Why is it that everytime i choose a pic out of my photo album to set as a wallpaper it asks me to crop it with a weird looking box. these happen with pics ive taken and also with wallpapers that are meant for the xperia S.
I also have that box with wallpapers for Xperia S (1440x1280)
I think it's just for when you want to use a part of that image, you still can select everything so i don't mind
with 1440x1280 resolutions you better select everything if you want best quality, but with images with higer resolutions for example the images taken with your XPS with higer resolutions you might want to select a part of the image (if you desire) :good:

Can someone please explain how to set a matching resolution image (ie. screenshot) as a wallpaper without having to crop?
Cheers.

Hi Harsh,
Just a follow up on PicSpeed wallpapers... When I use that method, and set an image to full screen, with no crop... After I reboot my phone, the wallpaper image quality has been reduced and I need to reset it to restore the quality.
Have you (or anyone else) / encountered this and do you have a solution?
Thanks again.
Dodol wallpaper maker from play store. That's exactly what you need

Thanks heaps rapier. App works great (maintains wallpaper after reboot).
Cheers.

I personally use multipicture live wallpaper work on my xperi go ics 4.0
just googling "Use Wallpaper without croping image xperia go ics 4.0" for guide

Vibrant display is impressive EXCEPT when I zoom in on photos (taken with a Canon G10) uploaded to phone, and viewed in the stock gallery. There seems to be some degradation in the photo quality when I zoom in or try to use as wallpaper. I notice this on 5mp+ photos. Detail gets very fuzzy on Vibrant screen. Can anyone explain this to me?
It has something to do with the compression they used.. There's a thread about this in the galaxy s forums, look it up.... for wallpaper I use flikie from the market.. I don't use it to download wallpapers, just to set the ones I want from the gallery.. works great...
It's the Gallery Application that was made by Cooliris. You can search the Nexus One forums, they have plenty info on this.

I was a little confused when trying to use a nice photograph as a wallpaper as well until I realized that when I go to set wallpaper, the box you use to select the region of the image to use for the wallpaper is actually resizable. Just drag the corner of that box to make it larger, and the image won't be blurry.
I don't think that this is a problem with the screen or any of the phone hardware, but rather Samsung's software scaling of images.

I am aware that you can adjust the crop for wallpapers... so I guess my issue is more with zooming in on a photo to see more detail and it becoming very blurry.
Thanks for the insight and additional research ideas. I will try flikie as well
************
Update:
Oddly, when I use flikie to set wallpaper it gives message that the wallpaper is set, but its the default twiz "grass blades", not my photo. Annoying. Also no option to choose crop size.
Hope there's better gallery included in updates.
I have a stupid question ... when I try to change the wallpaper a square box appears over the new image I want to use. This is like a crop box or something. It has arrows around the sides of it. I can click it and make the box bigger or smaller, but it will not fit around the entire image ... or any image that I try ... when I hit save wallpaper it cuts the wallpaper and make's it larger than it should be. I dont get it.... I am use to windows were you just hit fit to screen or cover screen and the wallpaper will fill the screen (either shrink or expand) and wont crop or enlarge it. Is there no way to make a picture that is let's say 1280x800 just shrink to fit on the screen without losing any of the picture or zooming way into the picture like it currently does ?
Please help !
THanks
Download wallpaper set and save from the market and use that to set your wallpaper. This will work awesome.

Did you install an alternate launcher? I did and the same thing is happening to me.
Basically when I try to select a wallpaper it's having me crop the image to fit the original B&N home screen. It gives me the same size box to crop to no matter which launcher I try to select the wallpaper in (I've got ADW and Zeam installed to try). When it displays the wallpaper it's zooming into the image to make it fill the much wider margins that the alternate launchers use.

This worked for me. you have to use the nook arrow -> settings -> home -> wallpaper in order for it to look correct. The launcher wallpaper managers are not working correctly.

Jeds right. Go to the original nook home screen and make your wallpaper change there. Btw if you rotate while cropping the pics, they work out very well. I am using the same wallpapers that I use on my droid1. Just copied them over and made a wallpapers folder on the sd card.

Hi!
I'm "trying "to install wallpaper or wallpapers in the Galaxy Tab 10.1vy believe me you do not see any good.
Let me explain: Download the funds that interest you (preferably a native resolution of 1280x800), you go to "Background" / Gallery, select the directory you want and asks you to resize the same fund, which in my NOT I never look good (always cut too).
Do you know it is because of this?
Do you know where are located the original wallpapers on our Tab 10.1v?
(let your wallet).
Thnx!
The problem lies with the fact that the app drawer also has a background that moves. Whenever you press the appdrawer you fly "up" over the wallpaper. So the wallpapers aren't 1280x800 they er more towards 4:3 aspect ratio. There for I advice you to get 1600x1200 wallpapers and cut it with the fact in mind that the wallpaper is somewhere near the bottom of the crop tool
I don't know if wallpaper scrolling can be disabled. You might have a fix for that. Good luck!

Wallpaper sizing issues...
Hi everyone! This is my firt topic so please don't be hard on me if do something wrong. I recently flashed CyanogenMod 9 rom on my Galaxy S2, and I love it. The only thing I cand't seem to figure out is when I try to set a wallpaper, it forces me to crop it. Why can't I just leave it the way it is? Is there another way to set wallpapers without having to crop them? Thank you in advance.
Resize your image before you load it onto your phone if you find the crop is cutting out some of the detail.
The image is 480*800. I don't need to crop it, because it's the exact size. It really starts tu bug me. Why can't I just set it without having to crop it, like before?

I will try that, but I would like someone who uses the same rom to tell me how they do it, without having to use other apps. Why would they make it like this? I don't understand.
I tried Quickpic, and it forces me to crop it too. What am I doing wrong?

then try 'Go launcher' for the same and see
I shouldn't need to use other apps or launchers to do this thing. The fact is I use static wallpaper, not scrolling one (if I would use scrolling wallpaper, it wouldn't be a problem, as it lets me to crop the whole wallpaper), and therefore I downloaded a few wallpapers from xda (480*800) just for this purpose. On the stock rom, it let use the whole wallpaper, without having to crop it. On this rom, it forces me to crop it, and I can't select the whole wallpaper. Sorry for my English, if it doesn't make too much sense, as it isn't my native language.
That's the way the rom works. I also use CM9 & don't have a problem with this 'feature'. I choose wallpapers where I don't need to worry about details being cropped out.
Choose another wallpaper which doesn't crop out the details you want to see. Or use another rom if it's bothering you that much.

After hitting the same problem myself today, I did some fiddling around and I've figured out the reason for this behavior. Trebuchet launcher supports rotating homescreen. As such it requires your wallpaper to have both horizontal and vertical way of being displayed. The native resolution (or better, aspect ratio) that will allow you to select whole height of the image for CM9 wallpaper is 960x800 (or 6:5 ratio). I'm not quite sure why it can't be just 800*800 (maybe some limitation for when you have scrolling wallpaper enabled ), but that's the way it is.
Hope this makes things clear.
Here is your solution I hope
Download picspeed wallpapers and then install like a normal app. After that find the pic you want and try again. New options to choose size are available with your standard romantic or you can use the app. After I installed the app I unistalled the app and still was able to use the features but you may need to leave app installed
hey DX community
Does anyone know a program like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sanjn.twcrop but for hTC...that make possible to crop a bigger area of all images ?
Maybe this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shirobakama.wallpaper&hl=en
Sometime I use this but most of the time I use the PicSpeed Wallpapers "Set As Wallpaper" feature.
