[Q] Best Gingerbread Rom for x10 without risk - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all... My phone screen touch stopped working after flashing on 2.3.3. You can read in this link about the problem But now my problem is solved. I took it to mobile service center and they charged me $10.
Now my phone is on Android version 1.6. You know that how is android 1.6 . So I want to upgrade my phone to gingerbread without any risk. I don't want my screen touch to run smoothly after update. So which ROM would be better for me? Do I have any risk again while I upgrade to gingerbread?
Here is my phone details:
Model number:x10i
Firmware version:1.6
Basebad version:1.0.14
Kernel version:2.6.29-rel [email protected] #2
Build number:R1FA014
My phone was x10a but after repair it's now x10i

I think that You can upgrade to gingerbread with SEUS. It doesn't work so smooth as android 1.6 or custom gingerbread ROM. but touchscreen should work normally

all perfect rom...ics may have some problems but the other rom is very cool

hey
i would strongly recommend you to flash fxp125... rom it is the best out there with no bugs or fc's or wlod's
i flashed it on my sister's phone and she hasn't complained to me even once of the phone hanging....
plus it not as restricting as other rom's has many customization options....
VOILA

[Q] How to make it default ?

Hello,
I have a x10i..
I wanted to try out different ROM hence used the tutorial available here (in the forum) to ROOT the device and install different ROM versions along with baseband and as such things..
Finally, I wanted to revert back to my default Sony given ROM..
Whats the official (Sony) process to restore or rather install the default SE ROM (that 2.1 android) ??
I tried that Sony PC Suite phone repair, but after restoration, with the default ROM, my device is not running smooth.. I dont have any apps installed apart from the default things which came after the phone repair, but still the phone is running dam slow and sluggish..
How can I get the performance issue solved ?? Did I missed anything in restoration process ?? (using the sony pc suite repair phone option) ??
I am really unhappy with this sluggishness so i am thinking that I must have done something wrong in the restoration process...
Any help would be appreciable..
Thanks
dude, the stock SE 2.1 is a slow and unsmooth rom.... it is lack in prformance.... theres a lot of 2.1 custom rom that performs better than the stock SE rom.. if u want a fast n smooth rom without any functionality lost... u should consider to usem them.... it is basically sooo laggy with the SE stock rom..... just so tht u know.....

If you have tons of apps downloaded and a whole bunch running all the time, your bound to see a hit in performance.
There's a few certain apps that i found to be just a hog in my performance
ie: timescape, face recognition, learning client to name a few.
I have taken my stock 2.1, rooted it and installed JIT...wiped a WHOLE bunch of useless apps, and my stock 2.1 is NOT by any means sluggish or laggy.
I consider it my own custom rom
Anyways, if you have root access, search for the threads for apps to delete to speed up your phone.
ps. after you reinstall the stock 2.1 from seus or pc companion, your device will be slower as it needs to build it all up again. So, in other words whenever you flash a new ROM or reflash stock 2.1 you have to give your phone time to get up and running full speed.

Ok.. I would wait.. may be this is what i needed to know.
I am using the stock rom and it runs smoothly enough I got jit enabler running, link2sd and sysctl config o get around 34k with linpack. Before rooting i had about 6-8 so major improvement. Used other roms aswell but if cam , wifi tethering isnt working proppetly on Custom roms then ill stick to my 2.1 tweaked rom

Base Band Patch for Gingerbread roms

Use it when your baseband is 54+ and want to try out J's cm7 rom or rdannar's GB Miui rom or Arc rom.
Tested working on J016 and J017 and rdannar's GB Miui - for stock kernel only.
Do it at your own risk and it's not supported by J
Patch it with cm7bb54.zip
Restore back the original with cm7bb52.zip (if you decide to change base band)
This patch won't solve any problem that may come with the rom (such as wlod)
Note: This patch won't work on Trip's GB Miui
pls hit Thanks button if it helps you
I want to make sure I got this all correct:
1. If on bb.54+, flash cm7bb54.zip to patch/use cm7
2. If previously flashed to bb.52, flash cm7bb52.zip to go back to bb.54+
Would I have to flash each zip file every time I want to go back and forth between each rom?
Thanks cobrato!
1.correct
2. only if you decide to flash bb52 again(for any reason) and still want to use cm7 flash cm7bb52.zip
no. if you are flashing a new rom which requires bb54 and you are on bb54 then no need to flash this zip.
Can use this patch for bb.55 ?
I finally gave in and left FreeX10 to test out CM7.
It feels pretty stable but there's some issues I sense still need tweaking and I'll post after I'm done here.
QQ; what improvements have you sensed using .54 over .52, both in general and with CM7?
Personally i don't think there are any improvements. But some people just want a higher number. In fact some of the functions in .54 are broken like auto-time settings.

Not correct.....
If you are in north america .49/.52 causes many issues, especially when it comes to dropped calls , failed text messages and slow 3g+ speeds.
On .55 the failed text issue is fixed completely, I get much better call signal and faster 3g+.

Not without the new kernel, the only way it is possible is if the bootloader gets unlocked

Your usb port, or usb cable?
You can't install the kernel needed for GB without flashtool.
So if your usb port is broken, maybe look on ebay for spare parts to fix it.
If your usb cable is broken, buy a new one.
Good luck
sorry but how do i apply this patch? i'm on BB54 with a broken usb connector
i guess this might be (all steps via xrecovery)
1.- install patch
2.- install 2.3.3 rom (any rom available)
3.- install custom kernel (zKernel might be)
is this correct?
thanks in advance

[Q] 2.1 upgrade to 2.3

t's been awhile since my last upgrade, my X10a is still on 2.1-update1 firmware, baseband 2.1.54, kernel version 2.6.29 with build number 2.1.A.0.435
How to flash to latest 2.3 ?
You can upgrade to gingerbread with with pc companion..
but stock 2.3 from SE is very laggy & slow so install a custom gingerbread rom like Wolfs TW Gingerbread v7
Wolfs TW Gingerbread v7 is a very god rom. it has no bugs, no fcs its very smooth
I do want a custom rom, but can I just flash thru recovery? Given that I'm already rooted.
Yes, flash thru xRecovery

No, you need the baseband 71 as well and that needs flashtool....
Read the OP to any custom rom you want to flash.
Or, use pccompanion to upgrade to stock 2.3 then whilst you are there you can use flashtool to
a) root
b) ask root permissions
c) Install xrecovery (0.3 GB ready)
d) Unlock bootloader (Optional step)
then flash the rom of your choice...

I didn't have any lag on the stock 2.3.3 when I used it for a few weeks, about half unrooted, then rooted, and no lag either way. If you have 2.3.3 and lag check your running programs. Our phones are computers now so just like with a pc if you have too much in the background everything gets slow. When I was on stock 2.3.3 my phone was new so I was installing ALL sorts of things finding out what I liked but I always checked settings and permissions of things I was trying out. Bottom line you shouldn't have lag on 2.3.3.

[Q] Problem with Stock Firmware.

You can use Pc companion to re-install a stoxl rom, than re-root it. Or reinstall the rom

Stock gingerbread rom is very laggy and slow. I think there is such a thing like fpsuncap or sth.like that, that makes the rom faster. I never used that, bwcause every custom ROM has that. Search for it in the dev forum.
