Rooted my phone, changing the system sounds. I can't find the key-tap sound. I replaced the TW_SIP file with my own in system/media/audio/ui and restarted the phone but it still plays the default sound, which probably means i'm replacing the wrong file. Anyone know where the right one is located? I tried other sound files that are different and still the same problem. I also replaced TW_Touch.ogg and
S_HW_Touch.ogg

Do you think if I contacted Samsung they would answer? I doubt it since we are messing around after a root, but maybe it's worth a shot? Unless someone can find the code in the source for the file location...

First of all, I am new to everything about smartphones. So if this is in the wrong forum, please move for me and I apologize. I just successfully rooted my LG Optimus x2 and I have deleted all the factory apps I wanted. I really haven't noticed a faster phone. Why? Should I?
But, I can't find any of the .odex files I am suppose to delete. Where are they? I have deleted all the .apk files I wanted to delete and the corresponding files in the data/data folder but I can't find any .odex.
Also, does anyone know how I can delete the camcorder shutter sound? Thats the original reason why I wanted to root my phone. And to make it faster with a better battery life. I want the thing barebones.
Thank you
How are you removing them? Titanium backup is the easiest ws. Get the pro version and you can simply freeze them so they are out of the way and if you accidentally freeze something that makes your phone wonky. You just thaw it and it's all good again. If you delete the wrong file you can fubar you're phone. Be careful.

One way to silence you're shutter sound would be to make a recording of silence locate the sound file associated with your shutter. Make sure you're silent recording is of the same file extension, I'm guessing it would be ogg you can't just change the extension you will need to convert it if its not the same. Rename it to you shutter sound file and replace it with your silent sound file. You will need a file explorer. In the market.

I am using Titanium backup. But if you freeze apps, they are still on your phones memory, so that is why I delete them. I am done deleting now. I deleted the junk and things I don't use. So far everything is working great. Thank you for your concern. I understand what I am deleting, so I think!, and I am done now.
But with this freeze, maybe I can freeze the file with the camcorder shutter sound. Does any one know where it is?

No idea where it's located, you could use a file explorer to search for specific file types like
. Ogg you might find it That way. Search the Internet for an audio converter. Lots of free and open source ones.

Where would I be able to find the screen press sound for ICS? I want to replace the TW one sound with this one. Any help would be appreciated.

This is similar. Change permissions appropriately and reboot after you drop it in.
Thanks. That was the right sound for the ICS tick. I had to actually replace the file called TW_Touch.ogg on the GB ROM with the effecttick.ogg. I did rename it, etc. Turns out that TW will use it but it blasts it so loud that it is almost as bad as the TW sound was. I had to edit the effecttick.ogg file in Audacity by lowering the gain to an acceptable level for me. Then redid the process. Worked like a champ and now I have the sound I was looking for.
I've attached the file I made in case anyone wants to do it to.
How do I switch off sounds when booting, taking a photo or charging?
You need to root your phone. After that, use a root file explorer to go to /system/media/Audio/ui and delete/rename all sounds that you don't want to hear any more.

Thanks, but the apps would still attempt to play the sounds, only they wouldn't find it.
Isn't there another way to make the apps/system not try to play them at all?

No, unless you mute all sounds. There are no drawbacks from renaming the files. What's the problem?

The "DROID" notification sound seems to have gone missing. I was wondering for about a week now why my text messages weren't making noise, then when I checked to make sure the noise is just gone off the list. Poof. Gone. No idea why or what could be the problem. Going to look around in the file system and see if I can find an empty folder.

Are you rooted? What custom rom are you running?

Not rooted, completely stock. I just found the file on here and added it. Seems to have worked for now. Still strange though.

When I shutdown my phone or reboot it the boot tune, the one that happens when you first turn on the phone happens, then the Verizon 4g lte tune happens, finally right after that the boot tune happens again but this time MUCH louder and it loops while the phone is on infinitely, unless I pull down my notification bar, otherwise it'll play over all other sounds, and even while the screen is off.
Anyone have a fix, I'm unrooted, I have done nothing exotic to the phone, everything is stock and typical, help, thanks.

Unfortunately, it sounds like a factory reset would be the only sure option... Something got screwy, but without a restore point, wiping might be the only way to fix it

Have the same problem, has any resolution been found ?
Edit : I have tried "Silent Boot" and "No Statup Sound" apps and they work once but the sound comes back.
^ another option all tho im sure this is not the op's problem:
-must have root
-install a root explorer app
-navigate to the system/media/audio/ui folder
-scroll down and add .bak to the end of files poweron.ogg & poweroff.ogg.

I have tried multiple file explorers and none of them work. Is there a free root explorer that will perform this task ?
