Hey everybody can someone please tell me how to change the background in the sms app.
I'm asking for a friend and I don't have the phone with me to pay with to help him so I have no idea.
Thanks all
Open the sms app, settings, background style, the different backgrounds available show at the bottom, you can scroll all the way to the right and click on the last one (black square with + in it) to pick a background from your files or take a picture
Edit: rephrased slightly better

This is just sorta a little tip that i found...its not completely black...but close to it
1. Go into settings, and display
2. Make sure the display mode is set to standard
3. Uncheck the box that says analyze LCD brightness.
Thats it...colors should be more dark now and the status bar is not that annoying gray!!!
Aaarrgghhh my eyes!
The grey background of the settings window got so bright when I unchecked the box, it actually hurt my eyes.
I had a tf101 before the tab and I actually prefer the look of the touchwiz stuff to stock HC, but I might just be weird...

Yeah then you won't get market updates....then that turn into more problems where the market becomes unusable...its fine until the market apk has an update...trust me...might want to go back to 160.
Hi all,
Which is the easier method to change the dpi to 218?I use cm-10

Why would you want to change the DPI? What's the benefit/reason?

It makes everything essentially smaller/bigger depending on what you set it to. Usually people set it lower so that everything shrinks and you can fit more on your screen. Paranoidandroid actually has per app DPI i believe so that you can change different apps such as email/gmail so that instead of the screen you see on your phone, you can make it look like a tablet with the menus on one side with the mail on the other.

I am on Samsung ROM: 4.0.4 xxlpx. I changed the DPI and the icons look good, but the issue is that the icons does not seem take the advantage of complete screen. so the space on the bottom and right is left unused not sure if there is any way to have the complete screen size to be utilized.
Find attached pic, and as you can see the right hand space is unused and also the page number that shows up, that the end of the usable space.(marked in Red)
Any thoughts on how to make that extra space available ?
Thanks

Try a different launcher. With nova or apex you can choose how many rows of apps you can have. (not sure you can do that with the stock one)

I'm looking for an app can capture does on your screen to use for later use. Example: if I wanted my status bar to match my background the app would allow me to click or highlight the background to get the specific for to use for the status bar. Any ideas anyone?

For clarity-i attached a screen shot of my home page, are you asking if there's an app that fills in the black strip that is the status bar. You want the status bar to be the same as said back ground?
Sent from my Samsung-SGH-I717 using xda premium
No that's not what I mean. For instance if I wanted my status bar to be the same color as one of your icons on your home screen how could I get the exact color for that?

Yea I don't know. I did do some googleing around for my own pleasure and I came up with a few old xda links. The links talked about changing status color but it was in frame work etc...way out of my league. I also looked thru play store and came up empty.
Sent from my Samsung-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I do not know if this will help but there is an app called super status bar, not sure if it is still on the market but I believe that it is, and you can have your status bar look however you'd like. As far as having it the specific color of something else, you may just have to play around with colors as I've never heard of (but does not mean it does not exist) a program that can copy a color based off of a picture or background. Hope that helps. Best wishes
I want to be able to copy something on my screen using the S Penn, you know like when you draw a circle around something and it copies to your clipboard. And then I want to paste it into my message my gmail app . This possible? Sorry for the poor grammar the voice to text is not working too well right now.

Haven't really tried it much yet but I press the s-pen button and hold it, circle the object and it copy's to clipboard in gallery under screenshots. I can find it in the gallery and when long pressing the image I can choose the messaging, gmail etc. icon and send it in text, or while in text I can tap the paperclip and find it in gallery.
Hope that makes sense and I didn't read your question wrong.
Happy Holidays
That helps, thanks for that. In gmail on the PC you can just do ctrl v while you are typing your message and it will show the image in the message Instead of down below as an attachment. Any way to do that? If not, no big deal.

Haven't had mine hooked up yet to the PC since mine is a dinosaur (PC that is!)
I doubt the N2 will allow you to do the same as on your PC, but if it can I'm sure someone will chime in. Still should show though as the actual pic instead of an attachment that you have to open on the N2
Peace!!
Now she's at work with her new phone and I'm at work with my old Note 2 so I'm of no help. From my Sensations days I asked her to pinch to zoom to bring up home screen preview and rearrange them there but she said that is no good. The little screen to add another home screen page she says she can drag the home screens around but can't rearrange them. Is there any special trick to rearranging the home screens on the HTC One?
I have the same problem. I've been told that it can't be done with Sense 5.

You've officially made my wife mad... lol.
What I did is add a panel, pick which one I wanted as my home screen, picked it, then populated the screens as I wanted. Not difficult.

Which is downright stupid and confusing. Maybe I've been using Nexus devices for too long but I never had a learning curve on Android til I got this phone. (I love it but some things just seem like they were not very thought out.)

I can help. Just open the app drawer, long press on the app you want to remove. Drag it up and it will load back in the drawer leaving a blank space. Then drag the app you want to replace down to the blank space on the dock.

Let me try again once my wife is home, we were trying to do that but every time we drag a app out the same app appear on the drawer again so was not sure if there is any other way to get this done.
I will report back after trying it again

If that doesn't work for you, drag the other app down to the app you want to replace and it'll make a folder on your dock. Then just remove the app you want gone. Either way, it's more steps than it should be but you'll get the result you want!

Is there anything else that can be done ?

You might want to retry or do a master reset if none of what we've said is working. I'm including a screenshot of me dragging a random app (Facebook) to my dock to make a folder.

No. You dont drag it TO the drawer. You drag it FROM the drawer TO the taskbar. After, of course, dragging the icon you want to replace FROM the task bar TO the drawer.

It makes sense to me. What didnt make sense on my S2 was to first create a shortcut on a homescreen panel and then drag it to the bottom task bar. Thats two steps. With the One, its one step. From the drawer to the taskbar.
Thank You for these tips. I have been trying to figure this out. I will admit some of these things are strange coming from the Nexus 4 but I can deal with them for this awesome phone.
So when I drag it as per the screenshot. It does add the app to the drawer but then you can not remove either of the apps and this thing is pissing me how
Dont understand why something this simple can be made so difficult by HTC

I've got a few more screenshots that will hopefully help from here. Once you've created the folder, click on it to where it brings the two apps up. Then long press the app you wish to remove and drag it to the drawer.
