[Q] Silencing the plugged into usb/charger notification? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

So the little popping noise when I plug my phone into the charger/usb is driving me nuts. Sometimes I have to do it at work or when my wife is sleeping. Is there any way to remove the USB notification sound?

Are you rooted ? If so use root explorer to rename the ogg file.
Its in system/media/audio/ui/ Charger_Connection.ogg
You can rename it and it wont make the sound anymore. I've done it on mine and someone else posted the same question and worked for them

Ringtone issue after root

Hi guys
When i got a call.
My ringtone (mp3 song) playings after a few seconds i get a screaming background melodie like a alarm.
Its louder then my ringtone :-( very very bad.
When i tried a other ringtone i get the same issue.
When i using mediascape its all fine.
Maybe he makes the issue when the phone its locked. I tested a few times but i am not sure. Its a bad sound and i dont want to destruc my speaker :-( greetz Hph

I had that problem when I was unrooted, and unplug your phone after unmounting the sd card.
And how is it gone? ;-)

The problem is your phone can't access the sd contents while it is mounted on your computer, thus the piercing noise.
i mounted my phone to pc
and then i unpugged the ubscable
i hope its gone now thnx

Try getting someone to call you to test.

[MOD] Just for fun - Linda on Charging 02/16/11

Tiny little mod out of boredom.
Linda will speak when you charge
Extract the file.
Push to /system/media/audio/ui
you can overwrite existing or add .bak to it
plug your phone to charger to see if it worked.
Enjoy
Cool

"power source connected, battery charging."
I like this idea. I always get funny looks when I reboot my phone b/c of linda's voice. Would be neat to have a full suite too, but hey, let's see how linda works. Seems worth the time investment to have something so sweet available
Edit: Just pushed the file, and the voice seems to have a little more resonance than the Linda voice on shutdown. I'm gonna mod it a bit for fun and see what I can come up with
Edit 2: Apparently sound editing isn't my strong suit. Oh well, I guess I'll stick with what I know

doesn't matter where you extract it. as long as u put the extracted file in the right folder/directory.
if you say root explorer sees the directory as read only, check the top right corner.
tap the little r/o button make sure it reads r/w then paste the file there.

How do I switch off sounds when booting, taking a photo or charging?

You need to root your phone. After that, use a root file explorer to go to /system/media/Audio/ui and delete/rename all sounds that you don't want to hear any more.

Thanks, but the apps would still attempt to play the sounds, only they wouldn't find it.
Isn't there another way to make the apps/system not try to play them at all?

No, unless you mute all sounds. There are no drawbacks from renaming the files. What's the problem?

Turn off the the sound the phone makes when connecting to a charger?

If possible, can you tell me how to enable /disable the sound the phone makes when it connects to the charger. I was looking in root explorer to find the filed but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi
Its in system/media/audio/ui/ Charger_Connection.ogg
You can rename it and it wont come on anymore

thank you so much for your time and your answer! That worked perfectly

Galaxy Note 2, boot sound starts and keeps looping.

When I shutdown my phone or reboot it the boot tune, the one that happens when you first turn on the phone happens, then the Verizon 4g lte tune happens, finally right after that the boot tune happens again but this time MUCH louder and it loops while the phone is on infinitely, unless I pull down my notification bar, otherwise it'll play over all other sounds, and even while the screen is off.
Anyone have a fix, I'm unrooted, I have done nothing exotic to the phone, everything is stock and typical, help, thanks.

Unfortunately, it sounds like a factory reset would be the only sure option... Something got screwy, but without a restore point, wiping might be the only way to fix it

Have the same problem, has any resolution been found ?
Edit : I have tried "Silent Boot" and "No Statup Sound" apps and they work once but the sound comes back.
^ another option all tho im sure this is not the op's problem:
-must have root
-install a root explorer app
-navigate to the system/media/audio/ui folder
-scroll down and add .bak to the end of files poweron.ogg & poweroff.ogg.

I have tried multiple file explorers and none of them work. Is there a free root explorer that will perform this task ?
