Is it possible to transfer the video (like Netflix) from the SGS3 to a laptop (Asus G74S) to watch it on the bigger screen? I don't have access to a TV most. of the time but I have mylaptop.
I couldn't find an answer on Google or search but I'm trying to research on my phone.

A bit confused on what your trying to do... You can just go to netflix on your computer and watch it.
If the problem is that you don't have internet on your laptop, you can use one of quite a few different tethering apps. That way you can use your cell phone's internet on your laptop.
As for any video that you have on your phone itself, you can plug it in and transfer the files. Or if you don't have a wire you can use bluetooth or adhoc network to transfer the files.
Unfortunately Verizon charges for tethering. On grandfathered on data and don't want to change it. I want it mostly for Netflix but I am a truck driver and stable internet is often hard to find, even on a lot of pay services.

Hello. Just bought my third HTC phone and I am very happy with it. The 1080P video sounds especially appealing. I saw there was an HDMI adapter which I mentioned to the sales guy and he said that his girlfriend had one(of the phones) and their TV (which has wifi) automatically picked it up. If I am going to take good HD videos it would be great to send them over wifi to my PS3 (preferably) or my computer with a media server on it to watch them easily. I have heard of an app called awesome drop but everything I have seen is getting media ONTO the phone, not off. I know I could just USB to my computer (and maybe even ps3?) but since it can be on my wifi network it would seem there was some way to easily just push the video wirelessly to watch. I know this isn't specific to the Amaze so if you think I will get better answers I can move to a more general Android area. Thanks always XDA.
Also in the same vein is there some app to just directly move any files freely between the phone and my computer (and maybe even ps3?) over wifi? TY

I use iMediaShare Premium to stream videos stored on my device to my XBox 360. I can also stream Youtube and several other services as well. All connect via wifi.
There's a program called PS3 Media Server that is awesome. I haven't yet tried streaming amaze videos, but I will tonight. THis app is very light weight and streams really well. I have yet to have any problems, but I've only streamed some relatively low bandwidth 4:3 video over wireless.
I stream video to my Xbox 360 using an app called Twonky, It's in the Android Market, nice and easy. Let me know if it works for you.

Even if there was a way to do so, I don't think it would be really worth it. It's like trying to connect to XBL using dial-up; super slow more than anything.
when i use wifi tethering the very few games it lets me join due to strict nat type have bareley any lag especially if its a good host with fast internet. it isnt as slow as dial up as i get 3g signal which is way faster than edge/gprs so if i only got edge/gprs then the speed, would be dial up speed and wouldnt even connect to a game even with open nat type i bet. all i want is an easy way to open the nat type cos i get quite fast internet. also the sound from people talking in party, game chat etc bareley gets crackeled up which you would expect with this connection. someone needs to develop an app to open the nat type and if it has already been done, someone please upload it and post it here.

I don't play gta5 live, but I need an internet connection to save game progress. My smartphone does not have WiFi, it does have Bluetooth and USB tethering. I've searched to see if Xbox 360 has Bluetooth capability. Nothing definitive yet.

This has me scratching my bonce too. I don't have internet at home but have a internal network in the house with wifi switch (for laptops, NAS and streaming media to xbox). The only internet I have is my all-you-can-eat data plan on 3 (UK).
I have easytether which connects laptop flawlessly but should also connect xbox 360 / Wii / ps3 but I get an MTU error on xbox. Annoying as I need to connect to Live! to update console and play a new game (also all my bought games revert to demo mode offline) Anybody got any progress on this?
Has anyone here tried the "MyNet" feature of the tablet to control a computer through your tablet? How do you like it?
I'd like to take advantage of that for websites which stream video but are not compatible with mobile browsers of any kind. It would probably require being on the same wifi network but either way, pretty neat.
BTW, I love my Prime!! Got the issue with gps signal capture but I got my cell phone to direct me if I'm lost in my car.

The app is called splashtop. I believe there are a couple of threads talking about this application. Just to let you know there is a THD version that is up on the market now that works better and faster then the bundled version though it costs money. I am using it now and can connect to my home computer from work and its super fast. I love it. Use it at work all the time during meetings to connect to my desktop. The bundled version will close the connection on you due to a bug in that version. The THD version does not have this issue.
Just my 3 cents.

actually hes talking about the MyNet app that comes with the prime
its not a desktop mirroring tool it just allows streaming of media (pics videos music) to the prime from a pc
its actually pretty cool in how well it does it but it can stream MKVs though
It also allows the downloading of the files from the pc to the prime...its a nice way of moving files without having to plug in or use a sd card or dropbox
i wish it allowed folder downloading or multiple downloading rather than having to do a single file at a time.
Yeah, the MyNet app is a DLNA app for streaming media between DLNA devices. To me it seemed to be a decent proof of concept app, but I have found three apps that do a better job: 2player, BubbleUPnP, and iMediaShare.
iMediaShare can stream from several internet sources to your DLNA devices, but it's unfortunately still not optimized for tablets. It forces you into portrait mode.
For streaming music from my Prime to my blu-ray/stereo, I typically use BubbleUPnP.

Well when you read the op he states talking about controlling your laptop.....was confusing.....i use MovieBrowser UPnP.....just love the way it organizes the movies.......
So Op, sorry for the confusion.
I've used both apps and had good success with them.
I really like the MyNet app though as its a simple program that lets my stream movies/tv shows from my NAS to the TV in my bedroom. No more lugging the laptop up the stairs and clearing a space to put it!

Are you sure you mean the mynet app or do you the splashtop hd remote pc access function in the my cloud app?
From reading your poast I think that you mean teh My desktop feature in the my cloud app which is splashtop HD remote app which links up with a splashtop streamer app on your PC !! and this does not require you to be on the same wifi connection...I often use it to connect to my pc when away from home to check on email accounts etc
I'm sorry, it is the "mycloud" icon on the screen that I meant. From there you find the "my desktop" option which uses splashtop.
i know it is off topic....but i have used PhoneMyPC for years. love it. great app for controlling your various PCs from your android.
Loving mynet, works flawless with all my gizmos. Sitting waiting for someone to start using cornerstone in a rom and i will use it as my main tv interface.

"free"
if you want to do remote desktop in WAN, you need to pay $.99 a month or $9.99 a year for the anywhere module. splashtop 1 doesn't have that limit.
almost a perfect remote desktop though..

Can anyone run this without having to change the settings to compatability mode? Video is jerky but the WebOS version is fine so it's not my host PC.
How many months has this limited time been thusfar? Last I checked a free app can't be converted to a paid app, so they're engaging in deceptive marketing. Anyways its clear they've moved to a freemium/add-ons model

got interested in this App from reading this and another thread, so i did some reading.
from what i could gather from some reviews about Splashtop2 & Splashtop HD , people are saying Splash2 free version works better than the paid version of splash HD.
so today i set up my Win 8 PC with the Streamer and installed Splashtop 2 free version on my Touchpad running the latest Cm9 3/24 nightly, i got to say I'm very impressed how nice and easy everything was to install & start using....basically windows 8 on my TP, was kinda freaky at first with navigation & opening files but i got it....watched a DivX movie with no problems....look forward to learning more, i like this App very much.
This is an app I use daily. When I'm too lazy to get off the couch to turn on my media server, i simply log into splashtop and do it all wirelessly on my desktop computer in the other room!
Its an amazing app and an amazing service. I'm considering the anywhere access feature, as it would be nice to access my Windows 8 desktop anywhere I am.

yes it is amazing, they got me snagged hook line & sinker!
I went and took the plunge and bought the anywhere package for a year, set it up on my laptop, net-book and all 4 of my tablets....works flawlessly on my home wifi.....gonna try it on my mobile hotspot tomorrow, sure hope it works as well thru my PHS300 & 4/g dongle.......wondering how much it will eat on my data plan, guess i'll find out.....have a good one.
Let me know if you are able to stream videos from your home network through your mobile connection.

it did connect thru the mobile, but there were a few times the video's lagged & the audio was out of sync....not as good as my home wifi
home wifi = video & music files (excellent)
mobile connection = video (sometimes lagged & audio out of sync), music files played fine.
overall imo, the mobile connect is NOT reliable for streaming video, yet for music files and accessing host PC was very good......i can live with it hehe, guess i have to for at least 1 yr...maybe my settings are not correct....gonna play with it some more.
Hey everyone.
I am looking for an app that lets me see my pc screen, just like a monitor would. i know there are some other options like splash screen etc but they are all pretty laggy because they all use internet and they video stream my pc so quality is bad too. while quality is secondary for me lag is deffinetly not so even the program needs me to connect my phone and just works like a monitor without input that would be just fine. isnt there a way to do it? i've heard people do it with their tv i couldnt find anything useful despite searcing for two days.
if you could show me an app that lets me do this with good quality like my phone screen have i would be so happy and pay for the application.
sorry if i am using the wrong section of the forum. thanks in advance
try with iDisplay. I dont have a play store link but just search it. You will then be able to use your phone as pc monitor. You can connect to pc via intetnet or through usb cable
