Easy way to connect your PS3 controller to your Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I posted this in the accessories section, but I saw that this is the forum for the tips and tricks, so I am reposting it here, I do not meant to offend, simply to educate.
If your like me, and you can't afford any of the little gizmos that let you plug a USB into your Prime, or you don't want to root it or do anything complicated like that, you just want to play Shadowgun THD with a gosh darn controller...well if thats you, then I got some good news for you.
Do you have a Best Buy near you? If so go in, bring your pad, bring your SONY MADE PS3 controller (I hear it needs to be the actual one from Sony, can't be a Madcatz or any third party brand), and the USB cable, ask where the dock is, or find it yourself, hook up your pad, and plug it all in.
You just need to turn on your Primes Bluetooth, and plug it in the dock, then plug in the USB and hold the PS button, and BOOM, your good to go. I literally just did this.
If you don't have a Best Buy near you, try Staples, Office Depot, Radioshack, Target, Walmart, find a place that has the dock on display. Chances are they dont care. If they do, ask for the manager, or just go to a different store.
I hope this helped out all my fellow Tablet Gamers, have a great day! :highfive:

You can use Sixaxis Controller on Playstore for 2 bucks. It has a free app to test compatibility before you shell out the 2 bucks.

But that costs money. My method is free (minus gas cost) and hooks up your controller and tablet via Bluetooth without having to root or change Mac address, or download and pay for an app. :highfive: :good:

why did you make two post with same topic?

Hmm, given that I root my devices by default, it totally passed my mind that you need root for that app to work. But I suppose people willing to hook up a PS3 controller will be the kind who root anyway. I know it is $2, but that is a cheaper than the abysmal liquid that passes for coffee at Coffeebucks. Plus, you can do the same with your phones and other Android devices once you buy the app... No multiple trips to Bestbuy. Anyway, it is a good option for those with a dock, I must say! Nice hack you found there!

I think it'd cost the majority of people more in fuel costs then the 2 for the app.

Still cheaper than the $125 keyboard dock, or the other $35 USB attachment. Either way you look at it's you need a USB cable to connect the controller. This way you don't need to do anything to your tablet other than remove the rubber stoppers on either side of the charger plug in.

geez people. OP, thank you very much for your post on an alternate method that may be viable to some people. Your contribution is appreciated.

[Q] PS3 Jailbreak on HD2?

hi.
I just wanna know if someone here had see something about the ps3 jailbreak usb with the HD2?
It s running on some android phones, Iphone, nokia... but nothing for Windows phone?
But i found a list on psFreedom.com. there s a Device compatibility list. And in this list There s the HTC HD2 (Android) : in progress!!!
It will be very nice if the PsFreedom works without android... A windows phone hacks a sony PS3.
...
wait n see...
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8032122&postcount=791
In Progress
In short for HD2: In Progress (But need android for it to run)
can someone please enlighten me as to what the hell this is all about....
I know what the ps3 jailbreak does but what relevance does that have to the hd2 or any other device...............much confusion.........surely we're not talkin about emulation are we
There is now a way to play backed up ps3 games and people are developing ways to do it on different devices. See here for more detail psx-scene.com the htc desire is one of the lastest devices that can do it

and whats wrong with a medium capacity usb flash drive that can be picked up from many good online retailers for less then £5? Why on earth would you want to put your phone anywhere near your ps3? considering that sony will be working on a way to stop the "jailbreak" (what a stupid term anyway. It's a proper hack, done the good ol' fashioned way). You should think yourselves lucky. I remember when if you wanted to play your illegally downloaded games on an xbox or psx you had to get the soldering irons, spend a lot of money on addon chips and hope you had a steady enough hand not to brick your £300 games console but that's what you going to do isn't it? playing illegally downloaded games - probably on your mates ps3 - and your too cheap to buy a usb flash drive and would rather risk letting sony find a way to brick your phone for having the hack saved on it.
Young Sir, you are very foolish. Firstly, you are actually breaking forum rules and secondly your gonna risk your very expensive, frankly awesome smartphone on what i can only describe as a folly.
I will leave you with this thought, though. If you are intent on breaking the law, spend some money on a proper gaming spec pc. At least then no one will be able to make it stop working just because you did what YOU wanted to do with it, instead of doing what the manufacturer wants you to do with it and plus, i'm sure mommy won't mind
this exploit is very interesting for the homebrews, the développement of app... Like the PSP, I buy games but i prefere custom firmware. With him i can do more than a psp with official firmware...
And "secondly your gonna risk your very expensive, frankly awesome smartphone on what i can only describe as a folly." When you do a hspl and whan you flash your phone and you install a new rom... it s not a folly?
sorry for my english...
lol im getting more and more confused now.......
I cant tell whether people are claiming they can emulate the ps3 on the hd2........
(which seems pretty bloody unlikely to me)
Or simply use the hd2 instead of a flash drive to store this alleged "jailbreak" and deploy it to the ps3......
If its the second one............ why the hell would you not just use a flash drive..??
Im not getting into the issues around whether its right to hack your ps3 or not...
Although I certainly wont be risking bricking mine...........
I remember back in the "good old days" of soldering irons..... it was called chipping...... makes me feel old........... and confused
I'll be pissing myself and eating through a tube before long...........
At least I'll have a working phone and ps3 though..
lol! i love it when i'm right!

So people just want to dl this "jailbreak" onto their hd2 to save on the price of a 4.99 usb stick
Oh well..... get ready for a flood of....... psgroove bricked my hd2 HELP!!!!! type threads......
Safety first Kiddies.........
Just to clarify. The link i posted is confirmation that as of right now the hacks will not work at all if you update your ps3 with the latest security patch and i'm willing to bet a lot of people have blindly done it already, and rightly so, but i do sincerley suspect that is only the first step and there *may* just be a further update that *may* cause data loss or damage to any flash based device that is plugged into the ps3. TBH i really won't put it passed sony to do something like that in an attempt to protect their intellectual property.
Its fair enough as far as im concerned......... you hack it, you risk it.....
the ps3 hasnt exactly been sony's most profitable product so they're bound to try and protect it by any means possible..........
Thanks for clearing that up for me man......

No worries. I've been chuckling my way round the office since i saw that. Lucky prediction or what?
To the OP,
Flashing my phone with a new boot loader and a microsoft approved operating system is by no means a folly as it is reversible. Sony bricking your top of the line smartphone because you broke their terms and conditions, the law - in pretty much every developed country there is - is very much a folly.
To be sure you understand, folly means the following:
A lack of good sense, understanding, or foresight.
An act or instance of foolishness: regretted the follies of his youth.
A costly undertaking having an absurd or ruinous outcome.
Sorry if that seemed condesending but i'm just trying to make sure you get my point. I would say it's not worth the risk (oh, wait, i did) but now it's impossible so the thread is dead
hmmm. If i posted this question here, it s to know if someone here s working on this exploit. it s a challenge... a lot s of good devs do it on Iphone, Android phone, texas instrument, nokia phone, palm phone...
With this exploit we will don t brik a ps3 or a phone or a phone... maybe we can have our psn acount banned... So it s our problem. ^^
hack digitals gadget isn t to have free games... it s for have MORE possibilitys!
homebrews, movies on MKV, retrocompatibility.... etc etc...
If i do a ps3 jailbreak, i assum it... I m an adult, and a father too. ^^
I just tried to know, why the others scenes (iphone, android, symbian...) are more exciting about this...
Sorry if that seemed condesending but i'm just trying to make sure you get my point. I would say it's worth the risk . but now it's always possible. My ps3 is always on the last firmware...

I'm a little confused about this jailbreak thing for the PS3.
Once I jailbreak the PS3 using the HD2 do I ever have to connect it to the PS3 again?

Yes breaking the law is not a very good or acceptable thing to do and I advice against it. But at the same time a company intentionally damaging someone private property is not acceptable at all and should be looked down on in the same manner.
I know it is a old thread but just had to say that.

[Q] APK to use WIRED game pad

hey guys, i recently got a micro USB to full size adapter in hopes that i could run a generic game pad or flash drive to my DX2.. i understand the phone doesnt openly support OTG mode, but is there any way a ROM could potentially enable this for us? maybe by porting over (so to speak) the technology used in 3.1 which allows game pads?
1.) i am aware this question has been asked before (albeit, only a few times), i just want more awareness for this as i know of a lot of people who would find this feature to be most enjoyable.
2.) i know we can use a wiimote, but there are a lot of people out there who dont have a Wii and dont want to buy a wiimote that they can only use on their phone. This would enable everyone with a PS3/wired xbox controller/generic game pad/usb keyboard (a much larger percentage of people than the wiimote alone) to fully enjoy emulators on their phone.
if any devs are reading this, become a God in the android community and get us wired gamepad support! or if anyone else feels like i do, sound off and help get this feature recognized
That would be very nice. I happen to have a usb hub for ps2 controllers.

Car Dock Plus Development

Ok I have a question... Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong area. Here is the pitch: I have been looking forward to this phone for a long time (as most of you) I have been interested for a few years in developing an on the go platform for mobile entertainment. What I mean is just something I can use in my car to listen to music or watch movies. I know there are many things that exist that allow me to do this but I'm looking to develop a more all in one truly mobile solution and the Note might be the best option.
Without boring everyone with too much details- I'm hoping the Note comes with NFC for starters but does anyone know- will the usb host adapter allow the Note to charge and possibly use an external hard drive at the same time?
I'm in the R&D stages now for a car dock with software that will allow Note to just slide in and go similar to the newer mobile infotainment systems that are starting to show up in cars now but this will be truly mobile.

Omgosh what a great idea! Hooking up an externel hard drive may work, because you can plug flash drives into tablets and they work just fine. Hope your plan works, because if iit does ill be installing it on my stang
You posted this in an unrelated thread, so I moved it to its own thread. Your plan sounds great, I hope you can make it happen, I'd like a nice car dock for my future Note
Thanks for your interest guys! I will post some more info as the design begins testing.
As of now I'm using my Captivate for a front end... it kinda works but there's a lot of manual interaction which I'm hoping with the Note I can move away from. If this works out I can move to actually producing a full mobile infotainment solution.
I'm curious though... This project started out with just a personal want to make my long drives a little more comfortable. It has now turned in to something that I actually depend on and almost need. Do you guys think there is an actual need for something like this? Maybe this could be a start for a whole new "something" platform.

Personal need and an idea of how to fulfill it is how many great products come around. I really wish I had a decent dock for my Captivate (that's what I've got, too), but none exist - and I have looked. Go for it. See where it takes you. Might make you some nice coin, and make others happy in the process!

You heard it here first... Should have some renderings soon-ish. I'm a software designer that works mostly in MS technologies so this is a new avenue but with all the support on XDA it shouldn't be too hard.

Based on how the Galaxy Tab works the answer is no, you can't use the USB drive and charge at the same time. You will need to build a custom cable.

Thanks! I'm hoping that I won't have to mess with the kernel too much... Most of what I need is already open in the OS (I hope) and I will most likely have the hardware completed before the software pieces. As long as my wife doesn't kill me first for spending too much time in the shop.

What's most needed i feel are the development of physical buttons to control the tablet/phone while driving. I envision using something like a bt version of devices like carpc joycon ex (basically a small device that turns your steering wheel buttons into a usb keyboard), or using modified bt headset buttons.

Nice setup! That is exactly what I'm looking for. The physical buttons are something that also crossed my mind. I will check out the joycon. I think with the USB host it will be a lot easier now. I do frequent mp3car.com they have helped with a couple carpc's I have built for friends and my own XBMC in my WRX I still use to play games while sitting in my car. This is the first time I'm traveling down the android path and I think it's going to be a better experience all around.
Thanks.
Now I think the note would be way more appropriate for my other car - the 8.9 is more fitting to a truck really.
Keep us posted!

I'm gonna try using a Seagate goflex satellite hard drive as a media center for my note in my car. It's 500gb and produces a Wi-Fi signal that the phone hooks onto, you then use the Seagate app to access all the hard drives music and movies. I plan to hardwire the hard drive into my cars power along with a micro charger to plug into the Samsung note car dock. I'll let everyone know how the hard drive works out. It could be an option for your project too, although the hard drive is rather pricy.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Yeah, I have considered that, but I've seen less than stellar reviews on Amazon and I balked. Price is not a concern, as long as it works. The reviews stated that the interface was very poor and buggy. No playlists, no thumbnails, no folder support, IIRC.
Seagate, like Samsung, is not known for writing sleak software. So the fact that I must depend on their updates (will it work with ICS? Will it work in Landscape mode? etc.) is a concern. They should release their APIs at least, or source code.
I'd rather something like a NAS DLNA server. With DLNA, I can choose a bunch of compatible apps, I believe.
Also, about the Seagate's wifi connection, is is ad-hoc? Would it prevent the tablet from accessing the Internet? I suspect not, if you're using the note, but if you're using a tablet tethered to the phone...then this wouldn't work.
I have seen a couple lack luster reviews on the satellite but my friend is offering it to me for $75 because he never uses it anymore so I figured I would give it a shot. If it doesn't do what I need it to in the car I will either just use it for my tablet in home or sell it as Im sure I could recoup at least $75 from a $200 hard drive
Great, please report back your findings.

My main curiosity is what most people use it for, as each person finds different value in different items....
I know what it is for and I'm enjoying using it in my own fashion. The main reason I bought it, so you will know, is because I found it for $50 bucks and it will increase the value of my Atrix 4g as a package, if & and when I go to sell it, should I ever find a phone I like more.
Also,Congrats on your new bicycle as well. I hope it serves you well. Just wait until you take the training wheels off! You'll be REALLY happy.
Thanks, I'm really happy with it! It has streamers on the handles!
I bought the lapdock in a deal also, but unfortunately mine is off to Motorola as there was something wrong with it when I received it. I think the lapdock will change somewhat in functionality once Webtop 3.0 becomes available to us. It should have more of a "laptop" functionality at that point I think.
I used it for very little until I installed webtop2sd, and turned it into a very serviceable portable connected computer. I have replaced my current laptop with the lapdock, and have been quite happy using Openoffice, and PDF reader. Professionally, I now have used it in court 3-4 times to hold reference materials (instead of printing volumes of online records), and I do email with it. I have also heard that it is very functional in a remote desktop setting, but aside from testing this, I have not pursued it.
The one issue that I have is installing firefox extensions. My lack of linux knowledge is holding me back, and I would like to be able to read .tif files from within the browser, but as of now cannot. Other than this, I think it is safe to consider this as functional as a regular (lower end) laptop.
Again, I cannot reiterate how much more useful webtop2sd makes this device. Who knows what the ICS update will bring?
Meh, id rather have an actual linux distro than android on a screen: Ubuntu is made for a mouse and keyboard, android, and specifically the apps for it, are made for touchscreens that our lapdocks do not have, so i dont see it translating well.

[Answered] LG G5 Supported Gamepad/s No Root

I know, so close to launch, it's difficult finding reviews and threads on support of third party accessories etc. My question is, "Has anyone successfully paired a Gamepad (wired or wireless) to the LG G5? If so, what was your method?"
I have had bad luck with rooting and bricking devices in the past, so I've avoided methods involving root access (regardless of whether rooting is available this early on).
My first attempt was with a Dualshock PS3 DS3 controller and an otg cable. Red lights blinked continuously, but no response. My second attempt was with a PS4 controller. Slightly better success. I was able to pair this wirelessly without root (holding PlayStation and share button momentarily). The result was a successful pair, but no UI response, much less any success on emulated games. It should be noted I did not get any response with an otg cable here as well.
I also tried these methods with a variety of Google Play apps, with similar results, as well as a Wii Remote (was grasping at straws at this point).
UPDATE: I purchased a Sminiker Bluetooth Gamepad and should receive it tomorrow to test with the LG G5. I chose the Sminiker Gamepad because it was the closest to PS controller I could get with Android OS support.
UPDATE: I have confirmation of the Sminiker Bluetooth Gamepad working successfully on an unrooted LG G5 : tested on PPSSPP, FPse, and MegaN64 emulators.
Still No Success

Spent the better part of last night and today working with bluetooth apps and settings to try and get any response from my gamepads. Still no success. Considering buying Android gamepad. Any suggestions? I've heard of Moga and a few others based on my research trying to successfully pair what I already own.
I wouldn't call this thread solved, no one in here has reported trying Xbox 360 or One controllers yet with OTG

I asked the question as the OP. I answered my question. Hence "Solved" lol. But feel free to start another thread regarding specific gamepads.
"We've all done things we regret. It's how you respond that defines who you are."

The question-->"Has anyone successfully paired a gamepad (wired or wireless) to the LG G5? If so, what was your method?"
The answer---->"Yes"

It's your thread. I just felt the spirit of the question was not "does buying an Android specific Bluetooth controller make you not need to leave a thread open for others to report if their commonly owned game system controllers work or not?"
Do your thing, I'm sure we'll figure it out elsewhere

That's why I put [solved], as in, "the original question has been answered, but feel free to comment and add more info on other supported devices, gamepads, emulators, etc."
Had this been your thread, how would you have handled it?
"We've all done things we regret. It's how you respond that defines who you are."
I guess I'm just nitpicking cuz I assume people aren't going to contribute to a thread marked solved. I can see your perspective. Hope I didn't come off too annoying.

Not at all. I'm still new to this site, so its possible I expected too much from the get go. Other forums I am in, I don't have to worry about others adding in after a thread is solved.

"Answered" instead of "solved" then? Lol

Duly noted. I see where he was coming from.
"We've all done things we regret. It's how you respond that defines who you are."
Hopefully that settles the dispute ?. All the best getting a solution.

June last post, doubt it bro.
Sent from my LGE LG-H830 using XDA Labs
I use a nes30 pro controller, work like a charm works with and without root on different modes. May not be the type of controllers that you guys are looking for thou.
LG G5 controller question. Using MOGO Universal Driver.
1. My LG G5 has the MOGO Pro controller. It connects fine to the official bluetooth driver, but that only allows you to use the controller with MOGO games. This is incredibly stupid for MOGO to basically say only their game library matters. So I installed the official MOGO Universal Driver which of course does not find the controller at all. I don't know why, it doesn't even try, it just says there are no bluetooth devices. So...I'm out in the cold, I can't use this mogo universal driver and the official mogo games are garbage from the 90's.
2. XDA is a piece of garbage website when it comes to updating a password. I've tried for 15 minutes and when I fill in a new password it thinks I'm trying to log in and says "you have reached login attempt 4 of 5" then blocks me out. LAME. And then when it let's me log in using the password it automatically set and sent me TEN MINUTES LATER, it gives another error and wipes out what I had been typing: "Your submission could not be processed because you have logged in since the previous page was loaded."
Piece of trash website isn't making it possible for new users to get anything done, and it keeps redirecting to its home page instead of this forum. If anyone at XDA reads this, GET YOUR WEBSITE IN ORDER. /rant
