I got this Samsung Galaxy 70 korean model YP-GB70EW.
I chosen english in settings yet some programs and error messages are still in korean. Is there any way to translate it without flashing new rom?
P.S. if i have to flash room is there very stable room for this model?
Not normal at all.
This device has korean and english ONLY. Choice is to be done at first start.
If you have problem a factory wipe should refresh and in case of not solving you just reflash the stock KPL firmware available from here.
http://ts.daumcdn.net/custom/blog/8...me.html?http://supportgp.tistory.com/notice/2
I am not sure your device was not "used" before you?
I am absolutely positive its new and stock firmware i just updated it trough Samsung Kies software and its the same. I even did factory reset, and chosen english. All menus show in english and all core android apps. However there's some 3rd party apps pre installed i guess that still in korean.
Also the welcome goodbye screen is korean and error messages are. Guess its as close to english as it gets.
Now the phone has antenna however when i run app to listen radio it finds zero stations tv, zero stations its because its programmed for Korean frequencies? how i reprogram so i can watch tv/listen radio in USA?
Also how i can root it without loosing stock ROM, only way i found so far ppl here say its only possible with custom ROM, which ROM is best to use if i dont care for anything new just stability of ROM.
Only one i found that works on Korean version is AOKP ROM which is ported and camera and bluetooth don't work its unacceptable for me other one " Rice Rom" has english option and fully works other one RJ's rom is not clear if supports Korean version?
Is it possible to install International or USA firmware instead of korean so i can use more ROM's?
It is working fine I see you have menu in english.
Korean dedicated applications will open "only" in korean language, they are not useful for us, forget them.
About the antenna it is not for radio, this antenna is for digital korean TV only available there. FM radios you get them through hearphone cable as antenna.
I don't know what country you are living by now, but no risk you copy it! And it will be 100% korean language.
About new roms, I have opened a third try to get some foreign support, but success is very tiny.

About ROMS, easy to say that if you want all the fonctionnality working (especially 5m camera), wise is to stay with KR KPL and root.

I did did not found any info on how to root stock ROM. Can you help?
Hello
to copy a radio station or TV means to catch it, to receive it clearly. this usage with the military military operators. (as exemple It is used incessantly in the Stargate serie)
DAB Korean TV has FM radio like maximum range, so no risk for you to receive it! sorry
About the "rooting kernel" here is the link:
http://soon-s.tistory.com/m/post/list
just make use of odin, do not touch at the option and only flash the kernel in PDA place.
You can also flash the rooted KPH Rani rice white wine 2, it is very light but not based on KPL .
If link's dead, ask the forum for refresh them.

Hi all,
I got my HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) from Egypt but as always the device has not GPS support or I think the GPS is disabled from the ROM.
Can anyone confirm that? I mean if I downloaded and flashed to another cooked ROM will the GPS wake up.
I can provide my own original ROM if that may help.
Thanks and Best Regards to the XDA-Developers.

Are all devices sold in Egypt GPS disabled?
How did you test that the device has a disabled GPS chip? Please clarify.
To give you an example, today my GPS wasn't working (as usual). Soft reset and it came back to life. I have an unbranded HTC Touch Diamond Pro. So to repeat my question, what made you think/convinced your GPS chip is disabled?

I can't test it as I have nothing mentioning GPS. i.e. I don't have any settings or anything in the device mentioning it has a GPS.
But even when I installed GoogleMaps and tried to read GPS data it captured 0 satellites.
And yes all the Raphael devices sold by the official retailers have GPS disabled.

Hmm, the GPS chip doesnt work instantly you have to leave it for some time to get an initial fix.
So Egypt has an embargo on GPS then?

Isn't there any software or tool to make sure that the GPS is enabled in the ROM, so if it will be taking sometime to lock I will be patient and wait .
I've been to Egypt once, and my N95 with GPS didn't work very well either.
You could try to use a cooked rom, RomeOS has GPS support, maybe it works...
Just updating the ROM will not work I think. The GPS is part of the Radio. And if you want to update your Radio you need security unlocker which you can find at the top of this sub-forum. After disabling security, you could try a Radio update. You can find the latest on the Wiki page. Will take you € 15,- to figure out if it will work.

No you only need HardSPL to update the Radios on the raphael, should you wish to flash a diamond radio then that is when you need security unlock.
I would suggest flashing the stock radio first (1.02.25.19) to see if the GPS is just disabled in the radio stack. It MIGHT just be a disabled driver in the ROM in which case a rom flash would re-enable it.
Listen Carefully

Dear microfox, I got my device from jovitronix in Egypt and yes the gps is by default disabled in that rom and no software will make it usable, trust me, I think the version was 1.90.865.3 with radio 1.02.25.19. And yes if you use any of the existing Roms (original or cooked) here on the forum you will have a workable gps again. but Please micro, for God's sake, please make a rom dump first and do not do my mistake. If anything happens and you try to go to the agent even with any original rom other than the am one you will be out of warranty. So make a dump as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507 and post the rom on the forum.
p.s. try RomeOs 13, it's one of the best out there waiting for the Elite Rom
My Radio version is 1.02.25.19 as far as I see it's the same version supplied everywhere. (Correct me if I am wrong).
But the strange is the ROM version it's 1.90.485.3 WWE which I can't find anywhere else.
So I am expecting that the whole thing is implemented in the ROM not in the Radio.
Also I need your support about some point. If I am flashing a ROMeOS I need a HardSPL so do I need to secuity unlock also.
Appreciate your support.
There's no problem in hardspl as you can find the unlocked one and the original one as well in the wiki site. I already unlocked mine and kept the original hardspl just in case I need warranty. And you are absolutely right, you won't find that rom anywhere else as the damn embargo is only on our beloved Egypt. How can I help you in the rom dump procedure?

Using any GPS enabled device in Egypt is illegal
I have a friend whose company is in GPS business and a week ago he has returned from a meeting with some govermnent officials and 2 companies who provide some services for military and government. He said that using any GPS navigation in Egypt as of now is illegal and punishable by law. However it seems that this ban should be over within maybe 6 months. I know this info is not gonna help much, just for you all to understand the legal side of the problem.
some more info on that...

HTC Deceiving the egyptian customers
I regret that i did not read the forum before buying the touchpro from egypt even that i use it as my first refrence many years now and usualy i buy my PDA from emarites, this time i said my not to turst the local dealer even is more expensive and canceled my order from dubai one day before is done.
I accept that GPS is not legal (even that hundreds or thousands of egyptians entered their devices from abroad and using it without any problem..i accept and respect any regulatory restrictions) but there is a big "Fouling" and "deceiving" from HTC to the egyptian customers which i can not accept : which is to not mention the information and print it at the box as they not only disable the GPS but even disable the Hard Rest (if anyone broke it pls tell me because : vol down+enter+reset not working with me).
leave the customer to buy with satisfaction and be totally informed and not to be decived, you buy a business hit-ech device which is created to satisfy a business man who is traveling to europe & usa not a localy user only (and there you will need the navigation sys).
Pls pls pls, i need help and step by step how to bypass this deciving by enable the GPS through a stable ROM noting that there is a problem with the hard reset with me.
Thanks for reading my post and pls spread that info all over egypt that HTC is coming to deceive the egyptian customer just go and buy from emirates as they respect their customers.

Thanks - this is certainly useful for those in need of a stock ROM when one's custom ROM isn't working or perhaps it will "fix" the WiFi problems ??
From what I've seen thus far, this ROM is Froyo 2.2.2 - (newer than 2.2) just curious to know whether it's compatible & newer hardware with ITE touch screen, regardless of version #'s
For anyone that managed to flash it - are there any new Apps bundled since it should have full access to Google Market ? I downloaded it to my storage drive just in case - for future consideration, even though it doesn't have the language(s) that I need.
The Viewsonic website link is very useful and I spend time surfing and looking around - interesting, that, it seemed the Vpad7 is NOT yet available for retail sales in many countries - but that one can sign up for email alerts once it is out. (and, meanwhile - VS is also going to launch the Vpad7 x )
For all interested...
I received my exchange device back today!
(old one had faulty softkeys and got replaced)
The device no has HWVer 1.06 (previous 1.03)
The device has THIS firmware installed - it IS 2.2.2.
As for ITE compatibility - I think HWVer 1.06 is ITE, since the touchscreen is REAL multitouch and not as before gots distrubed when crossing the axes.

That's GREAT & sure you are very happy and hopefully pleased with it - wonder if they repaired or fixed it (swapped out "bad" parts, or simply exchanged it for a new or refurbished one as sometimes it's fast & easier.)
Looked like yours now has been updated/upgraded with ITE hardware - with newer verision of Froyo loaded. It also meant that several rooted custom ROMs including the overclocking kernel won't work ....
As reference info for others, "hummy15" in another post mentioned that her/his device has ITE as had trouble initially with flashing TJ's custom FM6 ROM, until the workaround - info were
My Phone:
Viewpad 7
Android 2.2.2
Baseband PR3.7_128
Kernel version Apps_2.6.32.9
Build number 4027_3_420
That should be the same stock/factory ROM just "discovered" & shared here.
The difference compared with mine (and it's HWVer 107) with ITE
Baseband PR3.7_125
Build number 5029_3_310
(And, from the FTM screen - SWVer=3.41)
Cheers !!
So far everything works.
Except the compass...
It has the same old bug that it gets decalibrated within a few minutes.
PS: It's a complete new device. Other IMEI, other hardware and so on.
hardware version 106 is ITE i have this also,
mine is also andriod 2.2.2
glad to know the compass issue is a universal thing not just cuz i rooted my device.
on the funny side, i actually used it as a phone today, yes thats right i held it against my ear while talking. how funny did i look ????

Hmm, is rooting directly related to the compass issue?
I always rooted my VPAD7 after receiving it...
For making phone calls & Google Voice, I've rather use a Bluetooth headset - it's much easier (and safer if driving - and, if I can figure out a secure & solid way to mount it solid inside the car as oversized GPS for navigation - with the screen saver disabled .... looking for the Car Mode apk that's on our smartphone but isn't on the Vpad7)
With a better quality (noise-cancelling is best) stereo corded headset - the sound is quite good, no Bose but it's good enough when we travel - it's easy to connect to any 3.5mm with a patch cord.
The compass/calibration aren't a problem for mine (HWver 107 with ITE) and it certainly isn't resetting or losing settings every few minutes - at least no popup about need to configure/calibrate or simply "losing" orientation.
I fine tuned all the related GPS settings and also run the GPS Status & Tool apps from the Market, so fresh positioning data are updated every 2 hours as needed.
As for using the Vpad7 in portrait mode once it started up, I'm using the VTL Launcher (link posted elsewhere in this (sub)forum - just "search") along with Widgetsoid from Market - which provided a lot more options to quickly access, change, turn off/on features as needed (i.e. reboot device) without going thru all the hidden menus (as if anyone will likely remember them) and this combination is making it less likely to swing or rotate 90 degree back to landscape mode or worst, turn upside down. Give it a try & easily uninstalled if you decided later that you don't want to use it.
Cheers !

Thank you kindly for (sharing) the link - d/l the "ScreenOn" apps - (edit: tested as working) "on the road" in NAV - just what I need to make it a true 7" portable GPS (hell, it sure will knock my old HTC Eris with its (small'ish) 3.2" touch screen or even the HTC Inc2 global that I'm planning to upgrade to with 4" screen running Google Maps. That might just permanently retired the yet to be replaced Garmin 4.3" GPS (it "quit working" for good) & one less gadget to take along on out-of-town trips with carryons.
The other annoying functionality about our VPad7 is when watching YouTube, the screen orientation will turn whichever ways it feel like, no matter what settings that I try to lock it in .... oh, well - limitations of all android devices, until someone comes along with a brighter idea (fix/patch)
Cheers !
stay tuned, im working on a mount atm, i have to make a phone call about it tomorrow, to see how much it will cost, it will be custom fabricated so should be secure. ill work out the screen connecting side when i have a suitable mount for it.
on the upside i used it for navigation and it was as good as my desire, i have yet to put it through my tracks to see how acurate it really is, but it kept to the road, only messing up twice when i accellerated hard on a roundabout, it took the wrong turn but corrected itself after a few 1/2 secs.
No problem, Letitride
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

I have updated my VP7 by this. Unfortunately now the device is not able to make connection to internet thru SIM card. Phone call is working.

I live in China and just bought a Galaxy S3 here, apparently the i9308 model that is sold by China Mobile.
Big mistake, it is bundled with loads of Chinese bloatware that replaces crucial software like Google Play and replaces those with proprietary Chinese services that I cannot use (I can't read Chinese). So, although the phone works and have English language for the most basic functions, it takes all the smart out of the smartphone. I cannot even install an app on it.
The seller refused to refund the money, which is the common way to do business here, so in desperation I turned to custom ROMs, even though I know my hardware is probably not identical with the i9300 which they are usually designed for.
I followed this procedure to install the Omega 2.5 ROM on the i9308:
- Installed CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 with Odin 3.04
- installed the I9300_Omega_v5.2_XXALF2, using no bloatware option
- Factory data reset
After this it works great, with everything running as I hoped for - except the modem does not work!! So, basically , I now got a dead phone running as a PDA over WIFI only.
So, apparently the modem is not working any longer since it is different from the one in the i9300.
I took a note of the original baseband version used by the i9308 though: I9308ZMLEA
Is there anything I can do to get my phone working again with an English system?
EDIT -UPDATE
I gave up, and tried to restore to the original Chinese ROM as provided here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722247
But although the modem seems to be working and I got antenna bars, I could not be connected to the network, so basically the phone was dead AND I had a Chinese system. Could hardly be worse.
Finally I just took the phone back to the store, said it is broken, and negotiated to get the proper i9300 version as a replacement. It's working fine, and the only problem is it is butt ugly as they only have the i9300 in white color.
Anyway, a big warning to anyone who wants to pick up a phone in another country. Although the phone seems to be the same, some local teleoperator might have completely screwed it over until it's practically useless and nothing like what you have been reading about in the reviews. Samsung has been way too flexible in allowing China Mobile to basically ruin an otherwise great phone.

China mobile doesn't offer the I9300 only the I9308. China Unicom is I9300. My guess is they bought it through a retailer and made the exchange that way.
old post late reply, i know but nvm that, anyway if anyone is still interested in this, here i have the right solution to this. recently i have been collecting some old Samsung phones, i managed to get hold of a Chinese 9308, as u know, all i9300 roms/twrp work on 9308, but can't detect SIM card/mobile network, however i found one version of the MIUI6 roms, so far so good, everything appear to work perfectly, has all languages, Google play & framework (services), most importantly, 3G works fine too. i will shortly provide links to the downloads.

I have a SM G900H (that's what the sticker inside says) that was an e-bay purchase from a Hong Kong seller. I have had a couple of small problems using it, but recently it has started getting worse so I want to try to flash another ROM. The problem now is, after trying to find out more about the phone I'm not sure exactly what hardware I have. Is there a PC utility that can "investigate" my phone, and tell me what exactly I have ?

Please mention the types of problems you are facing. G900H is the International Exynos model. I have the same phone.
The ROM development for G900H is slow for some odd reason. To fix issues you are facing, which may be software related, I'd suggest you download and flash the official firmware.
Thank you for replying. I have had problems sometime with charging, the screenbegins to fade and if I'm too slow to respond by disconnecting the phonewill not turn on for a couple of hours. Some apps do not appear to work but iI think that the problem there is related to GPS issues. My GPS is rubbish. When I get to another device later I can state what shows as the model on Bluetooth. I can only remember the beginning which is ALPS. I would like to consider flashing a new ROM but I'm trying to discover what exactly I have inside so that I install the correct ROM for the phone. I have requested information from the eBAY seller but had no response.
Thank you again. More details later.
Apologies for not responding sooner, recent personal issues had taken priority and I've since become accustomed to some of the peculiarities of this phone. The issue I've had with charging (see above) could probably be explained away with a suspect charge cable/connector, as since then I have replaced the cable and secured it for my own personal use. Where the maps are concerned (including sat-nav) the GPS leaves a lot to be desired, in some instances it would appear to be up to a half-mile wrong. This also affects another APP that I cannot use for work purposes (OMNICOM'S Track Locater) that defines my location to help me establish if I'm within a "safe" area. Another APP I still cannot use is a reader of the new QR codes, that relies on the camera function and not the GPS though. I also keep getting notified that "the Galaxy Note 3 widget has stopped working". I have no idea what that means to me, or what it does for this phone. I'm glad that I've now found someone else with this phone, I was beginning to think that it was unique. I include this screen shot taken from the "about" section of the phone, maybe this build has been improved.
With my S5 (and I think even my S7) there was a 'generic' US firmware I could flash to use ALL available bands within range of the device. Is there something like that for the snapdragon note 4? I just picked up a N910P and was wondering what kind of carrier/frequency mods or alternate firmware are available? It's currently a N910PVPU5DQI5 firmware, so what's my 'best' options for root ETC or is this thing a "brick" that I can't mod? I'm not at ALL 'scared' of programming this 'beach' on my own if there's some good tutorials you'd recommend! Thanks in advance!
@$HAKER your question interested me and I searched a bit as well.
Your SM-N910P is called trltespr as well and this thread might help.
The trlte TWRP should work for it as well.
At least acc to the twrp site.
@bmwdroid yeah, I've been doing a lot of digging before I flash anything and looks like most trlte stuff should work. I saw that thread you linked a day or two ago and that project has become the "unofficial" 10 Lineage 17.1 rom, only one major bug with that for me is the 3.5mm audio jack doesn't work and that's how I play music on the truck stereo...
Looks like @tripLr has a new 18.1 version just uploaded to their Gdrive a few days ago, so maybe that bug's fixed by now? I can't seem to find any posts about it yet either though, so maybe it's a really new "super secret squirrel beta"?! "Small world" too, looks like tripLr is only about an hour south of me!
To "clarify" I was able to flash my S7 with the G930U firmware to my G930P to open up all the available bands that phone was capable of receiving which improved my reception and roaming, just wondering if there's something similar for the N910P or if that's covered by using Lineage ETC? Also the OEM unlock is disabled ATM so looks like I have to wait until I get a sim nano to micro adapter to activate the phone and wait 7 days before I can even see if this thing is capable of being rooted with the N910PVPU5DQI5 firmware?! Unless someone else knows for sure that can be rooted now?
@$HAKER well I don't use pure Lineage as my N910F is on crDroid 6.12 and has a working jack.
For not waiting that long it might help to set date manually to last month or so (of course in flight mode), wait a bit and then let it set time automatically. That did the trick on my T825 which didn't even show OEM unlock before.
Without checking the unlock on T825 I tried by accident but only had to reflash stock again but didn't brick it. Later I could root it.
On my N910F I can't remember how I rooted/flashed it.
Hope that helps.
I guess the accessible band is limited by stock therefore any custom might free it.
@bmwdroid thanks, I'll have to try that date trick again. None of the other guides said anything about putting it in flight mode!

Might even be useful to reboot (in flight mode) system after manually setting time.
"Apparently" from what I've read, after this phone's specific firmware is factory reset/wiped (along with some others) by either you or the seller and you try to use a different sim, you HAVE to register it on a network again with your sim before you can OEM unlock for "theft prevention"... Also, apparently a Sprint S7 nano sim doesn't "work" on a Sprint Note 4 either, even though there's "sim adapters" available?! I managed to get them to send me a new sim for free though... <insert-hack/ALWAYS-talk-to-a-MANAGER.APK!\>...
(Hope-that-"wannabe_code"-doesnt-nuke-this-page?!)
@$HAKER page isn't nuked
Obviously I don't know Sprint but my German nano SIM works in an adapter like it should. Why yours doesn't . Sprint specific perhaps.
Even if you have registered already you can later turn on flght mode and switch date and time manually.
