[Q] Lack of heap! - HTC Amaze 4G

I was trying to flash a couple of different ROMs(Speed ROM and QuickSense), and with both of them I got an error in the bootloader after it went through parsing the PH85IMG.zip that said Lack of heap! I tried Speed ROM first, and got the error, so I tried with QuickSense and got the same thing. I'm rooted stock ICS right now, S-OFF with ENG bootloader. Any help with this is appreciated.

Don't rename custom roms. Just boot to recovery and install zip from sd card

Oy... My bad. That completely slipped my mind since I haven't flashed a custom ROM in a long time, lol. Thanks!

Um...you can rename files once you don't unzip them and once the names have no spaces.

Why not just download rom manager and install with that? You will need to root though.
I'd hit up Koush if you just want to try the recovery image.

The stock img file is available at most if not all the root method sites.
Check for the stock ruu pg05img.zip , this is what your looking for if I'm not mistaken?

Yeah that is probably it is in the zip, I just haven't been at the pc much lately and wanted to make sure this is possible. I don't want to unlock my boot loader quite yet just for backing up.

Most important updates are newest firmware (top choice) from here http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...T-1-05-11-0606&p=220556&viewfull=1#post220556
Rename to PJ75IMG.zip, put on root of ext sd card, boot to bootloader to flash...remove/move file from ext sd card root so it won't run again next time.
Newest kernel is not in this firmware update...get modded version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700251 which is recovery flashable or stock here http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...T-1-05-11-0606&p=241703&viewfull=1#post241703 which will need to be done same way as full firmware update...bootloader. This deserves more than a thanks button. I really appreciate the time you took putting this together.
Coming from gingerbread, I'm having a rough time finding things. Verified the bootloader version, just couldn't find radio version to verify update.

Wire trick

Hey xda just wondering if I can do the wire trick on a custom Rom, I'm on Mean Rom ICS...it says to be on a stock rooted though. Has anyone done this on a custom?
Thanks

I tried this method on a custom ROM without success but i had a rooted stock rom at hand so i preferred to flash that ROM to apply the method.
However I think it could work if the ControlBear program finds the paths it expects on the filesystem.
In particular it looks for /system/bin/su or /system/xbin/su.
So maybe, after a nandroid backup, you can proceed trying the method on the rom as is and, if ControlBear complains, move the programs it wants in the right path.
I think that proceeding in this way can't harm your phone, however, haven't tried this solution myself I don't know for sure.
thanks man, im downloading a stock rooted pg file right now, i just rename it and put it on sd card and reboot to bootloader?

Really, what is wrong with flashing a stock GB rooted rom first?
Is it too much trouble?
I think screwing up your phone and having regrets is even worse that the extra time it takes to do it right.

Can't flash sense 4.0 or higher after flashing a aosp Rom.

So after flashing aosp Rom I can't seem to flash anything other than sense 3.6 roms. Why I try I get a constant booting. I'm s-on and also I've noticed the roms with kernel zip built in. The PH98IMG doesn't install on ad card. But zips flashed in recovery do. Also bootfast isn't working either, even tho phone is recognized by computer. Any help would be appreciated on this thanks in advance.

if you can't get to fastboot then you have the zip from another file on there. delete that then in order to get that certain rom to work you have to extract the roms boot.img and fastboot flash on pc.

Personally I don't know if that would help, well....actually I don't see why it wouldn't cuz the s-off process will wipe everything.. I'd say do it and flash somethin fresh, don't nandroid after.. try a sense 4 Rom fresh.. if it still doesn't go id try flashjg another aosp Rom that is known not to cause this problem your havig, then try flashing s4 again.. I'm really curious as to why this is happening.. I'm not sure if any of this would help but these are the steps I personally would take to try and trouble shoot..

Crazy is, the problem seems to be something to do with kernels. I can only flash one all others even funky kernel with install thru fastboot, but the out come is the same. Continuous booting. At this point I don't see S-_OFF will fix the problem either. I ruued twice factory reset and used Scott's ten wipe and clean installs only to in up with the same out come.

Soft bricked the amaze with no recoveries.

I had corrupted ROMs right after trying evervolv rom. Anyone have the original gingerbread and ICS ruu? The ones I found online seem to be corrupted as I get the "sd card has been disconnected" message every time I try to put it on the SD card ( have tried 3 different SD cards and all of the ruus found here). Also some have been taken down as I guess the NFC amaze development is a ghost town now .

Must have been another JB rom, I lost track testing all the roms haha.
I'm okay now running Viper ICS rom. I didn't have to S-OFF and return to stock. However, WiFi stopped working and I tried to re-flash the faux kernel using smartflash in 4ext but to no avail.
