Dumb Question about Rooting the SIII (Yay!!) - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

When rooting, does it also unlock the phone? I know it does for HTC phones, (this is my first Samsung Android) but what about Sammies?

No, It won't unlock

[Q] Quick question about debranding an Orange branded GS2

Hi all.
Please go easy on me if this particular question has been asked before.
I have just come from the HTC Desire and have been a GS2 owner for the grand total of three days (at time of posting).
I undestand that in order to debrand my device I have to follow the instructions in THIS THREAD.
However, having come from previous Orange branded devices (HTC Desire and TYTN II) I know that sometimes the citrus flavoured ones don't make things easy e.g. the TyTN II had to be SIM-unlocked or else it would lock the device so that even an Orange SIM card wouldn't work, and the Desire required a Goldcard in order to de-brand.
So my question is this: Does the phone need to be SIM-unlocked BEFORE carrying out the debrand process?
Also, I have read of a few people having problems changing the CSC code, and with Keis sometimes not recognising the devices after debranding. Is there anything else I need to pay particular attention to when carrying out the debrand process?
Many thanks in advance

[Q] Factory unlock and post unlock code.

Hi all,
The S3 is my first Android phone, so sorry if the question is redundant or dumb. But i couldn't find any clear info on the subject.
I bought a S3 locked under a promotion to unlock after 2 days with a code that was provided by the carrier, and now i have the
phone unlocked and using a SIM from another carrier.
While reading through the wanam lite thread, i noticed that the kind of unlock i have might not be considered a factory unlock.
My question is if can i flash my phone with a customized Rom (like wanam) and still retain the unlocked state? This kind of unlock is permanent?
Or i will brick my phone?
Thanks

[Q] Unroot atrix, unlock bootloader, warranty

Hey guys I'm asking on behalf of my gf (i have htc sensation xe, so i'm not using lame excuses ) Her phone is not rooted (yet ) and I'm wondering whether is possible to unroot the atrix 4g so that it goes back to "brand new"/out of the factory status and there are no warranty problems related to the rooting.
Also: is it possible to flash a custom rom without unlocking the bootloader (so that warranty is not voided)? And does going s-off void the warranty as well?
Thanks in advance for the support!

I seem to recall that it is possible to unroot your phone (but you'll have to look around here), when you do unlock the bootload an 'unlocked' appears on the left hand screen when the rom is loading.
Anyways, see how you go with reading the above guides
There is no way to flash a custom ROM without custom recovery, which needs an unlocked BL.
S-OFF does not exist on the Atrix.

First time LG USER (Apart from Nexus 4) - Bootloader question

Hello!
I have a question regarding the bootloader og the LG G2. Maybe this even applies to previous products.
I've owned the HTC one X and if it was a branded phone you could not flash any stock firmware unless you would get S-OFF.
Now what i would like to know is how this is handled by LG? Can anyone enlighten me?
I'm deciding to pick up this phone and i'm not sure about the bootloader but it's of huge concern to me
Thanks in advance

First:
The Q and A section are for questions
Second:
Loki method was just confirmed for the verizon and AT&T version of this device. All you have to do is flash the recovery via adb (or maybe in the future with goomanager) and flash roms (when they are available. currently they are not)
This has a locked bootloader like the One X but Loki is an exploit that goes around the bootloader without having to unlock it.
Third:
htc one x didnt require S off to flash, it just required unlocking the bootloader via HTC DEV after changing your CID (i think that what it is called) to all 1's. S off is security off, it allows you to do more with the bootloader like remove tampered and unlocked or change your CID to another HTC One X variant to get OTAs
My god I had totally forgotten about the Q&A forum. I apologize. Due to my excitement for the LG G2 i just couldn't resist getting this posted ASAP. Much thanks !

[Q] Want to unlock bootloader on s3 i9300 running 4.3, please help?

New to the whole rooting process, want to flash custom roms but don't know how to unlock bootloader (if it isn't already unlocked, I've read that most samsungs have it pre-unlocked but have also read that it is locked on 4.3 and is problematic when trying to unlock)
Search first, there are hundreds of identical questions.
The i9300 doesn't have a locked bootloader, unless it is a Chinese firmware.
