Para-And v1.6 receive call issue - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At first I was having issue with outgoing calls but I made a few phone calls and pressed Mute/L-Speaker/Keypad several times and somehow volume appeared and seems to be fine now.
But there still seems to be a issue. I cannot hear nor be heard during incoming calls. Ive flashed several other ROMs and have never had this sort of issues.
Does anyone know an answer to this issue?
ROM: ParanoidAndroid 1.6
Kernel: Siyah kernel 1.3.7b
Modem: I9300TDULE6
I also noticed a bug with Volume during calls. Mine will not go all the way to the lowest.

Problem with the phone.akp
Replace the one in /system/app/ with the one attached, worked for me!

Okay thanks mate! Going to give it a try now.

Make sure you reboot as well, if the problem persists you may have to try a new modem. I recommend the XXLFB, attached.

Quick q.. how exactly did u replace Phone.apk in system/app? I thought I'd use AFT but my phone for some strange reason will not connect to my Mac using AFT.
In regards to the modem, are u using an i9300T? And which network are you with? Wouldn't it be better to be on stock modem for signal strength?
Sent from my GT-I9300

Use whichever root explorer you like to replace the akp on your phone, then reboot. You can also push the akp with adb.
As for the modem, doesn't matter which network nor will it affect signal strength adversely, it's simply a fix to the voice issues.

I tried root explorer to replace the apk but with no luck. But I went into Settings/App/All .. uninstalled updates on Phone.apk and now its working.
Please advice if you think will lead into a bigger problem.

I've consistently had problems getting messages to send after flashing a new rom...can't personally pinpoint the problem, as for me it presents itself in different ways and at different times depending on the rom.
However, I have found that the attached messaging apk always resolves my problems, so my solution is to push this to system/app after I flash a new rom. See if it works for you.
It's just the messaging apk from (I think) one of the earlier Nero roms, but I couldn't tell you for sure. I had just backed it up b/c of messaging issues TW was having at the time, and I find myself constantly using it.
Hope this helps!
It didnt work...ugh..does anyone else have a way to fix this?
Bummer man.
Just to clarify what "didn't work" means, you didnt try to install this, did you? You need to replace the existing mms.apk in your system files with the one I attached.
I just want to make sure you didn't try to install it like a 3rd party app...it doesn't work that way.
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA App
No i did it the right way, pushed it thought root explorer and changed the permission and everything, the mms app look different also. But anyways i got it to work in a werid way.
My network mode was at GSM/WCDMA(auto mode), so i just switched it back to GSM and everything was fine?
That's interesting - I just checked mine and am on auto mode. No problems here.
Nevertheless...glad you got it working again!

Title says it all just flashed the ROM and going to play with it for a few days since it is i knew i thought i would create a discussion thread cause i didn't see one, if there is one, my Bad hope we can find answers this ROM looks pretty fast, we can as a community use this for most general question rather then spamming the development thread.

CosmIcEXperia v3.1 - Unable to receive Calls
I flashed CosmIcEXperia v3.1 and was amused by the nimble performance however, I am facing an issue and seeking help from members.
Whenever somebody is calling me, he is getting a "Number is Busy" response. If this issue is resolved I will able to use this ROM as my daily ROM.
Thanks,
Ok here's my problem.
I installed the rom yesterday, and everything looked nice.
Today, I had an incoming call which I was unable to answer.
Few minutes later I took my phone from my pocket, and the screen did not go on and the phone had crashed.
After removing battery it booted up, but now:
1. my home button is not working
2. Screenlock is not working - the slide option is just not there. Pressing any button (including home button) just wakes the phone up.
3. BIGGEST PROBLEM - I cant receive incoming calls. Caller hears that the phone is busy, while I see no information about the call. Outgoing calls, SMS sending and receiving all work.
I also found similar thread from google, code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=18742 (sorry, im not allowed to post links) and I have all the problems as the OP in the thread.
No other solutions given though, than to reflash or do hard reset. Any more ideas?

you need to wipe data , wipe dalvik cache and format system then reflash no one else has those problems
Only problem I am having is when I change my brightness, for example from low to high, when I lock then unlock my phone the brightness goes back to low.
It's kind of annoying but it only does it sometimes.

Widget "Power Control" does not work completely ...
I was using this ROM until yesterday, It's fast, but I've got problems with GPS on 3.1, then I flashed 3.0 and the buttons and check box was all messed.
I've tested it for 2 days, but then, a release of a new cyanogen came.
Hi,
I have a little stupid question about this ROM, namely anyone tested GTA III on our phones with this ROM and it working?
On official ROM 2.3.3 it doesn't work...
Sorry for my bad and poor English.
Guys i'm using this ROM but i don't know what to do to install one of the 2sd methods.
What you guys advise to use? link2sd? se2? ungaze?
And if not asking too much could you show me all the steps i've to do.
Thanks in advanced.
Edit:
I already try to use the three methods i mentioned (one at a time) but i couldn't make it work.
GPS not working
GPS is not working for me. When ever i am trying it comes from only Wireless Signal, not from GPS. GPS is important for me for every day use. Is there any tweaks or third party apps that serves my problem?

Google Xperia Arc Launcher 2.0 with four corners, download the apk than using a file manager find the downloaded apk copy or move to /system/app than hard pressed for the option menu, select set permissions set to xxx,x than hit OK than reboot phone.. It's that easy

[Q] Internet shutting off during phone call causes problems with internet

Hello
I got a problem with my internet connection, im using an unrooted phone with stock rom etc, i have never flashed it before.
Everytime when someone calls me, i notice my internet (hspda, 3g) shuts off.
And after the call is over, it enables again but stays on G and not H+ or 3G (i have no idea what G is) and i noticed my internet is painfully slow then
Its fixed agains after i go in airplane mode or after i restart my phone.
Anyone know how to fix this? Im thinking of installing checkrom and hope that it fixes the problem
Bump
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I would try a few different modems and see if one helps, as the rom doesn't really have much todo with the cellular radio.
This thread has all the modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
Flashable via odin or CWM, via CWM will mean flashing a new kernel though.

[Q] Lost phone service, required reboot

Hi,
I ran into this issue a few times and want to know if there anything I can do to solve it. I'm currently on Passion V13r1 with boot 2 kernel and I also did cleanup patch.
My phone service just went out for no reason. I can't call out or any calls can come in. I toggled the plane mode but that didn't help. Once I rebooted it then it come back ok. This has happened 3 times since I'm on V13r1. Anyone else run into this issue? Anything that I can do to solve this, pls advise.
I'm planning to flash V11b5 to see if it help with the speaker issue that I'm also having. Not sure if this will take care this problem too.
Thanks!

It sounds like your nvdata.bin got corrupted. Try and replace your nvdata.bin in your /efs folder with a known good backup.

Thanks for the advise but I went with MIUI for the time being. I still don't understand why it works most of the time if my nvdata.bin got corrupted. This problem happens only 3 times since I'm on Passion V3RC1 but not on V12.
I heard about similar issues on Passion FB page and I think it was a sim card problem. Try to get a replacement

A quick way to check to see if the problem is the phone's nvdata.bin, is to check the phones IMEI in System Settings > About Phone > Status. If the phone shows anything other than your IMEI, i.e. "unknown", then you most likely have a slightly corrupted nvdata.bin. The same thing happened to me a few times on 2.2 and when I first moved over to ICS. I replaced the SIM and was still getting the same errors while testing. Once I replaced the nvdata.bin in the /efs directory with a copy I made when I bought the phone, all the randomly losing network connectivity stopped. The biggest PITA about diagnosing the problem was it truly was happening randomly, with no discernible pattern at all.

Thanks for the info. I just checked and the IMEI has a valid number. I'm not sure if it is my number but it's a number, not unknown. So, it did again 1 time yesterday under MIUI rom.
Just to let you know, when this problem occurs and I tried to call out and it said that I'm on the airplane mode that I need to turn it off. But I check and I'm not on airplane mode. If I try to toggle the airplane mode, it toggled but sometime take a while to see the icon change from airplane mode to a normal service mode but still no service until reboot take place. On other hand, if someone call in, they don't get to the voicemail. The phone will hang up on 1st ring. As I notice, the problem seems to happen during sleep (screen is off)...
Do you think flash to different modem help in this case? I'm using Lithium MUIU rom and it has KB5 modem.

"Call not sent" problem

I've been having this problem for quite a while now. Halfway through a call, it disconnects, and I can't end the call, I'll hit the home button, and have to roll down notification screen, and end it from there. After that if I try to make a call, it just gives the error "call not sent". And I can't receive calls too. Only way to get it to work again, is by rebooting.
I've tried diff roms, flash to stock, wipe, etc problem still there.
I'm now on superatmos 3.0 with galaxy RC4.1.
Its a long shot but try taking out sim card or try a different sim.

Same issue in Sgs2GT9100G 4.1.2
I also face this issue of "call not sent" in my stock SGS2 Gt9100G 4.1.2, this happens infrequently, have changed SIMS, cleared cache, cleared all data before flashing but not luck, is is got to do something with memory full?
I have a similar issue for about 2 months on the SGS2. This is how it goes:
I first had CyanogenMod 10.1 with no problems at all until i installed total recall for the s2 (for legal purposes). Bad luck with that because after i installed it the phone didn't have any sound at all (music, calls, microphone, headset). I didn't have a backup so i had to reflash CM 10.1. Ok, for a while until i got reports that i don't receive phone calls, i was told that my phone was closed (even though it wasn't). Luckily i have a second phone. So, i restarted the phone, and it got back to normal. Next day, similar issue, and so on for a week until i decided to change the baseband. Did that, worked like a charm for a week and then it got back to not receiving phone calls. Decided to change to AOKP (06.15 - i later updated to 06.30 but had to downgrade to 06.15 again because android keyboard kept giving errors). No problems for a week, but finally the problem came back and persisted. Changed about 3 or 4 basebands with no luck. I sometimes check if i can send or receive calls with my other phone, and if i don't, i restart the phone and comes back to normal for a few hours or a day or two. Signal bars are full even when it doesn't work.
I got in huge trouble with this problem and i would really like a suggestion. Please help...

EDIT: FINALLY WORKING, YAY!
After having wiped, rewiped, changed ROM, changed modem... Another ROM switch+EFS restore (altough my IMEI was correct) calls are working again.

This fixed the issue for me.
Thanks very much!
I'm having a similar issue. Each time I go to make a phone call, It gives me the CALL NOT SENT error on the first try. Then I try a second time and it goes through just fine. I've contacted TMO support and here is what they said after troubleshooting: "Alright. Upon checking here, I can see that we already exhausted all our basic troubleshooting on your phone, and I do apologize for the inconvenience. Please do contact out Technical Care at 1-800-937-8997 or 611 on your phone."
I'm wondering if any of you have a suggestion other than new sim card or factory reset. I'm going to definitely stop by a TMO store to ask them about the issue, but I figured I'd try here before going out there.
Here's a video to show you what happens: go to my youtube channel to view the call not sent error. My User account is DeSaaD37. This forum wont allow me to post the link to the video since I haven't posted ten posts yet. So stupid!
Solution
What seems to be happening is the WiFi calling bake in is struggling to activate properly against the chipset structure of Samsung. I watched error codes pop up when the phone first wakes up. Calling is not available right away. When Wifi calling is turned off completely this issue goes away. Not sure what needs to be done to fix the problem so you can leave this on.
-- I have done this now on several samsung phones and has worked on each one (all tmobile)
