Hi, I've been using a number of ics roms since it was released and am currently on wanam v 12. I was wondering if anyone else has had a very slow response from the stock camera since moving to ics, never had any problems with gingerbread. The camera takes a picture normally but takes several seconds to finally respond and able to take another picture. Any advice?

Probably not the advice you're looking for, but try miui rom, specifically cmiui. The camera is really nippy on that one.
It may be a CM9 camera apk that's installed in cmiui. You could see if you could track down the apk on its own if you don't want to flash another rom.
And I know what you mean, every ics rom has given me bad lag with taking pics.

The GS2 doesn't have zero-shutter lag, but I am not experiencing a few seconds worth of lag as you are.
Try clearing data in App Info, which will hopefully fix your issue.
Try alternative cameras on the Play Store, namely Camera ICS.
Report back and tell me if that fixes anything.
Hey thanks for the advice! I cleared data on the app and is way faster now.

Can anyone modify the ics apk to work on any of our leaks? Some dev said the reason it freezes is because the EGL's get too high or something... Please don't flame, just asking

Instagram works fine for me on ICS also, but the problem lies in uploading a picture and applying a filter. It locks up the phone and causes a reboot.

Nope. Once you get to the filters section it locks up.

Once again, browsing on Instagram works perfectly fine. Try posting a picture. Even DesignGears said that the new leak doesn't fix the freezing problem so I doubt you're right.
Well just browsing is no good, i browse, comment, and like from the PC program. Easier viewing in a grid instead of one by one phone scroll up
I only use my phone to upload pics, since that's not possible from a PC yet
Right so can anyone mod the app to work with out freezing the phone?

Not working for me either but I can easily overlook that one of very few issues with ics. Instagram is overrated anyway. I certainly wouldn't let it hold me back from the latest and greatest OS on the planet.

They just released an update and the filters work fine now.
They addressed it in the "What's new" section too
Edit:
still has some issues.
Posting from gallery results in a black picture. It seems a little laggy, but at least it hasn't crashed on me yet.

1+ posting from the gallery results in you uploading a black pic, haven't taken a pic with the instagram camera yet, but according to your screenshot that works fine....
hopefully another minor update will solve the remaining issues.
I downloaded the new update and tried to upload a picture to see if it works but it rebooted my phone

Yes, it seems to work whenever it wants. I still didn't get a crash yet, but I do get some flickering and lag.
Iphony, yes, atleast it seems to be going in the right direction.
I flashed a couple different versions of the high res camera app w/o trying the one that came with the latest venom Rom (no idea why, I just did). What version should I be using? Also, got a link to a dl? I've been searching in all areas of the Rezound forum here and I'm giving up, so I'm finally gonna just ask for some help. The camera app just force closes every time I open it. I've cleared the cache and davlik, fixed permissions, etc.. I've done everything I can think of or what others have suggested and still have no luck. Thanks in advance.

i noticed that the camera would force close on me as well on ViperRom... but only when i went to the app through the lockscreen. so I'd recommend not accessing thee app through the lockscreen.
You just turn off face recognition. Worked for me

I can't get intothe camera from anywhere. It force closes immediatly so I can't turn off face recognition.

I had the same issue but it didn't last long, soon after I got a system update notification so I updated and tested the camera right after and until today it still works like a charm.
PS: If you want to try to turn off face recognition like others say, switch to the front camera right away and it won't close on you

I'll keep an eye out for an update. I wish I could try to press anything to try to get it working, but it force closes immediatly as its starts. It shows the camera and everything, but the picture is squished. I've tried to press all the buttons as the camera opens and I'm still not having any luck. Thankfully I have Vignette.

So I got it working. I just reflashed the rom. Can any of you tell me if this roms camera is as good as the hd camera? I can't really compare cause I haven't been able to use it.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I don't know about the camera mod you mentioned, but I do know that the picture quality I was seeing on ViperRez was poor compared to what I see on NeoMax. I'm guessing its because ViperRez is a port from another phone and neomax is based on rezound software, kernel, etc.

I think that Joe Brady's camera app is better than the one included , unfortunately I can't get it to work on this rom
So really no working hd camera zip for us on Venom to flash currently?
I like the Venom camera, I think it's the one from the Htc One. I like the camera speed over the HD camera. Seems like most of my pics have to be taken fast and this camera will click off photos as fast as you push the button.
rezound camera
Venom is so far one of the best ROMs out there for ICS for the rezound in my opinion.
I noticed the camera is not 100% stable in my case. What I mean by that is that I can take pictures but after 2 or 3 consecutive pictures the screen freezes for about 5 seconds and then it closes the camera app again. It won't give me the force close error, it will just take me back to the main home screen.
You can open it again and it will work temporary just fine for few pictures and it will happen again.
The ROM was installed several times still the same problem. Everything else works fine.
I´m using the CM10 from epinter and it really is a nice ROM but this issue is killing my patience.
The camera has an enormous LAG to take photos. Anybody else have this issue? Is there anything I can do to resolve it?
Have you tried using a different camera app (i.e. FxCamera) to see if the same problem exists? That will at least cutout a few variables.
I had that issue in earlier versions of the ROM, but it got better over time. I think it's related to missing HWA. Try using camera 360, that's what I used.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Try Re-flashing the latest gapps from epinter's website. It worked for me.

It´s better... but...
Thank you all...
I used all suggestions you guys made and also installed the 1.3 Ghz overclock Kernel and the camera is better now but, when I try to use the Lapse It app the camera still LAG...
I´ve tried the CM9 MROM from mmontuori and the camera is very nice with it, but there are many bugs and the battery draim does not allows me to keep using it.
If you guys knows any other CM9/CM10 ROM with no camera LAG, please tell me.
Bests Regards!
Hey guys,
Just replaced my corosed htc one x with a brand new i9300.
The first thing I did was installing cwm and cm 10.1 latest nightly.
I have noticed that there is a known camera app bug with touch to focus option and flash(it just crashes and takes a grey pic)
Is anybody working on this?
Can anyone reccomend a good alternative camera app?
Thanks!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Take pictures without using touch to focus. When you accidentally do touch the screen, close the app and reopen it. Or use a stock rom. Also concider to let the S3 become your last Samsung phone like a lot of us do and get a Nexus phone next time.
Oh and I read that you can get the Huawei camera app on your phone and that one is supposed to work perfectly, but I didn't test it myself.
Hey,
Thanks for the advice, I'll try it.
So nobody is trying to fix the bug?

Instead of creating a new thread, search for the issue on the thread of the ROM that you're using - which is CM10.1. You'll find all answers and workarounds there, and it'll take you less than 15 minutes to go through all the relevant posts, as opposed to an unknown number of days and unreliable replies here.

Hello XDA. This ROM (rootbox 3.9.1) is supposed to be stable, but when I turn on flash or automatic flash and I touch to focus then shoot, the camera app lags and force closes (and doesn't take the picture). This is annoying in so many ways, and makes it virtually impossible for me to take pictures in low light. Please help me address this issue for it is killing me and I don't feel like downloading a whole new ROM, flashing it and reorganizing all my settings all over again just to fix this issue. I also had this issue with CM10.1 (but that was normal, cause it is a nightly).
Anybody else have this issue? And possibly a fix?
Thanks in advance.
Also: inb4 "search the official root box thread". I did, and nobody seems to have this issue.

As far as I know this issue was fixed a couple of days ago in the CM Nightlies so maybe the Vanilla Rootbox base hasn't been updated yet or you aren't using their latest update.

Didn't work. what version of this aosp camera are you using? And with what ROM? I got the latest version. And it still crashes.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Actually I've found a way to bypass this problem. If I turn on the volume key to take pictures function, autofocus with flash on and take the picture with the volume key, it doesn't crash. I guess I'll just have to live with it like this for now, oh well.
OK now how do I close this thread? Or there's no such thing? Can any mod or janitor or whatever help me out here? I'm new here
