How do I toggle 4G on VZW? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Sorry I can't find it anywhere.

I don't know, but I wish there was a way to force 4g. I'm sitting here with the 3g's, while my wife next to me has all four g's on her thunderbolt.

You might want to call. I heard people were having trouble with that and it's and activation thing. It was in the verizon pre order thread I think.

Idk if its like sprint, but you can try this:
settings > more settings > mobile networks > network mode > select cdma/lte > reboot

It's not there on VZW. Anyone else know?

perm disable of roaming data?

hey, is there any magical hidden menus where i can permanently disable data roaming? i still want phone and text roaming, but not data... every time i go where i don't have coverage it automatically enables roaming and i got an unexpected roaming bill last month... checked and data roaming was enabled on the phone..
This is for a T-Mo T959 on wind mobile in canada... not the i9000m in my sig.
Does this not do it?

yes, but then every time i leave my network it enables it and prompts me telling me it has done so, and if someone else is using my phone (or the kids are playing with it) it gets turned on.
Thats odd. I travel outside of the normal network pretty often and I've never had that happen to me. "Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Data roaming <--- Disable it" is how I am setup and it always pops up with the option to enable but I never do and I get no service again(data only) until I get back into a normal service area. I'd assume its a bug in the ROM you are currently running. If no one else is experiencing the same problem running the same setup I'd suggest trying to re-download and re-flash.
Good luck!
Its the stock rom, and it does prompt as you said yours does, but if I am not paying attention or someone else is using it, it gets turned on and is not noticed til my next bill where I find surprise charges... I am looking for a way in the programming or whatever, to perm disable roaming, or at least supress the prompt.

*Facepalm*
i really wish people would actually read the threads before responding.
I don't use the app so I'm not sure but perhaps you can use tasker to automatically disable data when your roaming.

App that forces lte?

I saw it in a previous thread but can't find it anymore. Anyone remember what app forces lte on? Every time I move away from my desk to the interior of the building I switch back to 3g but it never goes back to 4g unless I switch airplane mode off on again.
Thanks

dial *#*#4636#*#* > phone info > scroll down to preferred network type > select LTE only or LTE,CDMA see which works for you. You can always switch back to whatever you want.

[Q] How can I force 3G on a 4.4.4 rom?

Every ROM I've tried lately always give me LTE, and I can't get LTE. I'm not on a Verizon plan so I couldn't get LTE either way. Thanks.

Settings > Mobile Networks > Preferred network type > Select CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA
If it doesn't work, try the other network types.

For me I go to the Phone keypad and type *#27663368378# > UTMS > Debug Screen > Phone Control > Network Control > Band Selection. That will get you to the band selection part, but you could go to LTE Band Preference and keep on LTE B4 (band 4). If you're on band 4 only, you will only have data.

Network mode missing

Hi, I just recently use LG G5 Model F700K Korean variant and I notice that it missing the network mode for switching 4G and 3G connection. I also try hidden menu but mine doesn't show network test at all. Is there any way to access this menu???
I'm on LS992 running a GSM card.
I can toggle 4G/3G by going to Settings > Mobile Data > Menu > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > "Automatic" for 4G LTE data, "GSM/UMTS" for 3G data.
Using hiddenmenu APK, I can do it by selecting Field Test > Modem Settings > RAT Selection > "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" for 4G LTE data, or "GSM/WCDMA" for 3G data.
However, these were not accessible to me either until I switched from Production to Lab network using the hiddenmenu APK.

My apologies, I meant to include the link but didn't save it last post. Link to the APK installation file for "HiddenmenuCall" app is in the following guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g5/how-to/guide-gsm-unlock-sprint-lg-g5-t3574819
Essentially follow the guide and skip steps 4-6 (unlocking carrier bands, unless you want to do this too.) It will prompt you to turn on app installs from unknown sources in step 2; do so for this app and turn off after this installation is complete to keep secure.
