Voice commands for apps - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i tried the apps responding to voice commands, all of them work fine (alarm, camera, music) except for incoming calls. No matter how much i say "answer" or "reject" it wont do anything.
Is anyone else facing the same problem. If this topic is already opened kindly direct me to it. I might have missed it.
Thanx

It's working on my end, is "incoming call" checked on your setting?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Yes it is. And its nt just my s3. My brother's and father's s3 is also having the same problem. Guess i have to take it to the repair centre.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

don't know how to answer using voice commands.. seems is not working

Finally, someone other than me is having the same issue (not that its a good thing hehe).
Where do u live braescuteo? I mean country...maybe its an issue for middle east s3
Edit: one of my co-worker also tried. He can reject calls but cannot answer them.

I'm from Romania.
I think is software related but don't know exactly what's the difference between our phone settings and someone who can use voice commands to answer.

I believe the only setting is to turn on the option of answering calls using voice command. Because i contacted samsung twice. First time they told me to make sure my "incoming calls" option is checked in the setting. When i told them it is thn they just told me to take it to the service center.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

is there someone else who wants to test the voice commands at answering phone?

190 views and only hand full of people having this issue. Did you try taking your phone to the local service center?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

for me is not so easy to take it to the local service
samsung service is 500km away and anyway, the phone is working great
only the problem with voice command i want to solve but i think that a software update will do it so I'm waiting

Wow tht is far. Yeah i know the phone is indeed running gd. I know its somrthing small but i want to have it fixed

I just started trying to use my voice cmd's to control the phone. I am experiencing the same thing. For pictures it works great, for answering or regecting calls it doesnt work at all no matter how much i yell at it, and it is not changing the song for music play either. It almost seems as if the noise from the speaker is causing an issue.....
My phone is working fine otherwise so I find it hard to think that it is something related to the phone.....

No voice command function
same problem here... in fact mine is worst, after flashing with custom JB stock based ROM, no voice command options at all!! searching all over the forum for solution...

hi all... can anyone tell me what dependancies are need to get voice cmd app enabled for s2 i.e... libs or modified framework files?
any DEV'S out there that will know can they share whats required? s-voice works fine but want to also have voice camera cmd in app, music voice cmd in app E.T.C E.T.C
THANKS

[App] IVONA Speech Engine

Just an FYI to anyone that has thought about using SVOX but didn't want to pay for the voices. Or, if you use navigation/voice readout on your phone but don't like the standard Android voice.
IVONA speech engine is similar to SVOX but having used both, I think IVONA sounds better. Currently it is in beta and it can be had free from Google Play and the voices are also free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivona.tts&hl=en
The beta seems to work very well. Only bad thing is when downloading the voices it can take around 10min even on WiFi (guessing their server connections are not the greatest).
Not sure how long the beta will last so check it out while you can.
Using ivona on rooted stock causes my ringer to not work so have someone call you to make sure thats not happening to you.

My ringer seems to be working. I'm using the voice readout/ringer option for my calls and running rooted/unlocked stock. One thing that bothers me is when reading out a phone number that is not named in my contacts it reads it like a regular number (using the stock selection in settings). However, I set that to ring only and downloaded talking caller id from Play and it works fine that way.
Yea, I think my issue started when I switched from kendra to amy. The voices are awesome, just something to be careful about if a missed call becomes the end of the world.

I had this problem too. I noticed that I lost my ringer when I selected "always use my setting". I turned off that setting and got my ringer back.

I found after having this issue any time I selected a British voice on any text to speech engine it happened. sucks because they sound way better.

I unlocked my phone this weekend and am now running HomeBase Photon without blur. I installed ivona voice and have not had an issue with my ringtone. I am wondering if the issue has anything to do with motoblur.

S Voice not working, won't always speak ???

S voice doesn't always want to talk, and yes Voice Prompt is turned on.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Same with driving mode text to speech, wont always talk. I've installed the voice synthesis software, what is wrong?
Anyone else having this issue?

Same behavior here.
I call it the Vlingo Disaster. This S-Voice bs was just as buggy on Epic Touch (sgs2 for Sprint). It's just a buggy piece of crapware.

There was a fix for GB roms for Epic Touch - replace the vlingo.apk (or something like that, don't remember exact name) with a google voice dialer app (name the same as the one being replaced). I wonder if it still works...
Try reading the OP of this thread, see if changing those settings helps.

@nabbed, how would changing the name of an app before install (which would fail on a lot of apps) help, when the app is installed, svoice will not use that just because it was named what the original app file was named, dosnt work that way.

If you thought I was talking out of my ass, learn to trust a scientist (me).
EDIT: btw, forgot to mention . That method was functional. I personally used it.

Sorry, I forgot to add a link, please look again, and read that OP in that thread I linked to.... But like I said, just because you change the name of an app, dosnt mean its called upon by svoice. Now if you unistall vlingo it will use what ever you have installed, no matter what the name of the app is....... Now onto why other apps won't work when the name is changed, well the problem there would be the checks made by the installer to see if anything was messed with, verification checks. That's not true on most google apps, but paid apps, well you may have an issue if you change the name. Just giving some clarification is all.

I don't know what you are talking about. Sorry, you make little sense, if any at all..
I'm confused at both people above
Any other suggestions?....
Again, S Voice works, as in it listens to me and searches for what I ask, but about 90 percent of the time she fails to talk back to me.
For example I'll say set alarm, maybe one in 10 times she will respond spoken, the other 9 times she stays quiet. The phone is not on mute, voice prompt is turned on.
Anyone else having this problem?

The link was for an Epic 4G Touch, you're saying it will fix the voice issue on a Galaxy S3?
Yes, because what thats doing is changing your tts settings, these are universal, and not phone specific.

Issues with Google voice

Hello, it seems that I've run into an issue that has got me stumped. I'm running flapjaxxs IMM76D build 5 rom and cannot get Google voice to become my voicemail provider. Every darn time I try I get an error about a forwarding issue. Here's a screen shot
I've tried reinstalling clearing caches to no avail. I Even cleared the data for call settings apk . Would anyone like go share insights on what it could be? I have never had this issue, I like this rom for its stock look so I dont want to try and switch.

It should still work. When you get to the part where it gives you the option to "Configure," hit skip. It will finish logging you in. It will still become your primary voicemail provider, it will just be done using a forwarding number. Every time a call goes to voicemail, it does a quick call forward to a number assigned to your account my Google. The voicemail is recorded here. This would also be the number you would use if you use Google Voice to make phone calls.
Your voicemails will still appear in the Google Voice App & Widget. Nothing will be different from your perspective. It will all be behind the scenes stuff that makes it happen. But, the lack on configuring with your device won't effect you ability to use Google Voice as your primary mailbox for voicemail.
It doesn't work. It still gets directed to my att voicemail and voicemails are still being recorded on my att voicemail.

I actually ran into this exact issue yesterday, and its an easy fix.
Just log into Google Voice on your PC, and under settings, unassociate your phone with Google Voice, then Re-Associate it.
Google will give you the string of characters to enter in and it will work. I can confirm using the Note's interface to do it will not stick.
Got it! Thanks .

[Q] call bocker like the one on the S2

so as the title says was searching for an app that blocks call like the s2 does. i recently upgraded to N4 and i miss this funtionality.
don't tell me search the playstore . almost all apps would do the same either send u to voicemail by hanging up or answer and hang up quickly. and either way the caller would know that u hung up.
with the call blocker from the SGS2 ur screen will flash only once and u would see the a blocked call on ur call log , the caller on the other hand would only get to hear that u r out of coverage.
i hope someone here could help me out
PS : sorry for my english

[Q] Google Voice Wrking for Anyone?

Google voice isn't give me voicemail notifications and app settings are fine. In voicemail settings, it says iconditional forwarding unsuccessful. I tried that manual way where it starts with **004 but that didn't make a difference. Any ideas? Thanks.
I still don't think this has been resolved, or really even addressed, yet.

It's funny how GV App has remain buggy and featureless. I wonder why the hell Google doesn't fix it and gives it a major overhaul like all their other apps. Like for instance I've always wondered why don't they include in-app purchasing capabilities for when you want to top off your account for international calling.... that's just messed up.
Google should really pay attention to that app, many people use this service and deserve something better.
GV works fine for me. You need to be post-paid. Pre-paid doesn't have call forwarding.
I have post paid
So do I, so that's certainly not the issue.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I got it to work by manually doing call forwarding to my GV number, only to see it switch back a couple days later. I believe it had to do with using T-mobile's WiFi calling, but I can't say for certain.
