Screen shots? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

im having issues getting a damn screen shot to work? anyone have any tips or another app they are using?

Hold down home & power.
Or, if the palm gesture is enabled, put your hand on one side of the screen in a karate chop position and swipe across.

Yeah, you gotta press both at the same exact time, takes some practice, lol

Home and lock at the same time if ur using HTC phones.

Vibrant home button leakage

I've been searching on google and on here and can't seem to find a thread on it.
My home button led seems to leak half way into my display when i'm viewing a black screen.
The screen would display a black image and having the buttons on makes the home button leak on the screen
It is really annoying... Anyone else have this issue? it looks like a lightsaber on my phone...

Given where you sent this message from, I think you may be in the wrong forum.
If not, I can't say I've had such an issue, but apart from using a mod to turn off the LEDs for good, there's probably not much you can do.
i'm using my hd2 because I just got my vibrant from Samsung for a screen replacement....
No one has a problem if the led from home leaking?

thanks for your help!
Exact same problem with the home key, gradually learnt to live with it
How bad is yours? I just need to feel better about it lol
My gf is not as bad as mine

In complete darkness it gets to about half of the screen. In normal light its not as bad.

Yea I have the same problem, My gfs doesnt. I think its a factory defect when they are putting it together. One little pinhole in the paint that seperates the softkeys from the rest of the screen and boom, you have led glare half way up the screen.
I had 3 vibrants replaced an they all had same problem but I dont care buttons are off most of the time
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have this problem but it's very minor. I barely see it when dark. Do they just give you a new vibrant for replacement? Were you able to force them to let you do like an upgrade to a better phone or something?
no they replaced the chrome bezel and the housing + the display and glass...
It's practically new now..

Same exact thing here. The home button leakage is on most(if not all) vibrants. But it's only noticable in near or in pitch dark really. Using 2.2.1 roms turn off the lights while not being used but for some reason, that particular build on whatever rom always decreases sensitivity to the point where going back to used applications(holding home) doesn't work while the processor is being used extensively(800-1ghz) which is REALLY annoying. Anyone else by chance?

Since doing the work it too much, Ilm sure they instead give you a refurbished vibrant and used your old one for parts. In other words, Samsung didn't repair anything for yours but gave you another vibrant(which could be using parts from various sources).
It's the same imei and the same way the home button leaks... I also have a minor scratch on the camera which mine still has

[Q] Is there a slight delay when swiping on a screen?

For example, when I'm switching from home screens, the instant I press on the screen and start swiping, it takes about half a second to move. Is that normal? I'm using a thin screen protector, could that be the problem, if there is any.
the protectors r not a prblm,,but android was designed for buttuns not touch..long back many articles were rised on this...the lag is there in every roms..the ios is thts y very diff frm android as once said by google team in their code work area...the diff were raised by a google architec i think long bak too...but iam used to it an i got many droids an i feel the sgs2 is pretty fast an frankly out of the box i dint notice any lag....(((the post here is is no way to harm any ios or droid users)))

It's clearly nonsense. At least, what I can decipher from it.

new evo user impression so far

so i had an htc hero for 2.5 years, and made the decision to finally upgrade.
this is just my 2 cents so far (quick review)
i like the phone. there are a few things about it that just seem funky though, and i know some of you are working on fixes.
i dislike:
-the on-screen menu button. should be re-mapped to the recent apps button, and long pressing the recent apps button should open up the app switcher. the app switcher itself is annoying. i don't like scrolling through cards. i miss a bunch of icons popping up and me picking which app i was using that way.
-the multi-tasking issues (gr)
Wait upgraded... From.... Hero.... Congrats .. And Idk why everyone wants buttons re mapped I guess some features are used more my some people then myself. I n the multi tasking I'd annoying we all agree with that lol.

Some people are just more conservative when it comes to changing old habits. I personally like the new three button standard. Then again I am just a college kid

i know right? i was used to it and it worked for me. i even develop themes lol. but i used a droid2 to test them on. i liked the hero.
to be honest, i miss the trackball. SO MUCH easier to edit text with. like, seriously.
I think it is great you got much use out of the Hero. I am glad to see that when other people use/try out every new phone that comes out. Not throwing stones but not me. Takes me too long to learn all the ins and outs of a new phone.

I agree, and I was one of those. I spent two days with the new evo from the OG EVO, and I almost forgot about the things that I was so used to. There are so many pluses to ICS. Maybe it's the beautiful screen that distracted me like a swinging pendulum hypnosis, or the FAST camera. Huge step up from EVO 4G. If I was coming from the Hero, I would have jizzed!

Well...... Welcome to the EVO 4g LTE
As for the stuff you dislike, you can flash a rom to get rid of the on screen menu button and make one of the capacitive buttons the menu button. I think you can get an app to make the multitasking look different... I remember something like this when using gingerbread.
I don't have any multitasking issued but I do have a bit of lag when switching tasks or just lag in general.... If that is what you meant.
pkmn rom is the heavy weight champ. unlike most, I like the multitasking button but i hated the three dot menu. The pkmn rom let's u remap buttons with long press options so I have menu set up for long press home and toggle off the three dot menu - it's perfect. You can also change the multitasking to the stock Android look. it's the perfect rom - yall should check it out
where can I find said ROM? I didn't see it in the dev section. I'll google it

Sunken home button

Does anyone else have a sunken in home button? I've had my SGS3 for about two weeks and the home button seems to be lower. I went to the Sprint store today and compared it to the floor model and the button on that one seems to be slightly raised. Is this just from daily use? I doubt it is since I've only it for a short period of time. Would love to have some insight from other members before I go in for a possible swap.

Another reason to ditch the home button lol...i havent touched the home button since the first wk i got my phone, using LMT to replace the buttons
mine is like a half mm raised
maybe it's just a false perception due to a case?

App that allows you to use either gestures or Pie chart with onscreen buttons to replace the capacitive/physical home button, I use pie chart u can remap the shortcuts, i never need to use the home button or capacitives.
Nah. I took off the case and screen protector to make sure and my button is definitely lower. Was just wondering if this is common after a couple weeks (which I highly doubt) or if my device is faulty

I'm going to try it also. Is there a way to unlock the phone with an action? It's a terrible interface, but has some useful features.

Small yet cool feature on s3

My friend just got the s3 and its an awesome phone but I still prefer sense but one feature I liked was the gesture palm swipe for screen shots, you think its possible to port that feature over, its no big deal I just take a lot of screen shots and thought that was the best n quickest method lol
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Unless it was very easy I don't see it happening when we have the built in ics screenshot button combo..but I agree out of all the gimmicks on the phone that is one of the cooler ones
I had the s3 and taking a screen shot was annoying for me lol
