[Q] AOKP lock screen (honeycomb/slide to unlock) not showing up - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So I recently rooted my phone and now I currently have AOKP ROM with Fluxi kernel. When I had first gotten AOKP on my phone the lock screen worked fine and I really liked the different things you could do to customize it. However, for some reason my lock screen never shows up anymore? If I push the power button or my screen times out and I press the power button, the screen comes right back on to what I had been doing when the screen turned off/I hit the power button, so that there's no lock screen at all now. Is there a way to fix this? And yes, I've searched these forums and Google trying to be the least noobish I can be

My guess is that you've inadvertently set your screen lock to "none" instead of "slide" or whatever it is you want. Should be under settings/security/screen lock. . .or something to that effect.

I would first try wiping cache and dalvik cache in CWN and try to fix permissions. Also make sure to check your lockscreen settings.

Are you saying the lock screen never comes on or only if you hit power button off on? Make sure you didn't check "Wait to lock screen" in menu / system settings / ROM control / Lock screen options.... GL

So. It's not a Rom problem. It's something on your end. Either setting, or you need to do a clean install. However I'm assuming u did do a full wipe including system and data before posting this, as this is common knowledge.

@xhepera
Well I know that I can do that, but then I have no secure unlock. What I want is that the screen actually locks so that I have to put in my pattern after say 2mins and the rest of the time have the slide to unlock. Thanks anyways
@snipe2nite
Yes, I've already looked into that too and that's not the problem sadly. My problem is that my slide to unlock screen never comes on at all when it should after the screen goes off for a short amount of time before my secure unlock screen kicks in. Thanks for the answer though!
@Phalanx7621
Yaaaa... I didn't. I'm extremely new to this, but ya, I should of done that anyways, pretty stupid of me not to. Thanks for educating me lol, I'll see what happens.
@jt.61
I'm going to try that too, I saw something about that somewhere else for a different phone and it was from a long time ago, thanks
It wouldn't let me quote you guys cuz I haven't done 10 posts yet :/ sorry

Have you checked your lockscreen settings in the ROM Control? There's a setting in there to "show standard lockscreen before secure unlock." Sorry if that's not what you need. I guess at this point I'm not really sure what it is you're after, as your original post didn't mention secure lock, just the slide-to-unlock element.

First of all, what is your "secure unlock screen"?
Also, a short amount of time? How shorts? 5 seconds? 10 seconds or 10 minutes?
Say, after "a short amount of time", say 5 minutes, do you get the unlock screen that looks like what Phalanx has posted above?
If yes, then you should already have the unlock screen working correctly and snipe2nite already gave you a hint. Check that option out.
If you set for 1 minute then during that 1 minute (from the screen goes off to secure unlock screen kicks in), it WON'T lock, yes, if you press the power button again, it brings right up.

Yea, thats your problem. Amazed your still getting replies from others. Learn what your doing, do some searching. This thread is pointless.
And thats my nice comment.

@xhepera
What I want is so that when my screen turns off (after time out or when I press the power button) and when I turn it back on (before the 2 minutes that's needed for the screen to actually lock and I have to enter my code or pattern) there is a slide to unlock feature that I can use to get to a couple of different apps, like the screen that Phalanx posted. I could do this before, like after timeout it would go straight to slide to unlock then after 2 minutes of the screen being off I would have to do my pattern.
@votinh
What I meant by secure unlock is when the phone requires a code to unlock like a pattern, etc. And by short amount of time I mean 1 second to 2 minutes (or 5 mins, or whatever I set as my screen lock time) As I said before, it worked in the past so that if the screen went off and I turned it back on within those 2 mins, there would be a slide to unlock screen like Phalanx's picture. Now it just goes straight back to what I was doing
Thanks both of you for your patience lol I feel like a little kid trying to explain this to people
I'm currently re flashing the ROM and gapps after factory reset and cache wipe.. hope it works and stays

Have you checked the "Show lockscreen before unlock" option?

Yes, I had messed around with that and thought it was a silly feature because all it had done before I had cleared and reflashed my phone was put the honeycomb/slide to unlock feature right before my actual secure unlock so I had to do both to unlock my phone...
EDIT: It still does that???? It seemed like it was doing the right thing just a second ago... Nevermind then... I guess it's not even a feature to have slide to unlock THEN secure unlock after 2 mins????

Try holding the power button down for like 10-15 seconds, then press it again and see if it starts. When I first got the device that happened to me a few times. Hasn't happened since the 2.0.71 update, but that was the fix. The 10-15 second power button hold basically does a "cold boot" like on a PC that is locked up.

If the cold boot did not work you are rather stuck. Have you considered contacting Archos for support?

Im from the philippines, bought this from Hongkong.... I'll try calling them...
Latest update...
If I put some light like a flash light on the screen I can see a some of the deskstop... so its like the device has no light inside..
Even in the Archos startuplogo no light, but I can see it using a flash light.
Okay, so basically you are in a "no warranty" situation (unless this Hong Kong site will allow you to return it for replacement). The problem you are describing does not sound like a software issue. This seems to be a hardware problem.
You might want to find some kind of "tear apart" diagram for the 101 like http://www.theandroidphone.com/tag/how-to-disassemble-the-archos-101/
Perhaps you will get lucky and it will just be a loose connection or something simple like that. Otherwise you will need to get a new display...which is nearly as expensive as the unit itself. If that is the case, seriously...just wait a few more months and get one of the new Honeycomb tablets.
i had a similar problems some weeks ago with my 101 (was running an older firmware when it happened though)
for me those steps helped, i found them somewhere on the archosfans forums:
- remove sd card if you are using one
- hold down power button for 10 to 15 seconds
- release power button
- tap the power button 5 times
- archos will boot now if everything worked out
hope this helps

Sounds like you turned the back light off. Some widgets have the ability to turn it off and not just down. Have you checked the settings for the back light to make sure it is on?

Touchscreen Issues

Anyone else having any problems with the touchscreen? I noticed the phone was very very accurate when texting among other things (coming from the EVO 4G) and I thought something was up the past few days because my autocorrect was stepping in a lot more than usual even thought I thought I was hitting the right keys.
Now, when I'm at the pattern lock screen, I can draw my pattern as many times as I want and it never draws the pattern I draw. I will drag an entire line and it will either show I'm touching the first or the last dot. And on the home screen, I'll swipe and it won't move (kinda rebounds back to the page I was on) or it thinks I'm pinching the screen.
Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and had to return it yet?
I'm having problems where I can't use my screen from time to time. It seems to stick. The only way to get back to my screen working is by turning my phone screen off. This is starting to become an issue. Especially when I am in the middle of a message or email.
Sent from my great Evo3D.
Is it certain keys don't work? Actually noticed that in landscape mode, my palm was touching the corner of the screen rendering some key strokes unrecognizable. Seems to have a more sensitive screen.

The phone thinks It's being touched around the Y and G keys. I went to enter my gmail account info since I got locked out and it kept pressing those keys. Really annoying.
I'm having same problem and its annoying me allot .. I'm not sure if its the screen or a bug .. but there is times my screen is not responsive.. I've thought of bringing it in.

I'm having this problem right now. My phone seems to be hitting keys by itself(like continuously going back to the previous screen) and my lockscreen pattern only registers one hit even though i'm moving to more than one dot at a time. I just rebooted and it's still doing this. It's randomly doing this over the past 2 days though.
There is times that ill do the pattern 3 or 4 times and it will reset itself.. or ill have to wait 30 seconds after i have repeatedly done the pattern.. It has been doing it since I had the phone.. its irritating as hell.. not sure if its a phone issue or screen issue ... But I'm sure Sprint will make something up and just so a reset..

it's not certain keys, no difference whether in landscape or not. It's become a major issue. I haven't used the lock screen because I have problems so often with the regular screen. Just really frustrating.

Bone stock here. The problem comes and goes randomly. Had the problem half hour ago, just left it alone for awhile, and now it seems to be normal again.
I've never thought I had very good luck, but when I come to these forums and read the problems so many of you guys have with your phones, I think I do. I've never had an issue with any of my Android phones. I wonder if its because I hardly download any apps. I mainly use it for browsing the net, text and phone calls. Just weird.
Any of you guys with this problem notice that it happens more when attached to USB? I just realized that the past 2 or 3 times I have the touchscreen issue that I also had the 3D charging on via USB on my computer.

Yeah, seems like most phones act weird when plugged in. Still having lockscreen issues, really REALLY annoying!
Mine has been having a ton of issues starting this last weekend. Sometimes it seems to have a mind of it's own and keys just start getting pressed. Other times it won't process touches. Most of the time the App drawer and personalization launchers at the bottom of the sense skin won't work. Thought I had it fixed last night by clearing a bunch of program data, but came back today. Seems to be a hardware issue. Probably take it back in. Really upset as this is my third one so far. Have done multiple hard resets to try to clear it.
I was able to catch this happening in the "MultiTouch Visualizer" app, and took some screenshots of it. These screenshots show what appears to be 2 separate issues, but they seem to be closely related.
In this one, I'm actually touching in the center of the two touch points (i.e., where the blue circle appears), but there it seems to have some kind of "gap" in the sensor, where it thinks that my one touch is actually two. It always occurs at that horizontal location -- basically along the blue horizontal line.

If I move my finger up, it goes back to one pointer:
and likewise if I drag down, below that problem region:
But when crossing that region of the touchscreen, it gets interrupted and thinks there are 2 touch events. That's what makes it difficult or impossible to unlock when the problem is occurring.
The 2nd issue is that after a while of testing, it actually ended up "sticking" where it was registering two touch events at the bottom center, even though I am not touching the screen:
and this is what happened when I did touch the screen (pointer "1" is where I was actually touching, but pointers 2 and 3 were still registering, so it thought I was touching the screen in 3 places):
The problems seem to come up about 2 or 3 times a day. Usually at the worst possible moment -- there was one time I was trying to snooze the alarm, and somehow it ended up tapping that center location on its own several times... First tap opened the Phone app (the center button on the Sense home screen) to the call log. Second tap registered on the green "Call" button, so it ended up redialing the last number I called. I panicked and tried to end the call by tapping several times on the End Call button, but it wouldn't register at all... I tried home, back, opening the notification bar, etc, and nothing was responding. Eventually the call ended after going to their voicemail, but then it tapped the green "Call" button again, and called them again!
I'm probably going to have the same issue trying to replace it, because it doesn't happen all the time.

I've had this issue I can recreate it, I returned my first 3d and noticed the second one did the same thing. I think its a kernel issue because the cooked kernels don't have this problem. And this seems to happen after rooting the phone using the temp root method.
It has something to do with the multi touch.
Ill take the draw app, draw a line and at the same time touch a different part of the screen, the line im drawing will now look like this __ __ __ __ all broken like that. This has happened on two 3d's now. So when your keyboard is suddenly becomes non responsive, this is probably what's going on. The problem will fix itself in about five seconds or so and operate normally again. I thought about making a video of it.
I made a cool YouTube video of the problem:

I had this exact thing happen to me yesterday. It called someone I really didn't want to talk to, and I kept trying to hang the freakin phone up. It went to their voice mail and I am yelling at the phone to shut off at this point, and I finally just ripped the battery out... Probably was a funny voicemail for the person.. ugh..
I get touchscreen issues but it only seems to be when I just washed my hands and they are still ever so slightly wet. Thats when the screen gets super stuck and I have all sorts of issues. And I would never use my phone with "wet" hands, this is like after I used a paper towel and I didn't even think they were wet, wet lol..
It happens often enough to be annoying, but not so often that each time it does it I am still confused as to wtf is going on.
Mine has had random times where most of the touch screen wont work since day one, happens every couple of days, usually have to reboot for it to work again

Initial Issues with Evo LTE

I received the phone yesterday night and have been using it heavily since then. My intention is not to be a hater, but rather to see if anyone is having these issues. I'm coming from a Sprint GS2 and have not had any of the issues below...dare I say it was smoother in everyday operation?
1. When on lockscreen and accessing settings - lag/slow/studder
2. After initial phone unlock, scroll left/right and lag/studder
3. After initial phone unlock, opening app drawer takes about .5-1 sec to open. After that, it is instant.
4. After killing all apps and going back to the homescreen, scrolling produces an initial studder.
5. When scrolling through homescreens, the screen recognizes a 'long-press' and highlights whatever widget/app was selected and either moves it, or highlights it to resize. This only happens when scrolling through all screens quickly and constantly. I do this to see how quick I can scroll.
I think these are all because of Sense. I remember it being heavy when I had my Inspire, but don't recall having issues like these.
Mine is running pretty smooth.
Might be an app that's not playing nice.
Some folks are having some issues with WIFI. TRy shutting WIFI off and see if it goes away.
I also tend to minimize apps using my location. They might all do a "Where am I" everytime you wake it.

I had this last night. A little airplane mode action brought back my connectivity, and I haven't had it drop 3G today. Hoping it was a fluke.
I have had 1 random reboot since yesterday, but otherwise it has really been running quick and nice. I am truly impressed with this device. Remind me of when I got my OG Evo and how impressed with it I was at the time.
Thanks for the legit replies guys. I usually end up making the threads that idiots reply to, but so far this crowd isn't half bad!
I'm going to keep working with it and hopefully the phone will lose the quirks (idk how but a man can hope).

Anyone else?

Yep, I've turned off all of those (even the international roaming guards) and still get the audible notification. Even with the phone on vibrate or silent modes. Changing notification sound doesn't change the roaming notification either...

When I was connected to wifi, my phone wasn't playing nice with Sprint's data network. Despite the browser working, I couldn't get speech-to-text working or some other things that require data. Turning it off and then on again seemed to fix it, but it's happened a couple times.

Proximity sensor doesn't seem to work when I am on a call. Screen turns off before I get the phone to my ear, doesn't turn back on when it leaves my ear, and if I then turn the screen on using the power button then the screen just stays on during the call even if put back to my ear.
Anyone else?

Try to calibrate the G-Sensor, Settings -> Display & Gestures, I tried it and it seems to be much better.

Try settings->wifi->advanced (click the menu button), and see how long the phone will keep wifi on if it goes to sleep. I'd just turn it to always stay on.
Initial issues? Oh you guys that already got the phone are already complaining? Geez LOL

Havent noticed any proximity sensor issues yet.

No issues here with the proximity sensor. It turns on and off when it should. If anything, it turns off a bit sooner than the old evo did, but not an issue either way.
Yesterday (day 1), my speech to text was crap. I'd say a sentence, it would record one word or letter. I cleared the voice recognition cache to reset it to learn from new. Maybe that helped, maybe something on google needed a day to cycle.
One or two fc's for a sideloaded app. No reboots or other crashes.
I am rooted (less than 4 hours after bring it home).
Also, I'm using nova launcher. I like adw ex, but the 3 vertical dots at the bottom are annoying. If/when they update it for ICS I may switch back. Nova works quite well, with almost as many bells/whistles as adw. Also using latest widget locker for the lock screen. I hate sense, and more so the sense lock screen. Several choices are not enough. I have all my frequently used apps right there on the lock screen.
Also, both adw and nova lets you access some of the hidden settings/functions from the settings menu using the 'activities' shortcuts.

Knock off with Nova?

Has anyone figured out how to do to knock off screen with Nova Launcher? I can get Knock On but not Knock Off, which is annoying because the only other way to turn the screen of is to use the power button (unless there's something I'm not aware off).
Interested in this as well...

Goto
Nova settings - gestures and input - double tap
And select screen lock.
Double tapping anywhere on homescreen will lock the screen then.

I did that before, but doesn't seem to play nicely with AOD. Hmph.
Thanks.
I don't think the op wants to screen lock but rather screen off. That's what I'm interested in anyway.

Usually the two are the same, unless you have your phone to stay unlocked in a trust zone? Or some kind of timer? Personally I don't trust any zone. When my display turns off, my display is always locked.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
Edit - worked like a charm, except it breaks fingerprint unlock after double tap off. If I enter my password to get in and then use the power button to turn off, then fingerprint unlock works. Weird.

Until you have root, double tapping to turn the screen off with Nova will just dim the screen for 30 seconds to a minute until it locks the screen, then the always on display will kick in and you can unlock with fingerprint normally. If you want to turn the screen back on before that happens, if you tap the screen you'll notice the navigation bar comes up, just tap the home button and you'll be back in. Once you have root, it can lock the screen directly and you won't have a problem.

Incorrect. I do not have root and I have enabled double tap in Nova to lock the screen. Double tap actually shuts off the screen.

It looks like it turns off the screen. It's basically a work around for them. Like I said if you touch the screen during that time it's not actually off. It will pop up the navigation buttons. Maybe you want to say it's turning off the screen and not locking it, that's fine. To me it's not actually turning off the screen, just turning off the backlight until the phone actually locks.

On mine if actually locks the screen. I just tried touching the screen immediately after double tap and it stayed dark until aod came on. It is definitely immediately locked and off (at least on my device).

I'm sorry, you're wrong. You aren't looking at the choices. It instantly locks the screen if that's what you want.
It does NOT "time out" if you don't choose that option.
Choose the "device admin" option. But the fingerprint sensor won't unlock it the next time you turn on the screen (like when you reboot the phone, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work first time when you turn on the display.) Still, it INSTANTLY turns off and locks your display. It says so right there in the double tap options.
Or you can choose the "timeout" option, which is what you are describing.

Okay it looks like I made the wrong selection when enabling the double tap gesture - I enabled the admin mode, but I think I really want the time out mode to allow my fingerprint unlock to work correctly. It's there any way to reset Nova so that I get the selection toast screen again to choose? Or do u need to clear data for Nova...
Nevermind. Found the setting.

Yes, I was describing the Timeout option because I assumed that's the best option for people who want to use their fingerprint to unlock the phone again. Didn't realize people might be using the Device Admin mode because it's just annoying. With root it will allow you to instantly timeout the phone bringing up the AOD immediately and allow for fingerprint unlock without just having a plain black screen for about a minute before the phone actually locks. That's all I was saying.

Agree with you. Missed the option with root on my previous V10. I don't like Device Admin & Timeout options. With current unrooted V30+, I always double tap on status bar to lock screen immediately.
There's an option in greenify to turn off screen by long press on home button, which works pretty well.
Without any further settings, you can always double tap the status bar in Nova (or any other app for that matter, not just on the home screen) to turn off the screen. That's what I do all the time.

Interesting. I didn't know about that option. Yeah, that works.
But until now with this phone I've not messed with the double tap options. To me (with other phones) it was just as easy or easier to tap the power button (on the side) once than to double tap the screen.
This is yuge. Thanks! Status bar double tap FTW.
I really don't want to be picking up the phone to press the power button on the back to lock it every time.
Glad to see that other people know about the double tap on status bar trick! It's made my life a lot easier.

fully disable touchscreen when screen off s21?

Hi everyone,
sorry if this has been answered, I tried to search. Since the last samsung update my phone is constantly turning on the torch or calling 911 when its in my pocket. I've tried everything and just cant seem to stop this stupidity!
Is there a way to fully disable touchscreen when the screen is off? When you press the powerbutton and screen wakes up the touch starts again? I dont care about waking the screen up with the fingerprint!
thanks
You should have these settings, they use to be there with Pie on Samsung's.

Turning the display away from your skin and using a case with slightly raised display guards helps a lot. Turning on Accidental touch protection stops it most times.

I have all those setup, I have double tap to wake all off also.
I just installed Touch Blocker but it doesnt behave as I would expect. The touch is still active when on lockscreen/off and then blocks once you unlock it. so there is still a chance could butt dial 911.. hmm

I use the Zizo Bolt case, it provides excellent protection, a two layer system with an outer polycarbonate shell. Never comes apart in a multi impact drop. It has slightly raises display guards that help reduce false touches when using and in pocket. I have 2 N10+'s and use One Handed Operation plus as well as Edge Panels, it doesn't interfere with their use very much.
I don't use lock screen, double tap on/off. If you face it away from your skin and then be careful not to touch the screen when placing it in your pocket it works well. BDU pant button (unbuttoned) cargo pockets are great for these phones. Most times Accidental Lock Protection stops it. The other thing you can do is set the display timeout to a lower value; less time to do damage. However mine are still set to 10 minutes. I habitually double tap it all the time.
Lol, a couple times I pulled it out and saw menus I never saw before. I explore settings etc a lot too. So many buried submenus
911? I'm more afraid of changing a vital setting.
Emergency call is package blocked on my devices as well.

Not exactly what you are asking BUT just got a S21 two weeks ago and pocket dialed police twice - they called first but still= bad.
Tried to get energency tab off lockscreen with Samsung Remote Tutor [ and Samsung tech ] - not possible .
NOW however I have fingerprint enabled .
When phone is in my pocket in 'standby black screen mode' 'screen off'
IF it is jostled around - it goes to the
FINGERPRINT SCREEN -
and can not call 911 .
And I get messages sometimes that screen was temporarily disabled due to random touches or something like that but it turns back on right away.
SO - the fingerprint reader screen acts as a buffer where the 'emergency call ' button is NOT exposed in my pocket .
Questions ? I was very annoyed with this the first day and second day I got the phone .
