I don't think you can can you? But I wouldn't worry, it'll come in time. I have a lot of faith, especially with how fast everything else is happening. The phone has only been out 2 weeks today and we have perm-root and recovery both fully working. Now just to get some ROMs going and hopefully full dual-core support.
You should be able to do it through recovery in the form of an update.zip file.

Can you please be kind enough to test this for me... Will the entire Rom flash if its renamed to update.zip including the kernel...?

That depends on the rom that's being flashed. Make a custom kernel in the form of a boot.img and I'll try to test it by recovery.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
With the htc unlocked method you might have to flash kernels by booting recovery from fastboot because it has the proper permissions

The kernels I have used have also included system material as well as the boot.img - will that limit what can be done?

So the kernels would have to be a separate zip from the Rom?

Not necessarily. Many developers include a custom kernel with their roms.
I wanna know if we have a kernel that works with all roms, miui cm7 or stock ??

If you find way how to flash kernel via flashable.zip...then you don't need PC anymore

Boot.img can be flashed from recovery, certainly is done for other phones checkout the Motorola defy forum. Think that can for Neo needs updating first though.

If I'm right...then Neo don't have recovery partitsion...because we can't flash kernel directly.

Boot.img is three filesets in defy boot dev-tree and recovery.
is there a link with partition info for Neo. Only had the phone three days, need to do more research

1. You can't have flashable zip for kernels with integrated recovery, for obvious reasons.
2. A universal kernel stock+MIUI+CM7 is possible, check SGS II. I don't know how this has been done (atm) through.

if developing kernels was easy for noobs like me, I even try something when my pc is ready. But im happy that kernel can be made

sorry testpoint?
Well if we would have test point and if we would have bootloader patch, then users that cant boot to bootloader could flash custom kernel and not like in 2011 xperia where you could flash kernel only in fastboot.

So its useful for individuals whose device's bootloader cant be unlocked??
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
Yep,they are making money on that because bootloader is easy to patch, but this time phone network unlock is not needed!!! Because we can flash kernels using DD command or using recovery mode.

I first made a backup of my DRM keys, so i can go back to a locked bootloader if I want. But that's only possible if you're already rooted. You can try Bin4ry's method, but if that doesn't work you should skip this step. Then you can backup your TA partition.
Then you can unlock you're bootloader. Sony's own instructions (search for "Sony unlock bootloader") are very good.
Tnx mate

See that? LT22i is XP!
Nevermind, hadn't seen your link before :silly:
Anyway, bootloader unlock tool won't be device specific I think so if that tool supports unlocking bootloader it'll be for all 2012 Xperia atleast, and anyways, all Xperias supporting unlock have the same bootloader unlock method

Nothing happened, it download and flashed, I granted adb su permission but could not enter CWM after boot.
I think to install through this file is easier than the above method...
Connect ur device
just extract this file and open install.bat and after sumtym cmd will report Profit!! click any button to exit and cwm is flashed....
