On the epic, you hit accept, wait for it to fail. Pull the battery and reboot. It stopped all the updates.

Stop new update from popping up

I made it into the beta testing but after further reading realizing it would remove root I decided not to download. I get the pop up every hour now telling me to update. Is there any way to stop this from happening?
Sent from my Motorola Atrix using Tapatalk
Just root again after the update!?
neither aRoot / superoneclick works after the update
Dont know that this really requires a new thread but you need to freeze the updater service.

Will that work if it's already downloaded, but not installed. I'm worried that if I reboot my phone now, it still auto install

Not really the best solution but install the webtop hack lol. I have the webtop hack installed and I haven't gotten a single notice after being accepted into the beta program. Also if I go to software update in the system settings I get an error so it seems webtop hack blocks this crap.

The webtop is a seperate addon hack that Ken added into the gingerblur script as an addon for Beta 7.7 (which is what I'm on). To me it's worth having this hack anyways as it saves you the cost of the laptop dock or the multimedia dock and it has prevented me from even being able to be told that there is an OTA for my device.

I'm pretty sure I installed it but its still giving me the same error. Someone told me to download but install, reboot into recovery mode, press the four corners of the exclamation point and press reboot instead of apply sd:cardupdate but that didn't work for me as I am still getting the pop up

Couldn't you just install the update and then flash the retail SBF afterwards getting rid of the OTA and the alerts both at the same time?

If you are already rooted use TiBu to backup all your apps and data. Restore to retail SBF re-root load TiBu again and do a restore.

T-Mo Rom Update

Just had the ROM update pushed to my device. Looks like the HTC security bug fix.
Security and performance update. Seems maybe a fit more responsive...could just be my imagination.
What the version number in the about phone software section?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
I said it once and ill say it again, DO NOT TAKE UPDATES if you want S-off when it's available. Those same "security fixes" are probably closing any exploits for our developers to crack.
1.36.531.6
HBOOT is 1.90.0004, still from Sept 15, 2011.

WRONG!
After a factory reset you'll still have the updated software.
All a factory reset does is deletes the user files in the /data partition.

Bit more battery?? It needs tons more...I am waiting to update.
Does the update allow you to root anyway with the One click method??
I don't want to screw that up... S-OFF and ON does not change to me.

There is no s=off method yet, but this will remove perm root is you have done it. Supposedly, you just need to do the perm root again.
I have blocked the update so far as I do not see an immediate need for it. I had heard that the patch is for an HTC wide venerability fix.

Should have fixed the fairly major security vulnerability in HTCLoggers.apk which let any app with Internet permission access your contacts, call logs, location tracking, etc.
This update started rolling out about a week and a half ago.. At least that's when I got it.. It was around 10Mb..

I've noticed improvement of my battery life after updating, also the phone doesn't heat up as much as before...
Not really sure what this update did in regards to battery life, but my screen transitions does seem slightly smoother when going from a full page widget to another (example: weather to calendar).
Before installing it did state the package was for "optimisation"...whatever that means

How to flash
Place ROM on SD Card
You must extract boot.img and flash via fastboot. If you dont know how to do that i have CleanFLASH that will do it for you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416791
This should leave you in fastboot so you then need to boot to recovery!
WIPE ALL DATA. DO NOT ASK IF YOU CAN RESTORE FROM BACK UP!

PROFIT!

Wow all these ics leaks have my head spinning
I'm living on a yellow submarine
Its an engineering build and HIGHLY unstable. While it may be fun to play with, its nothing to get excited about. This just tells us how far away they are from releasable ICS...
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I know this is an early leak and we can't expect much, but any idea on whether these leaks take advantage of hardware acceleration like ICS is supposed to? Thanks in advance Scott!
This is the leak in flashable format?
There is the issue of downgrading though.

i took bunch of the verizon crap out... took out the HTC lockscreen... I like the ICS better (for Now) .... Are the reboots just because its unstable or because its been set to do it by default for whatever unknown reason?

What I *think* is because we needed an updated radio. Thats just my first guess and only a guess.
I am sure there are a lot of bugs in it to. WiFi and text messages do work however.

[ROM][08.17.12] - 4.3.605.2 - Stock - ODEX

THIS REQUIRES UPDATED FIRMWARE
OR IT WILL NOT BOOT!!!
This is nothing special, its a Stock, Rooted, and Updated. By updated that means that I updated all the apps that
Verizon/HTC didn't also ODEXed them. I also removed some bloat but nothing that can't be downloaded from Google Play.
This is directly from Android police Leaked RUU that I personally pulled from the phone.
DOWNLOAD

Looks like stock
As Always Enjoy!

That's a load of crap. Dalvik pulls out the same stuff and caches it when you boot up. The only thing odexing does is make it go faster on the first boot up.

OTA Update

will we have an idea when the update will be rolled out so we can delete it and not have it pushed to our phones? not sure how that works since my bolt had a custom rom from day 1. someone care to give me the skinny on OTA updates and how they affect us without custom roms and having root? thanks in advance.

If you take an OTA update you will lose root. However, you should be able to achieve it again once the devs cook up their magic. So far no one has a made an ota blocker mod, but it will come. As soon as this bad boy gets unlocked we will be golden, custom romming etc.:highfive:
