it up and connect your SG2.
Please wait until Kies connects successfully.
Now you have to open/run regedit (e.g. "Windows-Key" + "R" to open run dialog and then type "regedit").
Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1".
Here you will find the "HIDSWVER" key with the original versions.
The "ProductCode" key is also important in order to help Intratech to get the original Brand ROM.
For example this is the information you should send Intratech when asking for ROMs:
Carrier: Entel PCS Chile
*#1234#
PDA: I9100UHKD7
PHONE: I9100UHKD7
CSC: I9100CHEKD7
Build date: May 4 2011
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]
"HIDSWVER"="I9100UHKE1/I9100CHEKE1/I9100UHKE1/I9100UHKE1"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9100LKLCHE"
Click to collapse
Do it yourself:
On the other hand you can do it also by yourself using "Check Fus Downloader" from LuffarJoh:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032437
Here you can find the executable:
http://fus.nanzen.se/
Or directly here:
http://www.nanzen.se/download.php?id=9
You have to copy the FusCipherUtil.dll from your Kies installation (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\FusCipherUtil.dll ) to the same directory as the "Check Fus Downloader".
Then you have to run "Check Fus Downloader" and set the following in the "Firmware Info" section for the above Entel PCS Chile example:
Product Code: GT-I9100LKLCHE
PDA: I9100UHKE1
CSC: I9100CHEKE1
Phone: I9100UHKE1
In the "Choose a firmware" section you have to select "GT-I9100".
Then click the "Check firmware" button.
In the example test case you will see a successful message in the "Result" section that offers you a "Download this firmware" button.

Why do you need stock kernel
Hi,
I have received an I9300 with 4.0.4 factory version. it is an Orange IL device and latest official version for it is 4.0.4.
i have upgraded my device from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 but the baseband version remained as it was on 4.0.4 (I9300JKLH3).
i would like to ask how should i upgrade the baseband version and if it necessary? and what is the latest official baseband for 4.1.2?
in addition, the output of *#1234# is:
AP: I9300XXELK4
CP: I9300JKLH3
CSC: I9300OJKELK5
Attached a screen shot of my version.
Many thanks in advanced,

baseband and firmware are not the same as you know. if the rom you used to upgrade did not include a new baseband/radio it will keep the old one. You can upgrade it though by flashing one of the basebands/radios you can find in the General Section's collection threat.

You need to do some searching by yourself, that is what the search function is for. EPS Pro for backing up EFS folder: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546 Make a backup before flashing Siyah Kernel, and make sure you have root in order for backup to work.
You can just flash Siyah Kernel v4.1.5 via Odin to prevent brickbug in ICS v4.0.4. Look at my rooting guide in my sig, just change the CF-Root file with Siyah Kernel. Refer here: www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v4/Siyah-s2-v4.1.5.tar
In case you are unsure what brickbug is, the stock 4.0.4 kernel has MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled which bricks your phone when a wipe data command is used in stock recovery. Siyah kernel deals with this by disabling MMC_CAP_ERASE. This command needs to be enabled for the brick to occur, so don't worry about having to change your ROM.
But if I plan to unroot my phone latter on then I will have to get it back on stock and If I flash the same stock 4.0.4 then I wont be able to wipe data thats why I was asking about LPQ. Will it work for me?

Well if you wished to unroot it and return it to stock 4.0.4 again, you would just be where you are now. Yes, you can flash 4.0.3 if you want, although I struggle to understand why you would return it to stock at a later date anyway.
If your network struggles to pick up a good signal on it, there are many modems out there that you can flash to make your network signal stronger. Refer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
