phone going into car mode when charging - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

The past 2 days, my phone has been going into car mode when plugging it into a wall charger. The first day, it would go in and out of car mode until the s voice crashed. It kept doing this till the battery was charged to 15%. Last night, my battery was not that low, but it would make that car mode noise when i plugged in the charger and unplugged it, even though it wasnt carmode on the screen. Anyone else have this issue?

Clarify?
When you say you plugged it in and it stopped working, do you mean that the phone was powered on and when you plugged it in, the screen would no longer turn on, or it would just lock up and power off leaving the charge light on? Are you rooted?

[solved] Odd battery drain.

So I just woke up about 2 hours ago. Grabbed my phone off the charger.. checked news email etc. Then put the phone down and got ready for work. Went to get the phone about an hour later (1hr 10min) and my battery is at 8%.
Nothing is on.. I checked task killer and there was nothing crazy. Phone is not warm in any way.. I'm connected to WiFi.
It's totally throwing me. It's almost as if it wasn't charging last night.. but I would have noticed that when I took it off the charger as I have the battery widget on my home screen.

wall charger? or usb into a pc charger?
I've noticed sometimes on my older laptop when i hook it up, it doesn't get detected properly and never draws even the minimal +300mA from the usb...

wall charger, same one I use every night. I charged it back up, and now its acting normally, i think , somehow, it just didnt charge overnight.
hahaha, found the problem
I use a USB extension so that I can use my phone while in bed (the outlet is too far for the standard cable) and I guess it had pulled out slightly and not charging.
but it was still plugged in enough that it made a connection when i checked it a little later, indicating that it was charging.
At least it wasnt a real problem

[Q] Weird charging problem

Hello,
I have a really weird problem with my phone for several months now. I use Zenfone 5, and my warranty is probably void already, but I could not use it anyhow (it is in a different country). I tried contacting the official support, but they just said to send it in for a check up, which I could not at the time, and cannot now either.
The problem started when I plugged in my phone in my car using third party car charger. It worked with other phones with no problems, and the output should be OK. When I plugged it in, the light on the charger went off, and the phone turned itself off without any notification. I tried to power the phone on with no success. It just vibrated, and remained off. Later I disassembled the charger and found out that the safety fuse has melted.
I went to my house and plugged the phone in, and it turned on. But the problem was, and remained to this day, that the phone thinks it is charging even when it is not plugged in. The phone charges normally, and battery life is ok, the phone normally goes into deep sleep mode.
The phone won't power up without charger, and the USB OTG obviously doesn't work. But there are some curious things about this problem.
When I took my phone apart and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes (it is non-removable), after I connected it back, the phone turned itself on (without the charger), until I tried to charge it, then it went back to only powering on while on charger. The constant charging thing, nevertheless, remained all the time.
Sometimes when I plug in the cheap USB OTG converter, the phone stops charging notification. When I unplug it, it goes back to charging.
I have no clue what could be the problem, and which part (the usb board or the battery) could be faulty.
I also tried hard reset a few times, with no success.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Bump? Anyone? Any clue?
Is there any way to change kernel so it doesn't register charging if there is no current flowing to the phone?
And which type of battery connector is this?

Charging issue? Works when off.

So odd issue started a couple of days ago with my Moto Z.
It won't charge when plugged in. But it will charge fine if I turn then phone off. Or just once after a reboot, or in safe mode.
Mods on/off make no difference.
Any suggestions? Feels like a software thing since it works fine with any charger when off or safe mode.

Problem with charging

I got this phone about a month ago. It came with a fast charging cable. It charged nicely a couple of times. Then I noticed that it wasn't charging even though it was detecting that it was plugged in. It completely depleted and turned off. I fiddled with it changing cords and chargers and nothing helped. I eventually took battery out of phone and put back in and it charged.
So, basically I can charge it 1 more time maybe without having to take battery out before plugging into charge. It has worked every time so far. Why is this? And what can I do to fix?
