MiniCM9-3.0.2 / nAa-ics-03 bad battery life - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi there,
Just installed MiniCM9-3.0.2 / nAa-ics-03 a few days ago coming from MiniCM7.
I really like the ROM. There's only one thing.. Battery life is 8 hours max.
The phone is setup not to sync any mail/contacts/agenda stuff right now and I've tried Juicedefender to shut down data traffic at night but still the battery is almost empty after about 8 hours. I'm using the suggested SmartAssv2 governor.
Any one else also experiencing this and/or has a suggestion about what might help getting longer battery life ?
Thanks in advance

Some say overclocking can help with saving battery life, as tasks get done quicker and so you don't burn as much energy on displaying the screen. Then again, overclocking caused my phone to become unstable.
Why not flash the nAa-ics-04 and MiniCM 3.0.3 and see if that helps? Check your Battery stats and see what part is using the most battery.
Place the Energy widget on your homescreen so you can turn off services that you don't need at that time.

Thanks for your reply belgianguy.
In the mean time I had found both nAa-ics-04 and MiniCM 3.0.3 and installed them.
Also I did this procedure a few time : charged the battery full, cleared the battery stats from CWM and discharged the battery.
Altogether a very big difference
Not sure what caused the battery life to last much longer but both things helped I guess.
Even got wifi working now
I'll have a look at the Energy widget next.

[Q] Ridiculous Battery Drain

Guys, I'm getting ridiculous battery drain (100-200 mA, all I do is texting). Can somebody help me finding out what the problem is? I'm running the VillainROM with the OC Kernel.
In the Battery Usage-section it says that 'Display' is taking up 65%. I've already tried to turn off my overclock (1.5GhZ) but that didn't fix it. I've done the FastDormancy trick, and freezed all the bloatware through Titanium Backup.
I'm running the stock launcher, with Beautiful Widgets. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, I'm already on 83%..
Thanks in advance!

I got the same last week, just before I got myself in a boot loop.
The fix for that seems to have gotten things back to reasonable.
Less than 1%/hr now in idle (wifi or 3G on, some syncs).
Procedure right on top in SII Q&A by pulser.
(wish that was there last week )
PS: I am on Lite'ning 1.1 now, but that should not make that big a difference.

I see. I will reflash my entire ROM and start from scratch, and I'll report back. Thanks for the help, mate.
where are you able to see current mA usage? was my understanding this is not available on the SGS2.
There is nothing wrong with your phone. The screen will use that much power. 200ma is very low for the screen. On my old Desire 400ma with screen on was normal.
Also the white color will use more power then other colors.
yeah where can you see the current mA usage?
I also would be very interested in where OP got his battery readings.
Really wanted to test the effect on the battery from different settings, but from a statistical point of view, battery percentage alone is worth nothing. Need these readings.
I've reinstalled my ROM, it's lower now but it's still way too high (70 mA)...
I get the readings from Battery Monitor Widget Pro. After installing, go to settings and put battery capacity on 1650,
Then go to 'history' and you can see mA usage
yes, unfortunately this is only an estimation as Samsungs battery driver does not include mA data.
Thats why CurrentWidget does not work, battery Monitor just gives you an educated guess calculated from percentage and usage i believe.
yes samsung is using the max10742 fuel gauge chip, and the damn thing does not give current readings, only voltage, temperature, etc. many other fuel gauges DO give current readings and it is very helpful. i wish samsung would switch to some other already...
battery monitor widget is estimating...

[Q] Wolfbreak's V6 - battery issues...help!

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster, so please...go easy on me as I'm still trying to figure out the lingo and what not!
Anyhow, I just recently installed V6 and everything is absolutely great - except my battery goes down faster than <insert whatever reference you want here..hockey goalie, boxing, sexual>
I initially tried flashing over V5 and that's when the issue started - V5 was fine the way it was, but was starting to eat up the battery a little quicker - maybe due to a couple of new apps installed? did a full wipe and reinstalled v6 and am experiencing the same issue
I don't know if it's a problem with my actual battery or what...anyone have any suggestions?
Fully charge the battery until the green charged light goes off then reboot into XRecovery and wipe your battery stats.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Alternatively, there's the battery calibration app.
Alternatively, build your own stock ROM. Wolfs ROM has IMHO too many uneccesary tweaks that drain the battery... although his performance ROM has awesome battery (I'm using it right now)... lol I dunno why..

Well its tough to explain u, but use set cpu and reduce the maximum processing speed to 384. The battery will be consumed to the lowest. I have done the same. And my x10 works for min 1.5 day.

um..I have no-frills cpu - figure it's the same, or is set cpu a better app?
max clock freq is at 998Mhz; min at 245; governor is at ondemand (gotta read up on this..) and i/o scheduler is on deadline..should I change any of the other stuff?
thanks!
I use juce defender plus and if needed I could go a couple of days without charging.

Not sure if my problem is the same but my phone WB v6 (even on v5) will turn off when used heavily i guess (less than 5min video games seem to be ok but other apps will do it randomly). but the battery will say like 65% whatever it should be from the use so far after a reboot most of the time i have then same % as before the umm crash but sometimes it shows 25% and turns off then if i leave it for a bet i get back to the higher % but will still crash with a little app use. Frustrating as i LOVE the ROM!
So far no crash during phone calls. But the crashes are no rhyme or reason. I have tried calibrating and full flash but it came back.
(would have posted in the ROM thread but i have too few postes and this seemed a better place)
Hung Wei Lo: which version are you using? Try lowering min frequency, adjust settings (like brightness). I'm on v6 with Freekernel and I get 2-3 days on a full charge. Maybe an app is preventing your phone from entering deep sleep.
Rabbit Stew: are you overclocking? Try a full wipe including battery stats, then installing v6s. The stock version should be the most stable.
Here's two methods that work for me.
To me the battery calibration app, is USELESS, no offence to the developer.
1. Wiping battery stats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943626
or
2. Optimizing battery with just a charger and phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071885
Don't go anymore then 5 tries.
I figured I'd give an update on this..
Things had magically sorted themselves out - battery life got better and better each day, though not to the point most of you are getting (I'm talking MAYBE 14 hours of minimal usage - the odd facebook check, random text message etc)
As suggested, I've set the min. frequency to the lowest possible, screen timeout is at like 30 seconds
As of the past couple of days, I've been getting half that...no new apps installed all the same settings...wifi is off, brightness is set to 25%, no gps usage all I have on is data. As an example, I charged her up and unplugged it with an hour to go before I was done at work. an hour ride on the subway doing nothing but listening to some tunes, and I'm down to 60%...in two hours
I'm at wits end here...according to cpu spy here are my most recent stats:
998 - 0:01:49 - 35%
576 - 0:00:-4 - 1%
384 - 0:00:03 - 3%
245 - 0:00:52 - 17%
deep sleep - 0:02:11 - 42%
thoughts (related to this issue)? suggestions? ideas?
is calibrating the battery will solve the phone randomly restart??
In my infinite wisdom, I'd have to seriously doubt it...did you do a fresh install?

[Q] Xperia X10 Mini Pro poor battery life

Hello every one,
I am facing poor battery life with my x10 mini pro. Even I had my battery replaced recently. But still, the battery life is just about the same.
I tried following things...
1. Turning down the brightness down.
2. Turning off the data, background sync, 3g
3. Uninstalling the apps that runs on background
4. Deleting battery stats after installing new ROM (CM7 2.2.0)
I typically use my phone for 1hour of calls, 30mins of browsing, 1hour music playback, <20mins of gaming. And the battery will be drained in less than 8 hours.
And, another weird thing is, the battery fills up very very fast. It will take like 25mins to get to 100% from <15%.
Please, guide me what to do. This has been a serious head ache for me. Will flashing back to Eclair, Donut will solve the issue?
Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem!
I suggest flashing back to MiniCM7-2.1.9, my battery life was REALLY good on that version. But I updated to v2.2.0 yesterday and now I have the same battery problem as you. The rom does run faster and I also noticed a few bugs fixed, such as the keyboard light, but battery life is just really bad for me.
If u dont use dsp manager then remove it,because many users hve reported that dsp manager drains battery
Install battery dr saver from market
It has option of full cycle charge for charging battery properly

Done that already, still the same. Already know about Battery Dr Saver, but I don't think it helps this problem.
I also installed Badass Battery Monitor, it's really detailed and shows a lot of info. It's showing that the display is using up the most battery, but I have it idle most of the time.........
agree!
at least someone or two has same problem with me.
i just flashed cm7 2.2.0 over these 2 weeks.
well i noticed the battery drain alot faster than stock eclair.
i'm looking forward to see the solution...

done that already too, except I use smartassv2 governor and my max is just stock speed at 600mhz.
I basically applied every tweak that I could find from every topic, and believe me they do work, on v2.1.9 at least.
It seems that most people have the same problem on v2.2.0, the radio somehow keeps draining battery. I noticed that it used up 33% for no reason, whereas on v2.1.9 it was around 2%.
BTW I dunno if it makes a difference if I use smartassv2 or interactiveX, but most people said that smartassv2 is better since that's what nAa uses, so it's more compatible. I don't think changing the governors matter though, I've used Badass Battery Monitor for 3 days in a row now and it shows none of the apps are draining power. Even using Android Assistant shows that my phone is idle 94% of the time, where the System uses 4% CPU and User uses 2% CPU. So I do believe it's gotta do with the radio, somehow this rom isn't using the kernel that well I think.
Then it wil be good idea to stick to 2.1.9
YES ! im not the only one wooo, i signed up just to thank the creator of this thread <3 ok so i think it is the minicm7 2.2.0 problem, because i never had it before ! I suggest going back to CM7 2.1.9. It's very stable for me and battery drain is so low that my phone can last almost a week on standby without much usage, it's great!
I would stay away from CM9 for now, and wait until it's more stable. So far, I've read that many people are experiencing a few bugs here and there, so I would wait until after a few new version releases and try it out then.

well, if you're using CM9 or CM7, you have no choice but to use the nAa kernel.......unless you're asking which kernel version, otherwise you pretty much don't have a choice.
I'm pretty sure it's not the kernel either, CM7 2.2.0 drains a lot more battery compared to CM7 2.1.9. They both use the same kernel, so it has nothing to do with that.
i used cm7 2.1.9 and i got 4 hours battery life, with wifi off, 3g off, and all i did was txt thru whatsapp with 2g and i was at the movies for 2 hours anyway, and no its not my battery cause i bought another one, still the same thing im getting frustrated ! gonna try original kernel and rom

I installed cm9 mini, but phone was lagging and battery life was poor. Now i installed cm7 mini 2.2.1 and it runs a lot better than cm9, but like most of you say, i also have the battery drain issue...; during 9hours of sleep my phone lost 30% of battery that's really enoying. Stock 2.1 SE rom loses about 7% during 9 hours of sleep.
So most of you recomand the 2.1.9 instead of 2.2.1? And which kernel should i use? Is there a possibility that the kernel i use (ana 14 ) drains the battery so fast? if i install 2.1.9 should i use the ana 14 kernel, or a lower version?
thx

[Q] Resurrection Remix 1.9.1 battery drain

so as im a new user and i can't post in half of the forum, but i've still got this urgent question/ point to ask, here's my question:
i recently moved on the new 1.9.1 ressurection remix rom from the 1.3, and aswell changed my kernel to siyah, now lately my battery drains preety quick (yes i did burn it down to 0% and charged it over to 100% few times), but here's the thing, when once i had issues with screen burning 30%-45% of my battery, now it's lying low on 10%-20% while the real issue now is the "Android OS" which goes as high as 60%-70% of my battery, i've been trying to calibrate the battery and reset battery stats and discharge and recharge couple of times, but this just keeps going on... any way to solve this?

OK! I've read your situation. This is the only thing that I can recommend. Try installing a Gingerbread rom and see if the issue persists. If it does then some of your application could be the culprit behind the battery draining issue. But again, thats just a guess...And if it is one of your applications that is causing the drain then you should install bettebatterystats from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Then charge your battery to 100% and try a new calibration method, maybe you haven't heard of it. But if you charge till 100% then take out the battery for exactly 3 minutes and put it back in and power up your phone and use your phone normally as you do and then at 20% or lower go and check betterbatterystats and see what is causing the most of the battery drain.
Have a great day and good luck with the battery drain, hope this helps!!
Did you check the ROM FAQ about battery draining?
Please check it out. There is also an example of making some changes using extweaks which comes installed by default with ICS Resurrection 1.9.1.

i did read about the new method today, but havent had the chance to try it yet.
im not sure if it's a certain application that causes it, but in the battery stats it points out "Android OS", i've seen many galaxy nexus users complain about the same problem, even with stock kernel/roms, and galaxy S2 users that moved from gingerbread to ICS. it's logical that ICS will take more battery because of the control over multiple cpus and all this kind of stuff but im not sure how much it is about that "Android OS".
anyway ill try to have this battery calibration new method once my battery will drain out, and im probably not going to go down to gingerbread again because i already know its not gonna persist because i remmember how my phone behaved on GB and that those 2 systems work completely different and i want to solve the drain per ICS and not solve the issue by downgrading back down to gingerbread.
thank you for your time and help anyway

[Q] Battery issue? Possibly the Costum Kernel?

Well recently I bought the Beast S3.
Now I installed this first Kernel - CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4
And CM9 rom, was working great though there's one problem the damn battery drain is like being raped evey 5-10 mins if not less I loose 1-2% battery.
Now I though it might be the Kernel so I switched to Siyah-s3-v1.5.3-CWM, no go still the same result.
I changed my Rom to CM10, same result.
Here's a Screenie of my device (In Attachments)
Could you help out a little? I've checked and not sure where is the issue, and I understand that super huge screen consumes allot of power but even if I set brightness to 0-25% I get the same result...
Most battery issues are caused by installed user apps. Install Cpu Spy for cpu deep sleep issues and Better Battery Statts for locating apps that show unusual activity`s and drain the battery.

This battery drain percentage looks normal to me.
Sometimes I lose 5% without doing anything, even if I have a perfectly cleaned rom.
