This is a feature that i had a quick look at earlier and it didn't show ny problems.
Settings-> More Settings-> Nearby Devices-> File Sharing is locked on Off and i cannot switch it back to On.
This is getting quite irritating as I've been trying to set up Allshare Play streaming between laptop and S3.
Not sure when it got locked but it might have happened only after my latest update to LFB with Odin.
I had used Odin before to flash CF-root and it was working fine.
I tried switching on and off all the other toggles such as NFC wi-fi direct Android beam and S beam but nothing helped.
Anyone's got an idea how to get this working again??
ANY suggestions please.
No clues?
I got the smae problem original stock rom

you gotta do this magic trick:
- connect to wifi network
- open that settings tab
- should be disabled
- say 'i love my galaxy' three times - loud and clear
- tada!

I don't see "Nearby Devices" under the Applications manager. What am I missing? My file sharing option is also disabled and everything is greyed out.

I must be blind because I'm still not seeing it under the "All" tab. In the N's I see Network Location, Nfc Service, and NFC Test.

Have you downloaded internet settings on your phone? Go to menu, Xperia, internet settings download and try that. If that still doesn't work, come back and let's try fix this!

Hi guys, can i ask something connected to data - on GB Sola when i put all automatic connections to manual data was never working/blinking.
Now in ICS i have google play account and my corporate mail, both put on manual not automatic, and very often data is stil working/blinking.
Why is that?
You mean data sometimes blinks and sometimes doesn't?
If it's what I think you mean, the data sign blinks only when data is being transferred, it remains still when no data is needed. I'm not totally sure but I think that's what you mean?

Yeah, thats what i mean. In GB it wasnt blinking until data is activated by something, here its blinks when it wants.
Second strange thing is - in Accounts i remove Automatic Updates for google account, but sometimes the phone tells me there is an update - why it continue checking for updates? (Never happened in gb)
If data blinks a lot, it must be background apps. News apps/facebook/emails?
When you get notification of an update, is it for apps in the play store or a Sony update centre update? If it's apps in the play store, the only way that I know of getting rid of that is 'disable background data' or as you would expect, 'data enable'.

No news, no facebook account, no email accounts either. In GB when i set my gmail account to "no automatic updates", data never made a blink.
It blinks because of Google Play app updates. The gmail account is set to "no autoupdates", but still inform of updates.
What do you mean by "disable background data", where can i find this?
Yeah I find the Play Store updates annoying sometimes too. A tiny, tiny update in a game I only use sometimes does not need to barage the top of my phone screen.
OK I have just looked into 'disable background data'. I thought it was renamed in ICS, but according to this:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...-require-background-sync-on-ice-cream-sandwic
'background data' has been *permenantly turned on* in ICS, whereas in Gingerbread we were able to turn it off with a tick box. The menu in Gingerbread said that that disabled app notifications and saved battery.
I found more people discussing it on this thread, if you would like to read more, I'm sorry to say it's no longer possible in ICS, only Gingerbread and earlier
http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...h/193193-background-data-disabling-w-ics.html
Ok, i see buddy If you find solution somwhere post it here. Thank you

I found a solution to this! I can tell you how to turn off Google Play Store updates if you need to, go to the Store, then click settings, you can turn off notifications for updates there! :victory:

Can someone let us know if htc implemented the map profile so we can get email/SMS pushed to our cars? We are testing some iPhones but I do miss the android ecosystem. Thanks!
Can someone who has the phone take a look at the Bluetooth settings and see if there is anything for MAP?

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you also check for any settings for a device that is paired and connected? I'm sorry to bug but I went to an AT&T store yesterday and they had a DEAD htc one on display. It wouldn't boot nor charge. sigh.
Odd, I see this setting on my One. Under Bluetooth -> Advanced, are two options, FTP Server and Message access. Assuming the latter is the MAP setting.

I've noticed that whenever I go somewhere and I'm near another wi-fi network my phone saves it in the available networks. The problem I have is it won't remove ANY of them that I'm no longer near. I've got 20+ listed and several are points from across the city I live in. I can't figure out how to get my phone to purge the list when a network isn't close by.
Any advice?

When you click on them, it doesn't give you an option to Forget them?

No. The only ones that will allow me to "forget" are the ones I have saved. The ones that are stuck are ones I've never accessed.
Ah ok. That's a rather strange behavior.
Maybe something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roamingsoft.manager could sort it out? Not really sure. Hard to find info on this particular quirk due to the keywords bringing up a million other wifi issues.
Thanks for the help. The "Wi-fi Manager" works great but the stock wi-fi manager is still screwy.

No problem. Better than nothing, at least. If you had an iPhone or Windows phone that was being weird like that, you'd just have to deal with it.
(note: Not knocking iOS or WP, just saying)
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the GPS not working? The phone is able to determine my current location but is unable to actually navigate anywhere. Google maps never shows an arrow to indicate the GPS is locked. I've also used several Gps app to help correct it. I've done multiple resets and app updates I've even sent the phone back to Nokia twice just for them to tell me nothing is wrong. My phone is running the latest update as of March 11. Please help!

Review your 'Location' settings.
Go to Settings - - > Security & Location
Look for Location (it should say On) press to open Location menu screen, review all options shown.
Near bottom of list look for Scanning and select. This will bring up options to use wifi and Bluetooth to scan for positioning. Turn them both on.
They help even when not using. System uses to triangulate (better identify location).
Also check 'Google Location Accuracy'. I know from experience if that selection is off GPS will work, but navigation Apps are fairly useless.
Some suggestions. Hope it helps.

Tried all of that to no avail. They were already on so switched them off then on, checked maps, restarted phone and checked again.

Hello, I have this problem too, there is no solution

你好,我也遇到同样的问题,没办法解决。
turn off: Google Location Accuracy, GPS will working.
when open google maps, it will ask to turn on Google Location Accuracy .... select NO!!!
On my device, this worked. Download the app "GPS Test" from F-Driod (might be in Play Store? I never looked...) https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.android.gpstest.osmdroid/
In the app, click the "Clear assist data" wait a few minutes. I've waited between 1 - 20 minutes in the past. The GPS redoes all it's data and starts working again for me.
I had the same problem. Contacted Nokia, it's a known problem caused by an update.
About a month ago I received a new update and since then everything GPS related is working fine again.
I had the same problem and sent my phone to repair. They confirmed the issue and corrected it. Since then the GPS works well.

Everything worked well up to today. Since today same problem again. No GPS signal... Nothing seems to get it back working again... Big disappointment!
