dude .ftf files are already bundled..!! you cant bundle them.. they are ready to be flashed..!!
files that can be bundled are .sin files which are converted into .ftf files after creating bundle. they are ready to be flashed..!!

[GUIDE] How to make your regional firmware an .FTF file

Okep. I assume you have the latest FlashTool installed already...
1) Get this (SEUS) : http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/flash/mobile_phones/companies/sony_ericsson/models/seus/7572.html
2) Flash your phone with the latest software available using SEUS.
3) Go to C:\Program Files\Sony Ericcson\Update Service\db\13740270\blob_fs\
4) Copy the 2 largest files you'll find there to C:\Flashtool\leajian (I assume you created there a folder called leajian)
5) Run FlashTool
6) Click Advanced > Decrypt Files
7) Source folder : C:\Flashtool\leajian
8) From Files, select all (Click & Ctrl + A) and click -> to move the 2 files to Files to convert
9) Click OK
10) Wait patiently till it finishes...
11) From Folder list, select all (Click & Ctrl + A) and click -> to move the 2 files to Firmware content
12) If it is ICS, tick the Disable Final Verification Check
13) On Device write the model [ex. Xperia Neo V (MT11i)], on Version write the firmware version and/or the Android version [ex. 4.1.A.0.562 (ICS_4.0.3)], on Branding write the region and your name if you wish [ex. Greek (by Leajian)].
14) Click OK
15) On Device Selection choose the device it is for (ex. MT11i)
16) Wait very patiently...
17) When it finishes the .ftf file is located on C:\Flashtool\firmwares
18) SHARE IT ON XDA!!!
Reserved
;-) you forgot the most important point, once created share.
We'll soon have a full collection

Check this folder only after a complete flash via SEUS. After that the two big files we want are named after like this "FILE_XXXXXXXXXX" where X are some numbers.

Differs and may confuse users who are not that familiar with this stuff... :/
The third file you copy is small, around 64KB, that's the loader.sin which is automatically merged to FTF by Flashtool, when you specify the device of the FTF.
ok and now what with this file: simlock.ta
we need it?

Personally I prefer to include it, because it was shipped and that's why it has to be on an official FTF.
I haven't tested if needed or not, but I think it's not necessary.

You don't need it.
But we can't create backup if updated is available for FS, right?
I had stock gingerbread and when I tried to back it up I didn't see any repair option in SUS as ICS was available for my phone at that time.

Well.. Before there wasn't problems by flashing that file, but in ICS era some reports having problems by locking their phones.
Few latest versions of flashtool disregard that file during flash process. I believe those users(who had problems) didn't use latest version and simlock.ta file got flashed. I'm not 100% but I believe so.
Btw, .ta file is tricky file, you can mess up your phone if you mess up with it. One guy did it with his Xperia S, that's why flashtool guys made it disregard that file.

F*ck logic, ask Sony! xP
for the first timers: now in the updated flashtool, the decrypt option is inside Tools - Bundles - FILESET decrypt... I was scratching my head for a while there, cuz Advanced options was not available to me.

I assume you are on windows. Go to C:/ > Program files > Sony Ericsson > Update Service > db > ****** > Blob_fs
Hey, you have the Latin America firm for sk17a?
If that's the case I'd appreciate if you upload it when you get the ftf file (I guess that's what you'd do anyways, but doesn't hurt to ask).
Thanks!

I'm using PC Companion. I Don't have that "Update Service" folder inside Program Files.
Also, in Sony PC Companion folder there's no blob_fs file.

Nope. It's the WT19a US generic firmware (CDA 1254-1956).
You can find SK17a ftf here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693431.
It says "Generic US", but Sony's firmwares have system languages for every officialy supported language.
Doesn't matter if you download an US or brazilian firmware, you'll have the Spanish language in it.
Just be sure to download a "SK17a" firmware, not a "SK17i". Else you're going to screw the baseband of your phone.
Ftf can only be made by updating from SUS . Here is what u do now..
Download SUS.
Follow their steps.
They tell u that phone already has latest software......
Still u can reinstall the existing android version. Note thT it will wipe out everything....
Thn it begins to download
After it has downloaded... Thn u can go to above mentioned blob fs folder....
There arrange them by date in descending.... Top 3 files are the firmware files ... Take them and store them somewhere.... Thn start flashtool...advanced... Decrypt files.... Point to those three... After decryption it shows many files ... Select them all n bring them to right column.... Also fill in model, version number etc etc... Thn it asks u for fone model ...chose wt19...... And now u r done.... Look into firmware folder of flashtool ... There should be ur ftf.......
And instead of reading all above things .. There is a simple video on youtube abt backing up ur sone ericsson firmware..... Search that

what is loader.sin , i mean does it does any harm like in an updated phone u have old loader or something ?
or i guess its just used to install files like kernel via flashtools?
i am asking this cause in my flashtools>lt18i folder , the loader.sin is 26 feb 2012 modified, so is it all still ok ?!
when you make a ftf, flashtool will create a loader.sin automatically asking your model and bootloader status

this guy: "aisan" confused me with his post...
anyways i used prateek_gemini method mentioned on first page and dragged the ftf created in flashtools folder in flashtools and just kept to flash the kernel with the loader.sin in it,,,, so is it all ok ?!
i mean one loader.sin is in flashtools>lt18 folder
and other in the ftf file i created and flashed from that only...
so all i did was correct and had nothing to do with the loader.sin file in lt18 folder ?!
i hope u get it and ease me out of this please!

I have a problem...
I tried to update my Xperia S using Sony Pc companion...
Problem:
The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated..
Details:
Sony Update Engine failure (error 2003)
So the software already updated/downloaded and since I have limited bandwidth I would very much not like to download it again, is there anywhere where i can find this file it downloaded so I can maybe fix the problem and load it later with flashtool?
The downloaded file must be somewhere because if I try to update it again it just skip over the update part meaning it already downloaded, not to sure if this is the correct place to ask but any help would be much appreciated.

You can make your own system dump. Download .587 ftf and keep it in firmwares. Then open it with winrar and extract system.sin. Then Open flashtool and go to SIN Editor under tools (be sure that you are in advanced mode under the file menu). Then select the system.sin in firmwares and press dump data. Then under tools menu, go to extractors---> Yaffs2. Go to the firmwares folder. You will find only one file. Select that and wait until the data extraction in finished. Done!! Then go to the firmwares folder and look for a folder call "system_content". It will work for all 2011 Xperia devices.
Press the Thanks button if I helped.

You can extract a yaffs2 file using flashtool itself. Go to tools---->Extractors----->Yaffs2. Choose the yaffs2 file and begin the dumping process. You will get a folder called "system_content" which is the entire system folder of the stock rom. I have confirmed that this works.

Extracting system folder from .ftf firmware file

Hello everyone. I have gone through some guides relating to ftf to zip conversion.. They helped me a lot when I needed to tweak Stock ROM for my Neo L.. Thanks to all of them.. The process of this is quite lengthy for those who do not have Sony Xperia phones.. For the people with Sony Xperia phones, we have a flashtool which makes this process easier... I will be covering about extracting system.sin file and extracting it using the flashtool....
For this you need Flashtool. Go to http://androxyde.github.com/index.html?1363896068000.. Under 'Installation' tab, download the latest version of flashtool.. Install it to root of any drive so that it can be easily accessed... Now let us get to work...
NOTE: 1. This guide is only for SONY XPERIA phones which are supported by the flashtool provided in the above link...
2. DO NOT CONNECT YOUR PHONE WHILE DOING THIS METHOD....
A. Extracting system.sin from ftf file (ftf file is a stock firmware file.. Download the required fif file from xda)
1. Go to the folder where you installed flashtool.. In that there will be 'firmwares' folder.. Place your ftf file in it..
2. Now open the flashtool and click on the lightning button..
3. When you click on the lightning button, it will show flashmode and fastboot options. Select flashmode..
4. The ftf file which you placed in the 'firmwares' folder will now appear.. Select it.. Don't do any changes, just press OK..
5. Flashtool will prepare files for flashing and displays a dialogue box asking you to connect your phone..
6 Do not connect your phone.. Just leave that dialogue box like that.. DO NOT CLOSE IT..
7. Now go to the 'firmwares' folder.. A new folder with the name 'prepared' will appear..
8. Open it and your system.sin file will be present.. Copy it and paste it somewhere else..
B. Extracting the system folder from system.sin
1. Close the dialogue box which asks you to connect your phone.. Flashing will be cancelled..
2. Go to 'Tools' menu and select 'SIN editor'..
3. Browse to the system.sin file and select dump data.. You will get two files with 'yaffs2' extension.. Neglect the smaller one..
4.. Go to 'Tools' menu and select 'Extractors'.. Under this select 'yaffs2'..
5. Browse to the system.yaffs2 file and select OK.. That's it... You have the system folder with you.. customize whatever you want and combine with the META-INF folder and zip it...
Hit thanks if it helped you... Any suggestions or questions are welcome...
