I´m using the CM10 from epinter and it really is a nice ROM but this issue is killing my patience.
The camera has an enormous LAG to take photos. Anybody else have this issue? Is there anything I can do to resolve it?
Have you tried using a different camera app (i.e. FxCamera) to see if the same problem exists? That will at least cutout a few variables.
I had that issue in earlier versions of the ROM, but it got better over time. I think it's related to missing HWA. Try using camera 360, that's what I used.

Try Re-flashing the latest gapps from epinter's website. It worked for me.

It´s better... but...
Thank you all...
I used all suggestions you guys made and also installed the 1.3 Ghz overclock Kernel and the camera is better now but, when I try to use the Lapse It app the camera still LAG...
I´ve tried the CM9 MROM from mmontuori and the camera is very nice with it, but there are many bugs and the battery draim does not allows me to keep using it.
If you guys knows any other CM9/CM10 ROM with no camera LAG, please tell me.
Bests Regards!

I have the Multiollaboration CM9 ROM and really like it, but i couldn't get past a certain bug. The browser was unreliable at best, it would force close almost every time i used it. When i switch it to landscape it would freeze on me, and dont i could forget about zooming. I am wondering if anyone can confirm having the same/similar issues as me, or is there a browser i can use that will work fine?
All browsers are like that as of right now, as for me. Stock browser works well but opera isn't working for me. Landscape is a known issue in browser apps though. You could wipe and reinstall if worst comes to worst

Or install 2d fixerv2.zip on jokersax thread if you haven't done so

I am running jokers latest with 2d fix on faux 1.45 kernel. browser does crash when switching to landscape. but that is it. hardly never when not switching. maybe wiping and clean install is needed.
XScope is working fine for me on Jokersax CM9 with Faux 1.0GHz 025 kernel. No problems with freezing or FC in landscape.

I am using Jokers 0.1.0 2d RCO from the cm9 multicolaboration thread
Known issue...obviously you did no reading when you decided to flash this.
for now you should stay with cm 7 if the camera is important to you. Taking pics works but the cam is still kind of buggy. camcorder does not work at all

Sorry I haven't check back in a while. I don't know what the other two people are talking about, the cameras (front ans back) having been working without any fcs for me for a while now. You can download the latest Jokersax builds along with other fixes, kernels, and GApps at his website, here: http://www.jokersax.com/developer-pages/jokersax/cyanogenmod-9-atrix/
I personally didn't even need to flash the fixes, or haven't flashed any in a while. Just the beta 0.3.0 and Gapps v10. Let me know if that works.

turl v8 build, defo wonky camera.
Open camera, its laggy but at least it works.... take pic, exit immediately, do not preview, do not try anything fancy lol once it FCs takes a reboot to fix, also breaks 3rd party cameras.
I can live with that in return for ICS goodness

Don't start up the stock camera app, use 3rd party fist like I described. No problems
Just switched from turl v8 to jokersax beta 0.3.0, stock camera works now
camera360 is still laggy on mine.
jokersax build is not an option, I have mad battery drain issues with it (faux kernel most likely culprit since have had similar issues with gingerbread faux kernels before)
Hi, I've been using a number of ics roms since it was released and am currently on wanam v 12. I was wondering if anyone else has had a very slow response from the stock camera since moving to ics, never had any problems with gingerbread. The camera takes a picture normally but takes several seconds to finally respond and able to take another picture. Any advice?

Probably not the advice you're looking for, but try miui rom, specifically cmiui. The camera is really nippy on that one.
It may be a CM9 camera apk that's installed in cmiui. You could see if you could track down the apk on its own if you don't want to flash another rom.
And I know what you mean, every ics rom has given me bad lag with taking pics.

The GS2 doesn't have zero-shutter lag, but I am not experiencing a few seconds worth of lag as you are.
Try clearing data in App Info, which will hopefully fix your issue.
Try alternative cameras on the Play Store, namely Camera ICS.
Report back and tell me if that fixes anything.
Hey thanks for the advice! I cleared data on the app and is way faster now.

Hello everyone,
I have just installed the Camera 4.2 APK (in zip via the recovery) but I cannot use it ...
If I launch the stock version of the camera I have no problem to take a picture (except somtimes with the flash as this often result to a greeny picture.)
BUT
with the amazing 4.2 Camera it is simply impossible to take a picture as the screen is 'White'. The buttons (function button) are accessible (but it is not possible to take a picture even if i hear the confirmation sound)...
Anyone has an idea on how to solve this ? or maybe am i using the wrong 4.2 camera ?
Please note that the gallery associated to that 4.2 Camera is also not working ... I have to use the stock one ...
Thank you in advance for your help;
Kind regards,
Scarymover
Sorry for my poor english
I have same prob and so do others. We just may not be able to use it. Camcorder doesn't work either. That's why I came back to gb though I love Epinters rom. Only app that's somewhat okay for video is videocam illusion.

Epinter doesn't have the Motorola drivers. I doubt there is going to be a fix for that.
Atrix seems to be bad from bad..... I don't want to change my phone I have bought 3 months ago... But as from now I'm really frustrated by this motofail device! Pffffff

Hello XDA. This ROM (rootbox 3.9.1) is supposed to be stable, but when I turn on flash or automatic flash and I touch to focus then shoot, the camera app lags and force closes (and doesn't take the picture). This is annoying in so many ways, and makes it virtually impossible for me to take pictures in low light. Please help me address this issue for it is killing me and I don't feel like downloading a whole new ROM, flashing it and reorganizing all my settings all over again just to fix this issue. I also had this issue with CM10.1 (but that was normal, cause it is a nightly).
Anybody else have this issue? And possibly a fix?
Thanks in advance.
Also: inb4 "search the official root box thread". I did, and nobody seems to have this issue.

As far as I know this issue was fixed a couple of days ago in the CM Nightlies so maybe the Vanilla Rootbox base hasn't been updated yet or you aren't using their latest update.

Didn't work. what version of this aosp camera are you using? And with what ROM? I got the latest version. And it still crashes.

Actually I've found a way to bypass this problem. If I turn on the volume key to take pictures function, autofocus with flash on and take the picture with the volume key, it doesn't crash. I guess I'll just have to live with it like this for now, oh well.
OK now how do I close this thread? Or there's no such thing? Can any mod or janitor or whatever help me out here? I'm new here
