I've owned a bunch of HTC phones but have been having issues with my new HTC Rezound. Whenever I exit certain applications the stock launcher reloads and displays the HTC Splash Screen. Seems to happen most often with Draw Something (but does happen with other apps as well). Anyone else have a similar issue or know of a fix?

I am actually surprised to say this but I am going to say it (knocks on wood) anyway. I know exactly the issue you are speaking of with sense phones in general. have had it happen tons of times on phones from the Droid Eris, to Incredible 1 & 2, TBolt, and they have all done this. I am into week 2 of my rezound and haven't seen it once. {walks away and launcher redraws}.
Are you running any tweaks or mods like the leedroid tweaks?

On my Incredible, I used V6 Supercharger to prevent this (and it worked amazingly well!).
I have V6 on my Rezound, and in the 30+ days I've had it, I've had exactly one re-draw of the launcher, and I really think that was my fault. Check it out!
V6 Supercharger
Thanks for the input. Mine is totally bone stock...I just received it yesterday. On my Incredible it would happen once in a great while. On the Rezound it happens almost consistently. And I wouldn't mind if it didn't take the launcher so long to recover.

When sense does that it either has run out of Memory or forced closed
Sent from my Dinc... I mean Rezound
I figured as much. But that means I'm constantly out of memory which is odd for a bone stock phone. I even turned off back ground processes that might have been sucking up memory. It's bad enough that it makes me want to return the phone.

It could be a memory leak in an app. If you notice it happening with a particular app try uninstalling it and see how it runs.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I've turned off fast boot and cpu timelines which has seemed to help thus far. Worse case I guess I could just restore the phone and reinstall one app at a time. Main culprit definitely seems to be Draw Something though.

Have you checked to see how much memory draw something uses? I know that words with friends is a memory hog.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Good call. Draw Something uses 72MB which is nearly twice as much as other average apps. In fact I would argue that it's almost unacceptable. I still can't believe the launcher wouldn't have a higher memory priority over other user apps though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I noticed this happens when I use Scramble With Friends. It used about 130 MB of memory. Sometimes more so I uninstalled it. Sense uses about the same amount of memory. I think because the phone gets low on memory it shuts down Sense because it is using lots of memory. Seems ridiculous that this happens, but it does.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Sense 3.5 takes up a ton of memory so when its not used and other programs require more ram sense is unloaded. Once you go back to the home screen it has to be reloaded.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Draw Something, Facebook, Any of those games and whatnot constantly streaming data, seem to decide to use all your ram for no reason. I like ICS for the reason that now you can close stuff when your done with it
So when ICS rolls out with Sense 3.6 they'll hopefully have this fixed. I bought this phone for Sense and I'm just amazed how fickle it seems this far.

That's half the answer the problem is the ram is supposed to dump the apps from the ram in order of least important but for some reason the sense launcher drops to a less important level when not in use (to give back more ram I guess). Like many people have said V6 will fix this problem and is super easy to use so I would give that a try is a great script.

I'm starting to get more and more irritated with this phone. I sent my galaxy nexus back for this one and I am starting to regret it. Every time I browse facebook and swipe up or down sometimes it lags about a split second and then it will scroll. It also does it on web pages. I also play the drag racing game and I experience some lag in that game as well. Has anybody had problems like this?

The only time I experience any type of lag with this phone is occasionally on the home screen and that's probably due to having a ton of widgets on all 5 of my panels.

picky are we? lol
here is the thing brother..... you gotta keep this in mind, when these devices are designed/programmed(but this has mostly to do with the programming aspect) the developers try to find a healthy balance between performance and battery efficiency. every now and then you may see it sputter ever so slightly, but it is intentionally designed that way. your other option is to have your GPU in overdrive every time you even breathe on your screen and suck your battery every time you send a text.
don't be so picky. you have a 400mHz GPU with multi-point rendering capability.... it's not the hardware brother....
Sense 4.0 lags sometimes, it sucks but I don't think we can totally eliminate it. I notice it on different occasions, usually when I wake the phone up or open the app drawer.

you are basing "better" on blips in the user interface? lol come on maannn
and for the record... every nexus i have picked up was laggy as balls.... maybe that has something to do with the fact that it has the same GPU in it as the OG nexus
just sayin
i mean if it is TERRIBLY BAD then i would say it is the rom you are on, some misc tweak, maybe your 2d forced rendering isn't checked under the settings, who knows.... but i have had mine for a week now and have maybe seen it sputter like once. and i use it pretty heavily.
The EVO is better for some coming off different phones with completely different hardware. The evo 4g vs LTE is a no brainer. LTE wins. The nexus on the otherhand has similar specs as the EVO. (Dual core, ics, screen resolution?) Anyways you get the point. Get a phone based on personal preference. Not because its "the next big thing" the nexus is a great phone for some. Definetly not for me. Hence the reason why I got the LTE rather than the ole so stunning S3 or nexus..
hardware is beyond than extraordinary. Root the beast and unleash its full potential (when the proper Roms are fully functional). Or wait out official HTC updates.. my 2 cents

Maybe you're just having a buyer's remorse cause you didn't go with the GS3 and convincing yourself the Evo is not good enough.
Two top phones right now for sprint is Evo LTE and GS3, everything else falls short.
The only stuttering or lag I get is sometimes on my lockscreen. I am using the weather lockscreen and the weather will stutter it's way in instead of being fluid. I think it is just the phone coming out of sleep.

Lol thanks for all the feedback guys and for not completely criticizing me. I never wanted the S3 to begin with. I’ve actually noticed this as well and I agree that it’s a little annoying. When scrolling in pretty much any app, my finger will move about 0.2” before the screen reacts. Once it realizes that my finger is on there, there is no problem tracking.
I downloaded Touch Test from the market and confirmed that this is not a hardware issue. In that app, the moment my finger touches the display, it begins tracking. The lock ring also moves immediately on the lock screen, so it must be something in certain apps.
I have noticed lag in the browser when scrolling when I have flash enabled. I noticed on my Galaxy S2 that when I would scroll down a web page with flash content, any flash content that is active continues to to be active while scrolling and it was VERY smooth. On the EVO LTE however, anything active flash content will become inactive. The lag I have experienced seems to be when the Evo takes a split second to "pause" any active flash before it begins scrolling. The more flash on a page, the more lag I experience. I've simply turned off my flash player. It's annoying to have to do that, but I have come to terms with it.

Yeah, if even that long. The funny thing is that the change is so simple (go find runandhides thread, he shows how he did it) that anyone that knows how to decompile/recompile an all can do it. Let alone HTC, it shouldn't have taken them this long.

No I must agree. You may be mistaken about what is broken with multitasking on our phones. The One X fix removes the black menu bar at bottom of screen in some apps & moves recent apps to a long press of the button. Our multitasking problem is Sense not storing the state of apps once we switch from one to another so that when we do switch or multitask back to original opened app it has to completely restart. This fix does nothing to help that and I don't see HTC releasing one anytime soon seeing as that is how they intended it to work, so from their pov it is working properly.

The discussion regarding multitasking is HTC's "memory optimization". That means the HOX boots with more ram available, not multitasking being what it should be - multitasking.
I really like this phone. I can deal with a moderate task killer. I don't use the phone like I do a computer. All I ask for is a level of multitasking where I can browse the web, change an album or two, send a message, and return to browsing the web - seamlessly. There is clearly enough ram, let us use it.

Unfortunately HTC's current next generation smart phone's have been a big flop. I'm sure this update will make the current user base happy, but it will definitely not attract new users. HTC has been to slow with its updates to fix current problems and unfortunately it took me to install CM10 to finally use multitasking the way it was meant to be. Htc better fix their problems quickly or they'll be the next Nokia.

I tend to listen to podcasts and use navigation a lot(I'm a driver) and im noticing more frequently since the update that sense will reload when backing out of Navigation. I also get it when backing out of memory intensive games too. The same games I use to play and the same navigation I've always used in ICS and not have this issue. Back in the day with Sense reloads you would see a "Loading" message and sense would come back. Now it's just a home screen with 0 widgets that eventually reappear.
What gives? I thought I'd be done with sense reloads by the 3rd product cycle. I know the whole manage your apps and use less home screens tips. The thing is I'm set up the same way I've always been set up, shouldn't have to change anything.

HTC can't win. People ***** that sense reloads so they implement the most aggressive anti multitasking "bug" to fix it.
Now that they unbroke multitasking sense may reload more.
It works fine for me personally, but I un install, freeze, or refuse to run memory intensive things like face unlock, live wallpapers, and some stock HTC and Sprint junk
HTC can win.. Simply don't F### up and do dumb crap. If they want to continue with sense(which I enjoy) then make sure the device has proper resources.

Mind telling us how? Or do you just not use gapps at all that's the only way i can see a solution. But my contacts are on my Google account so I'm stuck unless i spend the time to manually change them all to phone storage.
