Hi I am after some advice my wife has a Sammy gs2 but after looking through the threads can't find any answer.
The issue she has is that the phone has random shutsdown when phone is powered on The phone battery has decreased alot, for example the battery showed 80% after reboot the battery only showed 45%.
As I have no knowledge of how sammys work I have se arc I would appreciate any help.
She is on stock with no mods etc not rooted I think still running gb.
Thanks for reading and hoping you can help

Mmm... Battery drain problem bacause of some app... Anyway I advice to update ics or At least Last gb version
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 con Tapatalk 2
It's not battery drain issue, but fuel-gauge chip error. Reset it.

Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 con Tapatalk 2
alright for fix you have to root your s2 :
root with siyah kernel
then download extweaks
then attach you phone to charger (importent )
then open extweaks and click on reset fuel-gauge chip
and done :highfive:

It doesn't matter. Chip is hardware not software, right?
You can reset the chip by
Power off the device
Charge it until it get fully charged
Then take off the battery for 2 minutes
The put the battery in the phone and power on the device now the chip is resets
You can install CPU spy fr play store to check the cpu deep sleep
This proplem occure when there is heavy use and power off the phone immediately after it you will see your battery indicator falls from 80 to 27 or more or less
But with normal use it will not occure
If you think that I helped press the THANKS button

Right, but it seems strange that this happened without flash custom ROM. Anyway the reset is a good idea, but it always better update fw and flash better kernel: Siyah!
do a battery callibration
if u still face that prob then reset ur fuel gauge using siyah or fluxi kernel
Thanks for the help/ tips as regards flashing kernel & rooting my wife is not interested, she Dont want me touching her pride and joy.
If I were to re flash the stock firmware what software would I need and also is there any way of backing up data from apps etc without it being rooted.
Again thanks for help and advice.

Thanks and yes my wife did try your suggestion and it seems to be working the phone hasn't/ doesn't seem to be rebooting.
Do Samsung phones have any update software that is supported by manufacturer, like pc companion or se update service for Sony Ericsson.
Sorry for the silly questions but I have no understanding of Samsung phones, and how they work.

If it doesn't get better by calibrating your battery could be defective.
Which phone are we talking about? The ST15, which you posted it from?
Try getting another battery, might be faulty battery.
Since when this started actually?
And there is no such thing as battery calibration for our phones.
This problem started after calibrating my xperia mini .. And thnx for your advices

This problem had occured a week after I bought this mini several month ago .. After that I returned it to sony centre and it works .. And this problem occur again... When my phone jump to 1 .. I connect the charger and after that it jump up to 79 again .. I always wipe the batterystats.bin and this way doesnt seem much effective ..
Sent from my ST15i using xda app-developers app
As I said already, there is no such thing as battery calibration for Android smartphones. All these things are useless. They just delete the batterystats.bin file, which changes nothing about the battery, because it only includes info about which apps has used the battery. The data is used only for the Battery Usage screen, nothing more, nothing less. So deleting that file or using these calibration things are time-waste and useless.
Lock your bootloader and repair your firmware with Update Service first, then we'll see further. If you need help with locking the bootloader, read my tutorial.

How many apps have you installed?
Just so we're clear, you know about 4.0.4 & brick bug, right? if not, here's some reading material.
If you want a stock rom you can either go 4.0.3 unbranded (look for) or jb leak.
And ain't nothing faster than I9100
"pretty laggy for a dual core proccesor"?
Just your device maybe....
its not the cores... its the CPU,
S2's Exynos 4210 is pretty much equal or abit less than Tegra 3.
Tegra 3 is quad core...
So your problem, is software related...

err......flashing voids warranty.
Why don't you just read a little bit more about all this flashing thing before you actually flash?
Are you even rooted? that would be a good start for you.
omg. I heard that flashing a stock rom from samsung will not void the warranty.
I read a lot but there are different points of view and becausd of that i asked here.
p.s: my phone isn't rooted. it's like new

Here's the thing,
You can do whatever you want with your device, Warranty says "don't do anything or I won't cover it".
You say "F you" and start flashing.
Something up, something funny, odd with your device. You flash a stock ROM, all clean, no root no nothing and say "here, fix it, haven't even touched it".
Here's the catch:
Branded & Unbranded.
If you are on a carrier contract, you should download the carrier ROM, let say...just in case something actually happens.
If you bought it unlocked and unbranded, it's all samsung. Download any stock, unbranded ROM and you are good to go.
Warranty is voided only if warranty can PROVE you voided it. If not, it's on them.
just curious, why stay ICS?

I started having problems with rotation of my screen with my galaxy s3. I never had any problems with rotation of screen but started last night with no reason. I haven't changed anything on the phone and I didn't install any new application but screen wouldn't go to landscape position. The I checked everything restarted several times, battery pulled several times no luck. I had all galaxy line phones but never had same issues. I am really upset about it. Please help if you experienced same issues.
Thank you so much

Just wanted to say that this worked for me as well!
I am not sure if this worked but I got it fixed only in odin mode.
I found below instructions on the forum.
In order to get into odin mode, hold the volume down, home, and power buttons when powering on your phone. Then just hit volume up when it prompts you to.
I hope this fixed.
Thanks again

Who said it fixes the problem? As the app name says, its checking if his accelemeter works or not. It might be spoilt. And therefore MIGHT tell him wats the problem.

tried playing a youtube video and it went in landscape mode. when same when playing a racing game but the 'tilt to turn' doesnt work. not sure if this will help to show a problem.

Fix auto rotate
Worked for me.. Uncheck auto rotation then turn off phone, take out sim card and battery wait 5 seconds then put both back in and boot phone, wait about 15 seconds to boot completely then turn on auto rotation.. Bam working
