Our neos have a 1500 mah battery which is good enough for everyday use but not one of the best for gaming.
I dont think that changing the kernel will make a significant difference to your battery life (especially while gaming).
Best Solution: Connect your charger while playing games!!!

+1,i always playing games with charger connected.
Dude, chill. There's nothing you can do about it except plugging the charger while playing games like others said. After all, the phone has a LiPoly battery, not a Stark Industries Arc Reactor

hi,
i have SE x10i and i downloaded some apps in the market and my phone suddenly restarts... and i flash it on SE PC companion and its now ok
the problem is that when ever i charge the phone the battery heats up and then my phone also heats up and shuts down... i get the battery out for some few minutes to cool down and then it gets ok.. but because i want to charge the battery but still same problem..
what should i do??

Are you heavily using the phone (gaming, watching videos, streaming, surfing the net) while charging?
Install setcpu and use a temperature trigger of 50C (or what you want) to limit the cpu.
Mine is set for 768Mhz.
And if you are using it while its charging try not to cup the back of the phone, you trap the heat.
If it keeps shutdown when you charge, you should bring it to SE service. Maybe this is hardware problems.

i already did that sir..
i also update the rom to GB but still the problem is the same..
when the cp heats up its restart automatically..
@all
where can i DL such apps that can normalize the cpu's temperature..
i cant charge normally because as what i have said
it heats up and shutsdown thee phone..
Aw man that sucks, keep in mind your battery life will get worse if its heated too much.

yeah really really sucks.. i cant normally charge with my charger
coz when the temperature rises it will stop charging ang the phone restarts or automatically off...
thats why i need your opinions! please..
i dont think this is a hardware problem because
this is brand new... and i dont use it agressively...

Not all brand new devices are in perfect shape. There's always a factory defective one..
Try consulting your problem at any service center of S.E. or ask for a replacement. As you said its a brand new device it has warranty.

opinions and advice
whats the solution??
Hi Nucleus55,
Although i'm relatively new to xda, i'm also relatively "old" to h/w related problems, so here's is one piece of advise if you like.
As stated also from other member's previously "-- X10B --", if the phone's temp rises to a degree where it auto-reboots and stops charging, and if this occurs every single time, then you should probably replace it from your nearest SE shop. Especially if it is new and under warranty. As stated from "-- X10B --" there is always the possibility of a h/w error or in construction and/or design flaw in that specific model. You never know.
Personally, i got this "batterylife" widget (from market) which shows battery status and temp, and for me, when i charge my phone, it has never gone above 40 degrees Celsius while idle (charging only) and up to (MAX) 48 while under heavy stress during charging, like games, videos, etc.
I have never seen it gone to 50 degrees.
You could also do as previously stated by "kindred7", that is, install an application and set the max degree to 50 degrees, although i strongly recommend (this is always my personal opinion), when it comes to ALL electronics, to always keep them as cool as possible. If this is not possible, because you tend to stress it all the time either from games or videos, then you could find a better cooling solution, like maybe removing its cover while charging.
I have just tried it myself about a half an hour ago to see if there is any change in temp, and i have noticed that in my work space where the ambient temp is around 25 degrees, the phone while charging and uncovered, was stable at 38 degrees Celsius.
Also, if you a lot of functions ON like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, then it is obvious that the phone temp will rise to its max. If so, then try to disable any things you don't need, not only while charging but always.
That's all that i can think of right now
this has happened to me after i updated my x10i to 2.3.3 .. the battery life has just got worse and sometimes while heavy use the battery temp rises very much.
Any Solution will be helpful.

From the symptoms you've listed I'm pretty sure you need a new battery due to the heat exposure.
When you are charging your phone make sure you have your screen off. I know this sounds stupid but I found it stopped my phone from overheating while charging
my battery is heating aswell
i upgraded and did not use my phone for 5 hrs ish and it was just on my table and then i smell smoke frome my phone and it was like my battery was a bbq

yes i think this is the problem that i forgot.
i expose it to sunlight while we are drinking some beer with friends outside of our house . and
because i have some sms i grab my phone and damn it was so hot.
so i put my phone inside the house and after that it started to resart whenever the temp rises, or even i use a short period of time...

I have the same problem
maybe SE company should read all the negative feedbacks on there Phones...
and make some upgrades of this ****.
Do you guys also experience phones to generate heat when screen is kept on for like 30-40 min playing gta -3.... touchscreen of phone became hotter ... is that normal ?
Edit : played music for 50 min through speakers... And phone was hot.... My battery indicator also indicates temp. Normally it is 37 c and after 50 min of music through speakers it was like 43 c.... Does tht happen to u guys too or shud i tak it to service centre ?
RE Heating up of LWW
when i play gta3,nfs shift for about 30minutes the phone is heated and when i play
or hear music for about 1hr i feel the same heat at back of my phone
,
Playing 3d games usually heats phone
Guys can anyone do me this HUGE favour :
1) download this battery widget
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.thalion.mobile.battery
2) add widget to homescreen ( there is option of two ... Select big one...... ) .. Now widget added to homescreen displays temp. Also
3) please perform simmilar tasks such as playing music fr around 40 min through speakers.....
And then note the temp from widget.... How much did it rise ???

u could consider undevolt
Hmm i think undervolt are already done on the customized kernels not?
If not, someone would post some safe voltage to use on some clocks, it could be amazing.
Here when i play games my phone gets hot fast too, i think thats more one thing which increase the battery drain.
So hotter the battery goes, the faster your drain done.
When i play on some places which has a nice cold ambients, the battery drains more slow.
That's it!

maybe, but not optimize for all phone since all cpu is different and have unique characteristic even for the same model. we need to redo undevolt manually to find the best stable voltage for our phone.
and because all cpu is different, the voltage table that works with my phone doesnt mean it'll works with yours too
Well the title says it all, I was charging my phone and was playing prototype in the computer (unrelevant data ) but it was like 97% of battery, the screen its always on (since i plug it when it has 30%), and i say ok ok 3% more to go, and start to play again , later when i get a message of a friend, take the cellphone and the battery was at 84% so I think it reaches 100% and then (it was still obviusly plugged, and the screen never turns off) it starts to discharge so quickly... somebody are gettin this type of behavior too??? its like the fifth time that happen to me.... or at least i notice that....looks like its a random behavior
I have ICS 4.0.4 but when i have GB happen that too

You might be better off asking in here aswell considering that whole thread is about Xperia S battery life.
I have exactly the same problem pretty much all the time. Most of the time I can kind of understand it because I'm a really heavy user of my phone and will normally be playing music, while texting away, being on here and playing a game such as Modern Combat 3 all at the same time.
But even if I'm only using XDA for example, the battery will still start going down while I'm charging. It'll go from full to approx 80% and stay around that mark.
This is one of the many reasons I'm really tempted to get rid of this phone and get the SGS2 instead #_-

, well I try to search if someone say already something about that, but in a quick view dont found anything , as I understand you were playing and doing other stuff while you were charging the phone, well that happens to me too, it starts to discharge... even if its plugged, specially with games like "Shadowgun" (a very good game BTW ), doing other stuff I dont have this problem, the only thing its that the charge only take more time...
I think that if you only use XDA app dont happen that, only the charge will be too slow... anyway there is a problem there... but the thing its that im not doing anything and it takes charge to 100% and then starts to discharge doing nothing! did that happen to you?
My sister have a Galaxy SII, its pretty good too, the only thing is that the UI of Samsung its so ugly , but the good thing is that there are more dev's and more ROM's to change in the SII that in XPS

Yeah even if I'm just using XDA it takes a lot longer to charge than it should do and I know for a fact there's not a problem with my charger because it charges my brother's S2 brilliantly.
And yes mine has the same problem with draining when doing nothing. Battery drain while idle has always been a hot talking point since this phone was released really and it doesn't seem to have gotten too much better than it was to start with.
Not gonna lie though, if I knew about this phones problems when I got it, I would've probably gone for the S2 instead.

why on earth u keep the screen on while charging? it's the biggest drainer. try using battery monitor widget to see the current that coming or going to ur phone.
when the screen on and data on (3G only) my SXS discharge at 250-760 mA if u have 0.75 A charger or 0.85 A charger it's over the discharging current, so it'll discharge. and dont forget that once the phone get above 90% it'll lower it's current input. so with the screen on and ur phone's above 90% u'll discharge faster.
when u in 84% u'll get the current again only when u re-plugged the charger.
IMO, u better turn the screen off, data off while charging. i use EP850 charger (rate 1.5A), with data off i got charging current bout 1200 mA and got lower to 500 mA when hit 90% (it only take bout 1 hour from below 10% battery, did SGS2 can do this ). i rarely charge to 100%.

sorry but i don`t wanna make new thread, i have new problem i bought today new battery inserted it, it was discharged, charged it to 100%, i was playing minecraft with friends and when i got 23-27% of battery it suddenly goes to 1% and phone turns off when i connect phone to charger it starts charging at 1% and at 78-80% suddenly goes to 100% and "here we go again" :/ some one have any sollution of this? on original battery this problem doesnt appear at all but it`s too weak, new battery is Li-Poly Tellme battery with 1350mAh works great but this drop down is horrible. i tried to wipe battery stats but it doesn`t appear in CWM. and taking out battery fot 5 mins when charged to 100% dont work too.
I have recently bought the Sony Xperia Z2 and like everyone else, I take extra care of my phone when its new. One thing I would like to preserve is the battery and keep it as good as it is till my next upgrade.
My question is, is it bad to use a phone while its charging? Would this have any negative affect on the battery or is it perfectly fine to do so?
I don't see very light usage of it while charging causing any issues, if you are playing a game or doing something more demanding then it might possibly cause issues with battery reporting. I just charge mine at night while sleeping.
It's better not to do it but in our age it won't be a problem if u ask me.

Only if...
Give it concern if u r keeping the phone for more than a year, if not then enjoy without complaining!
To preserve your battery as long as possible, no. Also, top up the charge as often as possible, not allowing it to drop below around 40% and don't charge it higher than 70%.
Of course this is a bit unrealistic and will likely lower your enjoyment of the device. But I do recommend not fully charging your phone (only go as high as 90% at most) as the last part of a charge strains the battery a lot and you don't lose much capacity (especially with this phone). Like someone else said, too, light usage while charging won't do much damage.
For more information read this: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
you can use if while it's on charge but don't play high graphics games or video calling ( skype )
light usage such as chatting on facebook is fine, as long its not draining the battery it is fine else if you fine the battery abnormal, you can calibrate it again, check this link for more info : http://www.androidauthority.com/how...attery-and-achieve-longer-battery-life-43307/

Yes.
The Z2 emits more heat while charging. The heat is prejudicial to the battery even more the motherboard and other part, which slows in taking bad effect.
If you use it while charging, the battery will more short-lived than others.
