So I have a couple of friends who are real apple fan boys and yesterday they kept on braggin while sending photos and videos from their phones over to their TV using Apple TV.
Do we have a hack/mod/app that would allow me to make my Android Device connect to it and toss pictures up on the screen? I wanted to do the of Android Peeing on the Apple.
Thanks guys!
Buy one of these
Edit: I think doubleTwist will let you connect to an Apple TV. Just download that.
You can try AppleTV Media from the Play store, its the best way to control and share content with your AppleTV from an Android device. I have 2 AppleTV's at home and it works flawlessly
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS56YXBwb3R2YXBwbGUiXQ..
Definitely worth a try.
Using media share u can use DLNA compatible devices, I've used my ps3. Works well but I prefer hdmi as the quality is better. Hookup ur phone via hdmi and get 1080p and 5.1 audio if ur videos are encoded with it...ask if their iCrap can do that.
Also love hooking up via hdmi and using my ps3 controller for games, especially onlive. Do that and ur apple friends will be selling their junk on eBay.

Please tell me what rom and the steps you followed to get the evolte to play nice with the sixaxis controller. I have been going crazy for 3 days trying to get this bastard to work! Please PM me or something, It will be very appreciated
Haha! Thank you guys!
If you do this, have another device taking video of the footage of your friends' reaction to the android peeing on apple footage on their nice little AppleTV. Optional: wash, rinse, repeat for android awesomeness inception.

Ok guys, I have done some hunting on the internet for a way to use my Android Tablet as a display for my PS3.
Now I am sure some of you are thinking "That's an effing great idea blorenzo, you are so awesome and wise" while others are thinking "why do you want to do that?"
To put it simply, for example say I am playing PS3 in my room (where my PS3 is located) but feel the sudden urge to defecate (take a ****) I can bring my Tablet into the bathroom with me, prop it on something and keep playing. (This is literally the event that gave me this idea)
On top of that say I want to play PS3 in the living room but am not in the mood to bring the entire unit downstairs, I can bring down my Tablet and plug it into the TV and boom! Or better yet say my girl wants me to watch a TV show with her that I am not into (Jersey Shore) then I can bring down my tablet and a PS3 controller (bluetooth reaches for me) and pretend I'm browsing the internet while I am really playing Killzone online.
You see in that situation it is a win/win, she thinks I'm spending time with her and I am actually having a blast killing people. I am sure there are many more uses for such an application and I could list them endlessly.
If it exists already someone point me in that direction if it doesn't... I think someone has ALOT of work ahead of them.
That's really a lot of work. Would the ps3 have built in drivers to transmit image through bluetooth? I think no, you'd need a modded ps3.

Not possible. Simple as. It the same reason you cant have wireless monitors. Too much info to be converted and move at speed.

The WiiU plans on doing it...
Brothers if history has taught us anything its, when there is a will there is a way!
Lets think about this... (I'm not trying to be sarcastic or rude in anyway, I was simply asking these questions out loud to myself)
Are there Android Tablets that Support USB connections? Yes.
Is it possible to receive a video stream via USB? Yes.
So would it theoretically be possible utilizing some sort of USB Dongle? Or HDMI to USB Dongle?
reverse engineer the psp play functionality, does exactly this, right?

Ya that's what I was thinking, I remember checking out my PS3 stuff through my PSP (Checking messages and stuff) on any wifi network, but it was pretty slow and limited, no games or really anything other than the web browser and messsage box. Maybe there will be something better with the PS Vita.

this guy here seem to have done what you want http://ps3maven.com/portable-ps3-mod/ and to everybody who said it cant be done in your face
to do this with an android tablet you would need two things:
1. you would need a wireless HDMI bridge (they're expensive, but something like this: http://goo.gl/z53fL)
2. You would need someone to make a mod/app for the tablet to convert HDMI out port into an HDMI in port. This would be done in either via an app or a mod to the actual kernel and how it uses the HDMI port. AFAIK most android tablets have an Mini HDMI port on them.
Doing these two things would give you wireless signal to your tablet anywhere that is within range of the HDMI bridge.
Nice, thanks for the reply's guys and now we know for a fact that its not impossible. If we only had a Dev who could see that this would be an awesome application for a tablet and come up with a way to achieve it.
Or Sony could just release this app officially, I would gladly pay for it.
I guess I will continue to dream...
I think HDMI in for a android tablet would be sweet! Think of taking car trips with a xbox or ps3. Or any of the many other devices you could plug in!

Hmmm I guess this was a question that we wanted to turn into a development.... kinda a gray zone in my opinion. But alas I guess my opinion is null.

i have limited background in this, but was looking for the same thing. and everyone is saying it is not possible. Bluetooth is entirely plausible... plus the bandwith is **** so the image would either look good, but have about 2 frames a minute, or look like **** and be mostly playable. however, the PSP and PS Vita can do something similar over the network. if someone can rip the "Remote Play" bit out of a vita, and toss it in some sort of emulator, it might work. but the PS3 controller would likely have to be connected to the tablet.
Tablet PS3 monitor - The easy way!
Really...
If you have a PC with a video in PCI card (maybe if you don't mind the bad quality you could use a webcam even) plug your audio, and video from your PS3 to your computer. Use VLC to stream the incoming video and audio over your LAN in a format that your tablet can play. Play the stream via the media player on your tablet. Done.
Your welcome.
sounds good, buuuuuuut...

I was actually thinking of a device that did the same thing (PS3 or other video source to tablet). Have you found any products like this out there yet?
I understand what AmnzeroCorrosion is saying as to how that path may work, but I think this glosses over some technical challenges. Using most video capture cards will introduce latency b/c most video capture cards encode to MPEG. While being very efficient in bandwidth usage, MPEG uses interframe comrpession so it takes a couple frames of video being input before the first frame can be sent over the network. Couple that with network delays and the latency only increases. I wouldnt see it taking much before the latency of the setup would make it unbearable for fast twitch games.
I would be extremely interested to know if this has been tackled already.
Idisplay might work
I was googling on it and found Idisplay application. Not sure if anyone tried on it, but i am planning to use it for my PS3 and LG 3D Android mobile.
If already anyone use then welcome to share experience.

so far my best option seems to be dlna but my tv doesnt have that function built in.
does anyone know of a solution or am i out off luck?

If you have a samsung tv or a smartv it the tv itself might support certain apps that will work. Samsung has Swipe, and Allshare. Other tv's might support Allshare as well.
It doesn't sound like you have one though so I don't have a better solution for you
I just bought a smart TV and would love to use my phone wirelessly to my TV not just for streaming but for games and web surfing as well.
have not played with my new TV to much should there be some sort of app/store that i need to access on my TV to get these.

Hello,
In this thread, i want know something about all those "Chinese'' (or is there any original) Android TV Boxes and media players.
I saw on eBay some stuff. Looks well, too.
I want to buy one, becouse i'm big android fan, and i can't live without Android.
So, does anyone know some information which is better to use?
Just wait on the next version of Google TV.

I'm looking to Sony Google TV, it looks awesome, but price isn't very good, too. But is that good? Also, Logitech Google TV looks awesome, but which one? Or, maybe any chinese Google TV?
I have the Logictech Revue, its pretty cool. They say new boxes will be available this summer or fall.

I had both the Logitech Revue and a Geniatech ATV1000 (Android TV) and ended up selling the Revue because I liked the ATV 1000 better.
However the ATV 1000 does require a little bit of work to make it good but after updating to a newer firmware the box is awesome.
I mainly use it for streaming videos online and it supports a lot more video formats than the Revue did. I also had a lot of problems with Netflix on the Revue. I was constantly having to reset the box to make Netflix work again.

Thank you for information. Maybe i just have to buy apple TV? Don't know why i want it, but all reviews about Logitech Revue is bad. Or maybe any of those all Chinese Android TV's?

Hi, with the latest Ice Cream Sandwich update, did you manage to get YouTube working on the ATV1000? If so, how did you do it?
Thank you.

I actually prefer using it with Gingerbread (2.3.4) (firmware 20111102) I have the best luck with it and it is really stable.
Youtube works alright but sometimes when searching videos it times out and I have to hit the retry button. However my A500 and Nexus tablets occasionally have the same problem.
I mostly use the box for streaming online movies from Putlocker or Sockshare for this it works really well.
I hope this helps. Good luck
Hey guys,
Looking at getting a new head unit for my truck, and I saw that Pioneer had some that used Android Media Control through the USB, and I just wondered if anyone had used it and knew how well it worked.
I just had some questions like does it recognize playlists and stuff like that. Especially if I'm using something like doubleTwist to sync my music to my phone.
Or am I just better off using bluetooth?

I don't mean the App Radio 2, those are expensive.
I'm just talking about their usb interface. I'm wondering if it'll recognize playlists and stuff from non-OEM music players, or if it just uses the file system to play music. I always hated using it that way, because you could never organize your music, unless you put everything into separate folders. And that's a pain in the @$$.
Here is the deck that I'm looking at:
Pioneer FH-X700BT
Bump.
Anyone got any experiences with newer Pioneer, Android, and how the well the deck works over USB?

App radio 2 is bad ass. Picked it up at Best Buy for $250 brand new. Since Pioneer is pushing out the 3 now, the 2 is hard to find for a deal but I have seen them out there. Full HDMI mirroring with touch imput. Cant beat it.
I've got a AVH-P1400DVD and it used to work like a usb drive. It also read all the files, so any ringtones or sounds would be thrown in the mix. I've heard the newer models have better Android support, but I own an iPod just for the car. Unfortunately, nobody has mastered Apple's integration... yet.
App radio also supports iPhone/iPod. Check out appradioforums.com

looking for some tips. i was in the market for a roku or a chromecast (eventually would prob get a chromecast anyways, but i like having a nice UI hence XBMC) to put on my living room TV, but thought maybe i could use my phone running xbmc instead with an hdmi out cable.
anyone have any experience with this? any lag? issues? hiccups? thanks.
thought about getting an android stick like MK808 but figured the Droid DNA would be more powerful.
Have 3 rokus in the house and one machine running plex with a 2tb nas drive full of movies etc. Have you ever used plex? It's looks and acts just like netflix and the picture quality/transcoding is superb! Plex rocks!
Not a fan of the netflex/plex UI on the roku
