hrm.....
I wish to know this as well
I wonder if one person can do this, if they can then do a system dump and it would work for others?
Here's the latest on a JTAG solution:

That would be awesome provided we do not need to each send our phone in to get the bootloader unlocked.

that is most definitely what would be required unless you have jtag equipment available

Wouldn't one person be able to do it, do a system dump and then send it to the rest of us?

I was wondering how Carrier and Country affect getting updates? I have a Z Ultra 6802 (HK - came with Chinese apps) and haven't seen the 501 update on my phone yet and I really don't want to unlock the bootloader.
So I guess my ultimate question is: Will I get the update in the US while on AT&T? (I'm ok waiting, just want to know)
Thanks,
toonhead

Eventually. Or you can do what I did and flash a generic 510. Then use PC companion to repair if it doesn't work properly. When repaired, a new version of 510 is installed by Sony that works.

Does this require unlocking the bootloader or root? I don't want to so that quite yet...
Thanks for the reply!

Look at the opening posts for both these threads. The first shows you how to flash the firmware that will need repair and the second will show you how to repair.

You'll need to explain what you mean. You want an image to flash that has an unlocked bootloader? cause thats not possible.
You'll need to unlock it manually.

Hamdogg, I specifically need the actual image of the unlocked bootloader partition. Basically through adb shell and running the following command to pull the aboot partition, which is the bootloader, and pull it into the sdcard, dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot of=/sdcard/aboot.img
Do you have an unlocked bootloader? If so could you possibly dump that image for me?

Yeah I'll do it when I get back... might be a few days. Ahhhh actually its locked.
Umm... when my other one.. my C6802 gets back from repair I'll unlock that again and do it.
I have no idea when that will be fixed.

Crap. I was hoping it was 2 mb. I need to find a bootloader that is 2mb from a Snapdragon 800 device, not including the kindle hdx.

Thanks for the reply but how? Would I flash the stock image in twrp? Would that remove twrp after?

If you unlock with a code through Hauwei's official process they will have a record that you requested the code.
It's not a blanket "voided" warranty thing, since they specifically say the warranty is voided if the issue is a result of dev work (therefore not voiding the warranty out right from unlocking), BUT I assume how they evaluate that is up to them.
Also, just a FYI when the bootloader is re locked it states it as "relocked" in thr bootloader instead of Locked.
Is it still possible to fix this phone if it stuck at this screen on every boot?

Unbrick method is common to a device series. But the files you use aren't. Only the modem files are different as far as I have seen. Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think any other difference is there. After unbricking, you will get partition errors. Then, simply go to fastboot and use the correct files from your firmware. Instruction are given in my GitHub repository for this project. Read through my post and GitHub README.MD
Between, I'm still making things proper... You can have a look though..

Well I have the xt830c model and all i really want is the xt1022 5.1 update lol. I cant acquire root or unlock the bootloader because of worthless straight talk and its my only device
I'm trying to come up with a way to relock my Bootloader... Does anybody know how it's done on the ROG? I tried running oem lock in fastboot but it kept saying error.

I didn't want to give ASUS a heads up on the issue, but I don't care anymore. You can use a "raw" firmware to relock the bootloader. But this will not restore Over The Air (OTA) updates.

Ok, thank you much for the info. I just ordered the ASUS ROG Phone yesterday, coming from the Note9. Just trying to brush up on the device and recovery options etc before it arrives. Also hoping I have made a huge mistake.
What is a RAW firmware? Cause I always use whatever update they have online to flash mine.

Here is a WW raw firmware; others can be found with Google:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78160485&postcount=24
For anyone still interested, according to the flashall.cmd packaged with the RAW firmware the relevant command seems to be "fastboot oem asus-csc_lk" @Tesla74 as the cmd file actually checks if the Bootloader was unlocked and then relocks it I don't think this is a mistake or something unintentionally done by Asus but wanted this way
Kind regards
Have you sorted ? Managed to relock ?
