Just reveiced my new unlocked sk17i, the time and date are lost during that very short time the battery has to be removed, this will be annoying when swapping the SIM which I do when traveling, my trusty x10 does not behave like this and I've never seen this in any smartphone I've had before, can anyone confirm this before I send it back ?
Thanks in advance
If you check automatic date and time in Settings, connecting to wireless networks should immediately adjust date and time. Also, you can try using ClockSync to synchronize your phone.
Thanks, unfortunetly that does not work and never has worked on my old x10 either with Orange UK at least.
Then ClockSync is the way
Thanks, but I need to know if my new mobile is broken or if is normal this smart phone is not smart enough to keep the clock runing for few seconds.

My lww looses also actually date and time when I pull out the battery. It doesn't matter how long the battery is out if the phone. So I think normal reaction from phone.

Thanks everyone, seem like the is a build in unwanted feature, found other examples like here (I cannot paste urls in here directly):

actually every phone has a small battery solder at the motherboard...this small battery is for keeping your time running at 24/7 even if you pull the main battery from your phone....
this small battery only lasted for a years...once the battery is dead, you have to reset the time again after you have remove the main battery...

Hi, when I use the internet on my X10, for some reason the signal will just vanish and then says ''NO SERVICE'' when I drop down the bar at the top of the screen.
Then it goes back to full signal agen but it also happens when I'm not using the phone as well (just looking at some photo's, listen to some music), so is there anything that I can do? cause I don't want to send it off for repair when the dev's are making GREAT PROGRESS.
Thanks in advance

might be the firmware if its the 026 one then is a "normal" prob
for the sim i usually take it out and then insert it

A coworker of mine had such a problem.. her nokia would do that from time to a time.. cleaning the sim card surface and in her case some clear tape on the back of the sim made it slighty thicker and gave it better contact.
good luck

I don't use WIFI, I use 3G :-( and the signal is dropping out most of the time.
HAHA I just love the OP's nick!!
Edit: Back on topic, I've had the same problem as well, ever since I debranded to the 026 firmware. I'm just guessing its a firmware issue. Waiting for the 2.1 update to resolve it.

Nah i don't use JIT either. It is great for Quadrant, but not much else. The phone started to stutter (Ninjump and Drop game suffers from it). Restart happened only when the CPU load stays on 100% and very much activities on the background, so yeah it's unstable.
About the battery, maybe you need to try to:
1. Delete data/system/batterystats.bin
2. Fully charge the phone (recommended to do it while phone turned off)
3. Drain the battery again to the last charge available.
So hopefully it will be better next time. O yeah, if you're on .06 version, you can go to User Support in the Drawer, there is Battery Optimizer function inside there.

I have the same experience too with the supplied charger from the box. I don't know how to rectify this, but after i updated my phone to .06 i haven't experienced the issue so often (ocassionally still happened but can be operated easier than before) while charging.
Well maybe you can follow vlissine advice. but since i have not experienced it lately, i'm okay with it..

Well like i said, as for now, it does not matter me too much. I don't feel it often. Almost none exactly with my latest firmware.. So then i won't waste my time for that Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
Ok so I've had the Nokia Lumia for 2 weeks now and I've just had a text from my network saying that I have almost used all of my 500mb data allowance already, stunned I rang Talkmobile up to find out that the phone has been using 3mb of data every second nearly!
I've now turned off the mobile internet in the settings to prevent a huge bill!
I don't understand this as its my work phone, so only use if for incoming emails really, and I'm always connected via WIFI at work and at home, so it seems to me that when the phone locks the WIFI automatically switches off and then runs on mobile data.
There are no settings to rectify this either.
Please check your allowances as this has used 487mb in 12 days!!!!!!
P.S After looking online it appears that either there is a bug or it's just the phone, but it disconnects the Wifi to save battery, meaning that it will run off mobile data occurring huge data consumption!!
Any one else noticed this, as some of my colleagues have this phone and the are on Orange and haven't noticed massive allowances.
It's a known problem...There isn't priority when wifi is on...So 3g collection is on top at the same time..

Ok well I hope this is fixed in the patch that's due out next month!

I don't think it's going to be fixed with the patch you think of as this is system specific issue. All wp7 devices work this way. It's down to microsoft not Nokia

Your welcome !
Sorry for typo !!!
I never use Wifi and have a 1GB dataplan... I'm updating my apps, listen to mp3 streams, 3 email accounts, sometimes watching youtube videos, surfing the web, using live tiles... in short words i have a heavy data usage...
But never used more than 600-700Mb in 30 days...
There was/is a bug with specific mail accounts (think it was yahoo), I'm not sure if it is fixed... But 500Mb in 12 days seems to high to me...
BTW i like the fact that it's disconnects WiFi when locking the screen, else it would eat up my batteries in 4 hours...
Maybe MS should provide a option for active WiFi under the lock screen... but I
personally wouldn't use it...

I think having an option would be better than not as my Samsung GS2 has it and I have the Wifi on never sleep, but I've not noticed it drain my battery.

I own Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC Desire HD also.
THis is getting annoying..
I use a lot an app called whatsapp and i discovered that when i put the lockscreen the wifi go in standby too (also if the is no 3g where i live) and i dont recive any notification from whatsapp.
Once i reeneter the phone then i get all messages also back from 2 hours.
I cannot stay there every 5 minutes to check if a message arrives and with all my preovious android phone this wasnt a problem cause wifi was never off with lockscreen so i could still be in the world.
If this is a big issue i think this wp wont live much in my hands. 2 days i liked a lot but cant live with this ms decision..sort of nonsense, at least they should have putted an option where WE decide.
Sad sad.

It appears the wifi remains connected when the power adaptor is plugged in and the phone is charging. Does anyone know whether it’s possible to trick the phone into thinking the power adaptor is still plugged in?

I found out that WiFi stays connected if you disable "data connection"...
I disabled data connection to save battery over night but had wifi enabled (with knowing it would disable automatically as soon as the phone locks) - but in the morging i had 6 new emails and an emtpy battery so wifi must have been on all night...

Why would it break your phone?
Is normal that your phones lifetime would be shorter than if you would just let it a drawer and not use it...
but you will not be using the same phone in 10 years...

using proximity sensors to lock/unlock the phone 10 times per minute will not kill my sensors or any other hardware component ? hope that because i don't want lose my phone,it costs ~300eur
up please!!
Sensors are pretty much always "on" and receiving/transmitting dara(if I'm not mistaken). Then it's up to the app to do something with that data.

Lesicnik1 is right: it was to keep turned on and searching for information all time, even if there is nothing in front of it (for the proximity one)
I doesnt turn on when you put wave in front of it, it does a action.
just like your nervous system, when you get your hand (senso) burned, and the the information get to you brain (phone internals/chip) and it sends the action to take the hands from the fire (turn screen on)....
even when you are not feeling anything on your hand the body keeps the communication with your brain so that it knows when something hapens...
long story short, it will not affect the battery or device life for using it...
hope it helps:good:
many thanks to all your answers
The most risky part is probably a battery, since it is not very good for a phone to be constantly on a charger. But we have not killed any phone in 2-3 years, and most people change their phone in 3 years anyway.
H guys. I have Xperia Go. I do nothing, but battery will last maybe 2 days, when my other devices with more power working much longer and I use them time to time. Maybe just bring my phone to Sony service? I have latest, original ICS update.

I see numbers in Sony site, GSMArena.com and everywhere else - stand-by about 450h on 3G (I use 2G), so it's 18 days. Music play up to 45h. Give me four days stand-by and I will be happy. In any case, I just did full factory reset with Sony Update Service, turn off my phone, charged to 100% according Sony integrated ****, turn in on. After about 4-5 hours battery is 94%. If battery will be on 02-22 evening about 5-10%, I will just send phone to Sony center, because I got failure, not a small smartphone for sport. It will be good two lessons in one year - do not buy LG or Sony. My every HTC and Samsung devices are working very good.

You are joking right? Of course, smartphone won't be forever alive(especially not 18 days, lol). It's a small computer, powerful processor, a lot of RAM, screen, internet. Never believe for sites. But if I use this piece of **** (I still suspect failure), I will get 4-5 hours for music and GPS We will see what will happen after factory reset, but as I said, my Optimus 4X HD working longer than Sony Xperia Go, although Go is on the table untouched, 4X HD always in the pocket with email, calls, GPS and SMSs. Oddly to me.

You're kidding right? Did nothing?
Just the phone trying to get full network signal will spend the most amount of battery, plus what have you turned on also?
3G? Data traffic? Wireless? Bluetooth?
The companies say that x phone will last y hours in standby if it has optimal network signal (wich happens 1% of the time)
I have a SXU and use it very lightly and the battery lasts 1-2 days and it has no problem, it's normal!
