Instead of buying an extended battery for my note I want to buy an extra battery and keep it in my wallet, which I keep in my back pocket. Would the battery leak if I were to sit or would it be alright for me to keep the battery in my wallet?
It would be perfectly fine. I leave every morning with a full charge on my phone and spare battery. The spare sits in my wallet which stays in my back pockets all day. I'm in and out of chairs all day with no issues. To each their own but I love the spare battery option...

I also keep a spare OEM battery in my pocket everyday. Never had a problem.

I'm getting a battery shape outline worn into my wallet.
Good to know, I was worried the battery would overheat or leak.

I'm thinking about getting an extended battery for the vibrant which is 3500 mah and I was wondering, is it really worth it? Because if I put it in my pocket I really don't want it to stick out or get annoying. Any comments or opinion's that may question my choice are welcome that will help me in my decision.

If it's Samsung original, it won't stick out. I tried one at an official Samsung distributor a while back and it looks exactly the same as the stock one, feels heavier though.
WAIT! You can buy a battery that holds more charge???? How much is it?
I just received my extended battery and I couldn't be happier. My phone has been off the charger since 7 this morning and with heavy use it just got down to 60. (over 14 hours)

Just wondering how many have replaced their back cover due to it being worn out and no or limited radio connections.

Not me. So far so good. But I feel it may not last long since I swap batteries often.
My battery life is horrible cause of heavy use. I have seven batteries I swap out when drained.

Yea, I've tried all those apps, task killers, battery savers. Battery life is my least concern now since I have batteries.
My problem is connections. In high 4G areas I'm usually only getting 3g and I get a lot of no data connections.

Dayum. How do you charge all those?
Just a suggestion, see how your battery life fares if you keep your screen brightness under 25% (if you can).
I use two wall chargers. I average 3-4 batteries a day which works out well for me. I've tried the lowest setting I could possibly go with still seeing the screen, didn't seem to help much believe it or not.
Since I've gotten the backup batteries I just have it on auto brightness now.
Aside from the battery life, I'm more concerned now about the limited 4G I get and no data at all at times.
I would also think even though the battery cover is built well, I think it will wear out from all the removals.

I worry about same thing removing frequently. I found this supposedly oem but from Hong Kong. But if you look at images has contacts like the original back. Ordered and will have it in about another week or so.

Wow, 16 bucks for that, I can like 5 bucks. LOL
I guess it is original equipment though, so may actually be worth it to have one as a backup. Thanks for link

How did it go with Lingosbox.com? How many days did the item arrive and did you encounter any problem with them?
I'm looking to buy a new battery because this 1400 mah just isn't cutting it. I want to buy a bigger one but I don't want all that extra bulk in the back and have to replace my stock battery door. Can someone tell me the biggest battery mah wise that I can buy w/o having to get rid of my battery door?

Seidio has a 1600. That's the biggest i've seen, and it looks like most reviewers are finding performance similar to stock.

Go name brand when you do. I have a 1800 mah no name and its not that great. Might be better than stock but not much.
Pm me your address if in the USA and ill send you a battery I got from htc express. I never used the battery (came with 2). I'll eat the shipping cost.

wow, that was nice!!!
Sadly you won't be able to get much more performance out of a stock-sized battery, the manufacturer usually fits the largest battery they can in the phone. Any third party claiming to have a higher capacity is usually lying about the specs.
I would instead focus on software tweaks, I can easily get a full day out of my stock battery with moderate use.
I don't lower any of my settings. I keep the push email. Sometimes I use Live Wallpaper. I let my device pull LTE data speeds whenever I want. With the extended battery it lasts longer than I need in a day. Other than needing to order a case I don't mind. The bulge in the back is not as bad as some people made it seem. Pros outweigh the cons for me.

app helped my battery life
I'm new here and the TB is my first Android phone. I came across an app that has helped with my battery life..... called keyboard backlight controller. It allows you to turn off the two lights that eluminate the four soft keys on the bottom of the phone. I've only been using it a couple days, but really seems to have helped by having those lights off, not HUGE diff, but anything helps.
Not sure if this was the right place to post this, but thought it might be helpful to others. It does require root.
Well schools about to start and I need a Rom that has really good bat. Currently running viper with no mods and it lasts a good 5hr

Did you try calibrating the battery again? 5 hours is pretty short. Turn off auto-sync, and stick to 3g. And you should have access to WiFi in school, right? I got the extended battery. Money well spent. Shop around, I'm sure you could get one for a decent price.

Calibrating the battery? Is there an app for that? And school doesn't have WiFi so 4g is essential. And extended battery is too expensive. Does the aosp or cm9 do well? I don't want to flash a whole new ROM just to test the battery lol

Grab a spare standard battery and a cheap battery charger. All together its like $12 plus shipping. I got two extra standard batteries. I put on in my backpack and leave the other at home for trips and stuff.

That or get an emergency battery pack they usually can charge your phone twice before needing to be recharged and mine was $30

Are you saying five hours screen on or five hours total?
Five hours screen on is fantastic. I don't think you can do better than that. Five hours total is terrible. If that's all you're getting then something is wrong.

Ineffabilis dues 1.1 has great battery life. When I stick to just 3g, a carefully adjusting brightness, I can get 15+ hrs with moderate use with 2.5-3 hrs screen on time.

Same rom, same stats for me, but I am on wifi most of the time. I can get up to four hours screen on if I'm mostly only using the phone to read a book (FBReader).
Thanks! I'll try it out today

I am going away to Belgium for two and a half weeks. I will unlikely have access to a wall outlet. I have 7 batteries for my S3. So at the moment i am trying all the ways possible to increase the battery life of my S3. I run a stock rom with a siyah kernal. I use stweaks to undervolt my cpu but 100mv and have the max freq. set to 700 ghz. I also have it locked to one core.
Does any of this help increase battery life.
Any other suggestions?
Grateful for any help.
hmmm battery saving app might help
also black theme will help and black background
powersaving govener will help 2
anyway why 7 batteries :/ u could bought 2zero lemon ones and enjoyed
Cause I constantly have my phone in a trident kraken case. I am well aware of the zero lemon batteries as my friend has one. But it would require serious kidding of my case to accommodate a zero lemon battery in my case. Plus the batteries were only £5 each.

owh good for you
and i agree with you about the case thing it becomes a tank with zero lemon since its 7000mah something but i saw someone modifying a utter defence case for it at least it looked like a cool tank
anyway with some tweaks you will get a good battery life though it all depends on how you use the phone for example if its in sleep mode it can last for 6 days on one battery but full use your looking at 6 hour on screen probably
With what I have atm I can get get 5 hours of the screen on with the cpu running flat out at 700mhz on two cores. I also have a solar charger with me so I should be fine. Do u think reducing the clock speed further will help?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Would flashing a different rom make a difference, such as a really stripped down one that is compatible with dual booting on the siyah kernal. Also is there a way I could limit the apps that are allowed to run. I already have juice defender to limit the apps that have connectivity.

There are millions of battery posts on here to read . Also a number of how to get better battery life posts .
Simplest in my view is to carry a spare battery .

............giving you a great opportunity to practise language skills, engage with the locals and, dare I say it........ask if you could possibly charge your phone.....you never know, you might get offered a meal,a bed for the night or who knows what!
That's what traveling is about, not notching up destinations, it's about engaging with people, their culture, their ways.

Delete all your apps (especially google apps) which u don't need. Turn off account sync, this is what the most battery drains. If u are in uncovered area, turn flight mode on, steadily searching for net could cause battery drain too.
